No SATA in BIOS on Z60t option

I wonder if anyone can help. I want to install an SSD on my Thinkpad Z60T, so I need to be able to switch to AHCI mode.

However, there is no "Serial - ATA" option in the BIOS. It should be in the Config, but SATA configuration is not listed. I am running the latest BIOS for the computer laptop (1.24). Someone at - it ideas?

The Z60 - series is based on T43/R52, which both also have a SATA controller but also a SATA IDE bridge.

The BIOS so don't have AHCI option.

    Hello

My HP Mini (Win xp home ELCPC HP) can not load in windows because there missing files during startup. So I decided to repair the windows.

However, I have some problems to load WIn XP Home CD SP2 (not ELCPC HP) at the start. I used closure of IDE - USB hard disk by replacing with CD-ROM instead of hard disk because HP Mini has no optical drive

The CD has been loaded, but when halfway incoming to the windows installation, I got the BSOD after F6, pilots and BSOD loading to the 'Setup starts windows..".

The error message was something like this:

"Search for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard disk or hard disk controllers. Check hard drive are correctly installed and configured. Use CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

I browsed the site and found this recommendation to change from SATA HDD to IDE in BIOS. Strange thing is that I don't see this option in the BIOS. There is nothing a lot of option in the bios. I could only change the boot sequence, tool running, put in place under tension the password. That's all.

No idea how to change the SATA to IDE hard drive in HP Mini 110? I would really appreciate your suggestion.

I was wondering if AHCI was enabled by default, because there is no option to enable/disable in the BIOS. My laptop is a hp pavilion 1d46x with BIOS F.46 g6.

    Thank you

    Oliver

    Hi, Oliver:

Yes, AHCI is defined by default in most, if not all, of recent years HP consumer notebooks.

You will find only the possibility of changing the mode of SATA device on HP business laptops.

  • Dimension 8400 SATA in BIOS settings

I have 4 SATA drives in the PC now.  RAID AUTOdetect/AHCI SATA operation is an option. -SATA 0 to Vista, SATA 1 to Win XP, SATA 2 and 3 a RAID 0 with Win XP. Using the Boot Menu (F12) I am able to start in one of the 3 systems. I wish to break the RAID0 and know that I can do in the Bios Raid (CTRL + I) or use the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. I like to keep the option of using the RAID at a later date, but for now, I want to remove it. My question is when I break the RAID that I need to change the SATA operation option in BIOS and if so what? or do I just break the Raid and remove the hard drives and hope that everyting will start correctly.

I would appreciate help on the because that I do not want to do any more re - installs operating systems. Thanks in advance.

  • D10 bios, no ahci option?

Not short, I have no ahci option in the bios. Only compatible mode and enhanced mode (non-ahci). I have active test to about 135 MB/s with ahci and Intel matrix installed on the previous system, in that it is an installed drive. Installed in the d10 I get just shy of 90 MB/s, which is about the speed, I'll when this disk was used without ahci & matrix intel installed before. Information on the motherboard are sparse. The brief manual covers only a few options in the bios. Any help, PLEASE.

In fact, I found the solution. AHCI will be visible and available with raid disabled on the controller intel. No ahci option at all on the lsi controller, but I didn't see much variance in performance of single disc between the two.

  • In the BIOS boot device options

    Hello

I want to use my USB to be bootable since my laptop Winxdows XP.  When I go to the BIOS to change the settings,

    the Boot Options available are:

    Startup CD-ROM (ENABLE)

    Boot disk (ENABLE)

    (DISABLE) internal network card boot

    BOOT ORDER

    USB disk on key

    USB floppy drive

    CD-ROM ATAPI CD/DVD drive

    Portable hard drive

    USB hard drive

    Network card

Please indicate which of these Boot Options should I 'ACTIVATE' and

that the boot ORDER should I choose to be at the top: -.

    1. If I want to boot from my USB key USB

    2. If I want to boot my Portable external hard drive

    3. If I want to boot from my CD/DVD Rom

    4. If I want to boot from my laptop

The "boot" of Word to say 'start' in language computer, right?

So if I chose to boot from my USB key, my laptop cannot start to load Windows XP because it normal would be more until I go back to the BIOS to change the setting?

Why cannot it not auto answer to the user's choice to start the Windows?

BTW, what does "Starting the internal network card" means?

    Please notify.

    Thank you

    glemel

To see if you can boot from a USB key, you must go into your BIOS and look at the boot order.  If you see "USB stick" in the list, then you can probably - but it should be placed in the order before the drive hard to make it work.

If you want a boot disc/USB drive for repair purposes, I highly recommend the free Hirens Boot CD.  This CD comes with a bunch of diagnosis and repair integrated tools.  If you can't fix it with this CD, it cannot be fixed without having to reinstall Windows.  Of course, this is not Microsoft.

    Download Hirens: <> http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/ >
Don't be fooled by the fake download links.  The correct link is a file .zip downstairs in a light green rectangle with a drive icon.

