  I'm in England and my HP printer is a Photosmart C309g taking cartridges HP 364.

  While vacationing recently in Japan, I bought a (black) cartridge 178XL as she listed on the packaging, in English, that it was compatible with the C309g printer. This is the same as the regular replacement cartridge 364, and actually it's purpose and the same except that it is marked 178XL purposes.

  The problem now, as I've discovered here and first hand on these forums, is when it is installed in the printer, it returns a message indicating it is not compatible.

  Good maybe the cartridge can't read English, but who make a difference when it comes to ink, but it of something to do with this chip and can it be disabled or will HP be magnanimous and send me a compatible replacement?

  I am trying to install any driver for my printer / Photosmart Premium 309 g - m on an upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate edition of a system completely patched Vista who never had the printer installed on it...  I downloaded both Photosmart basic drivers - 2010-03-29, Version: 14.1.0 and Photosmart full feature software and drivers - 2010-03-24, Version: 14.1.0 and tried installs several of each.  I used administrative ID and standard user ID and get the same result.

  After the decompression software into the temporary folder in users/user/appdata/local/temp, the installation begins and during the initial phase of 'system control' get an error message-

  "The system could not find the specified file".

  I am getting very frustrated because I can't take this error.

  Try the following procedure must uninstall and remove any software interferente. Let me know if anything changes.

  Of the Original installation CD:

  1. Insert the CD in the drive and then cancel Setup

  2. open my computer and click right then on the CD from the drive and select open

  3 open the Util folder

  4 open the CCC folder

  5. If you have an HP computer, run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a computer not HP, run the L4uninstall.exe

  6. once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer

  7 run the Accessories\ System Tools Disk Cleanup

  8. download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

  9 download drivers and full software features

  10 go back to the temporary folder and delete all files starting with 7z

  11 start the download to reinstall the printer

  If the software has been downloaded and extracted to your system:

  1. type % temp % in the field of race

  2. Locate and open the folder starting with 7z (example: 7zS2356)

  4 open the CCC folder

  What happens if you try to make a copy of a picture of the printer - still no printed colors? If print colors by making a copy, then the problem is on the side of the computer. If this isn't the case, it's a matter of hardware/firmware/printer accessories.

  Thanks for your promt help-the enjoy. After I posted my question, I have searched and searched the site of HP and dug up any information that could help. By a miracle, I think that I have reinstall the wizard and Dr. Moreover, both computers would be printed on the printer, but wouldn't analyze.

  I ran the programs and bingo, I can now scan on the laptop with Windows 7! When it rains, it pours, I had to get a new adapter for the desktop on the floor when I run Windows 10. Quickly, I plugged and gave it a try. No luck. So I will finalize the adapter and then try the same game plan.

  I used to have 3 options on the Scan-> computer screen.  Now I only have the picture to the file Option and creates a jpeg file, I think.  How can I return the 3 options.  I did a reset to the factory settings and used app doctor Scan from HP.  Thank you

  Assuming that I understand your intention, while clicking Scan on the front panel of the printer, and then clicking on computers, only one option appears, am I right?

  Forums, open the HP Solution Center software and click on the settings button.

  In the selection of the Section Scan "Scan to... Setup '.

  Whenever I turn on the printer, I get a message "insert paper" and then "align cartridges".  I had problems with the printer doesn't print is not black, and Yes, I did EVERY bit of available troubleshooting (no less than 10 times) on the site of HP and HP Support Assistant and HP Solution Center.  I even replaced the cartridge 564XL Black 4 times!  I have run "clean print heads", changed the cartridges and clean the printhead Assembly twice and still no black.  I buy a new print head set?  Does anyone else have this problem?  Why keep alignment cartridges fails?  Yes, I also checked the ventilation openings on the top of each ink cartridge, and they are all open.  Where should I go from here?

  I chose to buy a new set of printhead since no other recommendation or tests on my printer have solved the problem.

  A new firmware to restore the ePrint feature are available on hp.com, however it is currently available for MS Windows :

  I don't know if / when it wil become available for Mac OS, that's why I suggest you get a Windows PC and update of the printer, if you can have such an or can borrow a laptop to a member, family, etc.
