Location of bad router wireless

I bought a new router, Cisco Linksys E1200, about 2-3 weeks ago and it works great. My problem is that the location says im somewhere, I'm not.

I have an ipod touch connected to wireless internet routers and it keeps saying im in palm city. I updated the firmware on routers and he always says the same thing. How can I fix?

This has nothing to do with your linksys router.  There is nothing to fix on the linksys router.

You can try to unplug your modem from the power outlet for 30 seconds and get a new ip address and which may or may not help.

  • Modem router Wireless N upgrade?

I have a Linksys BEFCMU10 ver.2 modem which has served us for about 8 years.  I've recently updated our wireless n router, but have seen no improvement in the coverage area or speed.  The seller in Microcenter told me that my current modem was fine, but I wonder if I need to improve my modem to take advantage of the N WiFi feature.  Another thing, I remember when the tech our cable connected to the modem, it added a 10/100 switch.  Can it be purchased?  The research I did on the forums, it seems that I need a compatible 10/100/1000 switch for the gigabit speed.

I apologize for the basic questions, but I tell myself that if I want to learn I have well start somewhere

    Thank you!

It is not question of cause I don't think you have 100Mpbs subscription from your ISP. This modem is good for home use. You will get your your router Wireless N speed and that's only within your local network.

  • Linksys makes a Combo of Modem/Router Wireless N cable

Does Linksys router wireless n gateway, a combination router and cable modem?

Currently I have the unit combined for wireless g, but upgrade to wireless-n.

    Thank you!

I think at the moment that doesn't sell Linksys 802.11n gateways.

I generally recommend not getting the combined devices, but better to get two separate devices, a simple modem and a wireless router.

    1. you have a far greater choice of products for the router, and they are usually less expensive.

    2. in the event of the death of the router you can still have internet via the modem directly. If the combined unit dies, you are in offline mode.

    3. less functions in a more simple design makes the device and averages more stable and more reliable devices.

    4. you can replace a device at any point. For example, if you pass the ADSL or FTTH cable you can simple replace the modem. You may need to change the configuration on the router but other internet connection so that you can keep the router. Similarly, if two years from now, you want to get the router new generation wireless you can continue to use your modem (if it is still suitable for your internet speed)

  • WRT160N router wireless and speed Test

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could help me.  I've just changed in the old Netgear G router to a router cisco Linksys N.  When I'm connected wireless sitting next to the modem and the router of my speed test shows more than 20 on the download, but when I go up a floor in the House it drops at least 2 on the download.  I thought that this router was supposed to expand the range and allow more devices to connect wireless taken less bandwidth.  Is there something I can do to improve the speed in addition to spending my router wireless on the main floor where is most of the navigation on the internet?

Hahahaha WOW no no not the router to the modem worked!  I went from 1.5 on 15 on downloading downloading when I had about one foot apart from each other!  Awesome.  I have not been very high over the years!

Printer not responding not connections (wireless printer) is good and solid. I replaced my old router wirelessly with a router of valuation.  I had to plug it, but the printer does not respond now.

Is what brand and model of printer?

I do not work unless your new router has the same SSID and password wireless as the old. Consult your printer documentation to find out how to handle the situation. For example, some Lexmark wireless printers have a program called Configuration Utility Wireless in the Lexmark folder under all programs on the start menu that is used to set up the printer when changes are made to the wireless network.

  • Printer Hp6700: unable to connect to the router wireless D - Link DI-514 when SSID Broadcast is set to no.

HP6700 printer: unable to connect to the router wireless D - Link DI-514 when the router Broadcast SSID is set to no. My MAC laptop and HP laptop both work with the set SSID on no. If I change the router Wireless SSID Broadcast is YES, then the printer HP6700 can connect to the wireless router. I set up the printer it saying that the SSID and password have been, the same as both of my laptops, but it connects ever, unless I have change the router to broadcast the SSID. Help!

Have you tried to update the firmware on the DI-514?

You can also try to set a static IP address on the printer, and then assign the printer to the list of DHCP static in the interface of the router.
To give a static IP address to your printer:
-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') 250
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS. It's Google DNS. You can choose a different external DNS if you wish.
    -Click 'apply '.
Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that you remove and re - add the printer to your Mac.

