Matshita dvd/BD on XPS 15 only able to read discs from region of origin
I just bought an XPS 15 L521x, who has a player for DVD/BD Matshita slot. I have been using AnyDVD with other laptops to allow me to play all regions DVD/BD discs. However, it seems that the Matshita drives do not allow it. Before returning the laptop, which is also very nice, I wonder if there is something that can be done. For example, could I simply swap in another drive and would that void the warranty? Is another possibility to get an external drive and use it? If I'm reading software, regardless if there are two possible disks? I have to disable one of them?
Thank you
Fred
In the end, I bought an external USB DVD/BD drive. Problem solved! Improved visual quality of the Samsung product as a bonus too.

Matshita DVD RAM UJ850s ATA optical drive will not read burned media, running Vista
* original title - CD/DVD unit read not "burned" cd *.
Hi, there are about 6 weeks, I had to do a recovery because a virus in my PC, the problem is that now the optical unit reads no CD, it reads 'original' CD, DVD (original and burned) but not burned CD specially those who have programs on them, could be a driver problem, but so far I have not been able to solve the problem , and I m not sure the original driver are in Sony's site, or any other Web site.
PS the thing Burns CD and they can be read after that that they were "closed".
I have a VAIO VGN-N330FH, running Vista Home Basic 32 bit (Spanish), the model is a Matshita DVD RAM UJ850s ATA Device.
Hello
You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
correctly.Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.
Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.Several good info here:

Latitude D610 - able to read discs, but cannot burn
I have a laptop Latitude D610 I use for business purposes. Once a month I have to burn word and Excel files on a disc to send to our customer. Last month I went to burn and the drive is no longer burning the files to a blank disc. I tried several discs, I also tried to reinstall the drive. Today, I replaced the drive with a laptop replacement, we have on-site. I'm still not able to burn. Most of the time it will not detect a disk if the disk is empty. Discs with the media are read without any problem. Any ideas? I want to get this working so I can't keep my boss for burning the computer loan.
Latitude D610
Windows XP
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Dell Part #8W007-A01 (supplied with the machine)
Managers of device says its working properly
When I click on the drive with an empty disc, I get the message next - D:\ is not accessible. incorrect function.
All other discs with media work very well.

Hi, Virgil,.

2. you receive messages or error codes when you try to format the drive?
You can check if you are able to format the DVD in another computer.

UTL_FILE.get_line not able to read large files...
Dear all,
UTL_FILE.get_line is not able to read data from file. can you suggest me to fix this problem...
Here is my code;
declare
l_file_handle UTL_FILE. Type_de_fichier;
l_input_line varchar2 (6000);
Start
l_file_name: = 'abc.csv ';
l_path: = ' / u02/R12UAT/apps/apps_st/appl/XXSES/12.0.0/bin';
l_file_handle: = UTL_FILE. FOPEN (l_path, l_file_name, 'R', 32767);
loop
UTL_FILE. GET_LINE (l_input_file, l_input_line);
fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.log, l_input_line);
end loop;
UTL_FILE.fclose (l_file_handle);
end;
After reading a few lines I have a get the error;
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: digital or value error: character string buffer too small
I have to read data from file with UTL_FILE. Do not use SQLLDR
Thank you.
Kind regards
Ravi.
Your call to FOPEN() function specifies a size of 32K maximum line. When you call GET_LINE() without specifying the number of characters to get, Oracle will therefore assume you want to get 32K characters. However, your stamp, L_INPUT_LINE, is defined as VARCHAR2 (6000). That is, it is much too small.
The solution is to call GET_LINE() with the third parameter set to 6000.
BTW, you can also set a condition of release on the loop.

