Installing WXP on old Tecra M3

My old Tecra M3 has reinstalled XP but I don't have the CD and the winnt32.exe was not installed. Is it possible to get the required software.

I have the original product key.

Hello

If you don't have the original recovery WXP drive you can install the clean version of Windows XP Home edition. All the necessary drivers, the tools and the utilities that you can find on the download page of Toshiba - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Old Tecra M3 you can find in the option ARCHIVE.

Product key for the Microsoft sticker is useless. It belongs to the original version that was delivered with the machine and cannot be used for activation of Windows XP Home edition.

So what you need is the original installation disc for Microsoft. After the installation of Windows XP Home edition, you must install all the drivers, tools and utilities manually one by one.

If you need assistance with the installation order let us know.

    Hey!

Since yesterday, I have my NB again at home and so far, I'm happy with it!

It has a processor M760, with 2 GHz, 100 GB HDD, FSB 533 and such - but it is slower than my old Tecra 8000 with PII and 366 MHz with only 8 GB of HARD drive.
Y at - it a tip or something I should fix, or is it quite normal when there is now software for nearly 10 GB (nothing special, just the software more pre-installed desktop, antivirus and internet, no games) on this subject?

    Would be happy to help!

    HI Meike,

Your new Tecra running the same OS as your old?

I would be interested to know if slow is during the initial loading of the operating system or if it appears when you actually use the system.

  • Impossible to install SP3 on a Tecra M3

I am rebuilding a Tecra M3 model PTM30A-1DD002 for a friend. I installed Windows XP Professional, but whenever I try to install a service pack, it appears to hang.

I tried SP1 & SP3 and whenever it starts gets about one minute in and then just sits and does nothing. I left the machine for a few hours and it is not just anything. On SP1 it says it's "backup files" and said SP3 'audit Product Code '.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

AFAIK Tecra M3 comes with Windows XP Home SP2 Professional edition so for installing WXP use Microsoft WXP drive with already integrated SP2 or SP3 installations.

  • Installing WXP on Satellite A300D 11s

    Hello, all.

This question has already been asked not so long ago, but I would like to know more details. Do I need to use the Intel Matrix Storage HARD drive driver for installing WXP on Vista? Judging by the manufacturer of CPU - AMD - I have not. How the problem of 'visibility' SATA then be resolved? Or not be no problem at all?

If you have already answered a question the same origin, can John, you please respond to mine? Maybe somebody could answer?

What other problems can I face to replace Vista with the good old Windows XP Home on my A300D?

    Thanks in advance.

How about you, the use of the nLite?
nLite may include the SATA driver in XP operating system CD.
So you n t overall 104MB just need only take the view the SATA driver files and include it using a nLite ;)

Google for nLite and you'll get more details!

  • Installing WXP on Satellite L30 - 10Y

    Hi all

I have a Satellite L30 - 10Y (PSL33E 03L031EN) (about 2 years), it is running Vista (installed come) and I'll replace it with XP pro SP3.
I already have the drivers (from the Division of driver Toshiba), but I wonder if there are any issues that anyone knows how I could run in this case?

I installed OS to my house several times, built offices with absolutely no problems whatsoever, but various articles I read there seems to be a bit of a 'ball game' different when it comes to laptops?
Also I have Vista disks more so if XP will not install I can not simply go back to Vista.

Tips, advice or warnings very welcome...

    Thanx

    ~ Q ~

    Hello

Your laptop is supported for Windows XP Home edition, and there should not be any problems at all. For installing WXP using Windows XP SP2 home edition.
Download page for all the drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba.

You can also find document Setup Instructions. Install all the stuff of Toshiba following this order of installations. It is very important.

  • Impossible to install win7 on a Tecra A8 with ssd

    Hi all

I am trying to install win7 on my Tecra A8 PTA83E and I have the following problem
-If the drive is a normal hard drive, then installation is complete OK
-If I change the disc with an ocz vertex turbo SSD, then the installation will stop, at the time when
Win7 try to unpack the installation files in the disc with an error message "file not found" or similar. "

I've been reading about SSD in the web and the prime suspect is the IDE - SATA in Bios mode, they
all you suggest changing the IDE - SATA mode to AHCI mode. I look in the Bios in Toshiba Utilities
    and not found anything.

Anyone know how to change the mode in the Bios, if course is supported?
Also, someone installed win7 SSD in other models and have any suggestions?

    I'd appreciate any suggestions.

    Hello

As I know the BIOS Tecra does not support this option.
But it s not no need to change something in the BIOS because the Windows 7 contains the necessary SATA drivers.

However, I think you should check the SSD manufacturer support page that maybe a firmware must be updated

I also recommend the formatting of this SSD again maybe it helps

  • Satellite M70: How to install WXP Pro without SP with SATA drivers?

I know that this topic is discussed repeatedly,
I get a blue screen when I try to install WXP pro... blah blah blah

The solution is to install the SATA drive.

