Linux Z710 IdeaPad drivers?

Trying to install Debian Linux on the Z710, Wheezy NetInstall cannot detect the wired Ethernet card.

Does anyone know which device provides the cable 10/100 MB ethernet connection or that driver Linux I'm looking for?

Starting up again, but with the daily accumulation of Debian (Testing, Jessie) net install .iso, of

http://cdimage.debian.org/CDimage/daily-builds/daily/arch-latest/AMD64/ISO-CD/

Ethernet hardware is detected and the installation runs smoothly.

I know in fact I ordered a machine with Bluetooth in there and have also ensured that Bluetooth is enabled in the BIOS, but it does not show in lspci or lsusb and lsmod shows not all Bluetooth modules being loaded. I use a kernel in version 3.6.10.

    Hello

product page indicates that linux for the Scanjet 3000 Pro s2 drivers are available:

But the specification list only supported for Windows and Mac OS X. even for the driver download page.

Indeed, HP is the main contributor to HPLIP, but HPLIP does not all drivers for Scanjet scanners:

  • Ubuntu linux driver installation for Nvidia 950 M on Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720

    Hello

I bought a Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 Ubuntu version because I like Ubuntu linux more than Windows.

I can't find the linux drivers that will allow my Nvidia GT 950 M graphics so, basically, the card useless and no power management.
There is absolutely nothing for Ubuntu Linux on your drivers page.

I have updated to the latest BIOS A03.

The laptop's Ubuntu Logo sticker on it next to the Intel i7 so I thought it is totally compatible.

    Please advise,

    Thank you

Optimus system and at the present time, it is not properly supported under Linux, there is work in progress for him, but for a workaround, see Bumblebee project: wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee

Description a little longer: you have two graphics - integrated (Intel) and discreet (Nvidia). Optimus systems are designed with the intention to use the GPU integrated tasks that requires no graphic heavy treatment (most of the day-to-day activities) and the use of the discrete GPU for applications requiring more powerful GPU. Integrated card is less eager for power and voltage GPU discreet when not in service allows cooler use.

Normally you use integrated card and there is no way to use the card nvidia directly if the BIOS does not switch to it. Help Optimus allows to use the Nvidia card for rendering and power down to save power when not in use. It has not been official for Optimus of Nvidia Linux support. Bumblebee is a community created project attempting to address the issue, but it is really only a workaround until the solution has been created. FIRST is such a solution, but at present it is still experimental and is not in any version of Ubuntu, more it is officially supported only in the open drivers source (new), Nvidia has not yet validated supporting in their binary driver.

I agree that Dell support for bids Linux pages are sorely lacking, in fact I was not able to locate a page describing their Linux pre-installs. Ubuntu certification pages are not really informative on Dell changes and upgrade policy.

  • HP 15 ac026tx: I can update my Wifi CARD?

    Hi all

July last year, I bought my laptop (HP 15 AC026TX in India). It came with the network card wireless Broadcom BCM43142 1x1BGN with 1 antenna. I want to improve my card for an Intel card that I use mostly Linux OS and drivers Broadcom has problems under Linux. But I read on the white list of the Bios. So, please let me know if my laptop model has Whitelisting or not?

If not, can I buy a wireless-n card with intel at the generic address and use it in my laptop? or should it be card intel HP certified?

    Thank you & best regards

    rajendra_1903 wrote:

I'd go with recovery for the wifi option in the maintenance manual. IF your laptop is 2012 or longer, it is probably in the white list.

  • WUSB600N stuck in the region 2 countries

    Hello

I bought a v1. WUSB600N for win XP sp3 recently for no reason apparent, he found himself in the #2 region (ch 36 to 64) when I use WZC or same netstumbler to display networks. I tried to uninstall/reinstall driver, tried to use the ralink driver and even a different usb600n, but the problem remains.

Check the INFs shows that all the drivers are trying to install as region #0 (36-64 + 149-165), but they are still displayed as region #2

Has anyone struck this and found a way to make it work again?

