My external monitor detects my portable Boring, go to sleep

I have an old HP laptop.  I tried to connect it to an external monitor (HP S2031). The monitor... .se to sleep!  How can I make the ext monitor work?

Hello

Have you made changes before the start of this issue?

Method 1: Check the power settings if you chose the option to put the laptop to sleep when you close the lid.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307873

Method 2: How to solve the problems of hibernation and standby in Windows XP

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/907477

If there is flashing on the monitor, amber and green lights indicate that the monitor is in mode 'sleep'. Turn the combination of keys specific to your laptop to switch the video from the portable computer to your external monitor. These key combinations may vary. This key combination activates / deactivates the display between the internal laptop monitor, the external monitor and dual monitor mode.

    Hello

I just bought Tecra M5 for use with my external NEC monitor. However, regardless of the configuration, I try I get no image on the monitor. The LED on the monitor indicates that it receives the signal from the laptop but the monitor remains black pitch. The monitor works obviously very well, I just disconnected from another laptop.

PS When I press Fn + F5, I have no options to choose from, unlike the other FN +... combinations. I don't know that it should be everything, but it is perhaps worth mentioning.

Also when I select only 'use a view' of the nVidia control panel and select my NEC monitor in the list, the monitor turns on and the light turns green, but the screen is still black. Like I can't accept changes the output switches to the computer screen after a few seconds.

I think you should test with the preinstalled Toshiba operating system.
After that the laptop was recovered, connect the external monitor and use the FN + F5 in order to detect the external display.

  • Satellite L30 - 113 - external monitor detects no signal

    Hi guys,.

A little help needed here. I have a laptop Satellite L30 rather old and I have an external Benq G2222HDL monitor. I want to connect the monitor to the laptop, but I encountered some problems.

Given that the laptop only has a video plug D - sub and the monitor has only a DVI cable, I bought an adapter. So now the DVI cable going into the adapter and the adapter goes into the socket D - sub of the laptop.

The problem is that the monitor is always 'no signal detected '. I have set up the extended desktop display properties, but still nothing.

What you think, where's the problem?

    HI sbi85,

Usually, you can switch between monitors if you press the FN + F5 key combination. So, if you connect the monitor using this key combination. You see something on the screen?

These adapters do not always work properly and I'd rather you buy a monitor with D - Sub port too.

But in General, make sure that the devices are connected before you turn them on. At first power on the monitor and select the appropriate channel, then turn on the laptop.

  • My Aspire V7 582PG cannot detect external monitors

I recently bought an Aspire V7 582PG, put in a new SSD and then installed Windows 8. The laptop works well, except that it cannot detect external monitors (in Control Panel, I get "Has not detected a different view".) I tried with 2 monitors (different models) that are known to work, via HDMI and VGA.

I thought it might be a driver problem. Device Manager > 'Graphics cards' show 'Display card base Microsoft' and 'NVidia GEForce GT 750 M. The two drivers are up-to-date. 'Monitors' shows 'generic PnP monitor", which is also updated.

Then I went to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers to download the driver for my model. The only one who had the relevant air was:

    MonitorELANTECHThe HID monitor drivers1.1.5

    Installer here: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Monitor/Monitor_ELANTECH_1.1.5_W8x64_A.zip?acerid=635...

But when I unzip and run the Setup window closes a few seconds; I think it hangs, rather than installing correctly.

    Any suggestions?

My Acer tabs they need additional drivers to recognize the HDMI port.

I think having unzipped in a directory and open a DOS window with admin rights and run the application inside that. At least if an error occurs, you should be able to see. Sometimes just doubleclicking opens and closes a window so fast that you do not see the error.

  • I had to do a complete reinstall of windows 7. I am not able to detect an external monitor

It just doesn't appear in the monitor Panel. I clicked on "detect", but it does nothing. It seems that there are several small installation pieces missing. Perhaps there is a driver for the detection of external monitors? I connected it HDMI cable and HDMI screen. I don't know what else to try. More information at random which may or may not apply: although I tried to set the resolution of the screen, my screen is not just look right at me... things are not the size I'm used to etc.

  • Windows 7 does not detect external monitor!

Hi I have a huge dilemma!

My laptop does not recognize the external monitor. Earlier in the day, he detected the external monitor and perfectly well worked through to extend, in doubles, you name it. However, after restarting my computer, I was unable to get the external display to be recognized...

I use a laptop Lenovo y470 and nvidia gt 550 m 64-bit. I've updated the grahpics card but in vain...

The way I have it plugged into the external monitor is using a hdmi cable to connect the laptop to a monitor for a DVI-HDMI adapter. Basically, the dvi port became a port hdmi with this adapter.  its dvi - d.

I think that restarting the computer developed a few updates and the graphics card only connects via VGA or HDMI and DVI not? I'm not sure... I'd love any idea of a solution.

    Hello

If you do not see an option named multiple displays in your display settings, then Windows isn't detecting a second monitor plugged into your desktop computer. Or else, it does not detect an external monitor plugged into your laptop. When Windows detects this monitor, it will appear in the drop-down list next to the screen. If you do not see that what listed there, try click on Detect.

