Pavilion all-in-one Q214 23: factory restore on the new HP Pavilion all in one computer

I have a week 6 old Pavilion Desktop all-in-one.  I wanted to do a factory install on it because I had a lot of extra things that I don't want anymore, I installed and I thought what a factory restore would be better.  I went to the HP Recovery Manager and no where in the choices he said 'factory restore '.  He used to have this option in the HP recovery environment.  I checked all the options and nothing on the factory restore.  I made a set of recovery discs, but I always remember that HP still had the opportunity to do a factory restore.  I have tried F11 and F8 and no luck.

Answers or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hello

'S called it Reset - Windows Reset with options to RESET the machine as long as the plant (remove all), with an option to "freshen up" Windows and keep personal files.

Let me know how it goes and if it works for you.

Hi... my Blackberry Bold 9700 should arrive in a few days.  Now, I have a BB Curve 8320.

Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

1 switch Device Wizard is best if you want everything to the new "BOLD".

If you really ONLY want to move your contacts and your settings... you can use Restore > Advanced and selectively choose which databases are restored (like address book, address book settings, etc., then you will get your preferences for different apps if you choose correct food items.

2 anyway, two or one only at a time, the SDW invites you to enter the second device timely.

    3. why the sigh, don't like to travel?

I recommend before doing the restore data, FIRST upgrade you the operating system on the new devcie to the latest available for the 9700 OS v.5.0.0.442 - see link below, just follow the simple instructions in the link.

    http://www.BlackBerryForums.com/General-9700-series-discussion-bold-2/217494-latest-OS-9700-5-0-0-72...

    THEN do the restore.

THEN connect to your carrier BIS account and use the CHANGE DEVICE to link to enter the new code PIN and IMEI in your account so that your emails starts to flow to the new device.

    Good luck.

  • Some iPhone apps don't transfer after restoration at the new iPhone SE

I got my iPhone SE today and made a backup of my 5s iPhone and when I restored the new SE from iTunes a lot of my applications didn't transfer via. Another strange thing is that a few apps is not found in the app store now even if I used them on my 5s.

Some of the applications are for labour (US Army) in order to get them back would be great.

iTunes does not transfer apps from your iPhone to your computer as a result of the thinning of the app. This feature, introduced with iOS 9, allows an application to take less space on your phone by downloading only what is needed for a specific model and not the entire application. To restore a new backup of the old phone, you need to have downloaded them to iTunes on your computer or on your new phone already if you want on your new phone. Unfortunately, applications that can be found is no longer on the app store is no longer available.

  • Restore Vista on the new hard drive in an old computer

I had to replace a hard drive on an old computer running Vista, and I don't have a restore disc.  BestBuy has provided the activation code of the version of vista on the old hard drive, and I was told that I could contact Microsoft and download Vista to restore on the machine.  Can you help me?

    Moved from Vista programs Forum.

    Hello

Microsoft supplies more downloads Vista >

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

This can help you (download files and make your own DVDs).

Vista ultimate is available. Read the information in the lower part of the message on how to use it for other editions of Vista:

    http://www.heidoc.NET/Joomla/technology-science/Microsoft/57-Windows-Vista-direct-download-links

And here are instructions on how to burn ISO disk images:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • photos of the restoration to the new storage location

I am a relatively new user of Lightroom 5. I had to buy a bigger external drive for my photos and need to move from the old disk to the new. When I try to move them with the feature to import/move Lightroom 5, the import button remains Gray and I cannot understand why. The message says only don't: "no pictures to import", or if the photos are displayed in the central panel, I can't select them. When I tried to manually copy the main folder on the new external drive, I lost all my data catalog for them (of course) but may not know how to apply the catalog pictures in the new location. Now, I'm pretty nervous about any future occasion where I really lose my main storage location and need to collect photos and backup catalog. I tried the user manual and tried to search the web, but no luck yet. Can anyone say about that?

Images are only once imported into Lightroom. What import points Lightroom processes where they are stored in your system. After that, it is simply a process of moving images when necessary. The best thing to do is to import once and leave the images in this place. But in your situation it seems that if the travel is necessary to allow you to host more images.

