    Hey @Ray1959,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that the e-all-in-one printer Officejet Pro 8600 is copy slightly. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once, while the printer is on, remove the power cord at the back of the printer for one minute.

Please let me know if this improves the darkness of the copies. If so, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

Hello @LoganNEand welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see that you are having display problems. I would like to help!

I would recommend starting with a power reset.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

I would recommend also to plug the power on the printer to another.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • "HP Officejet Pro 8600. Too light scans for faxes. Recipient cannot read the content of the page.

It would be nice if someone answered my question in due TIME!

I had a simular problem.  ONLY when scanning with the help of the charger the scans would come out too light, could hardly read them.  This also happened when making copies using the feeder.  I called HP and THEY WERE USEFUL.  They claim that it be plugged into a surge protector can cause problems with feeding.  I unplugged the protector and went directly to the wall outlet.  Problem solved.  They say he is a surge protector integrated the maching, so no need to plug it into one.

Seems a bit weird to me, but I don't like. It works now.

  • OfficeJet pro 8600: not possible to change the scanning of the Panel of the printer resolution settings

With my Officejet pro 8600, there is no possibility to change the scanning resolution settings when you are working in the control panel of the printer (not present button to touch) when I want to scan to the computer, while in the manual it is mentioned that, after pressing the Document Type, it should be possible to reach the resolution to change the resolution of the scan setting. On the other hand, when the scan to a memory card the button change the resolution settings is present.

Sometimes for the scanning of all computers to select (winXP SP3 installed on it). The HP printing software is installed on all computers and manage digitization to the computer is turned on. It is possible to change the resolution settings when using my computer with the HP printing software, but as I said not in the use of the printer.

Thank you to help you solve the problem!

    Hey mk75053,

Scanning to memory card has the parameters of resolution through the front because that is the only way for the device perform this type of analysis.  However, to change the resolution settings for the Scan of the computer, one will have to perform scans through the software installed on the PC.

I have all three types of 8600 models where I am located (base, more high quality) and of all printers simply ask to start the analysis after selecting the scan type.

    I hope this helps.

    Greetings @HPofficejetPro,

I saw your post about the problems you are having and I can find some things that you can try.

Have you tried another ethernet cable?

The same thing happens when you connect with a USB cable?

HP regularly publishes updates of firmware that can also correct the problem you are experiencing. With the USB cable is connected, you can click on this link to download the firmware update for the. HP Officejet Pro 8600 more e-All-in-One Printer - N911g.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 does not scan full page legal-size

I have seen this question several times in these forums, but solutions do not apply to me - I can not find the applications or the settings or patches do not resolve the problem. I am running Windows 8 32-bit with a HP Officejet Pro 8600. When you scan a legal size document, the entire page is not scan, even when I select a custom size. The bottom is cut roughly where a letter size page would end.

If you respond with a solution, please be very specific, i.e. If you say "Control Panel", you mean the control panel of Windows 8 or the small touch screen of the printer itself? If you want "pull me up to the HP application", please say that the we - there are several installed on this computer, and I've tried them all.

    Thanks in advance...

In fact, the problem was located. I is broke and finally called HP support. It turns out that, contrary to the information that I have seen elsewhere, legal size paper MUST be analysed the ADF, not the dish. You can see a white band across the plateau where the search starts. The dish is physically unable to accommodate legal communication. Once the original is loaded in the ADF, the size of the document options now include legal communication.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600

We bought a HP Officejet Pro 8600 a year ago and set up two laptops and a desktop computer to print to it. For the past 6 months my laptop was unable to print to it. We have tried re adding to my laptop but it says that the printer is not found. Help, please

Hi hybrid17, can you confirm for me that only laptops has problems of wireless printing to the 8600 Pro JO? If so, you could check to make sure that the IP address of the printer is correct in the printer on the computer software laptop problem. To do this first check the IP address of the printer by pressing the icon on the front panel of the printer wireless and noting the displayed IP address (you can also print a wireless network Test report to get this value). Then go to the IP address of start - all programs - < model printer > HP - HP - update. If the address displayed as the "previous IP address" is different from the one that you noted from the front panel of the printer you need to update it in the software so that they are the same.

Hope this information helps, good luck.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 more print but not scan

I have an Officejet Pro 8600 and I use Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) and it print and copy but will not scan. I had a hell of a time trying to get this thing to scan - I even spent an hour and a half with HP technical support and they could not fix it and finally gave up and call me Micro$ oft said that it must be a windows problem (Windows is up to date, incidentally).

I tried to open the scanner software and nothing happens when I click the icon - the loading icon flashes for a second, then only the mouse pointer. Nothing happens if I try to boot from all programs. Nothing happens if I try to scan to the computer of the other printer told me the failure of sweeping and that there could be reasons of severalpossible (unrelated, software used, etc.).