Make sure that the monitor you want to extend your desktop is turned on and plugged the correct video port on your computer. You may also need to select the correct source labeled on the controls of your monitor to ensure that the monitor is using the correct video port. For more information, consult the manual of your monitor or go to the manufacturer's Web site.

  • Windows 7 does not detect my external monitor. Why? How should I do?

Good, some basic information. The laptop at the origin of the problem is an HP laptop.  In other circumstances, I wouldn't care on this issue. But the screens on both of my computers cell phones don't work (they are Sun and incredibly difficult to see, barely visible) and I use an external monitor so for use.

    In other words, I used.

I have Windows 7 for one of my laptops, and it is already fully charged. But, I tried to connect my external monitor, it did not work. I tried to use the projection screen, pressing [FN + F4]and pressing on [FN +] other F keys, as well. Of course, I thought it was weird. So I looked for answers on the internet (on my other laptop), nothing works. Most only have problems with the monitor not working not properly; mine is not detected at all. I went to the display settings (have to squint shine with a light and bend my laptop screen in different directions), and it showed only 1 screen, the main screen. I tried to restart, stop, unplug the monitor and in him plugging back and turning the cable around. I know that the problem is not the cable, as I use it right now.

I also tried updating the drivers, but for one reason, the laptop now refuses to connect to the internet as well. So, now, I have a laptop completely useless with a black screen, and I can't put my files on it because of this black screen. Not that I'd be able to use it for something else, anyway.

  • HP ENVY 5830 HDMI / DVI and external monitor not detected

I have a HP Envy 15 with the ATI 5830.  I want to connect an external monitor.  The outside is a Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD and has a DVI (also has HDMI, but poor quality when used from a PC). My laptop has only HDMI.  When I use a DVI - D HDMI converter / my laptop does not detect that there is an external monitor.  I've lived all my settings and updated the Bios and video drivers.  I'm missing something. Appreciate any help.

Hmmm... Looks as HDMI / DVI - D adapter for me, like the HDMI port problem works well insulated... I don't remember any problems, I've heard of HDMI to DVI - D and untimely on Envy 15...

  • ThinkPad E550: External monitor blinks constantly during the recharge of portable

When I'm running my Thinkpad E550 and I connect it to any external monitor with a VGA cable, the external monitor blinks constantly as the external monitor can be used to do any significant work.

However, when I remove the charger, the constant flashing stops and the external display could be used if the screen still flickers / flashes for about 4 seconds every 50 minutes or more.

Unfortunately, using the laptop on battery power all the time is not healthy for the battery of the laptop but it is the choice that I have if I need to use an external monitor.

I tried to use an adapter 2 components for connect the monitors but I still feel the flicker until I remove the charger.

Does anyone have a solution? Thank you.

  • MBP: monitor detected but no image except by VGA

I have a MBP of Mid 2012 running latest El Capitan.

When I connect to an external monitor, it is detected correctly in views (exact name, resolution, etc.), but the monitor doesn't detect any image from the portable computer. I tried the DVI - D and DisplayPort with various cables and monitors with the same result, but a picture appears if I connect to VGA. It started in the past week.

The built-in display does not work normally.

Looks like a hardware failure in the computer DisplayPort connector laptop, as the pins are worn or something?

    Any other ideas?

    Hello cameronreilly,.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community Support from Apple. Use an external monitor everyday with my MacBook Pro, so I know how useful it can be, and I will do everything I can to help. You were on your way to a very good start with resetting the SMC and the NVRAM. Here what I would recommend is starting up from your Mac in a test user to see if the problem is specific to your user account or if it is systemic.

To do this, you can open your system preferences and select «Users & groups» Then, click the icon of a padlock at the bottom and enter your password to unlock the options. Click the plus sign (+) to add a new user. Don't forget to make the administrator user. Once the account is set up, log on your current account and in the new test user. If the monitor is not detected in the test user, I recommend reinstall the update by using the recovery mode. This will not delete the files from your mac. This article will guide you in this process: How to reinstall OS X

  • External monitor only up to 720 p using HDMI

I recently bought a Samsung curved (S27D590C; 1080 p). My setup is a MacBook Pro 13 "(mid-2012), connected to the screen using an adapter 3-in-1 (mini DisplayPort to VGA, DVI and HDMI). When I use the VGA, I can get up to 1080 p. For some reason, I can only 720 p when you use the HDMI cable.

The HDMI cable is probably good as I am able to get a 1080 p using a Windows laptop without adapters.

Additional information: by using the same configuration (MacBook + 3-in-1 adapter + HDMI cable), I am able to connect to another TV which has a native resolution of about 720 p.

Finally, connecting with the HDMI, my MacBook is able to detect the monitor but the monitor does is display a blank screen.

I would really appreciate everyones help, because this is my first purchase of external monitor. Thank you.

    Hi Danne18,

Looks like you can't get good resolution on a monitor, and you get just nothing to display on another using your MacBook Pro. I would use the following article to help you get that resolved. There's a lot in there and some of it is basic, but it should lead you to getting this problem:
