Perform a successful backup

I have a HP Pavilion dv7t - 6 c 00 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows 7 - 64 Bit OS and I'm having a terrible time, get a successful backup, I am using a WD 500 GB external hard drive, but I continue get a lack of space error, what should I be ample space for a backup, but for some reason it is not what if all parameters should I be correct , or change to allow a backup, at this moment, I have no one.  I know it's an image of the system as well which I believe is a good ideal so I will not mitigate this, is there something in the settings of windows for backup I can shape?  Or if I do a manual do - do I absolutely have to include to be viable, or useful to backup.  C: drive is 905 gb with available 471, and my D: drive that's backup is 21.8 GB, with 2.8 GB of available, granted so as you can see that I should be able to get a good backup of my 500 GB external drive, it's really 4.65 GB with files preloaded with 4.11 GB available.  Does anyone have any suggestions.  Thank you.

The simplest solution would be to buy one more big but external, for the sake of information:

If I understand your message, you have:

C: 434GB for backup

D: 19 Go to back to the top

To back up to the top = 453 GB total (compression can make some of these more small, but usually not by much.)

Availible on external is 411 GB.

So lets break that we shouldn't worry.

Allows to forget to back up the recovery partition: create your recovery media.  usually about 5 DVD.  It will restore the computer and drive D and if necessary later.

Create a recovery media for windows 7

probably too should create the ERD of microsoft.

ERD in windows 7 from Microsoft

We saved 19GB having does not attempt to back up the disk d.   We provides up to 434.  If you save only what we need, say documents, photos, music and movies you need, you can select only back up these directories.   don't bother not to save programs, usually cause, you will need to re - install again in any case to get them to work right.  On my computer that takes into account 17 GB for windows and another 48 GB for programs.     Us gets up to 369 MB as a minimum that must run to the 500 GB you have.

Be selective by selecting only the folders and libraries maybe down you a lot more than 369GB.

  • iTunes is no longer performs a new backup after synchronization

With the help of iTunes 12 plus 6 s iPhone

I would like to connect my iphone to my Windows PC and perform a manual synchronization every few days instead of using icloud backup or wifi sync.

Now when I connect my phone and press Sync, it performs "Steps 1-3".  In my view, that it used to take "Steps 1-5".  One of the steps has been refreshed the backup stored on the PC.

If I click 'Back Up Now' it works very well and stores a fresh backup - but I prefer the old behavior: I plug, click Sync, and in addition to the sync all apps, etc., it should perform a new backup.

    Ideas?

    Thank you/jim

    Hi, Jim.

Thanks for the question!  I see that you want iTunes to launch a backup when you sync your iPhone 6 s more.  It is a normal behavior when your backup is enabled on your device. To get there you have to turn off iCloud backup directly on your iPhone in settings > iCloud > backup.  Once this is done iTunes backup the device on the next synchronization without having to select the manual backup option.

When you save using iCloud, you cannot simultaneously use iTunes to automatically save to your computer, but you can use iTunes to manually save to your computer.

    Backup iPhone

You can always reactivate iCloud backup on the device if you want to use this option.  If you do not want to disable backup on the device, you will need to manually backup device.

  • Backup Windows XP does not seem to be clear the attribute archive when you perform a normal backup.

Backup Windows XP does not seem to be clear the attribute archive when you perform a normal backup.

I do a backup of the 'Normal' at the beginning of the month.  Then, at the end of the first week, I do a "Differential" backup (using the same "backup job" but change to type "Incremental".)

Well the difference is huge and to study, I see that a lot of files that I don't know that I didn't take the week since the 'Normal' backup have the Archive attribute set.

Is the 'Normal' compensation not the bit mode backup of archive?  Another thing would be randomly set the attributes to archive?  Is there a ghost in the machine?  Inquiring minds want to know.

    Hello

Differential backup marks files as having been backed up (in other words, archive attribute is not cleared). This is normal.

  • I do a repair system EACH time disc that I perform an Image backup system?

I do one every time system repair disc I perform an Image backup system?

    (Win7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1)

    Thank you.

    Craig, AMTELCO

P.S. I really did a lot of digging before asking. While I picked up some useful tips in the case, I do simply not the connection.

The Windows repair CD is designed to put you in an environment where you can perform these functions:

    • Perform a system restore.
    • Perform a restore of the Image.
    • Open a command prompt.
    • Repair the boot environment.

All these functions are independent of service packs or updates. It is, therefore, no need to update your repair CD. Also note that an installation of Windows 7 DVD can be used as a Windows repair DVD. Again once he doesn't have any need to update.

  • Is there an App for Exchange 2010 event entry specifying that TLogs are deleted after a successful backup?

