Hello, BahaaJ

It may not seem obvious--after all, this thread of 2010 is, apparently, more precisely on the problem that you are facing, and you've probably found this thread via a search for one or the other parameters of the problem (perhaps a search for "Network discovery" or something similar?)- but I think you will find that it is almost always a better idea to create your own community for any particular issue thread You can have. That's because the new questions will always come to the attention of the Forum (Microsoft employee) or community (volunteer expert) while discussion moderators, posts and assignments to old threads (such as 2010) do not necessarily automatically come to the notice of moderators - or the 'Community' Stars that often offer some of the best answers to questions from the Member of the community; many of the former use community tools to look for questions specifically so that they can provide assistance.

I also believe that how a question is asked can affect the response that we receive; to this end, I find that

the Wiki article created by the author of Wiki, moderator of the community and MVP ZigZag3143 (MS-MVP), "effective questions get help faster!", and article KB555375 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base "Suggestions for a question on help forums" are both useful.»»  A prolem as you report, I would say

from your own new thread @ page of the answers community to ask a Question-Windows category (be sure to select the right operating system for your computer in the drop-down "Version of Windows", while I would suggest selecting "Web and networks" in the drop down list 'Headings Windows').

That being said, if you have found that perform the troubleshooting steps described by

H Shinmila in his post on March 3, 2010 on this subject did not help, you might want to take a look @ Edgardo Ton February 22, 2011 post Microsoft Support Engineer in the similar thread "Network Discovery will not or enabled.'." "  There is also Microsoft official troubleshooting articles related to his position (mainly written for Vista, but largely as well) applicable to new versions of Windows.  It is also worth noting that what Greg Blevins published on page 1 in this thread we are currently (January 15, 2014 - the post before yours) on its damaged with Windows Firewall policies is very common source of problems such as you are facing. If you do not have the option which he used to import working strategies exported from the machine to another, of work, you might want to try repair Windows Firewall of Tweaking.comtool (part of their Windows repair software (all-in-One)); all has been updated to 2.7.1 v. but apparently the firewall tool is only still v. 2.7.0 this writing.  The tool can be downloaded from this page: repair Windows Firewall 2.7.0.

Good luck!

  • Network discovery will not turn on

I run Windows Vista. Last January I couldn't use my home network. I found this discovery of the network, file sharing, etc. have been disabled. I tried to turn them back on in vain I tried all the stuff. Except one! When I disabled the Windows Firewall, the discovery of the network, file sharing, sharing public folders, the share that is password protected, printer sharing BUT NOT switched back. But it is unwise to remove the firewall. Does anyone know a way to fix this? PS, internet works fine.

    Hello

    1. what exactly happens when you try to enable network sharing?

    2. you get any error message?

    3. what security software is installed on the computer?

When you create an exception or open a port on a firewall, you allow a particular program send information to or from your computer through the firewall. Allow a program to communicate through a firewall (sometimes called unblocking) is like opening a tiny door in the firewall.

    Hello

    Did you change your computer?

    Method 1:

Based on the network location you choose, Windows affects a State of network for network discovery and opens the Windows Firewall ports suitable for this State.

Step 1: We recommend you to check if the elements of network discovery are enabled in Windows Firewall. To do this, try the following steps.
    1. click on start, type firewall and then click Windows Firewall with advanced security.
    2. click on rules of incoming traffic in the left pane and select the (SSDP-In) network discovery and network discovery (UPnP) - in the list.
    3. click on rules of outgoing traffic in the left pane and enable network discovery (SSDP-out) and the discovery of the network (UPnP-Out) in the list.
    4. apply the changes and check the result.

For more information about network discovery, see this link:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-is-network-discovery

Step 2: Check the status of the following services: browser, TCP/IP NetBios support.
    1. Click Start, type services.msc and press to enter.
    2. from the list of services, double-click the service computer browser and TCP/IP NetBios support.
    3. change the startup type to automatic and start the service.
    4. apply the changes.

    Method 2:

Now we go ahead and try to enable the discovery of the network on your computer and check for the issue.

Network discovery is disabled by default for public networks. Changing a network location type to home or work is the best way to turn on network discovery. To learn how to change a network location type, see Choosing a network location. To enable discovery manually, follow the steps below.

    To turn on network discovery

    1. open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then click Network and sharing Center.

    2. If network discovery is off, click the arrow button expand the section, click turn on network discovery, and then click on apply. Need administrator permission if you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

I also suggest you turn on discovery of the network link and check.

No more - network discovery is now off and I can't next turn to the. This seems to be a well documented problem with a lot of different slkutions, what work. The most common advice given is to verify that the following services are started and set to automatic - they are!

    Computer browser

    DHCP client

    DNS client

    Function Discovery Resource Publication

    Network connections

    Network location awareness

    Remote procedure call (RPC)

    TCP/IP Netbios support

  • Network discovery does not 'on' when selected and recorded, all the answers?

