• Fail-Over with limited resources

  I'm new to VMware.  I support a VRTX of Dell server at (3 blades) recently ordered.  Please answer the following questions:

  1 how Fail-Over does not work if you have limited resources?  When I install server Dell VRTX, I very careful with the allocation of RAM for some of the virtual machine.  It is mainly a VM that I am concerned about (64 GB of RAM).  I have a lot of storage for both the present and future of the virtual computer, so I'm talking about size/allocation of storage during the debate.  My current setup is:

  Slide 1:

  VM 1 # 8 processor cores, 64 GB RAM

  VM 2 # 4 CPU cores, 16 GB of RAM

  Blade 2:

  VM 3 # 4 cores of the processor, 32 GB RAM

  VM #4 4 CPU cores, 16 GB of RAM

  Blade 3:

  VM 5 # 8 processor cores, 32 GB of RAM

  Each blade: 2 (20 logic Cores/CPU) CPU, 128 GB of RAM

  Later this year I intend to add at least two 2 more VM (RAM allocation may be somewhat higher than those listed.).

  VM #6 4 CPU cores, 16 GB of RAM

  VM #7 4 CPU cores, 16 GB of RAM

  All the VMS operating system: Windows Server 2012 R2 64 bit

  2. I'm afraid that if 1 blade fails, and later, I much more Total virtual computer, what happens if the allocation of virtual machine disk RAM failing is greater than what is available on the blades for which virtual machine failover?

  I intend to recommend increasing the amount of RAM to 192 GB (minimum) by blade, just to be sure.  However, there is a chance that the increase of RAM cannot be approved.

  If the amount of vRAM exceeds the available landau your VMs will have a bad time. Transparent page sharing, compression will help but eventually your virtual machines will begin to Exchange and it will be very sensitive.

• Limited resources of memory VM even if I have a spare physical memory...

  I'm currently under ESXi 4 server only allowed for 1 physical processor.  I use the vSphere 4.0 client to manage it.  I have a VM installed, started off the coast with a 3 GHz Pentium D CPU dual core and 2 GB RAM.  Then I upgraded the RAM to 4 GB and everything was fine, the host sees the 4 GB and really shows the ability of the host 4091,61 MB memory as well as the capacity of the processor 2 x 2.992 GHz.  The problem is that when I go in my VM current (1) and try to adjust the allocation of resources by clicking the tab for the allocation of resources to this virtual machine and then click on the link edit in the lower-right corner of the box of memories that I get booking 2044 MB of RAM and that is where the small triangle as well which is the "limit based on the parent resource pool or. current host.  I have the limit of the value "Unlimited."  I know I should be more available because I assigned only 300 MHz processor and 512 MB of RAM to the system, so I'm missing about 1.5 GB or RAM to allocate to the virtual machine.  Why doesn't it let me go up to 3.5 GB or memory to reserve?

  The above is my main problem because I am in more desperate need of memory on this virtual machine, but the other problem is that I am limited to allocation 4636 MHz of CPU to this virtual machine when I 5700 MHz available return.  Also running in the "limit the pool of resource parent or current host-based" in that regard.  Other that what I'm fairly new to VMWare stuff so please be as detailed as possible explaining what I am doing wrong.

  First reserve has nothing to do with the allocation of resources. A reservation only guarantees that some physical memory / time CPU will be allocated for particulare VM when multiple virtual machines are fighting for resources (i.e. host CPU / memory load = 100%). In the case of 1 VMS on host booking resource is meaningless - this VM will always get all the resources.

  ESXi 4 requires 2 GB of memory for himself only, so if you are unable to install more memory modules then you should consider demotion to ESXi 3.5 - it is much less memory consumption.

• How to be informed about the events of limited resources

  Is there a listener that you can attach to your application and receive messages when the unit is low on resources?

  From time to time my application gets a little loading icon in the middle that makes the whole device freeze for a few seconds and then continue as normal.

  LowMemoryListener would fail anyway.  It gives you the opportunity to free objects that you don't need really.  But until the garbage collector runs, will always be the objects of place, and it's the garbage collector runs it causing you problems.

  I found in the past that you can get the quick wins to optimize the use of your Bitmaps.  For example, you can load at startup of the application and use the loaded single copy with your application, as it is possible to have two or more BitmapFields using the same Bitmap.  Loading of these only once can translate into a great saving on memory usage and garbage collection works, all the more that they need to get contiguous bytes (at least that is my understanding).  You can do similar things to files, say its workload once bytes and use bytes as a ByteArrayInputStream to the player.  So by sharing resources and do not recreate these you significantly reduce your memory footprint and improve performance.

• Mac Book Pro limited ram question

  I just changed my 8 GB of Ram of 4 GB and even if my MBP recoqnizes 8 gigs, CS5 does not work, he sees only 2.6 GB which is the same as when I had 4 gigabytes of ram. Is there a way where I can get my CS5 to use available ram memory or is this as good as it gets?

  Thank you. CS5 can be in 32-bit mode, which means it cannot process more than 4 GB memory (2.8 GB is the limit to leave room for the operating system and other applications) you must set in 64-bit mode. Here's what to check:

  Photoshop CS5 Mac OS installs a copy of the application, and it starts by default in 64-bit mode. You can run Photoshop CS5 in 32-bit mode.

  To run Photoshop CS5 in 64-bit mode:

  2. Navigate to the folder/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5.
  3. Select the Adobe Photoshop CS5.app file.
  4. Choose file > get info.
  5. Uncheck open in 32-bit Mode.
  6. Close the dialog box for information.
  7. Reopening of Photoshop CS5.

• ASA (8.03) context single mode can support the limits on resources?

  I have double ASA with v8.03 and I want to limit resources for SSH, telnet and ASDM sessions.

  By checking the Cisoco document, I can handle test to limit the resources with the commands below. But they can't do that after you have enabled multiple context mode.

  In simple mode, the limit is 5 maximum sessions. It is not possible to change.

• Question for the host resource

  We have 1 blade that hosts a physical SQL Server on it. The resources of this blade are 10 total to 20 cores processors and 512 GB of RAM on it. We want to virtualize it soon, but we don't have any other guests that we could use this size. We have a few available hosts that are 8 to 16 cores CPU and 256 GB of RAM. I was hoping that I could create a cluster with 2 of these hosts and virtualize the largest physical machine in the cluster. I know that when I virtualize this machine, he will live on one of the hosts at any given time. My question is if these hosts would be 'pool' their resources so that this machine could use more than a single host would offer it. Is it possible at all or not? If not is there another work around for this problem I have?

  No, the maximum resource that can use a particular virtual machine will be limited by the maximum available on a single host computer running this VM particular resource. Workaround is to add more physical resources on the host or create the virtual computer with limited resources. Are you sure that your virtual machine uses really 20 the processor cores and 512 GB of RAM? Most of the workload running on the physical server uses all resources.

  I don't know how to avoid this problem in the future. But I have two scripts of VMware vSphere PowerCLI . The first script shows all VM with limited CPU or memory resources:

  If you look at the attached doc you can see actual usage during the alarm time is about 55% of the capacity and actual use during the critical alert is about 77% of the capacity.

  If the alerts are not an indication of actual use of NIC I'm not sure what we say the alerts.

  This network IO bar there is just the last collected metrics. You need to appear a metric chart, where draw you the overall badge | the workload for this host, as well as individual workloads of cpu/mem/disk/network. Look back the past 24 hours or 7 days... and you will see them fortification (vC Ops is not incorrect to say that you are 100 > 90). It is these spikes that can cause alerts. One option would be that you could reduce the alert for infrastructure. workload in config policy to not notify you when this product (alert system host workload). Or instead to drop quite alert, simply set the levels of warning/immediate not getting attention, the critical value to 100 and see what is happening (for the badge of infrastructure workload changes). • Questions of linear workflow with Media Encoder CC 2014

  I use after effects CC 2014 and doesn't seem to be the option the most export through AE to H264. There was formerly a button in the preferences to allow obsolete codecs... not there more with CC 2014. Then... I added my renders in Media Encoder. The problem is that it does not calculate my project working in linear Workflow so all my renders are very dark and evil.

  Someone at - he found a work around for this? is there a Media Encoder button that I need to put on for linear workflow?

  I have usually make an intermediate file without loss of AE render queue and then use that file in Adobe Media Encoder.

  I did it for years.

  I have never cared for After Effects h.264 encoder and was happy to see it go. I'd rather the AE team focus their limited resources on the program of work well and let the Media Encoder team working on the best way to code something.