There are two different methods of sequence animated images in Lightroom. Since they are already imported and available in the catalog, you cannot use the import dialog box. Instead, you can go to the library module and find the folder you want to move the folder tree in the left panel and drag it to the other disk if it is available in the library folder tree. I think you will find that this is the method recommended in the literature of Lightroom which is available. However, it seems that when you use this method a few images for a reason any does not move. So, there is another method that I personally prefer.

My preferred method is to use Windows Explorer or the Finder to move the images to a new location. In doing so, I suggest you move records or folder trees if possible. When you open Lightroom after moving files Lightroom will indicate that the files are missing. But do not panic. All that is necessary is to right-click on the highest folder Lightroom indicates is missing and choose find missing files. Then you will be presented with a dialog box that you will navigate on the new hard drive and find the folder and choose this location. Once you have chosen the new location that everything will sync and your work can continue.

As I mentioned previously, it is really best if you must never pass images. But to absolutely it is relatively simple to do. If you want to only move a few images in a folder, it is possible to highlight images in the library grid and drag to another folder in the folder hierarchy. But if you do a vast movement of my preferred method is probably more reliable. Here is a page of instructions that might help you understand the process of searching for the files or missing files, here are the instructions on how to get things synchronized again:

  • I backed up my iPhone 3GS on iTunes. Back up seemed to go OK. iTunes then prompted me to update the iOS that I did. The phone then crashed. I did a factory restore. The backup that I did was not there. Can I recover the loss upward in anyway?

I backed up my iPhone 3GS on iTunes. Back up seemed to go OK. ITunes then prompted me to update the iOS that I did. The update failed. My phone broke. The only option available was to restore to factory settings I've done. The back up I had made was not available for restore. It contains precious family photos and videos. Is anyway to recover the lost or any part of it from my PC Backup? Any help would be appreciated. Best wishes Giles

If you go to iTunes and watch your backups, you don't see one that was made today? Did you see an indication of the backup was not successful? What version of iOS is the device that you have been asked to update? It was not an iOS for the iPhone 3GS update in a while. Regarding the photos and videos, you had never taken the time to import them on the computer?

  • Model 15-f205dx: na not receive any CD of restoration with the new laptop

I bought a new laptop. But he had no CD of any sort. In the past, whenever I bought one, I always had a few Windows/device CD recovery. Any ideas why it had none?

    Thank you

You shouldn't have bought a laptop within a certain time. This has been the industry standard for probably 6 or 7 years at least. Assuming your laptop has a DVD burner, there is a HP Recovery Manager program that will allow you to create a set of DVDs to use for restoring the software crash. You can also use a USB key. Windows 8.1 also has this option built right in:

  • Satellite M45 - does not start after restoration on the new HARD drive

I installed a new PATA 250 GB HDD on my pc. The BIOS is configured to boot from CD/DVD. Toshiba Recovery disk started cold, start follow-up statement to load a new system on the HARD drive. He made a (quick) format on the HARD drive, spent 50 minutes, copy the files from the CD to the new HARD drive. Followed the instructions to remove the CD and reboot the pc. Did. I get the Toshiba homepage for 2-3 seconds, and then I get a white screen with a white block cursor in the upper corner of the LH of the screen. Looks like it does not find the block on the HARD disk?
The procedure of collection 3 times with the same results. Checked the BIOS to check that it is configured to boot from the HARD disk after installation.

The recovery CD is blank. Never used because I bought the PC (3.5 years). Put the new HARD drive in a USB enclosure and formatted with Windows, tried again with the same result? Put the old HDD, PC starts and works very well. Put the live CD Knoppix and boot from that, works very well. See the new HARD drive.

Thus, any suggestions are appreciated. The recovery CD Toshiba is defective? In any case to test?

    Thank you

    Hello

Sounds like a problem with the recovery disk or the new HARD disk if your computer starts up fine with the old HARD drive...

In your case before you start a lengthy discussion, you should try a Microsoft Windows disk to install Windows. If he work it seems that only the recovery disk is defective.

Otherwise, the HARD disk must be defective. Maybe a bad sector or something else

    Hello

Here are the different ways to reinstall vista

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

  • Satellite A660 Factory Restore problems

I have a Satellite A660 Ref. PSAW3A-14V062 delivered pre-installed with Win 7 not provided, but a hidden partition with disk recovery files.

Decided to do a restore to factory from scratch but ends of disk errors. Removed the HD and connected to another computer.

