  • IDT Audio Codec time Sound speakers but not with headphones on ENVY DV7 series laptop

I bought my laptop not more than two months ago. Its perfectly played through my helmet literally the day before yesterday.

Only two changes have occurred since then, first of all I accidentally plugged my headphones into the external microphone jack, then I updated the 'Music' for Windows 8 PC application.

After my sound stopped working. I restored my PC to a restore point dated before its no longer works in my helmet, however resonates once again that in my speakers (when my headphones are disconnected). When I plug my headphones, sound no longer plays in my speakers but no sound from my headphones either.

How can I get audio to play through my headphones?

Product name and number: Envy of HP dv7 Notebook PC C2h74UAR #ABA

    Operating system: 64-bit Windows 8

    Error message: None

Changes: 1) update "music" app for Windows 8

    (2) accidentally plugged in headphones and external microphone jack

    Hello

    Try the following.

First of all, download and reinstall the Chipset driver at the following link.

    Chipset Driver - Windows 8

    When reinstalling, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

IDT Audio Installer - Windows 8.

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you're done, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio with headphones.

    Kind regards

  • Sound does not work with headphones

I have to attend an online presentation. We have checked all the settings of the sound card, but all I can do with my helmet is talk, but I can't hear anything in my headset if someone speaks. I need to first unplug the headphones to hear anything in the boxes of two speakers. I bought a new headset, but that did not help. I was looking for some drivers etc but can't find anything. Anyone know what I need to do to talk and hear the other participants at the same time with my helmet?

    Thank you very much

    Hello Nicci

You already end solution? I put t know which model of laptop, you have, but they all work on the same path. Please check the volume control if it has disabled mute box (control volume and waves).

In device manager there is no problem with the sound card, it should work properly. Check please properties of sound and Audio devices in Control Panel. I'm sure that some settings is not set correctly.

However, it does work with headphones.

    Hello

Hmm. You can hear the sound using headphones but you can't hear speakers that well it looks really a speaker problem, but it s really strange that both speakers are dead at the same time

In your case I would remove the sound card driver and would update with that of the European driver Toshiba page.

  • Audio problem NB100 - pregnant no sounds, with headphones, it's ok

    Hello

    need help, please.

I have a brand new Toshiba nb100-10y, but have no sound - without headphones. To say my speakers no sound.
OS: XP Pro SP3, Device Manager Winndows is ok, do not have any yellow mark exclamation. And as I said, with headphones, it's ok.
I use the factory drivers and their default settings with the bios 1.90.

Someone has an idea? (Or I need to find any place of service...)

    THX,
    AoL

    Hello

If you can use the headset then it would mean that the audio driver is working correctly.
As I m wrong not the NB100 does support the Realtek sound card.
I think you should have got a Realtek HD audio Manager in the control panel.
Check the option in the Realtek HD audio Manager and make sure that all controls are set at the top level.
Input/output Audio, you can find the option and could test the speaker output.

PS: you can use the new Realtek audio driver directly from Realtek page.

  • No sound with headphones [cannot]

I started my pc a few days ago and the origin of the problems.

First of all, the only sound that worked was with phones while on the internet, it did not work without phones, it did not work in a video game with phones.

So I found a solution on the internet, (somewhat), what it did was make my speakers have sound, but cut my phones.

So again, I sought another solution, and I found these:

Set as default device phones. (He is not set them as default value).

Uninstall the IDT Audio and restart. (It is reinstalled and it still does not.)

Select each devide reading and do not allow not aplications take exclusive control of the devide and restart. (Nothing)

My laptop is HP Pavilion dv6 2190, and I installed the 2 drivers on your site containing the AUDIO work.

    Still nothing.

PS. Wait a second... I went to see the drivers for my pc on your site and... I discovered that I downloaded the drivers for

DV6-2090ep! But I can not find dv6-2190ep, what the hell?

    Bob, welcome to the forum.

Here is the Support page for your computer.  Download and install the driver and let us know if this helps.

  • Sound does not come through headphones

I hear through the moniter speakers no problem, but do not work earphones and microphones plugged into the right Tower.

    Hi calummurray,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. Have you tested the helmet on the front and the back of port?
    4. You are able to hear the sound from the computer's internal speakers?

Make sure the headset is not connected to the line (headphone) jack of your sound card or computer (unless you want to be listening with headphones rather than speakers). When you connect in the headphones, most computers automatically cut the sound to the speakers.

See the link below and run them the troubleshooter of audio playback, check if it helps.

  • Latitude E7440 - sound does not come with a helmet

    Hello world

I have a laptop Dell Latitude E7440 8.1 Windows running. I had problems with no sound coming with headphones plugged in the headphone jack (its only comes through the built-in Laptop speakers). I tried several fixes including:

-Definition of headset as default playback device (my laptop groups speakers and headphones together, is not possible to choose one over the other).

-Remove the battery, now hold the power for 30 seconds, turn it back on

    -Update Realtek Audio driver

-Uninstall the Realtek Audio driver (and deletion of files), and then restart the computer for the native audio driver is used.

I had the most success with the help of the native audio driver (after deleting and uninstalling Realtek). However, when I do this, I have from both headphones and speakers of the laptop. This will work for a day or two, then I'll start to have no sound from the headset again (despite running the native audio driver).

