  I have this problem with my player optical dm4-1165dx since I bought it. I was able to remedy this when I had it in warranty (hp support), but now I have reinstall the windows and the problem came back. I remember, the HP guy told me to make a few changes in the registry and it work perfectly. Unfortunately, I did not spare the solution. Please help me if you know the secret!

• Solutions to the problem of CD/DVD drive cannot read DVD discs

• Problem reading DVD (SD-R6112) on the Satellite P10 804 under Xp Pro SP2

  My Toshiba DVD SD-R6112 (P10-804) now reads no DVD-r it just to burn with Nero 6.6
  The sysmtoms/anamnesis is therefore
  (1) it used to work fine. That is, that I never had a problem with playing on the P10 DVD, that I burned on the P10
  (2) DVDs burned before (before a few weeks ago) on the P10 continues to be readable on the P10
  (3) BUT DVD burned recently (5 or 10 last burned on 2 different types of media and two different burners) can be read in the drive of P10. The DVD is not yet recognized - it sometimes changes shape explorer DVD - RW CD - R, but that's all. No file, no nothing.

  I can't install 2 DVD from Premiere Elements (included in the DVD 1 of Photoshop). • Qosmio overheats after an hour and some ODD does not read some DVD

  I've had my Qosmio for about 4 months now, and everything has been for the most part works well. Recently, it seems that my computer has heating in an hour or two more.

  I used to be on it all day when I got it and never came across this problem. I checked the 'suckage' of the air vents on the bottom and noticed that one of the two events seem to be sucking air.   When I got my laptop hard drive wouldn't read no matter WHAT disc I put in it. It wouldn't read any games, I tried to download. So I called toshiba tech support and they helped me to get it fixed and now it will read my games and CD but it will not always read my DVD I try and watch.

  Should I call tech support and ask for help again?

  Drive hard internal don t support each CD or DVD and in my experience the reader on the portable internal lens is more sensitive than on external drives.
