Lenovo warranty

A few days ago I called customer service to report that load on my laptop is not working properly. The agent told me that I was ten days out of warranty and I have would be to schedule a repair.

(1) according to the Solution Center of Lenovo my warranty will expire yesterday.

(2) never heard of Lenovo for any repairs.

What are my options now?

Today, a Lenovo representative called me and we all settled. I take back what I said earlier about not recommend Lenovo. I always recommend them, but they do need to get their guarantee under the order operation.

Here are some tips for other clients of Lenovo when dealing with warranty stuff.

(1) Lenovo has two pieces of expiry of warranty. An intern for them and an external (the site where you can check if you are in warranty). When you get your computer, you can call customer service and ask what expiry date of guarantee paid by them on the record. Note that. The internal date is that they use to determine if you will be helped.

(2) If you use the telephone customer service, make sure that you call in the call center in Atlanta. The first call I made sounded like it was with a foreigner who was rude, unnecessary, unknowledgable about strategies and not help out my computer. The representatives of the United States was at least more friendly and knowledgeable.

(3) MAKE SURE THEY TROUBLESHOOT YOUR COMPUTER. I thought I would never say that, but when the other computer companies do you dumb stuff like connect your computer and unplug it to narrow down what could be the problem, it actually saves you headaches long term. The reps that I talked to troubleshoot not once and it caused problems later when the action of the proposed guarantee was different from what I had in fact.

(4) save your case numbers.

(5) If you are in a Kaufkaesque burreaucracy of warranty nightmare, be persistent. Summarize your story on several calls into something intelligible so that they can understand your problem.

Hope this helps others.

  • Lenovo warranty is transferable?

I bought a W530 a month ago. However, my wife has a new laptop of Lenovo for work, leaving us with old seat T500 do nothing. The T500 really would make me very well (too felt my needs when ordering). Trying to weigh the pros and cons; could sell T500 for not great thing, or sell W530 for a reasonable fee, but examination of the latter requires that the guarantee can transfer to a new owner (receiving). Can someone advise?

    Thank you.

I can not address political or laws that are specific to the United Kingdom, but in general, the guarantee is linked to the machine. He who has the machine has warranty. There is nothing to transfer. There are exceptions for machines bought as 'refurmished '.

  • Not satisfied with Lenovo warranty

I have a Lenovo Y530 bought new by Lenovo. Last week, I noticed several bright spots on my screen. I instantly thought of pixel problems. But later the technician by telephone reported a few broken LED? So he has arranged for me to send the laptop to a repair depot. Little, I didn't know a few days later a Lenovo technician called and said that my laptop needed a screen.

The other surprise was I have to pay for this $180! The technician said that the screen has been damaged by abuse. Although I never had the laptop out of the House and as says my daughter. Never do you anything like that to your laptop. If it was mine which would be different. I tell you I'm very angry because I know that nothing happened to the laptop. I increased the request for review, but if they reject it I guess I'm on a laptop 6 months old, because I refuse to pay $180 for a screen that obviously has a defect.

I just let people know that the warranty means nothing even if your computer shows absolutely no signs of violence. If they do not trouble so it attaches. I'm really sorry, that I paid for the extended warranty now. I'll remember next time. If it ends badly, there is no way I will never buy another Lenovo.

Just to update on my warranty status. Finally, after 7 days, I received notice that my laptop could be repaired under warranty. The customer support person could not say specifically what could be repaired, but said the screen and/or all of the top panel with screen would be replaced. Mind you, they have received my laptop for repair the 10.

What amazes me is how Lenovo is able to maintain a market share of business with this type of service. Although I suspect that their consumer line get less quality service then the business done. I certainly have the feeling of first-hand. This experience has certainly not wanting to buy another product from Lenovo. Indeed, although the customer service indicated that my laptop would be repaired and shipped to me by Thursday or Friday (21/22) I have yet to receive confirmation or a tracking number.

  • Guarantee problem Lenovo L520

I bought a ThinkPad L520 (Type Machine 5016-C74) and I was told it has a warranty of 3 years. The problem is that when I enter the serial number in guaranteed state search Web page, I get the "error: Type of Machine or series not found!"

The same serial number work parts search page.

I called Lenovo Helpline in Greece, but they offer only the support for the products of the Ideapad, demand so contact me a service authorized centres. I called 2 of them, and they couldn't get results of warranty for my series either.

If someone had a similar problem, where a moderator can help with this? My receipt is enough to check the warranty of 3 years? I have an international warranty?

I sent an email from Lenovo warranty registration Department and they solved the problem.

    Thank you for your time!