  • No Internet access - network/router wireless connection problem

I can't connect to the internet after installing Windows 7 64 bit. I can see the router wireless/network from my computer, but it has sometimes limited connectivity or it says connected but no internet access. I used Windows diagnostic tools to try to fix it but it does not work, and my router connects without a doubt to the internet such that I now use on a portable computer that is on the same network. I would like to know if anyone else has this problem and if they fixed. I tried to change the physical address of the connection to the local network, but it didn't work, I guess because I connect via radio and no cable, and I heard similar stories on other forums that this can be a problem more common I suspect. Thanks in advance for your answer, and all the details you need I'll try my best to provide.

OK I finally got to work, all we needed was for me to download the latest drivers (Realtek 8185 wireless card) off-site and install in compatibility mode, and then he worked all of a sudden. I hope this will help someone suffering from a similar problem!

  • Cisco 877W router + wireless WPA

    Hi all.

I configured the part my 877W router wireless. Right now I use WEP only, but I want to configure WPA (with shared key before) for more secure access. I'm a noob with wireless and I don't have much knowledge about this configuration process / options.

Please can someone me the correct procedure to configure a work of authenticated with a simple key WPA - PSK WPA Wireless LAN (no beam)?

I was working with Web interface (option Express Wireless the wireless WEB application security) for setting commands not IOS CLI.

    Thank you very much.

Set security | encryption | TKIP + AES encryption algorithm

Set security | SSID Manager | Methods for 'Open' (only)

Check the 'required' box for key management

    Check the box for WPA

    Enter a key

As with WEP, keys on the AP and the keys on the clients must match exactly (case, spaces, everything).

    Good luck

  • WRVS4400N router wireless

    Hello

    Just a quick question,

What would be an acceptable number of connections a WRVS4400N router wireless?

I work in the it Department for a new society, and one of the offices complained that using the VoIP and make the transfer of large files are constantly a problem.  They are all connected wireless to the WRVS4400N.

I managed to vpn in and connect to the web interface of the router, and it shows that there are 30 devices connected wirelessly.  However, when people plug into the wall socket VoIP and data seem to work well.

I can't find any info on what a good practice would be for the number of connections to the router wireless.  There is no configuration of VLAN on it from what I can tell, that it is perhaps my next step, to separate the voice traffic and data.

    Hello Eric,

I checked the Administrator's guide and saw that the following listed 'Active WLAN Clients Up to 64 customer". So probably he could handle the number of connections so that he is there not a lot of traffic in progress, but if you have a ton of traffic being passed then more than likely that the number would decline.

I go ahead and get in the way of implementing VLANs to separate your VOIP traffic and DATA that should help a lot. Pay attention to wireless interference happening were also you can change the wireless channel (channel 1 or 11 are generally good channels to choose) to see if that helps.

What I would try check at least change the wireless channels to see if it makes someone else and I would like to start a program called inssider to check the area in an attempt to put a customer on a channel that almost nobody is. If this does not make a difference then you might want to go down the road to set up a VLAN voice and data.

    Hope that helps,

    Thank you

  • HPC8180 printer connects to the wireless network, after upgrade firmware to the router wireless

My HPC8180 has been wireless since I bought it some time ago.  I recently had to upgrade the firmware on my router wireless of Netcom NB9W and since then my HP will not solve for the wireless network.

I run the wizzard of wireless network on the printer, select the correct SSID and enter the WEP key according to the instructions.

    It will then not connect.

Print the summary I have says that it passes all except:

    No filtering = Fail

    Connected = do not run

Signal strength = very weak (which is strange because it is about 10 feet away from wireless router).

Other networks detected matching your network name (SSID) = No.

    Summary says:

    Network Name (SSID) altnet (correct)

    Address IP = not applicable

    Configuration source = not applicable

    Communication mode = Infrastructure

    Authentication type = open system

    = 64-bit WEP encryption

I have NOT activated the mac address filtering

    Any ideas?

Your router appears to be a DSL modem-router.  Those who can be difficult to connect to.  In addition, WEP can be problematic and is no longer a measure of security.  WEP can be broken in 10 minutes approximately with the freeware on the internet.

    We will do three things:

    1. replace the WPA or WPA2 encryption.  You can make your own password.  Do 13 or more characters, numbers and uppercase and lowercase letters.

2 reset the default settings on your printer network (configuration > network area).

    3. attach to the router in this way:

Sometimes the DSL providers have more control over the router like the printer.

-Unplug the phone line from the router
-Cut the power to the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn on the power.
-Go through the normal process of the printer connected to the device (wireless configuration wizard)
-Now to find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it in a browser.
-On this screen, you will find a tab management network, then on the left wireless, then the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you know what it is, set an IP address outside this range but not exceeding 254 (the last number of the address).
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Let the white gateway and DNS
-Finally, connect the telephone line, restart the router and the test.
