Photosmart HP 5510 fails to print with the nine 364XL black ink cartridge

The black cartridge HP 364 "SETUP" origin has worked well and I bought a black cartridge HP364XL via the HP Web site.

I installed the HP364XL this morning, but he is unable to leave the necessary ink on the pages.

The cartridge seems to be OK and there is no error message.  The paper passes through the usual way, but fate with no print on it.  The date on the box is September 2014, this is not out of date.

I tried to find what the problem is.  I checked the cartridge is correctly installed and it seems to have ink inside.   I tried to print using the black cartridge again and again with different parameters, such as 'Fast draft' and 'Normal', but every time the paper emerges with no impression.  The 'supply levels' shows the black cartridge about 90% full.

This is normally caused by the vent on the top of the cartridge being blocked, or a dirty print head. The document below will help you work out the problem. Let me know what happens.

    If this is the case, then

    • These people mean that perhaps it is a way of deterrence - as a way to deter you from using filled cartridges in the first place?  Personal opinion: printing software is not likely to be vindictive.
    • The results can be completely benign - the printer and/or the software may not be able to read the contents correctly the cartridges 'foreigners '.

    I was never in a position where I had to use reloaded cartridges.

    I use in my PhotoSmart 7520 564XL cartridges - HP cartridges show completely full when it is installed.  The conduct of the audit software say "estimated ink levels".

    You can get a better idea of whether the ink is actually 'low' for starters if you check the number of pages printed - compare the number when you start a new cartridge (s) (game of) for the number of sheets printed when you need to replace the cartridges.  Check the total against the number of sheets that must be printed at the size of the cartridge.

    You can check with Costco for the number of estimaterd of leaves, you can imagine by charged cartridge.

    Another important factor: the printer will answer as seems it.  If Costco said you should get 200 sheets per cartridge and you get 100 sheets, then this is what you get.  This is true for any cartridge.  You must take into account the types of documents or printed photos.

    It's certainly a bit of work for an ink cartridge - it will give you an idea of whether you are in fact save money using reloaded cartridges.

    Hello! Today, I bought a new printer, officejet 4630 and it included ink cartridges in the box.

    ISET it upward as the sheet in the box said. After I had filled in date etc, I put in the ink (and Yes, remember to check it was compatible and take the Ribbon), then this message showed on the screen and still doesn't work:

    "Problem of ink cartridges. The following ink cartridges need to be replaced"and a black dot.

    The cartridges were brand new and came in the same area as the printer.

    I tried a reset (taking the power cord, wait 60 s etc) I saw in the Hp support you need to press 'ok' to get rid of the message before restarting. I can't press ok. It sounds right. I press any button.

    Suggestions? Of course, I can try it with a new cartridge, but to pay $20 for a new cartridge, when it was included in the box and should work is not correct.

    REAL SOLUTION. I had the same experience, spent hours pulling my hair like children had project do to school and it was 22:00.  Your cart is clogged! Here IS THE SOLUTION! (: 1) remove all ink cartridges. (2) extract the carriage that circulate in the ink cartridges by lever on the right and the trolley lifting vertically. (3) wipe any accumulation of visible ink on the outside with clean cloth or paper towel. (4) THIS IS THE KEY: keep transport under hot running water to empty all the handwritten entries in the irrigation channels that distribute ink. Keep rinsing in clear water i.e. no sign of ink. (5) trolley dry with clean cloth and blowing in areas, you can access in order to remove the remains of the water. (6) let transport air-dry overnight. (7) Re-install transport, then reinstall the ink cartridges. 8) ENJOY YOUR PRINTER. (9) I saw many entries on this topic dating back two years, without real solution offered.     If the device does not black ink print, it may be a couple different things, the cause.  Have you tried to run the print head alignment feature in the configuration menu of the printer?

  • DeskJet 5550 does not print after I installed new black ink cartridge.

    I recently got a new Dell with Windows Vista 64 - bit OS.  Printer was working fine until I replaced the black ink cartridge.  Print the control page as usual after you install the cartridge, it will not print anything else now.  Not even a test page.  I tried taking the cartridge out and put it back in.  Tried to pull the plug on the back of the printer and plug it back.  Tried turning the printer off and on again.  Also tried to restart the computer.  I downloaded the HP Print Diagnostic report and could not find any problems.  Could there be a problem with the ink cartridge itself?

    Well first of all, I went and bought a different black ink cartridge to remove the cartridge in the problem.  This was not it.  Then I unplugged the printer and cleaned thoroughly and connected plug.  Still did not work.  Then I went into the properties on my printer and started to play with the settings.  FINALLY I FIXED IT!  I clicked on the tab advanced and then click Print Processor.  I then changed to WinPrint and retried the Test Page printing under the general tab and it worked!  Woo Hoo!

The black prints just a small piece of the upper part of the letters on the pages of diagnostics and in grayscale on the test pages.

Whenever you clean the printhead using the Control Panel, that it asks you if you need to make a more energetic. I think I had to do 3 or 4 cleanings in a row to get the black works correctly. My daughter has set up the printer to print in black only because she had need of color for first cleaning cartridges is not cleaned the heads of color. After my color will revive girl, we found that we needed to go through a new series of 3 or 4 cleanings. You just continue to run the head cleaning function until he starts again to print properly.

    I read a few threads where people are struggling with the question of black ink with this printer. These threads, it seems clear that HP didn't design this system very well, and I would tend to agree. Even if someone said I could find the cartridge (bowtie) smaller at Staples, I can't find it. Even if I could find it, I don't want to have 2 kinds of ink black to store all the time. And my printer does not print black with only a new XL Black 564 installed. Is there a setting I'm missing in the menu where I can choose the XL cartridge only? The manual is not clear on this, and I think it's something that should be clearly explained.

    My question is simple, and please, one who answers, read my questions and do not provide a generic incomplete response and then put a little check mark 'Resolved' next to this problem. With 3 wires, that I read on this subject, the question NOT yet resolved or fully explained.

    The printer may be used and black printing using only the right XL cartridge or do I need to have both complete and installed black cartridges to work? And a follow-up, the left cartridge (bowtie) should stay there so he works or can I remove it and keep filling the cartridge XL to go forward with the empty to the left slot. If you work for HP and you are reading this and 100% do not know the answer... call someone at HP who has designed this printer and know please let me know.

    The printer requires all cartridges having ink - they don't need to be full, but they all need to be installed and have adequate ink.  The thick black cartridge is pigmented black, mainly used for text and graphics on paper.  Thinner bowtie is the photo cartridge.  It contains dye black ink based and is designed for printing on photo paper.  Black pigmented ink is not compatible with the glossy photo media, black of the photo will be used in cases where the photo paper is selected in the driver or detected automatically.

    The Photosmart 7520 has separated from the inks and printheads, with plumbing to connect.  All inks must be present to prevent air intake in the plumbing or the print heads and keep the printheads from clogging.  See here for more information on using ink.