The problem is that I don't have a floppy drive to install the SATA drive, so what can I do?

    Hello

The use of the disk is the best way to install the SATA or RAID drivers.
But I searched a bit on the net and found nLite.
You can use nLite and include the drivers then you do not have to use the
    floppy.

  • Problem installing WXP

Seems OK, the wife dropped the laptop while it was on and now it does not start correctly.
Recovery option did not work and I don't want to buy the CD of restoration of £30. I want to receive a ball of Vista anyway and go back to XP.

Sounds like there is a corruption of boot, but I'm a bit stuck here how to install XP.

Problem is, well here is a picture from when I try to install XP from the disk. There are a few partitions with no name.
    http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/6394/1002781c.jpg

Looks like they are empty... but the Vista installation and the files are there somewhere. I can boot into linux from a live CD and find documents intact (phew) but can't burn it to a disk (grrr).

So, how can I install XP?

If I press c to create a new partition, there is room for 1498MB...

    Help please!

    Thank you.

What I see on the screenshot is the typical structure of partition of disk on Toshiba laptop pre-installed with Vista.

-Unpartitioned space is WinRE partition and belongs to Vista
C and D are the OS partitions.

So if you want to install Windows XP Home edition, I recommend allows you to delete all partitions. In the early days, then C, and at least this score of 1.5 GB. After doing this create new partition C and installing WXP on this.

Later, Windows XP Home edition, you can activate second partition.

BTW: what model of laptop do you have? Check if your laptop is supported WXP. I hope that you will find that all of the drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba download page.

  • Can I install HD 2nd on Tecra A10?

I would like to know if it would be possible to install 2 HD on Tecra A10 without losing the CD drive Bay?

I know that this is possible on computers laptops 17 "and I noticed it's Qosmio F50 - 10Z 15" laptop has two hard drives.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

As far as I know that the Tecra A10 can use only a single HARD drive with the CD/DVD drive.

By the way; some Tecra A10 (NOT all Tecra A10) as PTSB0E Tecra A10 - 13 K are equipped with the 64 GB SSD SATA. It s a Solid State Disk.

  • Password forgotten on old Tecra 510CDT

I hope someone can help out me. I have an old Tecra 510CDT and you have forgotten the password. The system starts and past by memory to initialize the screen then request a password that i have forgotten. Is there a way to get around this?
I hope someone can help as you want to give to my daughter to use for school work.

    Hi Vince

I assume that you have a problem with BIOS password. Am I wrong?

If yes then you have the problem. It is not easy to remove it yourself. It must be done only by the service partner. Really, I can't imagine they will cost a lot of money. Make a call and ask them. I believe that in 15 minutes, it can be done.

  • Installing WXP on Satellite L350 - 107

    Hello

    I recently bought a satellite L350 - 107
It comes preinstalled with Vista on the disc. Now I have an original Windows XP Home edition and I use my laptop for music production and the problem is that all my programs are not really compatible with Vista. If I want to install Windows XP Home edition.

I put in the disc of Windows XP SP2 home edition and it goes to the portion of disk partition and I don't want Vista, so I try to format my whole system, but when it is supposed to perform the format it gives an error on drive p:

I'll try it again in a lil and then I'll post exact error code

Someone at - it already had a problem like this one?

Is it possible to put Windows XP Home edition on my laptop without having to get a floppy drive and having to use these programs I've read on a few posts, because I don't understand why he can't just install if you Gets an original Windows XP Home edition CD.

in any case thank you already for the answer.

I try he's now to get this error report and then I'll post it here.

    donfifis

    Hello, my friend

To be honest, I don't understand what you mean with this error message. The fact is that report of people here on the problems with the installation of Windows XP Home edition because the HARD drive is not visible when installing WXP begins.

To install Windows XP edition family on this laptop you need Intel Matrix Storage Manager and you can download it from the Toshiba support page. When installing Windows XP Home edition begins to press F6 and load this driver. The HARD drive will be recognized correctly and you can continue the installation of Windows XP Home edition. The problem is that you need USB floppy drive. You get one somewhere?

  • Power on the old Tecra A2 problems

I recently had an old Tecra A2 PTA20E. It has a new battery and AC adapter. Although the green light on the front turns on when you press the power button, nothing happens.

Base gets hot, but the fan does not work, the DVD will not open and also be living. Because of his age he is not worth taking to a professional repairman. However, even though I am a novice, I would like to revive, if possible.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to the possible cause of the problem?

It's not easy to say what s wrong but in the worst case, it could be something wrong with the motherboard for example.

    Check this box:
-remove the battery, disconnect the adapter
    -wait a bit (30 min - 1 h)
-Then reconnect both sides and try to start.

If you see anything on the screen then the question must be really serious and I would say that a material main parts of malfunctions.
But I'm really not able to tell what's exactly wrong in my opinion, all parts should be checked, but I put t know if it is worth s or not. You know.
