Laptop HP 15-g019WM: factory reset

Product delivered with Windows 8.1 (not sure if 32 or 64-bit).  Try recovery for a friend who isn't technically able.  Recovery HP to factory using a complete factory resets using all DVD 5, created during the initial setup of the machine.  Have since upgraded to Windows 10, but that the upgrade can be done again after a reset complete.  Am page preparation of Factory Image Recovery and I have the lines of reformatting and copying the files audited.  Progress goes to 12% with 18 minutes from the end and process freezes (several attempts and still freezes 12%). After a long wait, an error message appears indicating that the target drive is not connected.  Tempted to use a DVD player external as suggested in a tech forum, but it did not work as the system cannot read from the external drive. Is there a solution to this problem, which does not require disassembly of the machine to take the external drive as suggested in another tech forum?  Or is it a clean image DVD set which can provide HP that won't cause this problem.

Hello

The machine originally shipped with Windows 8.1 64 bit (home).

If you wish to order a replacement set of media recovery for Windows 8.1, you can make from then on the link below.

http://support.HP.com/us-en/mediaorder/HP-15-G000-notebook-PC-series/6545564/model/6761879/softwareitem/819421-001/STEP1

Another solution, if you intend to upgrade the laptop for Windows 10 once again, would be just to perform a new installation of 10 - as the machine has been previously upgraded to 10, a hardware profile (digital rights) will have been saved by the activation servers.

As long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after upgrade from 8.1, you just create your own installation media and perform a new installation as described in the guide on the following link.  Note: On the activation screen, select "I don't have a product key" - Windows will activate automatically once installation is complete.

    Hello:

I had to make a drastic clean the C drive of my ENVY 17 laptop and did a Factory Reset. I was able to reload Windows 8 Pro to my USB stick recovery.

However, Windows 8 Pro cannot be reactivated indicating that the product key is invalid or blocked. I understand that this is due to having the OS completely cleaned and formatted drive.

    My questions are:

    1. Will be the HP (which is available on order) recovery disks be able to help solve the situation described above?
    2. It will allow me to reactivate my Windows 8 Pro?
    3. Will the recovery be HP discs/media contain or are marked with the correct Windows product key?

    Thank you

That doesn't look good... a couple hours but goes on five hours is something serious goes wrong. Maybe you should order the HP factory recovery disc and try again. I think that something has gone wrong here.

  • Factory reset on laptop Windows 8.

My laptop is an Acer V3-571 with windows 8, it would not download Windows updates so I decided to do a factory reset via Acer Recovery Management.I started 3 hours ago and it is only 38%. Is it normal to take as long as that?

I'll assume that the "complete wipe of the drive" took several hours at the end, but the process of recovery completed successfully?

  • Factory reset on laptop

I want to reset my laptop to factory settings, but first of all, I want to know how not to remove my Microsoft Office license, because I used the last of them, and I'd rather not buy more. And also how to create a kind of discs of recovery or system recovery for all my photos, music and documents, with out having a CD player that works (reads all discs and wants to format them?) and that I could also use to share these files when we have a new computer in the next 3 months.

I have an Acer Aspire 5315 with Vista

Please let me know if you need more info to answer my questions.

    Hi kfox79,

    1. What is the problem with the CD drive on the computer?

    2. you receive an error message when you insert the disc?

Do a factory reset, you will need to contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer for more information that this can be done using the partition recovery or recovery disk.

Windows complete PC Backup creates abackup image, which contains copies of your programs, files and system settings. The backup image is then stored in a separate location from the original programs, settings, and files. You can use this backup image to restore the contents of your computer if your hard disk or an entire computer ever stops working. You must create a new Windows complete PC backup image every six months.

    You are the very welcome.

You can use the recovery of a DVD on the 3.

You may be able to run W10 on them.

After installing all updates of W7 (SP1 and others), if your PC can run W10, you should get a booking W10 icon.

My HP elitebook 6930p who basically has the same hardware as you ran W8.1 very well.

He also ran the first 2 preview W10 relies very well.

All versions since that time, the ricoh cardbus controller then gives an error code 12 (resources).

I reported this bug to MS and I noticed there were other models HP affected as the 8440p.

So, unless this bug is corrected and that your machine has the same Ricoh card reader mine, you can probably count on getting the same error.

  • Laptop computer Lenovo running Windows 8 factory reset (damaged Sceen) while unattended.

    Good evening everyone

Could someone please help in a process that could help tracking? My Lenovo laptop running Windows 8 had been trying to run a factory reset and, unfortunately, while left unattended, my younger brother accidentally shot the cables, resulting in my now... current portable computer damaged screen. I left my laptop Lenovo intact and charged through my diet (Yes, I removed safely the internal battery) for more than 24 hours in his supposed factory reset process. I'm unable to view the entire screen and reading a part of the legend that led to believe me that my laptop is in a phase of repair? My current attempt must connect an external monitor to my Lenovo laptop and the caption "D - SUB POWER SAVING MODE" APPEARS. There may be ways to substitute this mode or could someone help please I can find myself having a restless night without solving my unfortunate situation.

    Kind regards
