Issue of Alias MAX OR VISA...

Got a problem:

I hooked two USB I2C boards for a PXI platform. The two articles were published in MAX OR with their serial numbers. I have rename their aliases VISA "I2C" and "IC2_ST".

Some time later, one of them stops working.

I have replace the broken for a new one.

OR MAX presents the new device.

I try to rename the new VISA of I2C alias for "I2C", but NEITHER MAX errors because the "I2C" is already assigned.

I can't delete "I2C" without connecting the former Council (which is broken in this scenario). so, how to remove the "I2C" alias without taking on the jury?

I expect the "reset Configuration data", but cela will reset all defined aliases. There must be a better way?

OR MAX version 5.3.1

Thank you.

Maybe it's a little different so I 14.5 MAX.

Max:

Tools-> NI - VISA-> VISA Options
In general settings select alias
Select the Alias that you want to remove
Right-click-> clear Alias

You can then give this alias to the new Commission.

  • NOR-MAX for VISA DURATION 4.2

    Hello

I posted this on the Narcotics Control Instrument, but maybe it's not in the right place since I didn't get all the answers. Here's my question:

I have been looking for more than an hour and have not led to what. Is there a version of the NOT-MAX runtime? I have deployed executables LabVIEW on many other PCs and I encounter a problem on one of them where the resource VISA vi does not return the exact list of the COM ports even as drop-down list of the vi box VISA set up a Serial Port. For example, the list box might show COM1 and COM4 COM10, but VISA resource find vi shows ASRL1::INSTR, ASRL4::INSTR, and ASRL12::INSTR (should be ASRL10::INSTR). So I need a program such as NOR-MAX to change the alias on the PC with the execution of VISA 4.2 engine so that it corresponds to what shows the VISA configure Serial Port vi, incidentially, that matches what is shown in Device Manager.

The PC in question does NOT the LabVIEW development environment installed, so it has NEITHER-MAX. is there a stand-alone exe OR-MAX I can install it on other PCs without the IDE LV? Manual change of visaconf.ini will do the trick? If so, is that what I should remove all aliases, uninstall all external (VCP) ports in the Device Manager, restart the PC (or not) and start again, reconnect the devices?

Thank you for any help or advice.

    Ed

    James,

Thank you for your response. Yes, I use the Application Builder and no, I chose not install NOR-MAX, but I see there in my file of project under "additional installers. I will consult the installer to run from the Web site of NOR.

After that I posted this question, I have experienced yet. I have manually edited visaconf.ini so that numbers ASRL agreed with Device Manager of / ' Windows port assignment and low and behold, it worked! If this happens on the PC client, installation of MAX would probably be best solultion, however.

Now I'm wondering if the VISA resource find vi is just read this file? I guess that Yes.

    Thanks again,

    Ed

    Just a small request.

  • GPIB - issue VISA (LV2014 and Keysight IO libraries)

    Hello together!

I have tried for two days to meet the LV2014 - Keysight IOLib - Agilent DSO6014L...
    And I need help.

    What I want to do

I have a LabView VI for the osziloskop control and obtain values of. I created the VI with LV8.5.1 and it worked very well with Agilent Io Lib 14 and Windows XP. Unfortunately, I had to change to a new computer...

And the problems started, I do not get the components together (at least, not without error messages in MAX):

    I connected an Agilent DSO6014L by a GPIB 82357 A Agilent to a Windows 7 Enterprise edition - 64-bit.

I already posted my problem in German LabView Forum ( http://www.labviewforum.de/Thread-LV-2014-und-Keysight-IO-Libraries-Suite-17-1 )

GerdW already replied and proposed to connect via LAN or switch to a NI GPIB.

But maybe there's a way to solve my problem, keeping the "old" material.

Currently, I can run my VI because I use aliasnames which I attributed to the IOLib and MAX (below I've listed the steps I did).

But Max I still got the error "0xBFFF003A (VI_ERROR_INV_SETUP)" of viFindRsrc.

-> More funny. If I say / activate the tulip Passport - save parameters - and restart MAX. I don't have any errors and I see my GPIB instruments... uuuuntil I refresh the view!

