Missing or damaged cartridges message

I just replaced my black cartridge with a new hp cartridge in my photosmart all-in-one printer 7520, but get a message that "one or more cartridges are missing or damaged.  Seems to be the black which is the cause of the problem.  Now what?

Try following the steps in the link below, as clean the contacts of the cartridge and reinstall it

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03379185

That solve it? If not, is the cartridge still under warranty? [there should be an end date of guarantee written on the body of the cell.

    Hi BobbyBaby,

I'm sorry, you get an error message with your cartridge.  Sometimes there is a problem with the electrical connections and this can be fixed by rubbing and replace the cartridge.

Here is a document to check that you are not missing anything.

I hope that this clears the error message for you.

  • Missing or damaged cartridge on Photosmart C309g

The printer display indicates that a certain cartridge is missing or damaged, but if I remove another cartridge, the first cartridge is accepted and the other cartridge is missing. I replaced all cartridges and was able to print test pages, then I got the error again. All cartridges are full, but still I get the error messages. When I managed to print test pages, the printer status is displayed on my PC showed that all cartridges were full, but now when I get the error messages, the status display shows all cartridges almost empty (apart from the missing cartridge, which is empty).

I tried all the suggestions on the pages of HP, but nothing helps! I have not yet replaced the print head, but I doubt it will help.

    Hi @Gjedlicka1

Sounds like the cartridge and the printer does not communicate. I suggest to remove the cartridges and contacts metal bit wiping on the cartridges. Also take a look inside the printhead to see if there is any obvious damage where the cartridges sit in.

Here is a link to a document with instructions for troubleshooting (that's for a different model of printer than the one you have, but the recommended steps are the same): http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04313139

    Hope this helps, good luck

  • C309g: C309g. The printer display indicates that a certain cartridge is missing or damaged.

The printer display indicates that a certain cartridge is missing or damaged, well, once I changed every 5.

I bought this printer in Greece - Europe. The ink cartridge is there code 364. Bought 5 of all here in Australia with the code 564. Can't do nothing for 2 days now. Any help

    Hi Tony,.

HP customizes some products & cartridges to meet the specific needs of local customers.  During your initial printer installation, the printer is automatically set itself to accept specific to a country or a region cartridges.  If you take your product from this country to another country, you might not find cartridges with the same number on the label as your original cartridges.  These cartridges will work in your product, even if they seem to be compatible with it.  If you buy cartridges that you believe are compatible with your product and then try to install them, you pouvez see one of the following error messages:
  • Ink cartridge appears to be missing or damaged

I have a Photosmart Premium C309a printer.  I just installed a magenta cartridge and this message appears.

    Hi Castletonway,

I see that you have recently replaced your Magenta cartridge on your HP Photosmart C309a printer and now get the error "the following ink cartridges (s) appear to be missing or damaged. (symbole carré rose) refer to the printer documentation ", I understand your frustration and I would you start here:

"Ink cartridge problem: following Print cartridges appear be missing or corrupt"Error Message is displayed on the computer.

Please complete all the steps in order and let me know the results, I'll watch for your reply.

  • Photosmart wireless B109n-z showing "ink cartridges above appear to be missing or damaged.

Hello, I have a problem with my photosmart printer (wirelless B109n-z) now (on Windows 7) and I could do with some advice. He started by printing not really properly-there were only a few extremely weak lines, so I opened the lid and makes sure that the ink cartridges were properly-they came out and put in the new - but then the error message came that the cyan ink cartridge is missing or damaged. As it was low on ink anyway I replaced it with a new one but the message was still there. I went through all the steps on the site of HP to address the problem, but it is always the same and have never used a not genuine HP ink cartridge. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Jen

If you did not start the steps in this document it.   In step four parts 11 and 12, there are four fingers touch by cartridge.  Make sure that none of these electrical contacts are misaligned, if we're folded its place gently back in its place.  (Compare contacts faulty cyan with those on the cartridges adjacent as described in this post.)

  • Ink cartridge problem C310a: the following ink cartridge appears to be missing or damaged.

