Install XP after computer system reinstalled with Vista

I had a virus on my computer and it took the team tech at my school to get rid of it. They have reinstalled my whole system but it has Vista on it instead of XP. I put in the cd to reinstall XP but it will not let me click on the option 'Install '. Help!

Can you take the XP disc to the same people who have messed your computer and ask them to do things?

    Dear klh76

You need a USB FLASH DRIVE, you can transfer the files from the Recovery Console Windows Vista from any other pc or laptop running Windows Vista, go to the backup and restore on the other computer and click on create a drive recovery system on the file menu. Once done, insert the usb key into the laptop, you want to fix, start by using selected peripheral USB device as MBR, follow these steps on screen, you can repair a corrupt Windows Vista it or restore to a previous restore point.

    ·           Which type of installation do you have?

    ·           Was this a new installation or a custom installation?

    ·           Did you install it with Vista Home Basic or home premium?

    Hi DericKemp,

    1. what happens when you try to install the update?

    2. you receive messages or error codes?

You can check which version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer.

Find out what version of Internet Explorer you are using

    Step 1:

You can read the following article and try to reset the Windows Update components and check.

How to reset the Windows Update components?

    Step 2:

You can also check out the following link and try to install the stand-alone update package.

I had to reinstall Windows Vista for a variety of reasons.  I use Windows Backup and Restore Center to back up all personal files, send an email and contacts to an external hard drive.  For some reason, I can't find or recover the e-mail contacts that I had saved before reinstalling.  Y at - there a trick to this?  They were also not in the Windows.old file that I could tell.  Help, please. Thank you.

    Robert

Well I thought about it.  I had to physically locate the .pst file in about 2 weeks on the external hard drive.  I copied and pasted in my user profile.  Then he imported in Outlook.  All emails and contacts restored.  I knew there was a way to do it.

  • [Solved] After the update is installed, I can not do anything with Vista.

Hi, first time posting here. I recently installed an update, I don't know the name of it, but its screwed my PC everything its a HP laptop with Windows Home Premium64 bits cpu. First of all, when it restarted, and I logged, the taskbar has been pale white. I tried to get back to it, but it is the default. So no luck there. Sortly after that, the computer crashed while conducting. It was a memory dump while conducting. Then restarted. And nothing has changed. Still crashed. Unfortunately, I do not have a restore disc. And I can't restore it, which I've tried to do. And the computer crashed the second time by. Now, I am forced to use the "RECOVERY" Partition that comes with the computer. His support still up to this time. So I decided to see if someone can help me here. Any help would be great!

    Summary
    * Cannot restore
    * Do not have a restore disc
    * Blue Screen appears after 3 to 5 minutes of logging
    * Taskbar is white, pale style XP.
    * Forced backup and restore with HP "recovery Partition".
Thanks in advanced for any help.

    Hello

Did you use the F11 key to launch the recovery?

Which starts the HP back to factory settings recovery.

Which reinstalls Vista, back to the way you bought it.

It is the process of HP:

  • Installing drivers after Windows XP reinstall on Dell Dimension 2350 with Dell resource disk

    Hi all

Recently, I did a clean reinstall of Windows XP (home edition) on my Dell Dimension 2350. Everything went well. Now, I need to install the appropriate drivers. I have the Dell resource disk and this is where the problem starts.
As noted elsewhere, after reinstallation of that display on the screen of the disk resource is as it is in 'Safe Mode '. I was aware of this. Therefore, the search criteria screen resources drive was a little bigger than the screen of the monitor. I managed to its size to fit the screen, but this really isn't the problem, is the following: the search criteria options I have in the dropdown menus (on screen) are the following:

System model: all, DXC061, DXP0G1 Dimension, Dimension E521, DM061, Dimension C521, XPS710 (who, if necessary, to choose?)

Operating system: (I think I got this one) all, Windows XP

Topic: (maybe this one too), Dell Diagnostics, Diagnostics, drivers, Applications, utilities

For the life of me I can't understand the correct drivers, I am to install *. Windows XP appears in the menu of the operating system. I know enough about the order of installation, but as I said, I'm a little confused on the selection of the drivers from the disc. This computer is not connected to the internet at the moment so I can't download and use any kind of pilot program. Other research have confused me more far and provided no precise answer to this problem.
If anyone can enlighten me on the solution step by step to this (I think "Dell resource disk for Dummies"), I would be extremely grateful.

    Thank you all!

    * If it will help, I went in (with "Show Hidden Files" active) Device Manager and it shows (with the yellow question mark) are:
Other devices: Ethernet Controller, multimedia Audio Controller, video controller (VGA Compatible).

You need, in the order of installation:

    1. Driver Chipset
    2. Video driver (depends on what video card)
    3. Audio driver
    4. Network driver (depends on who you are)
    5. Modem driver, if you are using a modem

Go to the Support page and put in your Service tag. He expected to give you the drivers you need. You can download them to any PC and copy it to a USB key for installation on 2350.

You only need applications, if you actually use them (for example, Roxio, Jasc Paintshop, etc.).

Then install your antiviral software and get in line on the Microsoft Update site for all patches and updates.

Please keep in mind that XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, and they stopped release of the security fixes for XP and IE9, more than 1 year. So they're all two full of security holes and put your data personal in danger.

  • my computer acer laptop with vista stops automatically after using it for a while...

anyone with any suggestions why this is so... I change my hardware, and I got service pack 2 installed.

    Is vista home edition.

    Hi oumzin

    1. have you modes sleep or hibernation, working on the computer?
    2. during how long have you had this problem?
    3. what changes did you do before the show?
    4. do you have the question start after the installation of service pack 2?

    Method 1:

You can check if the problem happens again in safe mode. In safe mode; you have access to only the drivers and base files.
Check out the link to start the computer in safe mode and then check-
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Method 2:

If you are not faced with the question in safe mode, then you can check in a clean boot state. To perform the clean boot follow step 1 mentioned in the article below, and then try again check in the clean boot state -

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

If the problem is resolved check which service non-Microsoft is the source of the problem; referring to article and following the other steps.

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    b. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option and then click OK.

    c. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    I hope this helps.

  • I'm trying to formate my computer and reinstall Grand vista Home premium

first the cd does not boot from the bios should go anyway to install it from inside windows

then all the ways all the angels, I can not find a way to singel to partition the hard drive or format only to repair or reinstall
but the option ahead he says everything will get delete but it's not all my programs files games is always there
I want to blow up the hard drive from scratch, but for some vista reason do not allow

then question how can I format my computer from scratch and get a new instalation of windows vista edition Home premium?
and SO I don't get the option (drive options advance) were less do you want to install windows

    You do a CUSTOM installation.
    Read the tutorials.

A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