    Steps to make it work:

    • Installed Labview 2014 - not reboot!
    • Keysight IO libraries Suite installation (default) 17.0.19313.5, automatically as secondary VISA
    • Under Keysight connection compatible Expert maps GPIB for 488 program and set options of PXI (Resource Manager active and responsible trigger by default) of National Instruments
    • Connected the GPIB 82357 A Agilent and install the driver (windows driver update speed search to jump to the top)
    • Install the driver for the oscilloscope (in my case ag6000 for DSO6014L for LabView 2014 32) and 64-bit support
    • Restart
    • Turn on the oscilloscope
    • He searches the IOLib - here everything works fine no problem to control the oscilloscope
    • In turn MAX on NiVisaTulip.dll under passports (MAX restart, get the 0xBFFF003A error)
    • Restart

Now, there are some steps that I could possibly do before restarting:

    • In Keysight IOLib I updated the GPIB ID 1 (VISA Interface ID and ID of Interface of CLCL) - there was a note that the Tulip Passport uses the GPIB0 and this causes connection issues
    • Max under VISA conflict Manager, I enabled Agilent VISA under implementations installed VISA
    • Max under general settings - Interfaces PXI/PCI - active option to display all devices accessible to the VISA
    • In MAX under passports disabled NiVi488.dll and NiViGpvx.dll

Now it is running once, and I put the same alias under IOLib and MAX name for my oscilloscope.

    In addition:

    • Installed drivers IVI Keysight IOLib RPF
    • Reinstalled NIVISA1401Full with support 32 and 64 bit
    • Did all the updates of NOR

    Hello

    Thanks for your posts.

Yes I also use Agilent GPIBs for other screws so I need a solution running.

    I found this post:
    Passport (GPIB) max

"Agilent IO libraries Suite v 16.2.15823.0 ' works very well with all my gear in IOLib, MAX and LabView 2014.

I also tried the ' Agilent IO libraries Suite v 16.3.17914.4 ', which also works perfectly with all.

For my solution, I give a brief summary of my installation (GPIB Agilent GPIB 82357 A, Agilent DSO6014L):

    • Windows 7 Enterprise Edition SP1
    • LabView2014 SP1
    • MAX 14.5.0F0
    • Driver for LabView ag6000 (support 32 and 64 bit)
    • NIVISA1401Full (support 32 and 64 bit)
    • Agilent IO libraries Suite v 16.3.17914.4 (driver for Oscilloscopes 6XXX 1.3.24.0 IVI)

    and parameters:

    • Agilent IOLib - installed as secondary during custom installation VISA, I can not set the 488 (box all the time is reset), but it works fine without. And I did not change GPIB or ID of CLCL. I gave an alias to my instrument.
    • MAX - all passports are activated. I checked the show box any device accessible to VISA. I gave the same alias to my instrument, as in Agielnt IOLib. Under conflict Manager Agilent Simulation VISA is selected and Agilent VISA is disabled, all chosen VISAs are the Canadian standard.

    Best regards

    André

  • Existing alias in Max

I have an Agilent 34401 which is USB.  I assigned an alias in MAX.  When we swapped instrument for calibration, max found the new address of the USB.  But when I go to add the alias Max I get an error message saying Alias 'exist' and MAX will not save the configuration.

I can't find where the existing aliases is to delete.  How can I remove it?  I have attached the report of MAX.

  • In CVI 2010/MAX 5.0, there is a file where instrument alias can be stored and used during new configuration station warns we Setup manual Alias?

I came across a situation where all components OR need to be re-installed. After the re - install, which formerly working code CVI is over worked. The problem, revealed there was a syntax error being returned against the resourceName by a call to ViOpen() that prevents the instrument to get a handle. It turns out that because of the re-install the NC alias established under MAX - peripheral network devices and Interfaces - had changed the default settings, which did not match expected alias used in the work previously code CVI.

Is there a way to better control this? For example, if the configuration of a new machine, is there a file that can set the alias MAX uses so that each Alias instrument under network devices does not need every time that the value manually?

