missing Help Center and support

I recently met a problem after trying to download the drivers for your laptop. This happened on my desktop. After you download anything, I usually run malwarebytes to check for problems and run an antivirus scan. When I tried to run malware anti-malware bytes, it wouldn't start. I tried to update and the update would not be completed. The icon disappeared from my office and the program itself no longer appears in my programs. So I tried to run McAfee and it won't work. It happens to the analysis page and stalls at "undefined %. So I tried to access help and support the machine to roll back to before that I downloaded the drivers and help and support is no longer there. When I click on help and support, I get this message... Windows cannot find helpcenter.exe.

I tried to use my xp SP2 disk and repair or reinstall the files, and it does not work. I also tried helpctr - regserver nothing helps. I also downloaded IOBit malware fighter and ran a scan and it came back negative.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried to go to the system restore by using an alternative method?

It is best to download the drivers from the website of your computer manufacturer. As stated in another discussion about this HERE "the reason is that the OEM typically customize drivers for optimal performance on their particular hardware."

Other options to solve the problem would be to take the initial configuration computer or reinstall Windows. BE WARNED, a factory restore will erase all data stored on the C:\ drive so don't forget to backup everything you want to save on an external before restoring. Make sure you have the installation CD and the product keys for all of your installed software (e.g., Microsoft Office, etc.). Don't forget that you need to download/install the Windows Service Packs and all other Microsoft updates and hotfixes after you run PC Restore.

Two of these measures are pretty drastic unless you have good backups.

Considering that you posted this on the Forum of Virus and spyware, & if you think that it is also a malware involved in something you have downloaded, you might get some diagnostics running on the malware removal Forum helps SpywareHammer and have trained personnel at the foot of software removal malicious you through newspapers of diagnosis and a cleaning. They do not use any remote access but will advise on what you can do. Please, I beg you, do not do all the additional analyses, install software or use other tools, until an analyst can advise you on the next step. Please use the same username you have here it. Help is free, but you will need to register and follow the instructions of validation. Don't forget to check your email and click the link they send you to confirm your registration. The instructions to display at the top of their malware removal Forum will inform you where to download DDS and how to run a scan to view the output information.

In addition, there are other options at the top of this forum. Some are free; some require a fee. Please use only a single resource. It can be counterproductive to have too many people trying to help. Good luck!

    Hello

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Try to set up your computer in a clean boot state, and check if the same issue occurs.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

  • Help and Support of problem with Windows 7

Am I right in thinking that help and Support is not available in offline mode with Windows 7?  Because one of my problems is a difficulty with an internet connection, I especially need help offline and Support, but it does not work: 'research' find nothing and the pages that appear are not connected to my question.

    Hi derrybyrne,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers Community Forums.

Windows 7 help and Support as a built-in feature in all of its editions, you can access it in offline mode by pressing F1 or by clicking Help and about Internet Explorer.

If you get the search results not related to your question, then you must be connected online to get help with your problem help and Support.

Alternatively, you can ask a question to Microsoft Answers concerning the problem you are having with your Internet connection in the section Networking, e-mail and put online .

Alternatively, you can also use Troubleshooter in Windows 7, which you can access in Control Panel of-> items-> troubleshooting Control Panel

    Hope this helps you.

  • In XP, when you try to click on Help and Support Center, the message to start the service

Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit - my help and support center is missing. When I click, it says start the service named 'help and Support '. How do I do that?

    * original title - lack of help and Support Center *.

Thanks for the help :) Also, when I open my computer or any other program like the trash, the bar on the left side of the screen with the options (i.e., in the trash, which allows me to empty the tray) isn't here... Is there anyway that I can get it? I thought it was something to do with the help and support center, but even after that I got help and assistance, that sidebar is not there...

For this bar, open desktop (or any other folder). Go to tools-> Folder Options and in the general tab, check the show common tasks in the option box of records under the tasks column. The bar appears.

    I hope that helps!

  • Cannot load help and Support Windows as file registery HELPCTR. EXE is missing how restore?

Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/App Paths is missing HELPCTR. EXE.  Want to know how to reinstall HELPCTR. EXE.

    First see if it works:

The Center help and Support sometimes get broken with overzealous cleaning and there are a lot of things to 'try' who sometimes work and sometimes they are not. Sometimes people drop everything simply and never reuse Help and Support Center, but it can still be repaired.