I have some very annoying problems with my new network set up.

My network consists of a Belkin router type "n" (model F5D8236-4v2), the main PC with windows 7 32-bit OS, a wireless laptop XP, a machine of the PS3 and TV (model KDL 32EX403 =) Sony Bravia - hard wired to the router.

I want movies stream from my PC to the TV. laptop and PS3.

My PC (the principal server) see the laptop, TV, but not the PS3. He can see the files on the laptop and the laptop you will see the PC it cannot access any files or folders on the PC.

The TV can not see the PC, laptop or PS3.so no films can be heard of these components on television.

I tried everything that Microsoft and several forums have to offer, but to no avail.

One thing I noticed when trying to find a configuration to mitigate the problem, it's that when you go to "Advanced sharing settings" and try to change the setting of 'Network discovery' on IT, and then save this setting, it is up to the STOP after trying to save.

Please can someone help I'm quickly running out of hair to pull.

    Problem solved.

Solution is the same as in the thread linked to above, except that the file to modify is autorun_network.inf instead of autorun.inf.

    1. Open autorun_network.inf in Notepad.  This file is located in the folder root of the installation CD or the folder where you extracted the driver you downloaded from HP (if using the CD, copy the entire CD to a temporary folder on your hard drive to allow the edition)
    2. Search for "[SystemRequirements]."
    3. Add the line 'MinUsbReady = 3' anywhere in the section [SystemRequirements]
    4. Close Notepad and save the file
    5. Run setup.exe, select install network and it will ignore the USB control

Thanks to Mr. Richard Wang for the solution.

  • My documents mapped network drive will not work...

    Hello world

Here is the problem I am facing lately...
I have a Win2008 R2 Server with some shared folders... Now on my Win 7 PC, I did the following...
Mapped to a network drive on cmd as: net use x: \\server\folder
Next: I have changed my location tab the folder My Documents (My Documents C:\Users\Current) the path to X:\ and recorded...
After that, I went back to cmd and removed the mapped drive: net use /y /d X:
FYI: I have a kind of software that maps the letter x: on my win7 pc whenever I connect to him so he can accesed from different people. 200% working...
I created a new user to the server, so the \\seerver\folder will be shared and accessible only from this user...
Results: Location on my documents tab not shown... redirect works DO NOT... the files are now saved @ C:\ and not C:\users\current my documents
    Any suggestions...?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Network Drive will not refresh, I use 2 machines to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and 1 Windows 7 Professional 32-bit machine on a wired Ethernet network.

I use 2 machines to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and 1 Windows 7 Professional 32-bit machine on a wired Ethernet network.

The network works fine with one question. When I add a new file on the same machine and try to access this new folder from another machine the new folder does not appear. I have to disconnect the network drive of the machine with the new folder, and then map a new drive. When I map the new drive the new folder appears in Windows Explorer on the second machine.

It's very frustrating when I want to add a file attachment to e-mail from another machine and it does not appear until I disconnect and re - map the drive.

I hope this all make sense. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? I don't remember this problem when my network was XP Pro machines.

    Thanks for your help.

    Thank you for your help.

The I work around this problem is to do step 1 and step two, as you suggest.  I haven't restarted the computer though - I will also try it.  I have also not tell abled my ESET NOD32 Antivirus software either - I'll try that too.
The network drive I'm seeing 'change' on does not refresh by itself, when I press F5 or go to view/update.
Search Google indicates that this refreshing a network drive issue to show a newly created folder, etc. is a long time, Windows 7 problem.
I would like your ideas on the potential problem of Windows 7 found on Google.

  • Satellite L300-135 see WLan network but will not connect

Well well, (new laptop) initially, it worked with my BT hub at home... then decided to not stop working - receives no signal or response from the router - even though other laptops in the House can connect without any problems

and now the Wireless does not work - IE. I can see the wireless connection but cannot connect.

I don't know that the wireless is not cut (until someone suggests)

I looked for more up-to-date drivers, but nothing seems to work.

    Help, please!

    Hello

First of all, you should check if your wireless network card is correctly recognized.
I mean to check in the Device Manager!

Your wireless network card must be the Realtek 802.11 g (RTL8187B)
Download and install the latest driver WLan in the Realtek page.
    Then update the BIOS.

    Finally, reconfigure all WLan settings.
In the Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab card WLan disable energy saving settings and check the other parameters that may affect the connectivity.

I have two furniture stores that are run on a windows sbs2012. Recently, both off my all in printers are down in the same week. The first was at the location where the server is actually housed. I bought a HP Officejet 8610 and managed to put in place without problem a lot via a wired network connection. I was not able to get anything to print from my main software called profit systems. I can get things to print to the shared remote drive. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but even if connected as long as administrator I get a error that reads "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator. I put it up as both just and redirected network and it shows it as ready in the State, but after it clears the queue that nothing prints. I checked firewall settings and all with HP is checked on. I'm pretty computer but I am full of ideas. Help, please!
