Password required to access the network home

I just plugged my new Dell XPS 420 under Vista Premium on my Dell Dimension 8300 under XP SP2 through a router linksys wired. I changed the workgroup names are identical and sharing.  The XPS 420 replaced a Dell Dimension 8100 older on the network.

The Dimension can access shared files on the Vista machine with no problems, but when I try to access the files on the Dimension 8300 in my XPS 420 wonder a user name and a password.

I don't know what user name or password it asks for but that you want to disable this requirement.  Any ideas on how I could do this, or if I can't disable it, what username and the passwork it might need?  My 2 pc's are not protected by Word.  Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to the HP Forum.

    Start with the standard:

    admin = admin

password = password (or leave the field blank)

This assumes, of course, you have not used EWS (built-in web server) and a password for her before - what you CAN do using the integrated Web server.  Once you do not set a password using the EWS page, whenever you want to watch some settings, set some parameters, you must enter the password that you set up.

EWS is simply the webpage to the printer interface - as if you use a web page to talk to your router software.  Same thing: sort of, except that you type in the IP of the printer on your browser instead of router, of course.

    ============================================================================

    If it won't let you

You can try to reset the printer.   Be aware that if you do this, you need to re enter all previously entered information (wireless settings, etc.).

You may be able to reset the printer on the front panel - settings > settings default (or similar).

    OR

Troubleshooting > troubleshooting > printer keeps no connection Wi-Fi

Fourth step: reset the printer and wireless router and then restart the computer

Follow these steps to reset your printer and your wireless router, and then restart your computer.

  • Windows 7 asked to "enter network password" when you access the window XP Machine

    Hi all

I have one two PC with Windows XP Pro & the other with Windows 7 Pro. I've implemented a network & it seems to work but when I try to access my XP Machine from Windows 7 to ask me to enter the network password. I tried to enter my password to login & that did not work, I tried to disable the password for the xp machine and he asks again. What can I do to solve this problem. My xp machine I can access the pc windows 7 very well so I do not understand why this network password W7.

Did some research on the net and here's what I did to solve the problem that has been produced

Allowing access to the network without password

To allow users to log on to their computer without password and then access the XP Professional machine without a password, you must make a change security policy:

    1. Go to Control Panel | Performance and Maintenance | Administrative Tools | Local security policy.
    2. Expand local policies | Security options.
    3. Double-click on accounts: limit local account passwords using empty for the connection to the console only, which is enabled by default. Disable this option and click OK.

It stopped at the dialog box access network appearing when trying to access my windows xp machine 7!

  • Windows XP sp3 can not access the network shares on vista after installing sp2

I have a xp sp3 computer and another currently running vista Home premium sp2. Previously, I was able to access the network share on the xp computer before vista computer I installed sp1. Both computers were able to ping between them without problem.

I've upgraded to sp2 because I had problems with windows media center, missing records. Upgrade of these issues fixed, but this means that roll back to sp1 is not an option for me to get operational network.

Please do not post a standard answer on the network configuration. I am familiar with the standards requirements to share files between xp and vista and everything is set up correctly.  Like I said everything was working fine before the installation of sp2.

If it is a known problem that is still not resolved, I'd appreciate knowing that information as well.

Edit: Firewall been disabled during my troubleshooting

After more work, I was able to solve my problem.  Update zone alarm solved my problem and helped my windows xp machine to access my Vista network shares.  As I pointed out in the original post, zone alarm firewall has been disabled during my troubleshooting.  Apparently, when disabled, the old version of zone alarm has always been the origin of the problem.

  • How to cancel name for username/password when you access the WIn7 computer to stream?

    Hello

I have a win7 computer and I would like to access it from a stream. I see the computer win 7 banners, but when I try to connect to access shared folders, it requires username & password. I don't know what they are. I have another computer with Vista from where I can access the computer of win 7. I can also access files on the computer of vista of banners.
I turned on the discovery network, printer and file sharing, turn on sharing so anyone can read & write files in the public folder. Disabled password protection sharing and allowed Windows to manage the homegroup connections (recommended).
Can any suggestions on how I disable the name of user and password? or at least what is it?

    Hi gauravadavadkar,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Communities. Provide the following information:

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         What is the full error message?

    ·         Work on a domain?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode with networkand check if the problem persists.

S tep 2: if the problem does not persist in safe mode with networking, perform a clean bootto see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state section of the article to start the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Startand then click run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.
The System Configuration utility dialog box appears.

    (c) click on the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

Method 3: Follow the steps in the article.

So, you have problems writing to a published network shared Variable? You might be able to solve this by using the software manager system OR distributed. By using this software, you should be able to see all the network published static Variables that are hosted on this computer and all other computers on the network. You can try to modify these variables using this software. If you have the same problems with the variables shared by using this software, then this probably means that there are problems with the network in general as a firewall blocking the communication.

You can check if you have this by navigating to start > all programs > National Instruments > Distributed System Manager. If you do not already have it, you can download it here: http://www.ni.com/download/ni-distributed-system-manager-2013/4216/en/.

  • Cannot access the network ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED

I have Windows 7.  Nothing works, I tried chrome (which will not even load) and Firefox (it has been a constant problem with gmail for well over a year).

    Cannot access the network

    ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED
Google Chrome has access to the network.

Maybe it's because your firewall or antivirus software wrongly think that Google Chrome is an intruder on your computer and it blocks to connect to Internet.

Chrome allow access to the network in your firewall or anti-virus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try to remove from the list and Add again.

I tried the above, but can't seem to solve the problem.  Thank you.

Reset the Internet Explorer settings can also reset parental control settings. We recommend that you note these sites before you use the reset Internet Explorer settings. Reset Internet Explorer is not reversible, and all the previous settings are lost after reset.

  • Can I cache of RADIUS credentials used to access the network devices?

I would start by RADIUS to authenticate users who try to access the network through virtual private networks devices. Since we will need to access the equipment in the case of a VPN does not, I need to know if the credentials may be cached on the device.

You mean devices are accessible once you have set up VPN. Failure VPN, you can even ping the network devices. I am assuming that they would be internal resources. In all cases, credentials may not be cached on the device. Let me know if I am missing any room in your questions. ~ Jousset

    Hi Gofchap,

Thanks for the question of validation in Microsoft answers community!

I imagine the frustration you feel when you are unable to access the network.

The problem may be because of the Extender, diverter, or with the network adapter.

1 did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    2. do you receive any error messages?

    3. What is brand and model computer?

    4. have you tried to connect without using the extender?