I'm sorry for that. Please believe that I meant no offence on that.

I don't know what your needs are. It seems to me that the import/export of MAX might work for the IP address and Alias if we check the two options in the wizard. Here the name of the instrument "TCPIP0::1.23.56.3::INSTR" actually show the IP address of the device.

  • Ports don't appear not not in MAX - VISA installed.

    Hi all

Had a rather strange problem today that I couldn't solve with serial ports not appearing is not in MAX (and thus be inaccessible to LabVIEW). In the windows Device Manager, it shows 4 COM ports, and I checked with an external program that they work properly.

I had the f2 of LabVIEW 2011 SP1 runtime installed, DAQmx 9.6.1 and 5.3 of NI-VISA (5.2 also did not work).

    I tried the things:

    -VISA update 5.2 to 5.3

-Reinstall the COM port devices in Device Manager

    -Change the COM port numbers

-Check that the COM ports are working properly

-Tried to add a port USB Serial Converter as a new COM port

    -Resettlement of MAX

    -Reinstall the driver NI-VISA

-Reinstall everything (restart every time when prompted)

-Reset the hardware configuration of in MAX

-Run the installers / MAX as an administrator (this forum works for the local administrator account)

-Checked that NI-VISA appears under the Max software

    -Fixed MAX/NI-VISA

Is there something else that could cause the COM ports not to appear in MAX when they appear (and work correctly) in Device Manager when a reinstallation of the NI-VISA / MAX solve?

I found the solution - it turns out that the serial ports are available for LabVIEW, just do they not appear in MAX because installed just the runtime does not display devices by MAX.

Despite making a lot of Google search earlier, he didn't throw up this knowledge base article until I have searched for it under a different expression - http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/766FD80DAE42E52886256A0200619CFE?OpenDocument

  • Problems with Async write to MAX 'Panel Test VISA. "

I have a VXI-11 instrument and I am able to use the "Test of VISA Panel" in MAX to write SCPI commands and read the answers. My instrument supports channel from demolition and VISA in MAX test panel allows me to interrupt a (async) reading but not writing. The aborted read the statements of the operation as soon as I press the button 'Give up' with 0xBFFF0030 (user abort) which is the error status and the expected behavior. However, if I write an SCPI command which causes the instrument to not recognize the device_write RPC (simulated failure), I am not able to press the button 'Cancel' in the VISA test Panel. The operation ends finally with 0xBFFF0015 (timeout). Is checked the "Async" box test VISA Control Panel and the text in the 'Run' button changes 'Abort' (just as in playback) but nothing happens when I click it. If I look at NI SPY for the asynchronous writing the entry it says: "operation completed successfully, but the operation was indeed synchronous rather than asynchronous." Is obviously not correct from the Test VISA Panel reports 0xBFFF0015 (timeout), but this may be a clue.

What is going on? Has anyone been able to abandon an async write using the VISA test panel in MAX?

I think I stumbled on the answer. If the length of writing is short (I do not know the threshold or if it documented anywhere), MAX or VISA (don't know who) force in synchronization. I wrote a more time control and running async and allows me to have an abortion.

I'm not sure that this behavior is the idea. Let's say that you write a short command that takes a long time to complete or hangs with the instrument. By forcing the synchronization of Scripture, you will need to wait for a timeout. However, the advantage of the current approach grows short synchronization command is probably faster. The good news is my instrument vxi-11 async stops behavior works by the reads and writes!

  • I have two devices gpib-usb-hs; two of them work in MAX, but will only work in labview, help please?

    Hello

For my application, I need to communicate with two instruments by using both devices gpib-usb-hs. I use Windows XP, Labview 6.1, MAX 5.1 version and NI488.2 version 2.42. I checked and this ni488.2 driver should be compatible with my devices gpib-usb-hs and my versions of windows and labview. I also tried versions older and more recent NI488.2 without success.

I can communicate with my instruments properly in MAX, tell me that the devices themselves are functional. When I try to connect with my instruments using labview (using the example of gpib of labview), only devices gpib-usb-hs communicates with success. The other device returns the EDVR error: connection to the device or driver error.