Updates in security plague devices on my Toshiba Satellite? Matshita dvd - ram uj-850 s can notrecognize the media . I tried to run Mats_run.dvd.exe and it cancels the installation of PowerShell and said run again later. I checked the registry for PowerShell and he's not here.
Updates are downloaded automatically but are installed manually. Microsoft.NET Framework 3.0 is installed. There are 2 hard drives usb, e and h. The internal hard drive is c and the dvd drive is d.
I downloaded PowerShell for English x 86, and it also cancels the installation. This facility will write on e drive unless the e reader is currently offline. It seems to me that installation should go in one of the program files. No matter what.
I heard Japanese factories to boost productivity by having models of foremen (also known under the name of straw bosses) in the break for whacking room. MicroSoft is expected to provide a game that allows you to the storm of MicroSoft when you feel frustrated. Laugh for everyone.
I tried the registry filter entries delete and it does not correct.
The drive reads some DVD. The one I use is readable on other computers and was burned at the origin of it. This drive is able to read the DVD right here.
DVD with files on them are not read.
I cleaned the drive with a DVD-rom cleaner.
Audio_TS, Video_TS structure is recognized on a DVD so that the reader is able to read the DVD. It seems to be a Windows problem.
Combustion works very well.
Hey, Arch.
I suggest uninstalling the drive in Device Manager and restart the computer.
If this does not help, you can try to uninstall all your computer disc burning software, if you have the means to reinstall, and then reinstall the drive.
The Powershell do not install cannot be bound.
I suggest to run a full system scan after you have updated the antivirus definitions.

Driver MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ8E1 error
I have a brand new Acer Aspire 571 Windows V3 8 & the first time I tried to use the DVD player, to rip a CD, nothing happens. I checked the devices & printers in the control panel and the device 'Aspire' shows a yellow triangular exclamation point (need to troubleshooting and status driver error). I troubleshoot the device & advises I reinstall when I apply this fix all I get is found problem MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ8E1 has a driver problem. Not fixed.
I have had only the laptop for a few days & have spent a lot of time to transfer & sorting my library top via an external drive, so I am reluctant to take it back to the retailer. I had much rather fix the drive but need help!Thank you in advance, a forum user first.[Moved from comments]Hi Delphine,.

Driver Matshita DVD Ram UJ8B0AW
My machine: ASUS A43S i5 (bought in August 2012)
Original OS: Windows 7 (now upgraded to Windows 8)
Problem:
(1) after upgrading my DVD does not work
(2) is unable to read any kind of CD/DVD software or audio videos
(3) cannot even see the device in Windows Explorer
(4) if I insert a disc in the DVD it drive will only spin for a few seconds and stop
(5) ran all the tests available diagnostic built inside Windows 8 as reinstall, hardware test, trouble shoot, fix auto, bah bah bah. Tried every thing as available as possible AND MY PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED. I tried everything already!He said only "Matshita DVD Ram UJ8B0AW has a driver problem" and that it has NOT been FIXED.
I downloaded the latest driver from ASUS and Matshita and reinstalled manually and it is still DO NOT SET
Even though I can start from ground zero and reinstall using F12 initially upwards and insert a window 7 or 8 disk, I fear my DVD will not move and cannot reinstall Windows no matter what.
What can I do?
Try to remove the GEARAspiWDM entry.
To remove the GEARAspiWDM entry double-click UpperFilters and, under value data, delete GEARAspiWDM > OK
Create a system restore point beforehand and restart the computer after.
However, if you have an application that uses the GEARAspiWDM, like iTunes, just install the latest version of hardware drivers (4.020.5) and that no changes to the registry:
http://www.GearSoftware.com/support/drivers.php
Updated speed drivers should also correct the mistake.

my laptop has a MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-850 s ATA Device. but it does not open a cd/dvd. Why?
Hello
1 recently, you did changes to the computer?
Method 1. Uninstall and reinstall the cd - dvd drive.
If the drive is not listed, remove and reinstall the existing drivers.
To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
b. click System and Maintenance, click System and then click on Device Manager.
Note that if control panel is in Classic view, double-click System and then click on Device Manager.
c. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
d. in Device Manager, expand CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, right click on the device CD and DVD and then click on uninstall.
e. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK and restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, the drivers will be installed automatically.Method 2. The firmware was updated.
I would also recommend updating the firmware of the CD - DVD drive.
You may need to contact the manufacturer for it.I hope this helps.