  • Battery Lenovo G70-80

I bought a brand 'new' Lenovo G70-80 from BestBuy a couple of weeks. I never noticed until last night, but battery does not charge even if the adapter is plugged. Someone else has the same problem and if so, were you able to get a replacement for your adapter and/or battery?

    Hi Umeshkatyar

I called Lenovo warranty and requested a replacement card. I got it in 2 working days.

After that I swapped the adapter, it charges very well now.

  • T61p - on-site warranty just installed new fan/radiator - time of Nvidia went Up - help please

Someone please look at the pictures below, tell me if warranty Onsite installed the fan/radiator bad for one of my five T61p units earlier today that the Nvidia chip runs a good 15 ° C warmer than before (the other time watching normal using HWMonitor v1.17).   BTW, this chip from Nvidia is a good one dated 2010 (1043A 2) and came from a previous motherboard warranty Onsite replacement thanks to the Nvidia bumping because of the failure of materials (on a machine end July 2008 08/07, no less).

I have included photos of one of my other unit for comparison T61p fan/heatsinks (in August 2008 08/08 of the machine) and my other units from Nvidia are still with a tube of heat very different to running the Nvidia chip research more a heatsink very high above the Nvidia chip, which has a gray cushion vinyl top (see pictures).  Replacement of today appear that it may have an elbow in the naked heat tube running to the Nvidia chip.

The technology installed also wrongly a long live in the lower left corner of the processor heat sink... I found it when I went later to remove the KB and palm rest to see why the Nvidia chip ran more hot (because screw KB was previously a long screw, but it was released as a short screw, so I thought he put a long screw inside a place where it shouldn't be).   Fortunately, I found the corner of the CPU and the swap of screws but that has not solved the Nvidia chip running more hot.

Here is the part number of the thermal fan they sent him: 42W2823

Could this be a fan/radiator T61 Assembly which was sent to him by mistake? That would explain a lot and can easily be corrected by a return visit in the future.

    Thank you all.

I hope that your new technician solves this problem properly for you on Monday, and we look forward to a good report.

I am pleased to announce that people fine and courteous to the warranty Department Lenovo delivered the good fan/radiator directly to me on their own (apparently so I could check for my part it was OK), then a different tech called the same day, set up an appointment for Friday, August 3 between 12:00 and 17:00.  He showed up at 12:00 sharp, not less.

This second tech (of the same service contract company) was superb, and he even used a buffer of anti-static work! ... Unlike the first tech.

He also spent more time to ensure no damage has been done the first tech work and as I looked at the time after starting for a while (unlike the first tech who almost had a foot in the door before I could not even start until time to check).

So now my second (out of five) T61p units (unit very late July 08/07) runs once more in good time, after the good fan/radiator was installed.   The second tech stopped even without any complain for me to take a couple of pictures correctly targeted its current NVIDIA GPU... a GPU of 2010 with a 1043A 2 code a replacement motherboard Lenovo warranty in 2011 for my file date!

Thanks to Lenovo warranty Department and the 2nd technician for a job well done.

  • Buying an extended warranty for the sealed battery

    Hello

I bought an open box Lenovo X 1, which has 2 years on-site warranty remaining. I try now to buy a warranty for the sealed battery unit but do not know how to proceed.

I found the 04W7993 of product that sounds like the good article but don't know if it would apply to my machine.

Can anyone confirm if this product guarantee could be used to extend the warranty to my laptop? Even though it was an open box, the number of cycles was only 1 and the battery always has 100% manufacturer capacity reported by the power manager.

I tried ringing Lenovo warranty services and line sale Lenovo UK, but could not help me.

    See you soon!

    System of 1294 standard 3 year warranty on site, here are the options available;

The problem for you can be against accidental damage coverage must be purchased for, I believe, within 90 days of the purchase of the system.  As you have purchased a system of "open box", I don't know if this is even possible, best ask the store where you bought if they had bought a demo System, it should be possible for you to buy both.

  • Search warranty not up-to-date?

    Hi all

More than a month ago, I bought my T61p from a local dealer as well as a guaranteed four-year upgrade take and return service.

I kept check research warrantly lenovo with my model and serial number, but the data I get from here Watch even guarantee standard bring-in of three years and a bad place.

I contacted the local dealer about three weeks ago and he said that he had registered with Lenovo warranty upgrade and it would take time before the changes would be posed in Lenovo warranty searches.

But... so far, nothing has changed. Always the older data, wrong in the Lenovo warranty research.

Is this normal? Should I again contact the dealer and have him to investigate on what went wrong?

