Portege R500 and Novatel Modem 3G on Windows 7

Hello

someone have a solution for getting the Modem 3 G build-in novatel works on Windows 7 in a Portege R500?

I tried to install the driver for Vista 32 bit on my W7-Ultimate32bit. I have tried this driver:

http://de.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/Tracker.jsp?file=http%3A%2f%2fsupport1.toshiba-tro.de%2ftedd-files2%2F0%2fwmb-20071115155201.zip

Installation starts fine, but the installer then a fallback and stops.

What do I have to wait for a W7 driver?

Klaus

> Should I wait for a W7 driver?
I think so. You can try to use the Vista driver but there is no guarantee for correct material work.
I think that Win7 drivers will be available soon.

  • Portege R500 - Touchpad does not scroll after Windows 7 upgrade

    Hello!! Happy new year!!

I got a great Christmas present, an upgrade to windows 7, so I upgraded the operating system of my Portege R500 of Bussiness from Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium. Up here, the performance of the laptop has improved BUT the touchpad is not working properly and with correctly I mean that scrolling is not working more. I checked toshiba Web page downloads and there is no driver for the touchpad for windows 7. Is that what I can do to back the scroll function to work or is it just a matter of patience

Thanks in advance for the help

  • Portege R500 - Vista does not SP1 using windows update

    I just got a new Portege R500.

Do not specify the information of Windows Vista Service Pack 1, so I guess that's not?
But the automatic windows update does not offer to install SP1.

What I have to do it manually? How?

The other question is: is it OK to do, or are there many problems with drivers after that.

    Please help out me.

    Hello

First update of Windows is always desirable and SP1 is really necessary, because it fixes many bugs in Vista.

One of the reasons why Windows Vista doesn't automatically update the SP1 version, is that SP1 can be installed.
Check if SP1 has been installed. To do this follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, right-click computer and then click Properties.
    2. Windows Vista SP1 is installed, you will see a reference to Windows Vista SP1 is displayed at the bottom of the Windows edition section

However, I found a useful document of Microsoft Knowledge that could help you to update SP1

  • Portege R500 and SSD update

    I have a Portege R500-S5006V with a 64 GB SSD installed.
Currently I have space issues, but always so happy with this nice computer I don't want to replace it.

Is it possible to upgrade to an SSD more? What kind of readers are compatible?
I need to send to Toshiba, or a regular computer repair shop can do this for me?

I think that the SSD in this machine is not a standard 2.5 "SATA or IDE Drive, it is 1.8" and has a ZIF connector and runs as an IDE device.

Do a google search for "IDE ZIF SSD" and you will find a few commands which can be compatible. In theory, they should work in the R500, but I'm not 100% sure.

An FSL can install for you for a fee.

  • Portege R500 and Toshiba optical Tilt-Wheel Mouse

    Hello

I have a problem with my Portege R500 combined with my Toshiba optical Tilt-Wheel Mouse. I use Win XP Pro SP2.

When using the laptop will cut the mouse. If I plug the mouse into a different USB port, I can use the mouse for a while, but it does not stop.

Then the same problem, but a reconnection to another work of doesn´t of USB port.
I use the original Microsoft win xp driver.

    Hoody Bye

Have you received the special XP driver with this mouse?
    If Yes, then install it.

But to my knowledge it s common USB mouse that needs to use a plug n play

Then maybe you should check the USB settings.

Go to Device Manager and open the USB bus controller tree
Here, you must mark the unique USB root hubs and select Properties.

In the Management tab to disable the function allow the computer to turn off this device

In addition I recommend upgrading the XP to the last State. I want to say that all fixes and patches must be installed!

    Good luck

  • Portege R500 and Wireless connectivity N

I just bought a new Portege R500 with wireless capabilities N, through the pre-installed Intel 4965agn wireless adapter.

The problem is that it does not connect to the router Dlink 2740 b mode only wirelessN. The only way I can connect it is in when the router is in the mode of GBS and it connects to 54 members.
No idea why the N Wireless does not work?