I don't know if it's a hardware or a software problem. I don't think it's a hardware problem, since I am able to get the headset to some working hours. Are there new ideas or advice? I'm debating getting a USB adapter for my helmet, but I don't know which would solve the problem if it's a software problem.

Thanks for the help in advance!

I'm debating getting a USB adapter for my helmet, but I don't know which would solve the problem if it's a software problem.

The usb sockets are very expensive and me would be worth the risk that it might not work. You could test the hardware failure (or repair the software if it's a software problem) by resetting the laptop back to the factory setting original, but for many people it is worth some money to try and avoid would do that.

Usually when the headphones are not detected by the driver from Realtek but are when you use the native driver, the solution is to completely remove the software Realtek, the way you did and then install an earlier version of the Realtek driver. However, it is difficult to understand the symptoms of your laptop. Normally if there is the same symptom with pilot of the provider and the native driver, which is strongly evocative of hardware failure because both pilots are not likely to have the same bug at the same time. In your case, but I wouldn't bet on it anyway.

  • Audio works with headphones, but not the speakers

Hello, I have a DELL XPS17.  The sound works fine with headphones, but no sound when the headphones are disconnected.

Note that I had the opposite problem (its good speaker, but no helmet) and then updated the driver.  Once the new driver has been installed, the problem was reversed.  Very strange: Pei

    Last driver installed is Audio_RLTK_W7_A05_Setup-J3VMR_ZPE

    Thanks for your help!

Hello. You can test your speakers by running test audio fast ePSA or PSA tests.

You can test the audio driver by opting for the native Windows audio driver. If you get the same symptoms with the native driver, then you can exclude a bug in the driver from Realtek. This Realtek driver has been around for awhile now and has no bugs that I know.

    • 1. open Device Manager (found in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc in the search box).
    • 2. develop the 'audio controllers, video & game' and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".
    • 3 Select this option to "Update driver software".
    • 4. click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
    • 5. click on "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
    • 6. put the "Show compatible hardware" check box if not already checked.
    • 7. in the list of devices, click on 'High Definition Audio"(native driver).
    • 8. click on "next".
    • 9. in the update driver warning box, click 'Yes' (the driver).
    • 10 restart the portable computer if you are prompted. If not invited, so no need to restart.
    • [To return to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse steps 2-7 names].

If the speakers and the driver to pass the tests, you might have failed to sense pin into the headphones Jack, explained in the FAQ of Jack for headphones.

  • No sound after you connect the headphones.

I have a pavilion dv6 laptop.  I have a headset that I want to use for the games, but I can't hear sound through them.  When I do my helmet of communication to the default device it doesn't let me.

    Hello Jack,.

I certainly understand the inconvenience that you cross.

It is possible that this problem would have occurred due to some incorrect settings or because of an incompatible or corrupted audio drivers.

Important: Make sure that your headphones are not connected to the line (headphone) jack of your sound card or computer (unless you want to be listening with headphones rather than speakers). When you connect in the headphones, most computers automatically cut the sound to the speakers. Ensure that the headset is completely and firmly inserted into the correct socket. Plug in the headphones and see if the same appears in Device Manager.

In order to understand the issue more clearly, I would ask that kindly provide me with the following information.

    1. Have you tried plugging in external speakers or any other helmet and checked if you are able to hear the audio?
    2. You are able to get the sound on your laptop's built-in speakers?

If you are not able to hear the audio on the built-in speakers or other external speakers or any other headset, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Open the hardware and devices troubleshooter.

Note: If your computer is having problems with a recently installed device or other hardware, try to use the hardware and peripheral troubleshooting tool to solve the problem. It checks the common issues of interest and ensures that a new device or hardware connected to your computer has been installed correctly.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-Troubleshooter

If the problem persists, please follow method 2.

    Method 2:

Check with the volume controls. Please follow the steps below and check if it helps.

    (a) right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, then select volume control options.
    (b) check on "all devices evolving sound.
    (c) make sure that you have "Default uncontrolled communication device".
    (d) place a check on the speakers and headphones. Click on apply and OK.

If the problem persists, follow method 3.

    Method 3:

This occurs when you have the speakers, by default. We need to put the headset as default. Please follow the steps below and check if it helps.

    • Exercise the functions mentioned below to set the speakers as default.

    • Click Start and click on Control Panel.

    • Click sound, and then a new window will open.

    • In the new window click on the "Playback" tab and right-click in the window and click on Show disabled devices.

    • Now, check if the headset is listed there and right-click on it and choose activate.

    • To highlight this helmet and click "set as default".

Also try to install the latest drivers from the chipset in the system and check if it helps.

If the problem persists, follow method 4

    Method 4:

I suggest you to refer to the procedure described in the article below and check if it helps.

  • Way to hear microphone with headphones?

I want to be able to hear me talk through my headphones. Essentially, I want to take the microphone input and turn it into headphone output. (I'm hearing so I tend to speak more loudly that I need to) Is it achievable through Skype settings? If so, how could I do it? Thanks in advance.

It's a Windows setting, not a parameter of Skype. I googled for you with "Hear micro speakers" and here is a link from the first page of results:

    It also works with headphones.