The security upgrade process, I know, is essentially a process of e-mail. When the upgrade is ordered by the dealer, it is required to enter an e-mail address, it can be its own or customers. The Service Pack is then sent to this email address after having, in my experience, 24 to 48 hours. It is said about it; "Registration required as Autorisierungsnummer: 49xxxxxxxx (Bestellnummer 000xxxxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxx '. (Registration necessary for the authorization number...)

In the email there is a link that leads to the registration site where the dealer / customer can enter the details of the client and the date of purchase as well as ThinkPad, (MTM & S/N) in order to save the Service Pack on this ThinkPad. After another 2-3 days another email is sent indicating if the record was a success, if something is not correct it is worth noting that this can be corrected.

An example; on July 4, the customer bought ThinkPad. Email pre-commandees record sent to the customer on 4 July. Confirmation of registration received on 8 July. The ThinkPad watch online as registered with the correct date and type of service.

Maybe you could ask the dealer to send you copies of the relevant emails to your registration.

EDIT: NB. My post refers to the process of recording currently used in Germany, it may be very different in other countries.

  • Killed BIOS Flash machine and invalidated the warranty?

    Hello.

I reinstalled one of our Edge 15 laptops after a particularly bad virus infection and I decided to manually download all drivers etc on the site (which I have never much luck with Lenovo System Update)!

One of the files I downloaded was a BIOS updated (I chose no doubt the correct model of the machine) so I downloaded the update to the BIOS for Window 7/8. I ran it and the machine seems to hang. After 30 minutes, I decided that it was.

I could not turn off with the switch so I removed the battery and when I reinserted the battery he was dead! Fan/DVD spin up but nothing on the screen.

I tried to record a call of the guarantee (as the machine was purchased in June last year) and the guy I talked to went "long ago" and then says that, as I had installed manually the update of the BIOS and not do it through system update, the guarantee was not valid and I will send the machine in to them for a quote about a billable repair!

I was a little embarrassed to hear it and I read the release notes and I can find NO mention of voiding the warranty. This doesn't seem to be pretty standard with Lenovo warranty however. Whenever I have a question which I think should be under warranty, they try to squirrel out of it.

Can someone Lenovo specify if it is indeed correct, and I have a 8 month old Clipboard? If so then perhaps Lenovo shouldn't make their updates to the BIOS (potentially dangerous) so easily available or add a lot of warnings?

    Thank you

    Phil

Hi Phil, welcome to the forum,

In fact, I think that it is supporting another call and ask to create a complaint on this.  If you received a telephone number when you first contacted them, you can enter the number of the Rep and ask them of the complaint to create for you.  If this isn't the case, give details of your system and situation again and if they turn you down again you need to request a number of appeal then ask to create a complaint.

Make sure you write down all the numbers you are given and of course the names of everyone that you can talk.

If you decide to go this route that please let us know how you go.

  • P70 Nvidia M4000M win 10 refuses to driver to install

Windows Update 10 has several times been impossible to install discrete graphics drivers and it is not available on the Lenovo support site. Every attempt results in the following message is displayed:

    nVidia - Graphics adapter, WDDM1.2 graphics adapter, Graphics adapter, WDDM1.3 WDDM2.0 graphics adapter, other hardware - NVIDIA Quadro M4000M WDDM1.1 - error 08024200 b ×.

In the discrete graphics mode the P70 is stuck with the graphics card using Microsoft Basic.

What problems is I meet if I install the correct driver downloaded from Nvidia site? In my view, that the Nvidia driver file is:

    361.75-Quadro-Grid-Desktop-notebook-win10-64bit-international-WHQL.exe

    Background:

My original factory installation has been made unusable as he finished in a white screen. I think it was a problem of display driver, because I could access the drive shared with my network.

My call to Lenovo as soon as the problem was met with "you must use Lenovo recovery disks, but you can't have them because they are out of stock with no eta." Granted I should have created support of recovery earlier in the process but the "human nature".

I received all the indications of DSperber then reinstalled the OS Win 10 x 64 generic MS ISO downloaded from the MSDN site (Rufus used and a USB key). It is interesting to note that the installation process saved the old 'Windows' and believes that it is Windows 7 (was it because I created the recovery on a Windows 7 key?). I think it's a Windows 7 upgrade my installation. Needless to say, it has no parts of Lenovo in it.

A determined local Lenovo Warranty Service partner than the video card is kaput, so I'm getting a laptop replacement.

On the positive side, the OS is installed on a SSD M2 purchased so I have the option to transfer it on the new computer and there I'm going!

After exhausting all options, I could find or think that I decided to return the Lenovo laptop for repair. Apparently, it was the right choice.
