  I have a new T540p since 2 days. First, I installed Windows 8.1 on the support recovery and after windows and updates from Lenovo, I installed all the software I need.

  Yesterday, I noticed, that I have to press Alt + Fn + F4 to close a window. Or I have to press Fn + F3 for Searchwindow a.

  Can someone tell me if it is possible to change the function of the F keys?

  And is it possible to activate the backlight of the keyboard all the time and not for a few Minutes while I type?

  You can change the FN - key functions by pressing FN + Esc (active FNLock).

• T540p I7-4710MQ clocked at 800 Mhz

  Hi all

  During the installation of my new t540p I noticed that my cpu is not limited and continue to run at 800 Mhz slow when running on the battery. When I connect the power supply everything seems to work fine, cpu speed limit of 800 Mhz to 3.5 Ghz as it should.

  I have BIOS-> power I changed the modes of 2 batteries for perf max instead of the battery optimized/balanced, but that does not change.

  I created the new power management in windows (win pro 8.1 incidentally) and set the cpu for running on battery min 0% and 100% maximum with the AC settings, but alas...

  any ideas what I can try next?

  Is it a windows problem or something wrong in the bios that Lenovo has set?

  After a few more stable and try it seems that the problem is caused by the latest drivers from nvidia optimus.

  After installation of the drivers available on the downloads page the nvidia control panel warned me of new drivers lenovo.

  With the latest drivers installed it throttels the cpu at 800 Mhz when you start an application that in some way, uses the discrete gpu. Even from cpu - z goes down the frequency of the processor.

  Uninstalling the drivers and installing the drivers of lenovo has fixed the problem

• Question T540p Ultradock sound via HDMI &amp; fwdphb03 do not launch

  My problem is that when I am connected with the t540p to the ultradock this noise comes from the local speakers instead of via the HDMI cable if the monitor and then through my external speaker which are way better.

  Audio playback devices I wrote: 'High definietyion Audio Device not connected. So I tried to connect directly via portable computers mindpoit for the monitor and then it worked. But as soon as I have it plugged into the docking station, which is connected to the same monitor via the DVI then the result is not plugged.

  So I tried the station dock firmware upgrade by downloading the latest firmware fwdphb03, and it does not start in spite of being connected to the docking station and using an external monitor and correctly connected.

  Any ideas?

  FIXED;

  So I removed the NVIDIA drivers and all its software. I had to remove the reboot, remove once again, and then restart. Then and only then, I installed the latest drivers for lenovo download site and then the audio via HDMI becomes visible, and it works again.

  I've yet to update the firmware of the docking station. If anyone can help with this?

• T540p - Webcam does not work

• Update on to the card WLAN 802.11ac wireless T540p

  I have a ThinkPad T540p and model 20BFA1R5IX series R9xxxxx, purchased in Italy.
  I want to update the network card with one that supports ac 802.11 wireless.
  Some research on the Lenovo Web site, I found a hardware compatibility list which is updated until 2014 (the name of the file is:540_fru_bom_20140108.pdft).
  This list indicates that the card "Intel Wilkins Peak 2 7260 2 * 2 + BT4.0 11ac m2 card Wake", which has the FRU 04 x 6007 must be compatible with my T540p.