I don't really know where to go from here. The only thing I found strange was that the gpib-usb-hs work was has an alias name assigned visa while the unworking device does not. I tried to give him an alias name, but this did not help.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There are many free tutorials on GPIB. It should explain how the various instruments can be connected to a single controller.

That being said, even if it's unnecessary, you should have no problem with multiple controllers on the same pc. The two being connected, they pass all the tests in MAX? You are using an old driver and seem to have tried several different versions. I suspect a driver issue, and I advise you to uninstall all the drivers GPIB and VISA and then start again. But not all necessary can be done to satisfy your curiosity.

  • Installation of the minimum runtime for the program using the driver USB of NI-VISA personal

I have a LabVIEW 2009 application that uses a driver for a USB device, created using the wizard of the Driver NI-VISA.  What my minimum installation of runtime needed to understand when I move it on a non-development machine?

On my dev machine, I went to MAX and given my new camera USB one alias of VISA.  I think I'll meet trouble if my deployment includes no MAX on TIME machine.

Right now, I guess the minimum is LabVIEW 2009 DURATION, NOR-DAQmx Configuration (including MAX) execution, duration of NI-VISA.

If not, is there a method that avoids having to configure an alias altogether?  It would be nice to not not need NOR-DAQmx, I use not any material that my USB device with driver custom.

    Thank you!

Not sure why you consider same installation DAQmx. You can install just MAX, the VISA duration and your harware MAX configuration. The installerallows of LabVIEW allows you to export the configuration, and then you select the option to import on the deployment computer. You will also need to include the installation of the inf file you created with the wizard.

  • Name of resource VISA includes serial number

I'm trying to find a way to communicate with the Analyzer Signal Agilent/Keysight N9020A via Ethernet.

NEITHER Max, resource VISA for the instrument name as

    TCPIP0::A-N9020A-90040::instr0::INSTR

The 90040 is part of the serial number for a particular instrument.

We will have more than one test station.

I would rather communicate with the instrument by its IP address so that it does not matter what is the serial number of a particular instrument.

    Is this possible?

The previous engineer had gone in OR-MAX and created the alias. This beautiful except that our contract manufacturer is abroad.

    TCPIP0::192.168.0.143::inst0:InStr works as well

  • VISA does not not for the compiled application

I wrote an application that uses VISA, mainly GPIB resources.  in any case, my laptop has labview 8.5 installed on it.  When I run the app on my phone, it uses the GPIB fine, compiled or not compiled.  When I take the compiled application on my desktop which has run labVIEW files installed on it, the VISA resources are not even detected (nothing appears in the drop-down list control) in the application, but I can see them in MAX that is installed on the desktop computer.  Any suggestions?

    Brent

It seems that you have not included the VISA run-time when you generated the installation program. You have only included NOR-488 and MAX because the instruments are detected and MAX use visa when he performs an analysis of the instruments. You've created an installer didn't you?

  • Oracle EPM Planning 11.1.2.3.500 data loading issue

We do a load all night at our project and dimensions of a csv file. We use a unix shell script command to build to start this process.  First, we conduct a dry using the / N command, if this is successful we then update and save our contour using the / C command. The problem is that dry running checks only the file to make sure that it is valid, it does not test the file against the contour.  I was wondering if anyone knows of an order, that I can use to test against the contour csv file WITHOUT saving it. This way if there is an error in the file, it will not update our plan with incorrect data.

    Thank you.

    I agree with Sunil.

You will need to run the file through a few scripts to check some things that you are looking for.

I had a similar problem to another client, they also check that their wasn't any what issues/releases (alias) for the construction of the dimension when running on the day the day.

The solution came us up with a (do not know if it would work in your scenario), we have treated our generation of dimension file towards the end of the company.

So we had a race the night before and if there are problems they are sorted before the race every night. Minor problems that could be corrected using fact, how if there were too many questions of a change in the hierarchy, we not treat of the day to the next and get the company to fix their hierarchies before we reconstructed again.
