  After the installation of Vista my dvd player does not recognize discs!
  No update XP! It was a clean install of Vista.

  I found several links on the upper filter and lower registry entries this entry does not exist in my registry under the CDROM class.

  I tried the XP disk it works fine and recognizes all.
  Drivers are installed correctly no problem in Device Manager is invited.

  So I have no idea how to run it, seems to be a Vista problem

  Could someone help me? I am really frustrated to this topic

  Maybe this helps:

  -Remove the drive from Device Manager CD/DVD.
  -Then access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  -Reboot the laptop

  But what happens exactly? Which disks are not recognized?

  Go to your operating system's Help Menu.  In the search box, type dvd

  Click all topics & bandages that relate to your problem troubleshooting.

  You can also do the same in disk utility.  Open same.

  In the lower-left corner of the window, click the purple w / the "?" in the middle.

  This will bring up the Help Menu.

  I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this.

  I bought the G6 Pavilion in November last year. When I got home I went to a recognize (as recommended) recovery disks but the laptop there is a blank disc in the drive. I tried a couple of different brands, but nothing worked and I got to the PC world. They couldn't work out what the problem was if gave me a replacement, and exactly the same thing happened. They claimed that it was probably one of the "many problems with window 8'. Finally, I tried some Sony DVD - R discs and it worked (hooray!).

  However, since that time the player rarely works properly. It seems to work ok program disks, but don't like them burn all discs. It has never worked through iTunes, for a few days, it let me burn some discs of music with Cyberlink Power2Go but it no longer works.

  Sometimes when I go hard disk it will say there is no disk in it (when it exists) or is it in use? We'll see what he does today... OK, Virgin (Sony CD - RW) drive... the hard disk is whirring... but nothing happens on the screen. OK, navigate to my computer... Double-click the icon and it says: "How do you use this disk" and gives me two options: "as a USB' or 'player with a CD/DVD '. However, it only allows me to choose the first option (which I don't) and even if I click ok on the flash drive option, it says that the drive must be formatted, mess around trying to do for about 10 minutes and then says format failed.

  Can anyone suggest anything? PC World that it is a software problem and my problem (thank you guys). Really grateful for any help.

  I suggest using the corresponding update firmware in the driver download section.  Who looks more like a problem of hardware/firmware for me. Use Device Manager to select the firmware update software good optical disc. If the firmware update does not resolve the problem, thencontact HPfor warranty repair.

• Satellite L50D-B - faulty DVD drive does not recognize discs

  Bought 2 months ago. The reader agrees not the CD, DVD or anything like that.
  The name of the drive does not appear on the disc and if you double click on the DVD drive icon (even if a disc is inserted) the drawer opens and says please insert a disk. I tried several discs are not the issue.

  So far I got technical support where I bought it.
  They said to do a reinstall I did - with the full drive clean. I tried to update the drivers, but the computer insists on the fact that they are later. If I search my model number on the site of Toshiba driver support he gets rejected, and I have no access to (Toshiba) drivers.

  I checked a few other forums and tried the regedit fix, but which is also irrelevant. If no solution is found (and I've lost hours of my life on this subject) then this laptop is going back for a refund and I'll get one who will perform the simple task of playing a DVD.

  Sorry to hear that you have such a stupid problem with your machine. On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here.
  In my opinion you should not waste your time checking and search for some drivers who probably will not help at all.

  Reinstall the original operating system that you have with your machine and test functionality with the factory settings. If the result is the same contact your reseller or Toshiba service provider directly and ask for help. They can check ODD and Exchange if necessary.

It can read and burn the disc, that I already used, but when it's a new (disc white) it does not read the disc.  It has an error message "make sure that the disc uses a format windows recognizes. If the drive is not formatted, you must format it before you use it. "the disc is the format that would recognize the system.  I tried to uninstall the drivers and reinstalled from the Device Manager, but nothing works, tried too much microsoft fixit, always the same.  Hope that there is another work around here...   I bought a program that designs business cards for my business and when I insert the disc in the tray on my laptop and close the drawer, nothing happens.   Have you used this tool to remove Norton? If not, give it a try and see if it does the trick.

  The drive does not has nothing to do with the router. You are able to read one of your usual cd? Have you tried a cd lens cleaner? If it will read something other than the disk, there is a lack of drive (in this case, sigh...) or other Setup has detected and blocked the autorun and the setup.exe for some reason any. This you can check click with the right button on the device and choosing 'Explorer' and not 'open '.   Hey people, I know nuthing about computers, my question is why my laptop does play not any DVD, CD or blank disc?   "Funny noises? It maybe the CD/DVD drive is endangered. You may need to have the disc extracted by a computer repair shop or, if the laptop is still under warranty, contact techncial support people of the PC manufacturer.

  I want to assure you that I need to replace the DVD + RW on my Del Inspiron N3040.  I ran the test Hardware diagnosis customize for the CD/DVD device.  It is built in self test (test all the) first hardware test, but the test of trust returns an error message "No. disc or can not read the disc in your drive.  You insert a disc that contains data such as a software installation disc if you want to try again.  You want to try again? "I had inserted the Dell installation disk when I started the test but went ahead and insert another disc to install.  I had the same error 'no disk...   I think that you have correctly diagnosed a bad drive. You need to replace it.

  Don't forget that Device Manager checks really just the drivers, not the hardware.

• New computer: DVD player does not recognize discs

  I have this computer (HP Pavilion) about 3 months ago. It already came with windows 8 when I got it, is not a recent issue of download. When I put a game disc in the DVD drive for installation, it is yet to report an error, simply, it does not recognize the disc. I tried with a DVD film as well, and it's the same thing. I never used the drive before today and was super disappointed that it didn't work. New: what's more relative than all works do not, is that the system does not recognize the potential error.

  2. Troubleshooting type, and then click Troubleshooting under settings.
  3. Now, type Hardware Troubleshooter in the option Search .
  4. Click on the convenience store equipment and devices and follow the instructions to run the troubleshooter.

  Method 2:

  Try installing the latest drivers, including drivers for the chipset and check if the problem persists. This is to check if the problem is caused due to any driver related issues or not.