Do you now or nave already used third-party applications on your system where the product description includes descriptive as sentences:

cleaner, mechanic, detective, doctor, heal, optimize, clean up, tune up, speed up, set towards the top, compact, compress, faster, power, boost, boost, gum, muncher. guaranteed or all that has an icon that looks like a key, the key or the screwdriver?

We will restore some things in the registry who sometimes kill himself by malicious software or, sometimes, these cleaning programs.

Before making any changes to your registry (although I hope that this update), make a copy of your registry with this free and popular tool:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

Then go to this page WWW of Riou (thanks, Ramesh).

    http://WindowsXP.MVPs.org/startmenuhelp.htm

When you click the file startmenuhelp.reg on this page with your browser, you will see a bunch of text that
is the registry information that you want to apply to your system.  It seems daunting, but it's not so bad.

Press Ctrl + A to select all the text, then press Ctrl-C to copy the text to the Windows Clipboard.

Click Start, run, and then in the box, type:

    notebook

Click OK to open a new Notepad file.

Press Ctrl + V to paste the information that you copied into the Windows Clipboard in the Notepad file.  Save the new notebook
file on your desktop and the name of the new file something he can hold, as:

    startmenuhelp.reg

Quit Notepad and double click the file startmenuhelp.reg on your desktop and answer Yes to
the query about adding information to your registry.

Test your help and your support now, then restart and test again to make sure that the changes 'stick' with a reboot.

You can delete the file startmenuhelp.reg to your desktop.

If that does not do it, we just reinstalled the whole shebang (help) and Support.

  • The guide to "Help and Support Center" installed for Windows XP Media Center 2004 is largely outdated and must be updated.

I have version Dell of Windows Media Center 2005 (service pack 3) installed on my XPS 600 desktop computer.  The installed Help and Support Center guide date for use with Windows Media Center 2004 and has never been updated to include most of the changes system over the past six years. Dell or Microsoft should be responsible for the update of the guides or instructions that are installed on the operating system. Not only that, but Media Center and Movie Maker themselves also grossly neglected as updates are concerned.
The currently installed Help and Support Center guide is missing details on significant changes to Windows applications and utilities.  I rely on up-to-date information to make changes to my OS applications and utilities.  There is a lot of information in this guide that is incomplete and misleading and therefore not very reliable.
I have an OEM of Windows XP version and I wonder if there is an update of current or replacement for this system guide and who is responsible for the update.

Nothing in XP will be updated. The current Windows operating system is Windows 7. XP is already three iterations of the windows behind. A great substitute for the XP search feature (which was never very good) is Agent free Ransack.

    Hi Anna1298,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

    Method 1:

Step 1: Start in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, you can put your system to boot (in normal mode) to solve the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to configure the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 provided in the above article.

Method 2: Try the SFC (System File Checker) scan on the computer.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Method 3: I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: During the scan of the hard drive if bad sectors are found, the scanner tries to repair this sector, all available on which data may be lost.

  • Get help to use local help and support Help Center for XP sp3

Help and support center does not open, msg says help and support service does not work, but check indicates it is enabled, but error msg says 1083, the program does not work?

To get ideas that are not a wild-goose chase or a waste of your time, you should try to post the exact error messages you see and not paraphrase them.

For example, you see a message like this?

Windows cannot open help and Support because a system service is not ongoing enforcement.
To resolve this problem, start the service named 'help and Support '.

As long as the Service is not disabled (it can be manual or automatic), if it is not executed, it should start automatically as you open the help and Support Center.   It doesn't have to be set to automatic to work.

You have checked and your help and support is not disabled, no?  If it is disabled, you will surely get that message, so it must be either manual or automatic.

Where and how you see this message 1083 and what the program that does not work?  I don't understand that part at all if you need clarify the part.

In addition, since the MS Answers forum still does not prompt for any information system when a new question is asked, you would be better served by answering a few questions:

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If the help and support used to work, what do you think might have changed since the last time it worked correctly?

You have now or have you ever used third-party applications on your system where the product description includes descriptive as sentences:

cleaner, mechanic, detective, doctor, heal, optimize, clean up, tune up, speed up, set towards the top, compact, compress, faster, power, boost, boost, gum, muncher. one click fix, new, intuitive, errors, stop crashes, stop errors, improves, saves you money, risk free, guaranteed or any third-party program that has an icon that looks like a gear, pinion, key, key, whirling arrow or screwdriver?
