Hello iduarte,.

HP has designed a quick and easy tool that diagnoses and solves many problems of hardware: the HP diagnostic utility hardware. These hardware issues can prevent printing, scanning or copying. HP recommends that you download and install the Diagnostic Utility material at any time that you need to solve a hardware problem.

You can find the tool by visiting http://www.hp.com/go/tools

After you run the tool please post back your results.

  • Officejet Pro K5400 printer - no solution center or equivalent on MAC

I have a new iMac running OS x 10.9.3. During the process the K5400 printer in network has been found, drivers downloaded and everything seems to work fine. However there is no center of Solution being present on my Windows system, and if there is a HP Applications folder on my Mac, I can't find. I used the Solutiuon Center to check the ink level and other things.

Question: is there a center of Solution for Mac and if is not there and equivalent and if not (one might wonder why not!) How to find things on this printer from my Mac, not having to go to the porinter in another part of the building.

Thank you in advance for an answer!

I found the answer to this problem, I asked. Apologies for experienced Mac users who I am sure that already know such things, but as a new convert Windows I don't have and this info can be useful similar folk.

Click on Preferences system-> printers and Scanners-> the listed HP printer you want information on-> them status will take you to a set of options that will do everything that was available in the HP Windows solution Center.

It is excellent and can work for another fact of printer--I know I do not have!

  • OfficeJet k5400 prints then all the lights light up yellow, power down then turn on printer resets loan

OfficeJet k5400 prints then all the lights light up yellow, power down then turn on printer resets loan. It's all new HP Officejet pro 8000 to had the power to issue even down to reset.

Looks like the power module is out. It's the black brick in the power cord. The only way to replace it is to contact HP, but before you do that, try to reset the module. The document following the link will guide you through it. If you are still in warranty, HP can replace the printer without cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link takes you to a form to fill out. Once you fill it and she is treated, it will give you the printers warranty information, a file number and the phone number to call.

The printer will not turn on or respond

  • K5400 prints the alignment page after each document

I have a HP Officejet Pro K5400, which insists on an alignment page printing after each document.

It's on Windows XP Pro SP3, if that makes a difference!

I've tried everything I can think of to clarify this, but he persists.

I know it's the printer, I moved and installed on another PC, and the error moves with the printer!

Can someone tell me how to stop this, as HP don't seem to know!

It's strange.  The driver may be corrupted.  Try using a different printer driver.  You can find the instructions below. Let me know what happens.

    1. Click on the start menu.
    2. Click devices and printers.
    3. Right click on your printer.
    4. Select the properties of the printer.
    5. Click the Advanced tab.

    7. Click Next.
    8. Select HP in the first list.
    9. Select Deskjet 990c in the second.  If the 990c driver is not there, use the Deskjet 450 driver.

    13. Click OK to close the window.
  • HP OfficeJet Pro K5400 print is Cyan and yellow all of a sudden. Help, please...

OfficeJet Pro K5400 Cyan and yellow just stopped working at the same time (very strange).  I have read almost every post and tried almost everything including diagnostic tests that show that all is well (via the keys on the printer), test and all the other available tests in the manual of HP cleaning several times.  The diagnostic test shows no problem and brand new and full cartridges to max.  However the diagnostic characters shows that black and Magenta, but no Cyan, yellow or any other color.  I took out the printheads, cleaned connectors, soak the heads and everything else you can imagine and not luck. I need to have finished the power and "hard reset" on a dozen times.  I can't imagine that two printhead (cyan on a yellow on the other) has just decided to die at the same time.  I can't be driver/software related because I did the tests directly from the printer.  The only thing I can think is maybe cyan and yellow parched when I took out the cartridges at staples with me to reference.  All cartridges have been taken out of the printer for 2 weeks or more.  Any thoughts?

Ouch - two weeks with the cartridges removed probably allowed 'plumbing' between the cartridges and printer to dry and clog.  If the print head and cartridges were never removed and it is also possible for the tubes to drain and air to block channels of ink.

