On Firefox 4.0 when I try to play a video, I get "You need to update your Adobe Flash Player to view this video." But Adobe Flash 10.1.102.64 is already installed, and it's the only version I have. In addition, all the videos work fine in Internet Explo

Firefox does not apparently see that a high enough version of Adobe Flash is already installed (there is no downgrade). Other applications are able to run Flash without any problems.

The Flash player for Firefox is 10.2.159.1 that the fixed Zero Day exploit in the previous version, see: Adobe releases update of Flash Player Security.

What I suggest you do is to go to http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html and download Adobe Flash uninstaller, and that (first close Firefox). Then, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ to obtain the current version.

Uninstaller will also uninstall IE8, so you'll have to use that to download and install it again I'm afraid. This is because the version of Firefox does not have the ActiveX control that is required to operate the Flash in IE8.

  • When I try to play a video I have a video with no sound

original title: Windows Vista/windows media player/videonosound

my windows media player will play a dvd with the sound when I try to play a video that I have a video with no sound. I tried to upload an ogg codec so I can get a little sound of my video.

    Help please.

    Angie line Graham

Although Microsoft does not provide a feedback about which codecs you need, you'll probably want to install a free app called MediaInfo that will analyze the file you are trying to play and to determine what exact codec you need to play the file. I walk through the process of fix codec errors in this tutorial on MediaInfo.

If it's an OGG file as you indicate, the best thing to do is to play any other application, but Windows Media Player, new support for the codec for OGG in WMP is ugly, but I would check double what you need first.

  • Try to plug it into the router which is already installed and running with the other computers in the House.

My computer says "Windows cannot find the certificate to connect to the network."  This computer is working - and an administrator.  This person could not help me.  Hope someone here can...

The 'certificate' this computer is looking for is something that is used in networks wireless business and almost never in home wireless networks.

The following assumes that you have given to your home network wireless (SSID of the router) "name" which is recognizable as yours and different from the network name to your work.

The following also assumes that you are using Windows XP service pack 3 and you use to control your wireless Windows Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) adapter.

If none of these assumptions are not correct, provide the relevant information.

If all of the above assumptions are correct, then

    • Open network connections (start > run > ncpa.cpl > OK)
    • Right-click on the icon for your wireless adapter and select Properties
    • Click the "Wireless Networks" tab.  This is where you confirm that "Use Windows to configure my wireless network" is checked. If it is not checked, stop here - you need to identify the utility that controls your wireless adapter before continuing. a good place to look is the icons in the Notification area (next to the time display)
    • Select your network (SSID of your router) from the list of "Preferred networks", and then click Properties
    • Click on the "Authentication" tab and uncheck the box for "enable authentication IEEE 802. 1 x for this network. "
    • OK your way out.

If "allow authentication IEEE 802. 1 x for this network"is checked, but grayed out, so you can't change it, click 'Cancel' to return to the"Wireless Networks"tab and"Remove"the entry of your router.  Then click on "View Wireless Networks", select your router, click Connect and enter your password when you are prompted.

  • How to get the key for windows 7 already installed and supplied with the laptop.

I bought Lenovo laptop, 2 years back, and he had windows 7 Home premium.  Now it is showing my windows cannot be real and asks for the key for verification. Key was written on a label on the back of my laptop. The key is now unreadable on the sticker. I'm looking for the key to verification?

If the product key on the COA sticker is damaged, then your options include:

Reinstall Windows 7 using the supplied with your laptop Lenovo recovery partition:

    http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4HWSE3

Computers laptops Lenovo include a function called the Lenovo OneKey Recovery button, which is used to boot into the recovery environment and to reinstall Windows.

If this does not work, contact technical support http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/homeLenovo.do and request replacement CD-ROM

If these options are not available, you will need to purchase a new product key for Windows 7 Home Premium.

You can also try to do a restore of the system before you start, facing this problem to see if suits him.