We use the NetWorker to back up our system of Exchange 2010, once the backup is completed successfully, we expect to see a newspaper App entry indicating that the Exchange transaction logs (Tlog) are deleted (as we do with our Exchange 2007 - ESE backup system).

Although the Tlog files get deleted successfully, should there be an entry in the App events by telling us that in Exchange 2010?

    Thank you

  • Windows backup for maintenance, will not perform a full backup.

Original title: BACKUP WINDOWS FOR MAINTENANCE

Why don't my backup to a blank disc or an external hard drive?

    Hello

    ·         What operating system do you use?

    ·         You get the error message?

    ·         Windows backup that you are using?

    ·         Are you able to perform a backup to internal hard drive?

    ·         Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

Follow these methods and check if that helps:

    Method 1:

You can try to clean boot in order to check whether a third-party software is causing a problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Don't forget to reset the computer to start as usual, once the problem is resolved. Follow step 7 of the KB article.

    Method 2:

You can try temporarily turning on all security software and then try the updates again.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 3:

I also suggest to follow the troubleshooting steps form the article and check if that helps.

  • Win 7 - cannot restore some files from a successful backup

I recently bought a new laptop with Win7.

I managed to restore all my important files to a backup of my old computer which was under Vista.

When you try to restore my emails from the old vista computer, although I can see the files in the backup file real (using the tool of restoration provided by Win 7), after the execution of restoration, it is said that the restoration was successful, but the records seem to be empty and that's why I can't download my old emails to my new computer that represents a major problem for me.

I noticed that, well I can see the folder Windows Mail in the file backup using the restore backup Win 7 laaredj, the folder that corresponds to Windows Mail seems to be on a color much clearer than the other files, however, if I double click on it, I can navigate and see its contents, but nothing is restored.

Can anyone help? I would certainly appreciate any ideas, I tried to recover individual files, the entire file, one together records, tried to use different locations for the restored files but nothing seems to work. All other files in the same backup have been restored without problem.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Check if by chance the folder you are trying to restore is hidden (as you say that the folder is located in a color lighter than other folders).

    To verify the folder property

    (a) right click on the folder

    (b) select checking properties of the attributes.

Try to restore the folder on another computer and check if it is successful.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • When you perform a full backup in Windows 7, is also trying to save the destination drive

Hello when I do a backup on my computer he wants to save the destination for my backup disk. I use the Windows 7 professional 64-bit operating system. I know that he cannot back up the drive on which the backup happens. How can I prevent that from happening.

    Hi FrancisEarley

Yes, the backup can not be performed if the destination drive is selected in the backup list, if it is selected, then be sure to uncheck this drive and then proceed to the backup or if you want to include this backup disk, and then you must select a different destination location.

For example, you can't back up the contents of drive E: to drive E:

You can follow the steps of manual backup and verification-

    (a) open Backup and Restore.
(b), select 'Configuration Backup' or 'back up now '.
    (c) and then in the list to save drivers deselect the destination drive, if it is present in the backup list and move forward with new steps to perform the backup.

Refer to the below help links -.

  • When do a Win7 backup should not both backup image backup files be performed for each backup instance?

    Using Win7 Home edition.

When I did the first backup of a USB attached hard drive, I got what I expected: the two backup files AND a backup image.
When backup running under Win7 backup schedule, I had ONLY the backup files not image that I expected.

I want BOTH each time when backups are performed.

    What I am doing wrong?

    TIA for any assistance.

Windows backup creates a backup of the selected type, IE an image backup or a backup set, not both, the complete image data would also include the data (on the same partition)

  • BlackBerry 9780 Smartphone, how will I know if successful backup

Hello can someone help a person no-tech?   Have tried to spend 2 years to 6 OS using desktop software - 9780 old result is my device at the end of the reboot stops screen then shows error app200.   followed the advice on this forum, but I'm afraid to go beyond the choice on the desktop screen which offers the option of repair which would result in the loss of all data from the device and it would be a disaster for me, if it is not backed up.   I had opted to save early in the process, but have now no idea if this has been done and what happens if anything I will be able to recover if I go ahead with the option 'fix' at this stage.   At the moment I just fitted with a frozen device and have lost a day of my life, try to resolve this issue, and I worry about witless.    (Son of savvy has left home, I try to do these things on my own... with little success!)

Would be very grateful for any advice

Thanks much for the reply and advice - it was kind of you. The phone has been annihilated and not able to be restored because he was already suffering from various issues, I'm afraid, I have taken the plunge and changed for an iphone. I loved my previous Blackberry "BOLD", but have had trouble with this 9780 which was slow and not so intuitive that my previous model. SORRY to leave Blackberry and I am not sure I do totally on with the iPhone, but I embark on a new adventure with an open mind! Thanks a lot for your help.
