NVIDIA nForce Question

I have an old HP Pavilion a1637c PC running Windows XP SP3 MCE.  I started having problems with my Internet dropping out and trying to understand what is happening.  My ISP says it's a problem with my PC.  I use the original NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller, version 50.2.4.0 dated 03/03/2006.  (I don't know if it's worth the upgrade to the new version of driver or not).  I use Norton Internet Security 2011 and in the history of the security, I get a note that "the IP address has disappeared from the adapter and is is no longer protected.»  When I can't connect to Internet, I ran the Windows XP Network Diagnostics and it came and wrote no connection could be found?  My network controller could break and who is causing my PC to lose the IP address or does it really sound as the ISP is at fault?

If you can get Internet to work, even if it is intermittent, then you the drivers are good--period. It's the same exact symptom you would if your cable has been disconnected.  To me, it seems that you may have an intermittent connection problem. I try a different cable or clean the ends of the cable (connectors contacts) first.

  • Looking for a NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller Driver Update for HP Pavilion Elite e9140f

    Hi, I added a second hardrive that is 3 TB and my desktop is running windows 7 with SP 1.  I have been informed by Acronis technical support I need to get an NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller update (I have version

    NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller version 11.1.0.29 installed).  Can someone tell me what version I need update too and where to download?  Thank you!  Mark

    The last driver from Chipset from nVidia for your computer is located on the nForce Chipset Driver Version 15.56 download page. This driver install NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller driver v11.1.0.43. This driver, however, isn't likely to solve your problem.

    You will need to check that the hard drive is seen in BIOS until the computer will recognize the drive. You will need to run the Windows 'Disk management' console to partition the hard drive in at least two partitions, MBR or GPT partition before you can use the drive.

When I tried to re - install, it says that I need an installation disc. I don't have a disc, so I contacted NVIDIA. They informed me that they offer no support for this controller when part of a card mother and suggested that I contact Microsoft. Can someone help me find an installation disc, or suggest that I could do to make this work?

    Have a Pavilion a1700n with Vista Home 32-bit (SP2) Preimium.  You will need to re - install the drivers for the NVIDIA nForce Network Controller, but need to re - install the driver.  May not know exactly what model of controller I have, so don't know what driver to pull out of the NVIDIA site.

    Features HP are very generic to describe the network controller, and the driver for the controller does not appear on the list of available drivers on the HP site for this computer.

    Hello = D

    I would ask for advice, if I should download this new update of the SM (Microsoft Window Update). And I have no problem with my driver. I'm just asking if it's necessary for me to download this update :D
      Thank you =)

    Hello

    As a general rule, if your product works very well, and the update of the driver does not provide a previously unavailable feature, don't fix what isn't broken.

    What you don't say, is whether your current driver is Microsoft Windows 'Approved' / 'certified '. What is my personal opinion, I am a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it.". I saw that too many products otherwise good (video cards, sound cards, etc.) get sacked because someone downloaded and installed a new driver more than one that worked very well.

    As long as your machine works well, leave well enough alone would be my advice.

    Let me know what you decide.

    Kind regards
