Option 'search automatically' upgrade of Windows 7 device driver fails immediately

I guess I'm really test the features of Windows 7 that I'm running it on a desktop PC's old, slow, and my access (due to overfishing) Internet was cut up to 64 Kbps (8bKps)!

(And it's fast!  Time to shut-down/re-start is incredibly faster than XP even.)

Having said that I did several times with Windows XP and Vista, I install Windows, and then plug a USB Wi - Fi dongle and access the Internet through that.  I then right-click on my other devices/Ethernet Controller (of which a driver has not automatically been installed) and select software update of the driver...  It worked without problem - on XP and Vista.

I did the same with Win7 RC today and am surfing the Internet without problem (if a little slow).  However, the option "Automatically search for an updated driver" takes but ½ second to respond with an error "Windows cannot find driver software for your device".  It does not seem able to verify the (entirely functional, but slow) Internet at all.

The previous screen said, "Windows will search your computer and the Internet for the latest version of the software driver for your device, UNLESS YOU have DISABLED THIS FEATURE IN the SETTINGS of INSTALLATION of YOUR UNIT."    This is a new installation, and I did not knowingly put such an option (with XP there was once a choice 'always check Internet Internet/check this time only').

It's a matter of waiting period (half a second? or another bug of pre - release?)

Until someone said, yes I could download the drivers on the C: drive and point the app update driver there, but it is not the purpose of this; also some people may use Win7 dial-up modem access... ;-)

Thank you!

See you soon,.

  • How do I stop the automatic upgrade to windows 10

It looks like this since yesterday, I am not liked invited to upgrade my computer laptop windows 7 to windows 10, but he has even begun to do so without asking me. I could stop it with a breakdown hard, but now he warns me that it will upgrade as soon as I restart the laptop. I really don't want to upgrade, becauee I'm fine with my windows 7. My partner has a more recent laptop and faced many problems during the upgrade to windows 10, including the days to restore the settings / programs, etc. and return to 7 again.

How do I get out of this mess and will be also not bothered more in the near future by this "putsch"? When I buy a new laptop I'll be ok with a pre-installed windows 10, but not on my old laptop.

Microsoft has published an article in August 2015, which contains instructions on how to completely disable all downloads, bookings or messages on the upgrade to Windows 10 about 9 months ago.

If you have the Pro version of Win7.1 or Win8.1, you can use the existing group policy hotfixes. If you have home / Core version, you can use the registry-related edits.

  • How to prevent the automatic upgrade for Windows 10

Press reports say that Microsoft will 'soon' 10 Windows upgrade recommended for Windows 7, leading to the automatic download and installation.  I don't want that.  I have upgraded to Windows 10, then returned to 7 (leaving an extra 100 GB of something on my hard drive).  I intend to hold out until the last minute, and perhaps later.

So, how to prevent this scheduled automatic upgrade?  Do I have to turn off updates in Windows 7 and manually review every update?  What I read who cannot help because Microsoft does not offer as much detail about the upgrades as in the past.

Computers were a hobby for me in 1980.  After 35 years the computers are now a tool and their maintenance is a chore.  I'll learn Windows 10 when I need to and not before.  I really don't want to use 10 at home and at work 7.  When my employer upgraded, so I will.

    Hello DilbertFan,

For the first year that Windows 10 is out, he will be free to users with a license for Windows 7 or 8.1.

If you don't know that you do not want to update then please copy the text following that I have which is in italics below and paste it into Notepad.

The Publisher of the registry Windows Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Gwx]"DisableGwx"=dword:00000001

Once you have that then go ahead and save it to your desktop and save it under "block 10" or something like that. ""

Return to your desktop and locate this file and change the extension from .txt to .reg file

Save it, and then double-click the file. It is to modify the registry to block the upgrade of Windows 10. I use a lot.

    Thank you

  • Windows PCIe device driver problem. Windows hangs on the reception of the PCIe interface data.

I am writing a the PCIe device driver. With the PCIe, I have a connected storage device. I assigned a buffer in memory using malloc() which I use to transmit data to and receive my material. In my hardware, I have a DMA which uses physical addresses for data transmission. The transmission of data to the storage device works fine, it's all data that I have in the buffer are correctly transmitted to the material, but as soon as I try to receive all data from my material in this memory buffer (in memory of the host), windows crashes! I tested it on Windows Vista and Windows 7, but both crashed on playback. I think that windows is not let PCIe write on his memory. If that is the question, can you suggest anything to fix this problem? Or if you think that there is nothing else that is causing this problem, please let me know.

I am using a Satellite L300 laptop PC series with a TS-L633A TSSTcorp CDDCDW CD/DVD drive, however the player currently has stopped working, saying that:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) »

I tried to uninstall the drive and restart the computer, but when the laptop tries to reinstall the driver I got error message saying:

"Software device driver has been properly installed.

Any ideas for how to get the operational drive again?

    Hello

I think that this can be resolved very easily.
    There are some discussions that offer a solution;

Usually, you will need to remove the device in Device Manager.
Then you must go to the registry and must remove the upper and lower registry key filters.
Here you can get more details:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us

    After that, restart the device.

  • HP Officejet J3600 Series for Windows 7 device driver

I can't get my printer to work!  I installed different versions of the software, and every time I said that there is not a driver that exists for the HP Officejet J3600 series.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

I uninstalled the software several times, and I tried to install with Microsoft plug-and-play decisions.  I went from the other way and I asked HP what is desired and installed from their point of view.
I've just updated my Windows Vista computer to Windows 7.  There is a significant update of Windows Update that tries to install, but it fails every time.  This update is HP - printers - HP Officejet J3600 series 63.9 MB and it was published on 02/07/2011, but it gives me "Code 800F0246 Windows Update encountered an unknown error".  I found that the print spooler was not, which allegedly allowed other printers at work, but not my HP Officejet J3680.
    Thank you in advance,
    Bryan

    Palcouk,

Thank you for your help in this matter!
Yes, I did contact the PC manufacturer and the hardware manufacturers of printer support site for the software, both are HP.  I also tried to install the basic printer driver as the complete software, but neither attack could solve the problem.  These efforts included a complete removal of the software from my system, reboot and all.  I tried plugging in is not the printer until you are instructed to do and I also tried to connect the printer, using the plug-n-play in order to have the windows to find the correct drivers, but no attempt would not work.  These are good ideas!
The solution ends up being a deletion of the printer driver for another printer that has already been installed when I was with Vista.  This driver is not compatible with Windows 7 and was originally the 'print spooler' to stop and cause other installation failure.
Technical support at the University said that they eventually remove the other printers on the computer system;  then restart the print spooler by clicking the Start button, the search for 'Services', the program opens, scrolling to "Print spooler", selecting and clicking on "start the service"; and then install the software of the printer as usual.  The printer works fine now!  Yay!
PS You are absolutely right about the existence of a difference between important and recommended updates.  When I got my printer connected to the computer and I tried to update by using windows update, I think he said it was an optional update, but when the printer was not connected, the update did not show.  I think you're right, it was only a recommended update.  Thank you for this fix!
P.P.S.  I'm sorry, I can see how you might have thought that he wasn't no matter what printer driver.  There was, I think, 5 drivers for the printer that were to be installed.  Four installed without any problem (I think they were to scan, fax, USB printers and one another, but that of the HP Officejet J3600 series did not and he said that he was not a pilot that exists for installation).  After the correction of the University, it is installed without any hitch.
I hope this helps those of you who may have similar problems!
    Sincerely and gratefully.
