"A required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. If you have a floppy drive, cd, DVD or usb flash drive please insert it now.

Now, it's not to do with the dvd but actualy need the driver for the SATA controller drive, I checked the download page, but I can't find (the only driver chipset's usb 3.0)

Now before anyone jumps and said 'just restore', I can't that HP didn't give a CD but rather to put the recoevery on the disk THAT DIED HARD, EXCELLENT WORK.

Have been able to start the computer without the need of the boot disk, I took the opportunity to make a backup with the new dvd.
After having done that, I checked to see that everything was safely on disk only to find it's blank - nothing show.  I put the disk in a laptop and all backup files were there.

I tried different types of discs, DVD video, music video,
other backup discs and discs of recorded and all text are empty.
I also checked in the hardware Manager - device working properly - no warning - tried to update driver [Microsoft 5.1.2535.0] but the one I have is - this - no driver for restore.  Tried the troubleshooting and not help.  Uninstall/install any help.  Lite we confirmed, I got the correct driver.

I returned the object under warranty to the supplier - I have been informed that the dvd was defective - new one sent.

This has had the same problem as that returned.  NO2 has been collected and even once has been tested and found to be defective - new one sent - same problems - No3 collected and have the same problem as the others.  [Has been said that the next [4]] would be tested before shipping.  No. 4 did not operate either. The box has been opened so presumed it had been tested.

Upon receipt of each new article I did the following -

    Hello

You can Google DVD decoders and find several good ones. One is usually supplied with the system
    or the CD/DVD drive.

You are right that sometimes it's easier to re - install Windows however most of these CD/DVD problems
can be fixed in a step or two. Sometimes, nothing works except a re-installation.

    Hi, James:

Most likely the media you use is incomplete or a bad burn to the DVD if you have the installation media of the ISO download on Digital River.

There is no missing drivers. W7 has all the drivers needed to install on your model.

Follow these instructions and see if you can get W7 installed in this way.

I would use the MS tool USB ISO.

Make sure you absolutely get the entire ISO file when you see the download complete message.

Sometimes, he reports the download is finished and your ISO file is a lot smaller that what he said was downloading.

Use the W7 pro product key you have.

Use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

    clint341,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft Answers forum.  We cannot guide you more precisely by changing the BIOS settings that the BIOS settings are specific to your motherboard.  However, most (if not all) parameters of the BIOS have an option to restore the default BIOS (sometimes called "default opitimized").  It may be an option in the menu that you highlight, then press enter or it can be assigned to an F key and States at the bottom of the screen, press F? for the default settings.  I hope this helps.  If you are still not able to reset, check with the manufacturer of PC for more information about the BIOS. • WHILE the error is absent INSTALL WIN 7 I AM facing ISSUE is to say--a required cd/dvd drive device driver

    Hello Sir

I recently brought lenovo s20 nootbook laptop with win8.1. now I want to change it for win 7 but at the start of the process, I am faced with the question IE a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing error.

    Hi Kothalanka,

We are there to answer your concern about the installation process of Windows 7 .

Here are the following reasons why a required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing error message occurs:

    • The installation DVD is removed during the installation process.
    • A bad quality DVD has been used to create the installation DVD.
    • The speed at which the installation DVD is burnt was too fast.
    • The DVD drive cannot read media.
    • The ISO file is corrupted.

To resolve your concern, we suggest you use one of the following methods, depending on your situation:

    • Burn the DVD to install at a slower speed.
    • Best DVD quality to create the installation DVD.
    • Update BIOS firmware for your DVD player.
    • Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool allows you to create a bootable USB key and then use the USB flash drive to install Windows.

If you still encounter the same error after doing one of the above resolution, here are a few troubleshooting methods that you can do:

    • Run the DVD on another computer to determine if the DVD works properly.
    • Test your DVD player using a Windows installation DVD official.
    • Attach the ISO file to a virtual machine to verify if it is corrupted.

For more information on how to resolve the error a required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing , click here.

Do not forget to back up your files by using a storage device externally (for example USB, external HARD drive) before installing Windows 7 , in order to avoid any possible data loss.

Let us know how it goes.

    Kind regards.

You can use the mark as answer button, if this post responds to your request.

Probably the installation media itself is corrupt. If your Alienware is preinstalled with Windows 7, then you should be able to reinstall using the recovery partition:

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

To restore the image while preserving the data files:
    Turn off your computer.1.
Disconnect all devices connected to the computer (such as USB key, 2 printer and so forth) and remove any recently added hardware in-house. NOTE: Do not unplug the AC adapter cable.
    Turn on your ordinateur.3.
When the Alienware logo appears, press several times to access the 4. Advanced Boot Options window. NOTE: If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft Windows desktop; then, shut down your computer and try again.
    Select 5. Repair your computer.
Select 6. AlienRespawn and backup emergency in the System Recovery Options menu and follow the instructions on the screen. NOTE: The restore process may take an hour or more depending on the size of the data to be restored. NOTE: For more information on AlienRespawn, see article 353560 at support.Dell.com knowledge base.

If the recovery partition does not work:

Step 1: Download a copy of Windows 7:

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

Step 2: Perform a custom installation, see Windows 7 section of the following article how to perform a custom installation:

How to: perform a customized Windows installation
