  • HP Office Jet Pro 8720: Problem set up and launch the new printer & ink cartridge installation

    Two questions:
First... it takes a LONG time for the computer to open itself.
Then, when he did initiate... I opened the section of ink cartridge
to install the ink & transport of ink would not come to the Center.
SO... I stopped the printer to start again... and now, the

It lasts for more than half an hour.
HELP... This is a new printer & I can't open.
    Thank you kindly.

    Hi @paulallah,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support for a solution to your printer problem.

I understand that you have a printer of HP all-in-one OfficeJet Pro 8720 which took a long time to initialize and is now stuck in a mode 'check' cartridges after the reboot it because transport would not move to the Center. I would like to help with that.

I would start by doing a Reset of the power on the printer.

If that fails to solve the problem, you might want to speak with HP Technical Support as there may be a hardware problem.

You mentioned that you are using a Mac running OS X 10.5 Leopard or more. The HP all-in-one OfficeJet Pro 8720 printer is only compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion or later.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

Indeed, if this help you to achieve a solution please click the 'accept as Solution' and the 'thumbs up' buttons down below in this message.

  • HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus false paper jam message

I am ready to throw this printer out the window! I'm tired of false paper jam messages. The printer will be fine for a few weeks, then... another message of jam that can take hours to clear.

I: reset the printer, looked for jams, checked the latest firmware, shaken and even moved the print cartridge support to the right (which is surprising solved the problem several times). The only thing I have not tried is a ceremony of purification of incense.

Come on HP, stop telling us to try all of the unnecessary procedures. There is a sensor in the machine that is faulty. Fix it!

Instead of throwing out the window, I'll put it on the sidewalk and invite passers-by to take their frustration with a hammer. It would make a great video!

Additional info: if I'm able to run "align print heads", who often corrects the situation. A little more evidence that there is a sensor on the blink.

28/08/14: personal support HP said that the problem I encountered was very likely due to a defective sensor.

I just sent you a private message. If you are unsure how to check your messages on the forum this post, has instructions.

  • Office Jet Pro 8600: after Windows update, not the box tools or utilities 8.1

Hi, I've updated my software to 8.1.  Had to do it by hand because it does not work automatically.  You have the printer to work, but I don't see the Toolbox or the utility Panel.  Not sure what you call him, but he gave me access to the computer to the printer, Scanner and Fax.  This has been so helpful.

It seems that this could not be included in the update for win.8?  If this is the case, it will be one in the future?  I'm really bad without him.

    Thanks for any idea,

    Kristi

    Hi Kristi,

To get the utilities ensure you have the latest version of the software installed.

First, press the keys X and Windows Logo on your keyboard, and then click programs and features.

Type HP ito the search bar, uninstall HP Officejet Pro 8600 base software of the device, if such exist, then clost programs and features dialog box.

Then download and follow the tool below to reinstall the complete features with the printer Assistant software HP and any related utilties:

  • I can't boot after installing the latest win xp updated system - missing or damaged/system32 hal.dll

I have win xp and that you have installed the latest updates 7 system - now I can't start.

    I get the message:

Windows didn't start because what follows is missing or corrupted /system32/hal.dll

I don't have a CD system - which can do? everything I read said to alter, copy, etc., but since I cannot start, I can't do it all.

    Help me please, thanks

XP trying to tell you that it cannot find the file.  It is extremely likely that the hal.dll file is really missing or damaged (XP just cannot find it).

You should not have the Windows XP installation CD for this problem.

It is very unlikely that the manufacturer will be able to you provide a XP installation CD, but contact them if you wish.

What would you do if YOU were the manufacturer?  Communicate with yourself?

The instructions in this link to replace the hal.dll file are bad, bad, bad.  If you follow them, you will need to replace the hal.dll file, but it will not be the correct hal.dll file.  There are 7 possible hal.dlls on the Windows XP CD, and check out the generic hal.dll file won't be one you need unless you run a virtual machine.  Clearly, the technical support engineers have never actually solved this problem.

Notice that the thread is not marked as 'response' by the original poster, but by a moderator of the Forum after a period of 5 to 10 days of inactivity where some MSE posted a link to a few articles in the KB (this is how things work here).

You should start by making a bootable CD of XP (no XP media required) Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r first just to be sure of the file system NTFS is not damaged.  Then see if you can start after that (maybe it won't).

THEN, you must use the Recovery Console to rebuild your boot.ini file.  I would like to rename the file c:\boot.ini first then you don't rebuild on top of the afflicted (this part is missing from the article).

I can't understand why Microsoft support engineers seem unable to display instructions to make a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton and Spybot.
AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Here's how to make a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

If you still have the same problem (likely), then the value rebuild your file c:\boot.ini as article says here:

  • Office Jet 8610: Device appearing is not in the device tab connected hp after entering the claim code (for the second time)

I got the claim code to register my hp device connected for the second time and on both occasions, it doesn't have to be displayed in the devices tab.

