Premium Photosmart CN503AA: Photosmart Premium C310a is no longer prints black

My Photosmart Premium C310a printer print is darker.  The following information may be useful:

  • Product number: CN503A, model number C310a
  • Two PC printer: we're a Windows 8.1 operating system (64-bit) and the other is a Windows 7

So far, I conducted the following remediation efforts:

  • Replace the ink cartridge
  • Used HP support assistance to try to clean the printer and align the printer.  Alignment failed.
  • Replace the print head with a refurbished HP printhead.  (This also includes cleaning the area specified in the replacement instructions).
  • The printer still does not print in black.
  • Tried to align the print head.  He failed.

Any suggestions?  The printer is no longer guaranteed.

I read on how your Photosmart C310a is no longer printing black, and you've tried several unsuccessful troubleshooting steps.

My suggestion for you would be to try a print head soak. See this post for instructions. Please follow them with caution: Re of Solution accepted: black ink does not

    My Photosmart Premium 309 a printer will not print black text. Just imagined colors.

    I tried new cartridges (twice - at great expense!) head cleaning, cleaning deep head, aligning the head and tried to soak the printhead in hot water several times now and then cleaning and deep cleaning again and then yet another new series of cartridges, still no black - not a pinch!

    Would it be a mistake to electrical connection with the contacts? Or is the print head itself a goner - seems such a simple plastic device, ok electronics in contacts can be more complex, but not much to go wrong.

    I don't think I have done something to damage the print head when the occurreed first problem, but with all the plug and put back and soaking in hot water (let dry naturally) I can't guarantee that it is not damaged because, although I was careful and everything seems ok.

    I am also puzzled as to where ink is going on because the black cartridges I used trying to solve this problem have certainly been empty but the ink is not reaching the paper - looks like the blooming thing could swim ink now but it seems pretty clean!

    Any advice welcome.

    Printer cannot print black ink. I ran the cycle of cleaning several times. The cartridge is new. Gets moderate use with periods where it is not used. The printer is out of warranty. Mention was made in another series of posts on this problem that there may be more specific than just running instructions once again the cleaning cycle.

    Similar problem had to change print head I kept the old and it very dirty to I will try to clean and keep it for a spare part.  You could remove cartage and try to clean up the background and that could save buy you the new printhead

    I have a Photosmart HP 5510 e-All-in-one printer and after replacement of a black cartridge empty with a new, the printer will print is darker. I tried all the solutions on HP Support forum.

    I have inserted a new black HP (not a photo black) cartridge, provided it was properly ventilated and put, ran the print head, smear routines and the alignment of ink. I printed the status report (funny because he's white with the exception of a few areas of color). I printed the report quality - the colors were there but not black. I even restored it to factory defaults.

    My WIN7 laptop has the latest HP drivers and wireless printer is turned on and connected, so I guess he can receive firmware updates.

    It becomes even more strange that if I print from a printer (that is, the crossword) embedded applications it print a grey color with muted where (probably), it would be black.

    The printer is 5 months out of warranty...

    I see that a few other people have had the same problem. Is that what someone has solved?

    I use Windows 7 to print to the printer HP Photosmart Plus B210 Series. The black cartridge has been listed as half full, but I installed a new black cartridge with no improvement.     I have completed the troubleshooting steps and nothing fixed the problem. I even followed the instructions for soaking the printhead for 10 minutes in hot water. I guess that the printhead has gone bad and needs replaced. Thanks for your help.

    My printer has stopped printing in black ink. Tried several black cartridges, cleaned automatically several times, but no printerhead. The other colors work very well. I feel out of the printerhead and clean it manually, but then of course I buy another printer. Any good advice out there?

    I work with XP, and all other functions works well.

    Troubleshooting document here can help solve problems with black ink print do not.  Make sure that the black wind don't is not clogged, as indicated in this document.

    My HP Photosmart Premium C309g (CD055A) will not print black ink even if the cartridge is full. He's going through the motions of printing but the pages come out blank. It prints colors, they are not as dark as before, so I know that black is not working. I have cleaned the print heads, turned off the printer, unplug the printer, restarted the computer, but nothing works. I get colors on the report of the print quality, but the printer status report comes out blank. I bought a new black ink cartridge (564XL) think the previous one was defective (levels showed a 75% ink) but I still have the same problem. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

    I see you have done some troubleshooting on the issue of the print quality that you are experiencing.  I would make sure you did all the troubleshooting steps available for your research problem in the document following the link.

    Print colors are the colors should not when the C309 Photosmart Premium printing.

    If you have completed all these steps, then I check the status of your printer warranty.  If it is out of warranty, you should consider the solution provided by Bob_Headrick in the thread found here.