    Arnaldo

Perhaps that the wifi router doesn't support the standard 802.11 N wirelesses

I think you should check your router WLan properties.

    Hello

Have you tested an external mouse on the laptop? It work?
The touchpad is listed in Device Manager?

Normally, you can enable or disable the touchpad through FN + F9. Did you check that?
You may need to install the package of value added for this.

    Hello

you have installed ICQ? If Yes, then you know what this "object", it s the sign that ICQ is running in the background. It s also another application that runs in the background and place a symbol somewhere around the desktop computer.

Could you please tell me what 3rd party applications are installed on your computer? It would be useful to know, perhaps we can understand what the weird symbol...

  • Intermittent Bluetooth on Portege R500

I have a hardware problem intermittent with the Bluetooth adapter in my two - month, Portege R500 and I would appreciate any comments or second opinions before you attack me it as a warranty issue.

I use a Bluetooth mouse with my R500 and it was fine for the first five weeks. Then I kept noticing that the mice would be dead for a few seconds at a time. Whenever it happens that the machine does the 'Vista' connect device or its "disconnect device" (a kind of twang). Since yesterday, it has reached the point where there are about ten twang events an hour but the Bluetooth remains ever work for more than a few seconds.

I found that an easy way to monitor the issue is to disable the external Bluetooth devices (to totally eliminate their effects), leave open device with the Bluetooth expanded element Manager and increase the volume up to hear the "twang" that signals an event of default. Every time that happens refresh the window Dev man and objects reappear or disappear from the entrance of Bluetooth. When everything is ok the following five recommendations are present, but now, for most of the time, there are only RFCOMM.

    a? ¢ RFBNEP Bluetooth
    a? ¢ RFBUS Bluetooth
    a? ¢ Bluetooth RFCOMM
    a? ¢ RFHID Bluetooth
    a? ¢ Bluetooth USB Controller-5 at Toshiba

When I run the diagnostics of Bluetooth for 'check communication with Bluetooth device' translates 'bankrupt '. The Bluetooth stack was originally v5.10.14 (T). I replaced it with the 6.10.10 new and this has worked, but intermittency is unchanged, so this seems to rule out software problems. Anything I do, as to move the machine or restart, seems to affect when an "event" occurs; don't change when the machine heats or cools.

In any case it is now obtained in the step where Bluetooth is not usable more so it seems I have to deal with the guaranteed repair procedure.

You're right about this Johnson. If they see that you have removed the screws on your own it can void the warranty. Be careful with this. You have very expensive laptop and warranty should be valid or maybe you should expand it buy an extended warranty.

    In any case, good luck!

  • No sound on Portege R500

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Portege R500, and there is no sound.
In the Device Manager I checked the drivers and hardware and it seems to be ok.
I did test sound with the sound of Windows and it did not work.
I have good gear wheel in the front of the laptop, no sound.
I use Windows Vista Business SP1.
Can you help me? Should I use a specific software from Toshiba?

    Kind regards

OK, you already checked wheel in front of your laptop. Make sure it is not disabled via the FN + ESC key combination.

The other thing could be, she is silent in sound options or level is set to low.
    Got to control panel configuration-sounds.

There should be a green mark on the speaker icon. Enter the properties and go to the level and put them to 100. Check that there are no red symbol above the speaker symbol.

  • Replacing the screen on Portege R500

    Hello

I have a Portege R500 and I managed to break the screen.
Part number is LTD121EWEK. Do I need to replace it with the same or are they some compatible screens which will be adapted?

    Thank you
    Wooju

It is always best to use the same parts. So you'll be sure that everything will be OK.
Question on other compatible screens is interesting, but I don't think anyone here can give a definitive answer or.

Contact the nearest service Toshiba and ask for help. They have access to the database of Toshiba and they can check which screens can be used on this portable Portege model.

By the way: I found the same info that you can use LCD TDG (LTD121EWEK) on the internet.
