OptiPlex 3020 vs vs 9020 Optiplex Optiplex 7020

Is could someone please tell me how 3020 Optiplex, Optiplex 9020 and Optiplex 7020 differ from each other? There are systems with the same configuration in the three models. I checked the specifications in detail for these three, but could not find difference. Even the chipset, internal locations and the IO ports are identical. The only difference I could see is the price especially for 7020, around 5 K difference.

They are all very similar in specifications and the build configurations. I don't see an option to 'build' the 7020.

Opti 3020 40448.36 = $617,26
Opti 9020 40941.82 = $624,79
Opti 9020 44590.78 = addition of AMD Radeon R5 240 $ 55,59 video card $680,48

You call 1800-425-4002 / 080-2510-8001 for work details.

  • OptiPlex 7020 and RAID array

    Greetings.

I bought an Optiplex 7020 and controller card SATA referenced in this post after you speak with a representative and come far from believing the 7020 and the SATA controller card combination would allow me to set up a RAID 1 array. I bought both the 7020 and the controller Dell card.

However, after several conversations with the Dell and Technical Support Technical Support Startech, I'm still not able to get this working. I am able to enter in the configuration menu of controller card at startup in addition to being able to access the system BIOS. The BIOS shows 'Mass Storage' assigned to the PCI Express slot (as it should), but complains without hard drive being found when I try to start.

Just for clarity: I'm not trying to use a built-in RAID configuration and try instead to use a controller card to take care of the RAID array. So I am (perhaps erroneous) belief that the 'RAID ON' in the BIOS setting is unimportant because the controller card takes care of the RAID array. BTW: My BIOS is not a parameter "RAID ON". I say just that to prevent an answering machine to take me on the way to the RAID configuration integrated. The 7020 does not come with built-in RAID.

In fact, this Dell page said I need to "buy additional hardware", which is exactly what I did when I bought the controller card - or at least I thought.

So the questions are: what should I do to be able to get my Optiplex 7020 to mirror the first drive on a second so that the second is bootable immediately in case one breaks down?  Do I need a software solution instead? Do I need extra hardware yet?

    Thanks in advance!

If this card requires a driver, so it is probably not responsible until Windows loads BIOS will not be able to see the drives connected on this card to boot from one of them.

And according to the Manual, the startup options are:

To specify the order in which the computer attempts to find an operating system. The options are:

    1. Floppy drive
    2. WDC WD2500AAKX-75U6AA0
    3. USB storage device
    4. CD/DVD/CD-RW drive
    5. Integrated NETWORK interface

Therefore, there is no option to say BIOS to get a boot on PCI - e drive.

That said, it is made reference to the Intel RAID controller in the manual, which suggests it could work with this system.

Win 8/8.1 and win 10, there is a built-in utility called "storage space" to create a mirror. Two drives must be connected to the SATA ports on the motherboard and probably identical in size. So give that a try...

  • Network windows OptiPlex 7020 10 problem

I have recently updated my 7020 Optiplex Windows 10 and now impossible to activate the network card.  I tried to install the update of the 10 victory twice with the same result. The network adapter is an Intel(r) Ethernet connection I217 LM that is original to the machine.

I installed the latest drivers available Dell and Intel.  Support page of Dell product for the serial number of this PC says "Dell has tested this product to confirm that it can be upgraded to Windows 10."  I launched a support chat and said as not covered by my warranty, which is strange because the site says it is compatible, but maybe I expect too much of Dell.

Someone else has encountered this network card problem and found a solution?  For now I'm back to win 8.1

You have a VPN client installed on your computer?  I had an experience similar to what you mentioned above.  I had to decline to 8.1 Windows and uninstall the Cisco VPN client since it would not finish uninstalling Windows 10.  Once I did, I've upgraded to Windows 10 and my NIC reworked.

Have a given model to nine on order and am awaiting delivery...

A few questions for the community if you let it.

The specification says w/HD Graphics 46OO. This configuration will support two monitors? If so, what are the results.

If this isn't the case, I need install a video card. I see that the model has a location pci express. I guess I need a low profile card? Suggestions for a reasonable round model (not), which will not put a load on the power supply.

It comes with an SSD, but no additional hard drive. I can see the spec there is that a single internal drive (3.5-inch) Bay. A hard drive can be installed alongside the SSD (SATA card inputs and enough power?) who will obviously have the OpSys on it.