There are instructions to create a Bootable CD and bootable USB Thumbdrive:

    Hirens USB Flashdrive Burn: <> http://www.hirensbootcd.org/usb-booting/ >

  • S3-391 bios - few modifiable options

When I arrived the S3 Ultrabook last year, I was able to enter the parameters of the bios and make changes. More precisely to device boot order and set/clear bios passwords. Have a bios password that was rarely used easily lost. I managed to clear the bios password according to the Guide of Service Aspire S3 MS2346.

I can now access again the bios settings. However, it only will allow me to set the time and Date, and a HD password. All other options are disabled, including the ability to use F12 to select a startup disk. My OS is pretty messed up right now so I need boot from a USB key and reinstall.

My bios version is 1.15. The 1.29 upgrade is possible, but only after I have a working operating system.

So is it possible to reactivate the bios options to change? Specificially, enable F12 boot drive selection?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

[link removed to offer third party manual stolen from maintenance site]

That's all what I am able to offer.  I see no reason why a BIOS normally flashed would expose these issues.

We suggest to contact technical support in your region for further assistance in this matter.

  • HP 350 G1 - create a usb bootable BIOS - all the options disabled

    Dear useful people,

I want to update the BIOS on freshly bought G1 350 HP notebook from F.11 to F.12 - who has not only installed FeeDOS. That's why (on my Lenovo), I downloaded http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66501-67000/sp66979.exe, HP Notebook System BIOS update, to create the bootable USB key for updating the BIOS. Now, after spending the first steps and make choices that exactly, I want to do, I get all the options disabled.

After a few hours of trying different things, all ports 4 USB (2 x 3.0 and 2 x 2.0), 3 different USB key I gave up and turned to you

Why I want to update BIOS: install Windows 7, because now he stops at a point of this CD/DVD drive driver is not found and must search for it. On windows, it was written that the BIOS update can help.

    Good luck.

Try to burn a DVD too...

  • update BIOS z620 - 5 options, which is correct? (They all look completely different)

I have two z620, win7 running Enterprise Edition.

Both had initially McAfee disk encryption (IT mandatory), and now we have been asked to migrate to BitLocker.

On the first z620, it worked fine.

The second z620 gives the error: "the TPM in this PC could not be activated.

Apparently, this is due to an older version of BIOS.

"Msinfo32" on the two z620 running from a prompt BACK shows:

    J61 v03.69, 25/03/2014<-- good="" bios:="" this="" one="" let="" me="" upgrade="" to="">
    J61 v02.08, 17/10/2012<--- bad="" bios:="" won't="" let="" me="" switch="" to="">

    Search on itrc.hp.com and descent (z620, Win7) company shows * 5 * different selections for z620 BIOS.

And... None of them "look right". in what their version numbers look like nothing like 'v03.69' or similar.

The closest entry is '3.88' but... He says it's only for Europe.  * beep *.

I (attached) a screenshot of the 5 selections below.

I read many horror stories (in this forum) on PC starts rained, when the update of the BIOS 'wrong' is applied, so ideally I'd like to get a copy of v03.69 (because I know that works), but apparently it is no longer available.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

Version 3 Rev.A.88 June 19, 2015 is the version appropriate for your system.

It supports is European and International. In my understanding, which is just an indication of languages supported.

  • HP ProBook s 4530: Missing RAID in BIOS option?

Short version: storry Long runs, I installed a 32 GB msata ssd in a laptop HP 4530 s to activate technology Intel Rapid Start in order to start and run more quickly. (I already did this on a Dell laptopp and know how to do it).  I installed all the drivers from neccecery, but when I went to the BIOS to set the SATA RAID mode, the option wasn't there.  He showed only IDE and SATA. I read on the forums of verious it may be possible that HP has disabled this option.

    Is this true?

    I do somethig wrong?

Is there a way to activate it?

Long version: after that I bought a 23 gb msata ssd and opened to the top of the laptop, I noticed that HP do not solder the socket to the motherboard msata... the space is there but the plastic bushing is not.

After buying a HARD Drive Caddy and a Msata to SATA Adapter, I replaced the optical drive with it. Kicked upwards and the ssd showed and it works. but when I wnet in the BIOS to change the SATA RAID mode, the RAID option was missing.

Yes that's exactly what I was going to suggest. The regular mechanical drive 5400 RPM in the optical drive adapter will be purely for storage. The SATA-I connection is fast enough to play audio and video, etc. If you do something like video editing, encoding or Photoshop which requires a fast disk access do the SSD.

    now what should I do?

    I do not know.

I have only slipstreamed on a CD.

I will say this however, you should be able to boot, XP has to load all the files and it should crash at the point where the dialog box indicates "Setup starts Windows.

If you don't even get that far, something is wrong.

Install XP using your XP installation CD and use a USB FDD and install the driver Intel Series 7 in this way. It's like I always do.