You tried to clean the printhead a couple of times, I suggest three levels of cleaning in the sequence of head running.  Each level of cleaning up to three will be a more energetic cleaning.  You have probably already found the Troubleshooting page here.

Scroll down this page and click on the + to expand the Windows section, then scroll down to the section on executing a cleaning of the Control Panel, click on the +.  It is said:
  • HP Officejet Pro K5400 print extra page after each print job

I've updated HP software version 2.16.1 on my version of Mac OS X 10.7.5. After the update of the printer still prints an extra page after each print job. This delays the work according to the printer, because the printer flashes for about 5 minutes, then prints extra page and there always several 2-234 X. Don't know how to solve this problem, I already checked that the software is up to date. Is it possible to go back to a previous version of the HP update until a solution is found?

  • OfficeJet Pro K5400 printer.

I get a light "Empty cartridge" (flashing) Cyan Ink Division even if I installed a new cartridge.  I reinstalled the cartridge several times (> 10) without success.

    I use Windows 7 Pro. with SP1.

The printer is connected to your PC via a network, no USB cable.

Well, I solved the problem.  I assumed that the new HP ink cartridge was good, and he was not.  I went out and bought a new cartridge and the ink cartridge came out.  I reinstalled the new original cartridge and the ink light began to Flash again.  Reinstall the latest cartridge (bought today) and the light went out.

Once again, thank you for your help...  Drop this solution in your archives, will appear again with someone else.

  • K5400 to print additional Pages

K5400 prints extra pages with numbers at the top.  They are 2345 X or just the number 2.  The page comes out about 30 seconds after the page requested (s) is printed.  It still not eject fully.  Not until the next time I have to print something?

I have an IMac running OS 10.7.5, updated on all Apple software.  The printer is a HP Officejet Pro K5400.

    Hi jagmack,

I understand that you have an Officejet K5400, which prints an extra page which is not eject after each print job. I'm sorry to hear what is happening, but I will do my best to help you.

I would recommend that you download and run this update HP Print Driver Update critical for printing a foreign page address . After that, make sure you have the most up-to-date printer HP update as well. If nothing comes in your software updates, you can download manually by clicking here.

Hope this helps, have a nice day!

  • Cannot access Services to clean printer cartridges

    Hello

I am trying to print pictures and the quality is appalling. Cartridges are not very old so before I go and spend more money I want to eliminate what is obvious.

Trying to clean the printer heads by going into the properties-preferences-functions-printer Printing Services.

However, I just get a dialogue box stating "cannot perform the operation.

I reinstalled the driver and still nothing.

I downloaded the base on the site of HP driver, used to have the version complete but got rid of it - like all the unnecessary extras.

Do I need to install the full version in order to achieve this kind of maintenance? Surely not!

    Any help much appreciated.

    See you soon.

  • K5400 printhead replacement

I had to replace the Black/Yellow Printhead on my officejet K5400 printer pro a few months ago for the first time since the purchase of the printer a few years ago.

The print head seems to have gone again as the printhead light and power light flashes. I followed the manual and cleaned the heads, turned the power on and off etc. ; all the usual troubleshooting but to no avail.

Is it possible the printhead to go again so quickly?

I do a lot of printing, but not more than I've done since the purchase of the printer.

I am reluctant to pay for an another print head if this will become a common problem and would rather put the money towards a new printer, but in the meantime, I don't have a printer.

    Ciara,

No additional guarantee. We bought the printhead of a seller ebay in July of this year.

Since posting my first message here, we bought a HP printhead & the printer works fine.

Hope this lasts a bit longer than its predecessor!

  • Option two-sided HP Pro K5400 with os x 10.7 (Lion)

I have a HP Pro K5400 printer installed on my Mac. Once I've selected the option under prefs printer duplex, I print a double-sided document, the next time I try to print a double-sided document, the option has disappeared. When I go into the printer preferences, the duplex option is now disabled. When I select it, I am now able to print double-sided comes once more and so on.

I tried to reinstall the printer several times, and it continues to be. The driver version is 4.0.2

    The fixed!

The HARD drive had a few mistakes. Running the option "repair disk" in disk utility has resolved.
