  I bought December ' 07 7742-CTO. It has Nvidia Quadro NVS 140 m, preloaded with XP Pro. Now that it is out of warranty, it has started to freeze randomly.   No one answered, but the problem is solved. The R61 has thermal problems. I installed ThinkPad Fan Control, which is a part of 3rd freeware utility and to keep the Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU in reasonable time. Freeze either. Don't know why Lenovo stock in place was not able to avoid overheating, but the laptop is solid as a rock now.

  I bought a new laptop Toshiba C50D-A-133 with 8.1 Windows pre-installed in December.
  The problem is that Windows 8.1 hangs at random times.

  The only thing I can do during a freeze, is to move the cursor.

  But I can't click on anything - it does not.

  In many cases of system problems could lead to as annoying behavior for laptop and this is why I would recommend you to Reset (to recover) the system back to factory settings.

  From my understanding in the case where the gel is related to the problem system, return to factory settings should to fix this

• HP Pavilion dv7 Freeze random/Lockup

  My computer freezes randomly. What is happening is that I'm doing something that I do as usual check Facebook or some other normal Web site and it just randomly freezes. I have no idea what is the cause, and he never blue screens. What happens is:

  I bought a new laptop and it came with pre installed Vista Home premium 64-bit with SP1. The information system is the chipset Intel GM45, integrated graphics, 4 GB of RAM and 320 hard drive.

  The system hangs at random without error regardless of what I show. I have to do a hard reboot. The system event viewer under computer at the time of the event management has warnings and reads like

  There are a few reasons your computer might hang, freeze, or crash. So I would say, you can remove the external devices except the mouse and keyboard, try the following steps and check if the problem persists.

  I had a problem with my Macbook Air early 2015 since nearly a month. I freeze random OS experience (I'm under OS X El Capitan 10.11.4): the cursor moves and the keyboard is unresponsive, so I can't do anything at all. The only thing I can do to "unlock", it requires the laptop to restart (by turning manually him off and then back on). This problem occurs more or less one or two times a week and I didn't notice a particular task or request that I am running that may cause the gel.   I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro R850-15F who gave me four years in refurbished condition and so it is quite old.
  I have recently installed Windows 10 and things seemed to work very well.

  However, last week, I noticed that at least once a day my laptop freezes randomly and immediately the internal fan accelerates, becomes much stronger and a cold air. Whenever this happens, I turned off the laptop and turn it back on it.

  After that, it works normally again until the next time it freezes. I don't know anything about computer hardware, but I suspect that it is a problem of series and I wanted to get some advice in case my laptop is close to dying.

  If anyone has any help or advice or suggestions to solve the problem, then I would be extremely grateful if you would contact me.

  I bought this MacBook on the Apple store online a year ago, and I must say it has been a very reliable machine up to now. It starts way faster that any laptop I have ever used before.

  However, recently to update my OS on the 10.11.4 version, my screen freezes randomly. The keyboard and trackpad are both unresponsive.  Closing the cover does nothing either, since the macbook won't sleep normally as it would be. The only solution I had was to hold down the power button to force it to close.  This has been extremely frustrating and made me lose valuable data too.  I ran the Diagnostics of Apple and the only error seems to be the battery issue. It has been said, however, that it should not affect the performance of the computer.

  Hey, I bought the same macbook 6 months ago, the macbook had several recurring problems, graphic and audio glitches, what happened was, sometimes (for watching movies, or playing games) the screen went black with a red line on the left side of the screen, then after 2-3 seconds screen is returned to normal, and then there was a glitch-audio distortion that attaches after 10 seconds - 1 min.

  If you are still under warranty, go directly to the apple store and request a fix, when I say request, do not be polite, don't bite on phrases like "we will do everything, so you won't have to come back again," go aggressive mode, because at least in my case, be polite did not help, the best thing would be, when it freezes again not turn off it take it straight to the apple store.

  Another thing is, I had a battery problem when running the diagnostics, whenever I gave it to them they said oh "battery is ok, sometimes the tests fail," my argument? If the tests fail how do you rely on them...

  The machine freezes randomly. This happens about 6 - 8 times during a working day.

  I recently bought a L450D refurbished: Win 7 64 bit, 4 GB ram, 2.1 Ghz AMD dual core, it works much faster than my Toshiba 1 year anyway.
