If NVidia 7900GS on Dimension 9150 - replacement suggestions sought with impatience!

Greetings. I have an old Dimension 9150, used by my wife for the basics, for example surfing, email, MS Office, but no game or other high demand graphic. The original NVidia 7900 GS is now beginning to fail. I would appreciate any suggestions for a replacement of the card - nothing albums end/expensive please. I'm in the United Kingdom if it makes a difference.

Card as having been shipped (Pentium D 3.20 GHz, Win XP 32 bit) outside the following upgrades:

4 GB of DDR2 SDRAM memory

Corsair VX 450w

Thanks a lot for your help

Should work fine in a Dimension 9150 / DXP051

My 3 year old Dimension 9150 lights.   If I unplug the power cord for 30 minutes, then reconnect the power cord, pc turns on (OS goes in the boot mode) for about 2 minutes and then stops.  I tried to hit the power button at this stage and nothing happens even if the Green LED on the motherboard is on.  If I unplug the power cord and plug everything on in, the front light will blink for 5 seconds and turns off.  By pressing the power button at this stage does nothing.  I tried switching on the power supply (I have a couple working power supplies laying around) and does not seem to make a difference.  I jumped the wires on the motherboard plug black green 24-pin psu so that it is always plugged into the motherboard and the power supply is on but no video on my monitor and the front blinks a few seconds, then it turn off even if the power supply light.  I tried to take all the connectors from the motherboard and leave only the 2 power supply motherboard caches and nothing.  I can unplug the power cord for 30 minutes again and the power of the PC and press F2 to go directly to the CMOS menu and it turns off after 2 minutes (to exclude the OS).  I took the memory and disconnect and reconnect the power cord and front lights blink for a few seconds and turns off (no beeps at all).  At this point I think it is the motherboard that is defective.  What do you think? I searched this forum and saw many people having a similar problem with their 9150 I wonder if it's a common thing for this particular motherboard.  Is it possible that the CPU is defective?  Also can someone tell me how cool Dell for a card mother dimension 9150 replacement of their parts department?

  • Upgrade memory Dell Dimension 9150

    Hello

I'm looking to upgrade memory RAM on my Dell Dimension 9150 Dual Core (DXP051) clocked at 2.8 GHZ with 1 GB of ram. Motherboard is Dell 0YC523. IGB memory currently.

Watching the RAM is OCZ Enhanced latency Platinum XTC Edition revision 2 with speed 800 Mhz - CL4 (4-4-4-15) latency. 2 GB

OCZ recommendation is to increase the volatge of ram to 2.1V on the BIOS but I don't think that this is possible on the Dell motherboard.

Previousposts research, someone also asked a similar question but for an XPS 720 PC.

The solution suggested something about SLI or EPP ready... I'm not sure what it means. This means that the RAM must be SLI or EPP ready to be compatible with the motherboard of Dimension I or the mothersboard must be ready for use of these modules of memory SLIp/PPE? Can I use this module and if so, how do I change the voltage or the motherboard will adjust it automatically?

If not, can I get some other RAM?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Upgrade CPU Dell Dimension 9150

    Hello!

I have a Dell Dimension 9150 and it has a Pentium D 2.8 Ghz processor.

Dell.com support lists: processor, 80547, PENTIUM D SMITHFIELD for workstations..., 820 SKT - T, male

What is the highest and/or upgrade best remaining for the Pentium D processors?

Where are some of the best places to shop in a relatively straight price besides eBay?

I read so many messages but still confused.

Discovered that she can be Pentium D 840, 3.2GGhz, but has noticed that some people say that there is more available as the Pentium D 930, 950 or 945 processor.

Intel website is very confusing because it does not necessarily list the most valuable info and there are variations within each class of processor.

I intend to keep (hopefully!) the computer for another 1-3 years (?), have upgraded from storage for 2 hard drives of 1 TB, maxed out 4G memory (although Windows XP won't recognise that the 3.5 G) and has even with graphics card, Radeon 256, X 600 MRMGA 370W PSU +.

I would like to upgrade processor for video work that I perform.

Did not notice a fan of the sink on top of processor but check! Will I need one? Thermal glue specific for help?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    MrMojo1

You should be able to switch to a Pentium D 960 3.6 GHz

It is a passive radiator and the fan inside the fairing.

As you intend to reuse the heat sink, you must plan on his basic cleaning and reapplying thermal paste to the processor.

Instructions for cleaning and application of thermal paste, are HERE.

You only need a small tube of thermal paste, it can be purchased from a computer store.

Discover the Pentium D procesors HERE

  • How to replace Windows 8 with Windows 7 on a Compaq CQ58

    Hello!