Thanks a lot for any iput.

    Hi Geezer466,

Thanks for the post! While the 7020 OptiPlex does not support RAID capacity it can withstand 2x2.5 inches SATA drives. See page 18 of the the service manual for more details. 2 ports back screen and VGA can be used for configuring multiple monitors without adding an additional video card.

  • A 7020 brick...

I have an optiplex 7020 as some joker off Middle flash BIOS.  Now, it is inadmissible.  Fans turn to the top, but no message, no display, no beep codes.  I've done some research first, and it appears on OLDER dell BIOS there are switched to extract the BIOS itself real of the .exe file and then put you that on a flashdrive blah blah blah.

Well the most recent BIOS, or at least for the 7020, these switches do not work anymore, just a few switches 'send log file' useless.  I tried the method of pulling the PSWD jumper and put it on the RTCRST, without effect.

I read a few guides who say short-circuiting of the specific pins on the chip of the BIOS itself will force it into some recovery of starting a little, block mode but I can't locate a diagram of the mobo detailed enough to find out who of the BIOS chip (and this would not be a last case-type of thing.

So, long story short, is there a recovery method that I am being very dense and missing, or is this just watered thing?

The usual fix for a Dell BIOS flash failure, is to replace the motherboard.

  • The upgrade GPU and PSU for Optiplex 9020, baffled by connector 8 pins. !!!

Hi, I have a game related question if you want.

I recently acquired a brand new 9020, was surprised by the performance and was eagerly expected put in my old Redeon HD 5770. However, I was faced with the question of the connectors on the motherbioard is unfamiliar and non-standard. My old SPU 650w had a 4 pins of connector 8 pin, just like your stupid mothers, but they don't reach. The expected 20 "-24"-pin connectors were nowhere to be seen, so I couldn't use these either. " I just talk about an oversight and that my diet Huntkey Titan 650 has simply need an extension lead to join the mother socket, or I'm screwed? The PC was bought for me by my University, and I didn't have the choice of the plug.

Dell isn't the only one to do that.  HP also does.  Its likely a response to the power supplies being exchanged with units of counterfeits.

The Optiplex 3020 7020 9020 R494D 2.5 inch caddy fits inside the DN8MY 3.5 inch blue caddy for the tower.

Office and MFS have different parts for the internal 3.5 caddy numbers, but that's okay because the R494D converts the 3.5 on a medium that holds 2.5-inch disks and then snaps into the 3.5 caddy.

  • PXI-8360 (MXI-Express) PCI-8361 + Dell OptiPlex 9020 = "device cannot start." (Code 10) »

    Hello

I have a chassis PXI-1050, conencted to a Dell OptiPlex 9020 via a PXI-8360 and a PCI-8361 (identified as 199392B - 01L). It is Windows 7 64-bit. I can't start Windows very well, but MAX can't see all my PXI hardware. The Device Manager has also 2 inputs "PCI standard PCI to PCI bridge" with exclamation points.

I placed an old FireWire PCI card in the same dwelling and recognized PC. Thus, the slot went very well.

I transferred the PCI-8361 to an old PC that contains older drivers, and he acknowledged all my PXI hardware. For example, PXI gear works fine.

What could be the problem? Here's a screenshot of my software OR installed. I think I installed all the drivers I need. I checked NI Update Service; There is no update of Critcal, and only updates and Service Packs listed are 2013 LabVIEW and TestStand 2013.

    JKSH,

I look in that little bit more and think that I now know enough to be dangerous.

The BIOS allows the PCI Express native control mode in Windows.  PCIe natively do not like some of the architecture when you use the PCI card version, so it disables the bridges on the PXI card.  I can tell that your OS is PCIe natively because it lists one of the ports as "PCI standard PCI Express to PCI/PCI-X bridge" Device Manager like you posted.

I found that you can disable PCIe native mode, if you want to try it (but in general using the card PCIe is a better option).  Here are the steps:

-Open the start menu and type "cmd" in the search box; Right click on "cmd.exe" and run as administrator.

-In the command window, type "bcdedit/set pciexpress forcedisable.

    -Reboot.

I don't think it would break anything (it doesn't have on a system I've tried).  If you want to reverse the trend, the command is ' bcdedit/set pciexpress by default'