I have installed and uninstalled. A couple of times he was having trouble with the installation, but finally got it connected. Once it would not uninstall in Control Panel until I did it directly from the HP folder. I connected it by USB and wireless. I installed the version of bloatware. I cleaned that out and I tried the only version of drivers. The HP support person had me go and removed a bunch of stuff in the registry. I tried to run as an administrator. Nothing works. I even tried to scan using Windows Fax and scan. I disabled Kaspersky and made sure that my firewall is turned off.

I am at my wits end with this and certainly regret my purchase at the moment. Help!

Hello, it happens to the analysis of Windows (WIA) and generates an error:

"The Windows Imaging service does not work... If the problem persists, you will not be able to scan using the applications that use this service, such as Microsoft Paint. Scanning software HP could still work. »

It asked me to restart, and then re-run the diagnostic tests, but I got the same result.

Then, I jumped to HP Scanner Twain and got another error:

"The Twain component is not working properly because the product is used by another process. Save your work and close all applications. Turn the product off, turn it on again, and then click on restart and repeat the test. »

He told me then the problem persists to uninstall the software, then reinstall the Full Feature software (I did, but available).

    * EDIT

Problem solved!  After you had me run the diagnostic tool I googled the WIA problem and found that many other people had the same problem. A person has a response from Micro$ oft saying that it was a Windows 7 issue and how to fix it - this is the text I found:

To start the WIA service, you need start all services of dependence. To start the dependency services, please follow the steps mentioned below:

-> > click on start-> type "services.msc" and press ENTER, once you get up the services window, please do the rest steps.

-> > first check and write down all the dependency services: -

-> > right WIA-> properties-> tab dependence, check the services of name listed there.

It must contain the following services:

    * RPC remote Procedure Call

-> > DCOM Server process Launcher

-> > RPC end point mapper

    * Detection material core

Make sure that all of the above services are started in the services list.

Last time, we started the Detection hardware Kernel, which solves our problem.

(Andy, it's important.  Choose "Detection hardware Kernel ' and start this service which should start your 'Windows Imaging Acquisition '.  If it does not then select WIA and change the departure to "automatic".  This fixed my problems) after all dependency services start, please try to start, WIA service to solve the problem of .

(For those who are doubtful with computers, like me, when you click on the start icon, you can type services.msc in the box of research programs or click on run and type it in there). Once inside the list of services, you can look at the dependencies by right-clicking on the Windows Image acquisition service and selecting Properties. Take note of these dependencies. Then back to the main list and watch to see if these dependencies are started. My Shell Hardware Detection says disabled, so I right click on it; However, starting selection is grayed out and I couldn't select it from the drop-down list box, so Startup type I selected Automatic, apply, close the Services window and then started my Scan software and presto, it worked.

Thanks for setting me on the right track!

  • Save frequently faxed numbers in my officejet pro 8600

I have an all-in-one Officejet Pro 8600. Toshiba XP laptop and using the 8600 wireless.

Have not been able to find how to set up an address book, of sorts, on the HP to often fax numbers.

    Hello Erika9

Looks like you're talking about the Fax access. Fax Speed Dial description is:

"You can configure fax number frequently used as speed-dial entries. This allows you to compose

These numbers quickly by using Control Panel of the printer".

You can find detailed instructions on pages 74 to 76 of the operating manual. You can find the manual on the link below.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Printhead question

I bought the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus about a year, and recently the impression was very bad.  I have a lot of horizontal gaps in the photos (color and b & w) as well as in the text.  It is not as crisp as it was when I bought it first.  I use it to write contracts and lately, had to go to the local Kinkos to print that it is not acceptable to give to a potential customer.  I installed the ink HP geniune.  I have tried cleaning the print heads through the tool on the printer, but also download and trying to solve the matter through 'hardware diagnostic tool.'  I always feel the lines of streaks / missing.  According to the report stage of my printer, I only printed 1 266 pages.  I have a hard time to believe that after just as many pages the print head has been overworked or put in his time.  I looked up the cost of a new print head, and at almost half the price of a new printer, I have a hard time to justify the expense.  I really like the printer and won't replace it.  I hope it's just a defective print head that may be covered in some way, or could be replaced at a more reasonable price.

Opportunities, ideas or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I should probably post that I had contacted HP, even if the printer is out of warranty.  I think what saved me was that I was able to pull up my impression of total, I think it was a little more than 1 000.  Obviously a very small amout of draw has been done during the time period.  They were able to send me a new print head, with instructions on how to replace or envelope pre-paid to send the back of an old man.  Touch wood, no problem since then, and I know I have printed a lot more during this period without any problem.