Using Acronis Disk Director, I copied the hidden partition (HDDRECOVERY) to another drive and then formatted the drive and copied the partition hidden in it and reinstalled to the laptop.
Downloaded an ISO image and tried to install it from DVD but received the message that windows cannot be installed on the HARD disk that the drive is about to fail.

Bought new HARD drive and copied the partition hidden for her.
I then tried to install from the DVD, but kept getting errors about unable to find files, after ISO more several downloads and burn 5 different DVD the furthest I got was the screen where it is "files", this remains at 0% and nothing else.

I then tried a factory restore using the "hold 0 during startup", but when I took out the key pressed 0 when the Toshiba start screen showed that nothing happened.

There was a small Partition 'System' on the original HARD drive I have has not copied. I have a few questions.

    (1) the "System" partition did not the files needed to start the factory restore and if so is there anywhere I can download these files?

    (2) probably a topic for another thread, but no clue as to why I have so many problems with ISO files.

Cheers and sorry for the long-winded explanation.

The installation of any recovery is quite complicated. It is designed to avoid a kind of manipulation so original recovery image can be installed either using recovery DVDs or HARD disk recovery facility which must be created with Toshiba recovery disc creator tool.

To be honest, the whole story is complicated enough, but what confuses me, is
    > Decided to do a restore to factory from scratch but ends of disk errors
If I understand you right, you have created a drive recovery, right? What exactly happens?
You can use this drive with new HARD drive?

This method with files recovery to cope with the new HARD drive does not work. You will not be able to access and begin HARD recovery disk image installation.

If you have a new HDD only how to install the original Toshiba recovery image is to use the recovery DVD disc.

  • new hard drive G41, factory restored, now stuck to always start at R & R

G41 2886-79U with XP Pro.  Hard drive died last year, still under warranty then took to an IBM service center.  They have replaced the hard drive under warranty and gave me a set of R & R and product recovery CD.  Laptop computer R & RL ran OK for about a month.  He started to be right about the time when my warranty has expired, becoming slow example, 45 minutes to start.  Random crashes, most often when closing programs, the error message this program could not write to the hard disk.  Frequency of accident back.

Abandoned, taken from the hard drive to install a new hard drive.  [Hmmmm, I notice that they in fact did not replace my original with a new drive, this drive warranty-replaced has a sticker saying "Good used State party"].

Installed the new HD, started using the CD R & R, then followed the six guests R & R factory restore since the product recovery CD.  After the sixth disc, message box saying it needs to restart the PC, you click Yes or no.  There is no direction to remove the CD from the drive, at this point.

It restarts at the R & R window, with the popup of restore factory warning that the product recovery program is only for the unrecoverable system problems.  This looks at where we started the process of factory restore, there are seven CDs.  Choices here are OK, Cancel, or help.  Clicking OK brings you back at the beginning of the factory restore procedure.  Cancel on your vacuum on the main R & R screen. By clicking on restart here restarts once again to the screen of Rescue and Recovery.

Now the G41 is stuck, still boots to R R & does not start in XP.

I pulled the HD and installed temporarily in another PC that has a floppy drive, this allowed me to start with Partition Magic.

R & R 3 partitions on the new disk as follows:

    1. the label is IBMPSP, Type FAT32, size = 406 MB, used (s) = 290,4 Mb, status = None, Pri/Log = primary.

    2 no label, Type unallocated =, size = Mo 71738,8, used (s) = 0.0 MB, status = None, Pri/Log = primary.

    3 no label, Type unallocated =, size = Mo 4171,3, used (s) = 0.0 MB, status = Active, Pri/Log = primary.

On this PC, I let him try to boot from the hard drive and got the message "Missing Operating System".

I put it in the G41, it starts at IBM Rescue and Recovery as before.

I've searched the web and this forum looking for this same issue, have not found something exactly like this.

If anybody out there knows how to get a new HD to market, let me know.

Thank you, Don.  I found the idea on another forum of Lenovo.  So far things are working OK.  The other hard drive will be float-tested as soon as I do not know there is nothing on it that I still need.

As the professor said, it's just not intuitively obvious to the casual observer.

A note, when the PC was bought, it came with Norton Antivirus installed, long expired.  After the factory restore, the Nortonware registered with the site of Norton and apparently it has been recognized as a new installation and got the last update.