Error message on the printer for the second time in a month. Ink cartridge problem: the following ink cartridge appears to be missing or damaged. (Blue ink) Refer to the printer Documentation. This error message came in January so I replaced the blue ink cartridge (I use genuine HP cartridges) it is now once again, so it takes the printer not the cartridge. There is nothing about it in my "documentation" and nothing relevant came in "troubleshooting."

Hi there JanePr, welcome to the Forums!

I understand that you see an error message on your Photosmart C310a on the ink cartridge is missing or damaged. The print head may have a problem that could trigger this error. I have a troubleshooting guide that I recommend that follow you, however, if you have already tried no steps, ignore them, as the replacement of the cartridge.

  • Once I turned on the computer I got the following message: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or damaged. System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys

I just download Microsoft Office 2010 Professional and then turns off the computer with XP operating system. Once I turned on the computer I got the following message:

    Windows could not start because the following file is missing or damaged;

    System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys

You can try to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD

Select 'r' in the first screen to start repair.

Then, I started the computer with the Original installation CD and press 'r' by following the instructions. Then, I received this message:

    1: C:\WINDOWS

Which Windows installation you want to connect?

    (to cancel, press enter)

    What do I put here?

You must first start on doing something so USB drive a bootable Hiren.

    Here's how:

I'll recommend you use Hiren boot CD (it will go also to a flash/USB stick/USB).

It's good for you, because there a lot of tools more on that on the Recovery Console CD of XP, doesn't your administrator passwords and you will not have to futz round in your BIOS, if any afflicted system has SATA drives - Hiren can deal with this.

You will have a bunch of great tools that you have in XP... Recovery Console an editor of the register, adjustable password and an office that resembles Windows XP so you will feel comfortable flexibility.

You can easily copy your personal data (documents, pictures, music) to an external drive.

A system of work, start by downloading the latest version on Hiren Boot CD from here (it is a substantial download but worth it):
http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/    (look to the bottom of the page).

Unzip the Hiren to a folder where you can find it.  There's a Hiren. BootCD.15.x.iso that you have to then.

Hiren was instructed to make a bootable USB drive that you can use, but it takes you first burn the .iso to a CD image file and a few other measures, so I suggest another way and here's how:

Download RUFUS 1.3.2 or whatever the latest version is here (read a few things on the page so you can learn more on this subject):

    http://Rufus.AKEO.IE/

I will warn to be careful that don't accidentally format you a hard disk - don't forget your USB key is in and know what the drive letter!  This part makes me still a little nervous, so be careful.

Launch of RUFUS and all default values should be fine for the device, choose letter of your USB drive, quick tag format FAT32, it if you want and in the Format options box, click on the little icon that looks like a CD and a window will open.  Navigate through this dialogue to point to the folder that contains the Hiren. BootCD.15.x.iso that you have unpacked above and the box should change to say the image ISO (RUFUS includes the Hiren ISO file).

Double check you have the right device selected in the top (NOT you HDD) click Start, acknowledge receipt of the warning and let it finish (it will take a little time) it copies the files.   Hiren ISO is also a good size.

When RUFUS is finished, it will say "DONE" at the bottom.

Put the USB in the afflicted machine and reset/reboot and regardless of the button you press to get a boot menu where you can select the USB drive as first boot device (it's F11 for me).  If you do not see a start menu choice, you will need to set your BIOS to boot from USB first instead of the HARD disk.

When the Hiren menu displays, choose the XP Mode of Mini and it will start loading (slowly from a USB key) and finally, you should see a windowsy looking for office.  You should recognize the part and feel uncomfortable, but it is not your office - the office of the Hiren!

Remember: you do not start on your hard drive, - you started in the Office of the Hiren.

A way to check the drive for errors is to open my computer and right-click on your afflicted player and choose Properties, tools, error, check checking now... put a check mark in the boxes and then start.

Sometimes that works, then you can also click on start, run and in the type box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window and enter the following command (assuming that XP is installed on your C drive)

    CHKDSK c: /r

This disk check can last a long time (perhaps several to several hours) depending on the size of the volume, the amount of data on the volume and what the disk check finds to do.  You may need to run more than once.