Yesterday, I bought a Compaq CQ58 with Windows 8 on it. I would buy Windows 7 to replace Windows 8 with. But:

    1. it is posible to change 06:52 on my laptop CQ58?

2 and if so, can I have programs default HP on this subject?

    3 and if so, how?

When you request support, please provide the model name and product number complete (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The information requested above are on the bottom of your computer, inside the battery compartment or on the BIOS boot screen. Please see How can I find my model number or product number? for help more to find this information. DO NOT include your serial number. Please enter the product/model information consumer HP Online Support page and post it here for our review.

    1. it is posible to change 06:52 on my laptop CQ58? YES, it is probably possible to install Windows 7 on your computer.

2 and if so, can I have programs default HP on this subject? NO.

    3 and if so, how?

    WARNING *.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a consumer computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP doesn't provide drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not take in charge some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "Configuration of the BIOS start-up secure" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, until you try to install Windows 7.

After you save the changes, the computer will ask you to confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and press the ENTER"" key.

If you install from a USB key and see a message of "load a driver - a required CD/DVD drive device is missing", it's because as 'System Configuration' > 'Config USB3.0 in pre-start' is set to 'Enabled '. This should be set to 'Auto '. This should clear up the CD/DVD device is missing.

In addition, as the hard drive is probably partitioned as TPG, you must start using the internal CD/DVD UEFI or UEFI-Key/key USB to install Windows on a GPT-partitioned disk. Turn on or restart the computer and press "F9" or "ESC", then "F9" when prompted. Select the source of boot UEFI you use and you press "ENTER".

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If you need Windows SP1, see 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' to download and create your own disc of Windows 7 SP1. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

    From the top...

    (1) turn on the computer and immediately start typing the key "ESC".

    (2) when the MENU is displayed, press "F10".

    3) navigate the BIOS to the "System Configuration", 'USB 3.0 pré-OS Config' and the value 'Auto '.

    4) navigate the BIOS to the "System Configuration", "Startup Options" and "Secure Boot" the value 'Legacy Support' the value "Enabled" and "Disabled"

    5) press "F10" and click "YES" to "Exit Saving Changes".

    (6) computer should restart and display "Change of operating system startup Mode"... type the four digit code, then press "ENTER".

    (7) let Windows 8 boot to the top and put the Windows 7 SP1media in the drive to DVD or a USB port, then logout / stop.

    (8) to turn on the computer and immediately start typing the key "ESC".

    (9) when the MENU is displayed, press the key "F9" and then select the correct boot UEFI source (CD/DVD drive internal, USB drive, CD/DVD, USB Flash drive, etc.). ... Press any key to start the CD/DVD, if prompted.

    (10) select "Language", "time / currency ' and 'Keyboard' settings and then click"Next ".

    11) click on 'install now '... Check "Accept terms" and click "next". Click on "Custom (Advanced)".

    (12) you may need to provide Intel or AMD SATA/RAID drivers at the moment...

    (13) ' where do you want to install Windows 7? Select "Disk / Partition" with "Unallocated space", you created earlier, and then click "next".

    (14) follow all instructions and meet the need. Enter the Windows 7 key when asked.

    (15) download and install the drivers from the support page for your computer.

After installing the drivers, please post the "Hardware ID" Device Manager (text only) for all other devices missing or unknown as illustrated in the example below.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Please click the 'Thumbs Up' white LAURELS to show your appreciation

  • PHP - replace the slash (/) with hyphen (-)

I started to replace the spaces, special characters, etc. with dashes. However, I can't find the proper way to replace a slash with a dash. I looked everywhere on the internet, some people, which suggests using the .htaccess file but I do not think that that suits my purpose. My code so far:

Example: You have 1 new message (07/12/2016)

    I want to be: you-ve-got-1-new-message-12-07-2016

    <? PHP

    $message_original is $row_message ['title'];.

    $message_lower = strtolower ($message_original);

    $message_alpha = preg_replace ("/ [^ a - z0 - 9_\s-] /", "", $message_lower);

    $message_dash = preg_replace ("/ [\s-] + /","", $message_alpha ");

    $message = preg_replace ("/ [\s_] /", "-", $message_dash);

    ? >

    $string = "you have 1 new message------$! (12-07 - 2016) « ;

    $filtered = strtolower (preg_replace ('/ [\W\s\/] + / ', '-', $string));

    echo $filtered;  you-ve-Got-1-New-message-12-07-2016

You can do it with the above simplified code. The regular expression "/ [\W\s\/] + / ' is a model group that contains three metacharacters:

    • \W matches any character that is not alphanumeric or underscore line (this is the same as [^ A-Za-z0-9_]).
    • \s matches any white space character.
    • ------/ corresponds to a forward slash.