    I tried to unplug the power plug, power switch, cleaning of the printheads several times (manually), cartridge to give a little air, checked the connections, replacement of cartridge again. Nothing helps.

    Browse the internet: it seems that this problem occurs with the most HP printers.

    See for example: some forum someone temporarily solves the problem by performing cleaning operations for (more than) 7 times, which cost five new cartridges to replace, and after a month or if the problem recurs.

    I wouldn't do this because I don't want to empty an another XL cartridge and then discover the problem recurs.

    The printer (bought in April 2010) is connected through the USB port on a Mac Pro 8Core with OS - X 10.6 (I always use only paper HP and HP original cartridges)

    This "Absolutely" worked for my c309! He started printing gray yesterday, then I finally got the blank pages. My first thought was that HP has screwed me again! lol but I tried the post above... I have unplugged the printer for more than 25 seconds, held down the 3 and # buttons simultaneously for another 25 dry more plugged in printer and now the buttons down then made for another 25 sec.  Had to reset the lang. and the country, but after a few minutes he printed a perfect test page and I was able to print all my docs now!  It was a solution easy vs on the removal of the water and heads/cartridge, etc.  I would try this first and if it doesn't work, then you can try other patches.     I understand that you have found an error code after the cleaning of the print head of your Photosmart Premium C310A.

    Usually, the error refers to a print head or of ink system failure.

    He could have maybe been damaged during cleaning.

    I bought a HP Photosmart Premium C310a this weekend. Everything works fine except the scan. This is what the problem is:

    When I try to scan (through the centre of solutions) I get an error message as soon as scanning starts software (hpiscnapp.exe) that says: (translation of the Dutch for some of them may not be accurate) the scan cannot be made because the HP imagingdevice has a network and is used by another program or computer. Try again later.

    Description of the error extended; 4, [(0,400,80004005), (2,33,80040013), (3,33,0)]

    Nothing (no other program or computer) is using the scanner at the moment. The strange thing is I have Windows 7 64-bit systems and on the system, 32-bit and Windows 7 32-bit system works very well.  [EDIT: just encountered the same error on the PORTABLE 32-bit too :-(]

    Scanning from the façade C310a and selecting the computer also translate this error.

    Wireless connection to the C310a directly via an "ad hoc" connection does not either.

    I deleted all HP components (including using the abduction utillity L4) and them reinstalled several times. Through the page Web of the C310a scanning is possible, but with resolutions lower (max 600 dpi). I ran the diagnostic HP, no result (HPPS.exe) program.

    Context: C310a is wireless in the same network as the three laptop computers box.

    Laptops: 2 x Windows 7 64-bit, 1 x Windows 7 32 bit

    No problem: 1 x Windows 7 32 bit [EDIT: just encountered the same error on the PORTABLE 32-bit too :-(]

    Problem: 2 x Windows 7 64 bit.

    Been strugling with this problem for a few days. Would be very happy if someone knows how to solve this problem.

    Hi Travis (and maybe somebody else who will have the same problem in the future).

    So I finally got to do the work. Here's what I did. I backed up my data, wiped my laptop completely and reinstalled all software, including 64-bit Windows. Now everything works flawelessly. Don't ask me why, or what caused the problem because I know and still can not understand.

    At least everythings works as it should and I hope it will stay like that.

    I bought a HP Photosmart Premium C310a and now I am trying install the drivers for it on my new computer with Windows 7 x 64. I tried only the driver (PS_AIO_07_C310_FSW_Basic_Win_rus_140_246.exe), and the full package (PS_AIO_07_C310_FSW_Full_Win_rus_140_246.exe) official website - both of them give me the same error: when I agree with the license terms, the installation checks the update and then disappears without notice or cause.

    Please help me as soon as POSSIBLE.

    PS: I can't find the original CD.

    HP Photosmart Premium C310A... Error message indicates that the smaller black cartridge is missing.

    I bought a black XL and put it in the slot of the largest. I threw the small cartridge and now the printer does nothing with an enpty slot.  I went to the store and bought a new rear cartridge that said XL on the box.  When I got home it IS a XL and custom insert into the smaller slot. Stores here carry not more the smaller cartridge for blacks.  It's so frustrating.  This printer has been a huge disappointment. Even when I have all new cartridges I don't get over 10 pages until the ink is gone. It is $ 3.00 per page to print in black only or in color. (BS.)

    How can I get this printer to bypass the smaller cartridge slot and read more?

    The smaller "black" cartridge is a photo cartridge.  You need to replace the photo cartrdige, the printer cannot print without all cartridges installed.  (Further - withdrawal from a tape for a long time will allow the print head to dry out, which can cause damage permamant...)