I tried a disconnection and logging into my account, but this has not solved the problem.

I tried the two Chrome Version 39.0.2171.95 (64-bit) and Firefox 31.0 on a MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.9

Printer is an Office Jet 8610

Web services are enabled and the printer is connected to the network.  I created the computer print jobs and they have successfully completed.

Ray, great call!  Your 'physical' word helped completely.  I decided to go forward as if it were a paper jam and... That's what it was.  Problem solved, thank you very much.

  • Paper jam false messages Officejet 8600 N911a

Started receiving messages about 2 months ago.  It's happened to every 10 days to 2 weeks, but now it is happening more often.  The printer is used in general one or two times a day.  The message always appears when a print command is sent from the computer or you press the copy button.  In most cases, no paper changes or additions that have taken place since the last time that the printer was used.  Or changes in the ink.

I have more attention to messages that come on the computer screen on the printer.

Six messages to the point on the computer.

    1. Introduction to jam.  Tells me to remove the double-sided printing module.

There has never been a jam it.

2-5 lack of ink cartridge (each message appoints a different color)

All of the ink cartridges are installed properly - and all the cartridges HP 950 and 951 appropriate.

    6. lack of printhead failed

Print head is not absent, and it works fine most of the time.

The only way I can go forward is to turn off the printer.  I get a message on the printer displays asking if I'm sure I want to do this (or something like that) and I proceeded to turn it off (that I don't have the choice).

I wait a minute and turn it back on.  He me bawls to have turn it off then proceeds to realign the cartridges and wastes my ink, paper and time.

I searched a lot of small pieces of paper in all the places that the travel document but never found any.  Please note that I can print without incident and an hour later I have this problem.  Once I went through the steps of the printer works fine until another week or day.

When the problem occurs, it's ALWAYS before any paper began to move either from the toolbar State or feeder.

    Any ideas appreciated.

    "Hi lions99,

Depending on the cost I might prefer to have an authorized service HP person make the semi full reset, rather than risk bricking the unit.  I have a problem, however.  Using the "Partner Locator - United States" I can't find such a repair centre.

Don't forget that my printer is an Officejet Pro 8600

First, select the product category: Printers & Multifunction

    So far so good.

Then select a product family: Officejet.

I have an Officejet Pro, which is not a listed option.  So I accept Officejet.

Thirdly, select a product.  This SINGLE product is the Officejet 9100 series.

I have no other choice, I accept.

I live in Lafayette, Indiana 47904

I started by putting in a 10-mile radius and received the following message:

Sorry, we don't have a match for your search of partners. Please click search again and try to increase the search radius or using a different criterion.

I increased the distance until I reached 3000 miles (anywhere in the continental of the United States) and got the same address.

If I used the "HP local partner in my region" who had no option of mileage, I still get the same message.  Maybe it is because I don't have the right product, but I used what was available, hoping that a repair center works on my model, too.

I do not want to ship it anywhere, so if you can not direct me to a repair center that I might be willing to drive to, I'll need to do the procedure myself.  If this is the case, I will contact you to confirm/clear upward by a few points on the process.

I appreciate the help that you have provided so far and any additional assistance that could be provided.

    David ".

It would be difficult to just walk up to a repair center and get HP to replace or repair the unit. Your best option would be to call HP@8004746836 and see which option they have that they will give you the same statement I made in the product Monograph.

I suggest to call HP and see if they can help you by phone that might be easier to find a Service Center for repair near you.

  • HP Office Jet J6480: high load or work around the Board in an HP Officejet J6480

My HP Officejet j6480 isn't all recognize the high bypass tray of the page. I would like to know how to do so that he can feed on this top. So are there specific instructions to put a sheet of labels badge or business card labels in this sandbox?

I tried to load sheets of labels into the tray of ordinary inside and crunched printer just to the top of the label.

    Hello @klsurmi,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are having problems loading labels in HP Officejet J6480 all-in-one printer. I would like to help you today with this problem to feed paper. On this particular model of printer paper for printing a single sandbox there. It is the main tray at the bottom of the printer. The 'top' I believe you are talking is only used for faxing, copying or scanning automatic document feeder. Below, I will give instructions for properly loading paper in the tray of your product. Once you have confirmed that your labels are properly loaded we will test print in order to confirm if the problem is resolved.

    Step 1: Load the paper:

    1. lift the output tray.

    2. Insert the paper with the side to be printed down along the right side of the status bar. Make sure the stack of paper is aligned with the right and rear of the tray edges, and the height does not exceed the line marking in the status bar.

    3. slide the paper in the tray to fit the paper size you have loaded.

    4. lower the output tray and pull out the tray extension.

    -Source

    • For the labels, you can load up to 100 sheets of labels in the paper tray at the same time.

Once the labels have been loaded properly, please print a test to confirm if the paper feed problem has been resolved. If the problem persists please let me know that the size and weight of the paper label is that you use.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!
