It looks like one or more of the boot loader files has been corrupted.

You need access to a PC for this phase of work in order to create the necessary support to fix your PC boot loader.

You will need to create something called a CD-ROM of repair of Win7. This will repair the boot loader files, and if that is the problem, your PC will start OK after that.  Yes, it's for Win7, but Vista uses the same bootstrapper, so you can use Win7 to repair the Vista bootloader files.

The file you need can be obtained (with supplement) from this link: http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-repair-discs/

When you download this file, it will be an ISO file.

To make a CD bootable it, you will need to download and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/

Once you have installed, run, select the option "Save image to disk file" and select the downloaded ISO file and that it points to a blank CD.

To make a USB bootable of it, you will need to download and install RUFUS: https://rufus.akeo.ie/

Once you have that, it is executed in the input of the unit, use the drop down menu to select the USB stick.  Near the bottom right, where is written 'Create a bootdisk to aid', select the ISO file downloaded.
    -------------------------------------

Boot from the media that you have created and follow the instructions in this link: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html

You will probably need to run Startup Repair three times for him to fix all the boot loader.

Once completed, your PC should start OK.

If it isn't, then some files of the operating system has also been corrupted and the only way to fix it would be to perform a system recovery - which if F11 does not work, but a recovery from the PC to its original using recovery media state.

Problem there is that HP no longer wears a recovery media for the Vista PC, so you should check to see if these sites still have it: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

    Good luck

  • Windows Logo key: it seems to me have it disabled on my keyboard windows logo key

original title: the Windows Logo key

I use Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Some how I seem to be disabled on my keyboard windows logo key. Is no longer, it appears the start menu when you press. In fact, nothing happens when one or other of the windows logo keys. So now I can't use windows flip as well.

Please help on how to enable the windows logo keys.

    Thank you

The issue of the device here seems to be "what program or process disabled Windows key?'.»»

Some programs disables the Windows key while they are running. Some dedicated (including gamer KBs) keyboards have a physical switch that disables the Windows key. There are several small software applications that offer a software control of the keyboard like AutoHotKey that can control the button of Windows script . There is also a registry setting, but it is unlikely that it is the culprit, if it has been disabled by mistake. My wireless after-market keyboard has a cmdlet that alow me to disable the Windows key.

    Hello

Since the CMOS reset on its own and you need to change the battery or the BIOS settings, you will need to get in touch with the computer or the manufacturer of the BIOS to check the updates to the BIOS and to get more assistance to change the BIOS settings.

Important: Change the BIOS (Basic input output system) / Semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Hope the helps of information. Let us know if you need help with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help you.

  • Laptop screen stays black with the mouse cursor only after that comes the HP and Windows logo

    Hi all

No, my laptop model is HP Pavilion dv6 1337tx. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. So, today, I shut my laptop down by force by pressing the power button because it did not at this time. Then the next time I turned it the wrong problem started. Whenever I'm on the HP logo sometimes and then the Windows logo comes also. But then the screen stays black and the mouse cursor appears. So, what can be the cause of this problem? I also tried to open with 'safe mode' and 'safe mode with command prompt', but they did not help either.

Note - I tried the method of discharge after taking off the battery and holding down the power button. He could not help. All LEDS are working properly. I have no extra monitor, so I can't check the display elsewhere. Also, I ran the memory test which shows that everything is fine. Please suggest what I can do now as I can not enter the laptop now. What can be the reason?

    Hello

303 error code is a Smart failure for the tough and would indicate that it should be replaced.  This is also consistent with the startup problem you describe in your initial post.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United Kingdom, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

  • Z1: issues installing Windows 10 on Z1

Trying to update my Z1 (G1) to 10 Windows with a clean install.

I tried to follow the steps described in the following article: HP - upgrade to Windows 10 workstations;  However, all attempts make changes in BIOS in "Steps to take before upgrading" have failed, leading to the workstation refusing to turn on - I get a blank screen, 6 beeps (repetition) and have to reset the CMOS to do anything. Several attempts to cause the same problem.

However, I was able to successfully install clean Windows 10 with the previous BIOS settings; However, after the first round of upgrades of Windows and the system is restarted, the desktop crashes just on the Windows logo (and points of rotation). Attempts to enter the SafeMode only get as far as hanging on the Windows logo (I don't even no points of rotation).

Attempts at recovery or whatever it either does not work - all I can do is an another clean install, and then the same results after updates and a reboot.

I reformatted my SSD TPG, and apparently the UEFI system startup (even if secure boot cannot be activated in the BIOS).

Any suggestions other than restoration system, Safe Mode or uninstall updates, because none these work... I can't even try to uninstall the updates as my computer does not start in any form in which I can.

    Thanks heap!

    SOLVED!

It's an absolute nightmare... In short, Intel Management Engine is not compatible with Windows 10, and that it is a layer on the BIOS, an it screws everything up, you can not even in Mode safe... Nice one Intel!

    Solution:

    1. You may or may not need to do an install clean (I did)
    2. Let all the updates, and install the drivers
    3. DO NOT RESTART
    4. DISABLE Intel Management Engine under system devices in Device Manager
    5. DO NOT UNINSTALL THE DRIVER - if you do, Windows will reinstall and enable it, and the next time you reboot, you're screwed!

I read that the version previous 10 or 9 have no questions, but they do not seem to solve the problem, so disabling was the best option...

Solution 2: (the first leaving just in case)

    1. See the following article on IME Firmware Upgrade
    2. Looks like the fool who has replaced my motherboard 6 months ago has not set the LFO rider back into the stop position
    3. Return the jumper to off position
    4. Activate the IME in Device Manager
    5. Reboot as instructed

    Note:

6 beeps from the machine when you try to use the Secure Boot UEFI are because the graphics card Nvidia firmware is not compatible with Secure Boot - if you are having the same problems with the right BIOS settings disable Secure Boot (you can always use UEFI) or get a new graphics card (or simply remove the card altogether and use the integrated Intel GPU) - this should really be explained in the article for upgrade , but is not!

The game is also a game of 'Games for Windows PCDVD'. Is there a way to disable the "windows logo program" blocking me? If this is not the case, what can I do to get the game installed. I think that this "windows logo program" is an addition of SP3. What version of Windows have installed you, including service pack?

What version of iTunes are you trying to install, and where did you of?  I don't remember any warning message about failure to Windows logo test lately several that I have installed iTunes.

In general, however, you can ignore safety warnings regarding the software has not passed Windows logo testing, at least for the software from sources deemed such as Apple.

This type of error message arises usually when the driver that you are trying to install has not passed the Windows logo test or is not approved by Microsoft.