    Thank you.

case opened for 1 week to Linksys support, nothing... ill wait, did some more research and myself, using linux with the drivers adapted ralink (ISO backtrack4) via the iwpriv command to breath on the location of the channel in the fixed eeprom (Yes, it is possible...). He forced in region 7 (36-165) for region 5 for 802. 11B and 802. 11a / g (1-14).

I will not list the command specific here fear that people are going and eat their EEPROM memory (kids Yes, you can kill the card at all times), but for those who may need to do this, certain keywords would be "iwpriv e2p" and 'CountryRegion byte Offset' in rtmp_init.c (which is publicly available)

    Enjoy.

  • Error 2100 with disk SSD Sandisk on Thinkpad X61s

    Hello!
A month ago, I installed a Sandisk SSD in my Thinkpad X61s. At first it worked great, but then he started having the following problem more frequently:

All of a sudden the computer would freeze completely and indefinitely, or he would give me a blue screen. That was quite rarely. Now it happens right on start, after the office is responsible. This also applies when I start mode without failure.

The other problem is that he sometimes would not start at all, gives me the following error:
    ERROR

    2100: HDD0 initialization error (hard drive) (1)

My google search suggests that it is a common problem that many people have had to face. Yet I found no definitive solutions.

Some people have suggested that the problem may be due to a loose contact / SSD not properly seated inside the computer. This is certainly not the case for me. I opened the compartment of the HARD drive and SSD is sitting here as tight as a bug in a rug

Others have proposed an update of the Firmware of the SSD. In this case there is no such update to the SSD, I bought.

So here's my questions regarding other solutions:

    UPDATE BIOS

I currently have the latest BIOS lenovo-approved. This is the version 2.22.

It seems to be a BIOS not official that many people are praising called the BIOS of Middleton. It is available here:
    http://Forum.NotebookReview.com/Lenovo/459591-T61-x61-SATA-II-1-5-GB-s-Cap-willing-pay-solution-8.ht...
Does anyone have any experience with it? Any tips on how to install it or what to beware?

CHANGE OS FROM WINDOWS TO LINUX

I am currently using Windows 7. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see how a Kubuntu Live CD would work. I don't spend a lot of time in Kubuntu, but during the period where I was, didn't crash the system. So I was wondering if Linux has better drivers for SSD than Windows. Any thoughts on the issue?

(I must admit, however, that I * have * seen Linux users complain about 2100 error.)

Is there something else I should try?

I also had problems with a SanDisk Extreme in my X200s. essentially the same problems under Linux. According my research, Sandforce based drives don't play well with some laptop computer firmware (X 61, X200s), since the firmware will allow Sata Link Power (that is to say let fall the link to low power when not read & written). I'm guessing that when on AC this feature is disabled (always happes but not as often). Windows has a registery for this patch and Linux you can also turn it off. This isn't a real solution, even if it will help (because you still have to boot for the patch is taken into account). I had to replace my SanDisk with a Samsung 840 (disk password protection does not work on X61s or X200s for the Samsung however). • IdeaPad Z710 USB controller drivers? (Win7)

    Hello

I recently had an Ideapad Z710 and have installed a new copy of Windows 7 Professional on this topic. In doing so, I managed to destroy most of the drivers for different systems, but through this forum and helpdesk at my University, that I managed to do almost everything works as it is supposed to.

My remaining a flag and error with regard to the pilots is the connector for Serial Bus universal, he says "the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) »

Despite this, I still fully able to use usb, mouse, peripheral storage entries, etc.

Basically should what driver I download and run? I tried some that I got on the site, but they all said that my computer did not meet the minimum requirements when I tried to run them.