I have a few images of a person doing yoga inside and the windows are completely blown. I thought I could fix this by replacing the windows with a bottom. However, I have some difficulty making it realistic!

  • How can I replace a color with a pattern fill?

Hi everyone, thanks for all the answers in advance!

I've created quite a detailed design that works with 4 pixels per cm and 16 colors, canvas size 120x170cm. I'm wanting to replace all one color with a pattern, is there a way to do this?

Can I replace a color with another flat color using the settings etc. but I want to meet all of an area of color with a pattern instead. The only way I can think to do would be to use the magic wand tool to select each pixel of the same color, then create a new layer and overlay with a filling of the desired design, however the design is so detailed, it would take me a terrible long to select each color!

Can someone suggest a faster way of efficiant more to do?

    Thank you!

A lot of users on these forums recommend OWC (www.macsales.com) Mercury Elite Pro series JEP due to their durability, affordability and quality of construction. I have about 6 of them connected to my iMac and have never had a speaker to fail. When a hard drive fails, substitute is a 5-minute process to re - use the box. To help you get started, you can find the line to: https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/1394/USB/EliteAL/eSATA_FW800_FW400_USB

  • Portege R930: replace card mSata with SSD

    Hello

I wanted to replace the 128 GB hard drive in my laptop. I bought a 256 GB SSD and read the User Guide.
I don't see anything about the replacement of disc inside.
When I open the PC, I discovered that there was an mSata card.
Is it possible to replace a card with an SSD mSata?
There is a small connector but I don't know I'll have to buy a new one (what kind of connector?).
More important still there no information in the Guide of the user on this whole process.
    Is there someone doing this?

    Kind regards.

I think you need to get the drive replaced by a 2.5 cable cable ".
If the player is not in good physical shape, you may need to get the other parts replaced as well.

This may be a better idea to return the SSD and buy an mSATA SSD instead.

  • Guide: replace the HDD with SSD, Lenovo Y480

    Lenovo
That's how I replaced my HDD with a SSD in my Lenovo Y480. I did it immediately, so there is no user file to consider. I used a key from Lenovo recovery. Read this guide in its entirety before starting.

    Execution time: about an hour.

    Items, you will need:

    -Y480 Lenovo

-New SSD (I chose a Mushkin Chronos Deluxe because my research lead me to conclude that it is the best available from June 2012)

    -Small Phillips screwdriver

-Butter knife or similar to remove the HARD drive. There is not much space for your fingers in there.

    -DVD-r blank

    Step 1

    Turn on the computer.

    Step 2

Write the number '1' on a blank DVD-R and insert into the optical drive.

    Step 3

Press the small button just to the right of the power button. This launches a recovery key.

    Step 4

Follow the instructions on the screen to make restore disks. I chose the factory restore option, which required three DVD - Rs. label each disc with numbers to let you know in what order to use them later. Once it is finished, place back #1 DVD into the optical drive.

    Step 5

Physically remove the hard drive and insert the SSD drive by following the instructions below.

    1. turn off and unplug your computer, flip upside down.
    2. remove the battery.
    3. remove the access panel by removing the two screws and slide.
    4. remove the two screws that hold the hard drive carrier.
5 remove the hard drive by lifting upward. There is a right angle SATA adapter plugged into the hard drive. This card just came out with the hard drive.
6 disconnect the hard drive adapter and plug it on the SSD.
7 unscrew the hard drive bracket and screw it on the SSD.
8 put the SSD drive in the Bay, screw the support down and replace the access panel. Be sure to screw it up.
    9. replace the battery, lock.

    Step 6

If you did not already the first recovery DVD in the optical drive, use a paper clip to open the optical drive and insert the diskette. Close the drawer, then turn on the computer to start the restoration.

    Step 7

Select the boot drive by pressing F12 when you see the Lenovo logo during startup, and then select the optical/DVD drive in the list.

    Step 8

Follow the instructions on the screen. The first time that I did, restoration impossible immediately, probably because of a missing partition. However, after restarting the computer by performing a battery pull, then continue to step 6 restore completed successfully.

I have not compared this drive, but I can tell you that the Windows experience index is 7.9 and startup time is 24 seconds now. The base index is 6.8 for this system now.

You will find that Windows has already helped TRIM. However, regular defragmentattion was still on. I think that the system restore has been disabled automatically.

    Good luck

    Matt

I saw no option for this, and I was quite surprised, that he didn't do it automatically. I'm not an expert on everything, so what follows is a guess.

Perhaps that if you create a partition on the SSD first, recovery will recognize and use it.