The hardware ID are, if that's any use:

    PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_8C31 & SUBSYS_397817AA & REV_05

    PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_8C31 & SUBSYS_397817AA

    PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_8C31 & CC_0C0330

    PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_8C31 & CC_0C03

    Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I think that my drivers for the trackpad are not complete, although it is usable, multi-touch controls (like the 2 fingers to scroll) don't funtion and when I downloaded the driver of Lenovo for the Z710 precise Touchpad, he said that my computer did not meet the requirements for the driver.

I managed to find all my drivers at this point. Most of them I found through extensive research on Google, but something that you can try (if the computer has an internet connection) is to go to the driveridentifyer site and run their free app (that's how I found the right touchpad driver).

The site seems a little shady, but I saw it referenced many times on this forum by community members of high level. Essentially, the application runs a check for what drivers you are missing and then spits out a Web page that lists the drivers you need with links, download if you have a free account to actually download.

I hope this helps! (Although I recommend that you get an antivirus running first, just in case).

  • No network work - computer laptop IdeaPad Z4070 and Linux Fedora 20

    Salam, Salvation

Currently, I am not able to connect to the internet using my laptop IdeaPad Z4070 using Linux Fedora 20.

The network device is detected as:

Rev10 Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller

How can I install the necessary drivers? and is there another Linux distro that works well with the laptop, instead of Fedora?

Help, please! I bought the laptop 3 months ago and cannot connect to net till now.

For those following and reading of this ... I installed Debian successfully after a format. Debian was chosen because it offers a realtek (package called firmware-realtek) driver.

  • Cannot boot from disc or USB on Ideapad Z710

I try to install Debian GNU/Linux on my Windows 8 Ideapad Z710, and I can not even my laptop to boot from an external support. InsydeH20 Setup utility, I have so far disabled Secure Boot, set the boot in UEFI, compatible USB Boot, Mode a PXE on LAN boot enabled and set my EFI boot to the EFI network order) 1 0 for IPv4, network EFI 2) 0 for IPv6, then (3) no other options) Windows Boot Manager. I'm not actually trying to boot from a network, I want to just start from the built-in DVD player or my DVD USB drive. When I boot with these settings, I get the error: network EFI 0 for IPv4 (...) initialization failed, and a similar one for IPv6, then it starts with Windows. Why I can't boot from DVD or USB?

Another thing I tried is affecting Boot Legacy Support and Boot Priority to first legacy Mode (with Secure Boot disabled) which translates my computer laptop startup in directly to Windows even when ODD USB appears first in the boot order.

Please tell me how to start on a Linux DVD or a USB on this machine! It's a major purchase for me, and if I can't install Linux on it, this laptop is completely useless for me. Please answer.

    Try this:

    1. fix the disabled startup.

    2. set start on Legacy Support Mode.

    3. start first priority inheritance

    4 Save and exit.

    5. stop computer.

    7. press on Novo.

    8. Select the Boot menu

9 select your USB key, and then press ENTER.

  • New Lenovo Ideapad Z710 friend refuses to install the touchpad driver.

A few weeks ago my friend bought new a laptop Lenovo Ideapad Z710 pre-installed with Win8. I "upgraded" to Windows 7 for him, as none of us can handle the new OS. Usually, I have no trouble to reinstall the drivers after installing a new OS, but for some reason that its touchpad driver does NOT install.

I use the official driver for his computer, apparently is a synaptics driver and it says it should work completely fine with Windows 7, but when I try to run the installation, I get the error "Synaptics Device Not Found!"

There are a few issues that I believe are related to the driver not being installed that can tell you something. When he closes the lid of the laptop and open it again, the mouse jumps over the screen constantly, and he can't use the computer until it restarts. In addition, he cannot turn his touchpad, which I suppose is a function that comes with the driver.

Any help or contribution is greatly appreciated, if you need more information, do not hesitate to ask.

    Thanks again,
    -Tyler

Are you sure the touchpad isn't a Synaptics touchpad ElanTech? If ElanTech, try to uninstall the currently installed driver. Then install the driver from the website. During the installation of the driver not to put a check mark in the box that says driver Synaptics install now.
