Problem reading CD/DVD

Hello

My vista laptop CD drive is not read or write. I uninstalled and restart the player but still does not work. I used fix it Center to solve the problem and could not fix it. The problem that poster is 'media in the CD/DVD drive is not readable. How can this be repaired? If it helps, IDE ATA, DMA as a couple of readers have no option to activate and these channels of two disks is not activated. Thank you

Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
the parameters.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

You can probably find more info here and maybe even the exact registry for your CD/DVD settings
drive from someone with the same model.

Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)

  • Solutions to the problem of CD/DVD drive cannot read DVD discs

This article will tell you 3 ways to solve the problem of the CD/DVD drive do not read the DVD disc. Please the process step by step.

    Solution1. Clean the DVD disc

If your Player cannot detect the DVD disc, the first thing you need to do is to clean the DVD disc. Use a soft and dry cloth (not painted) to wipe the disc from the center of the disc to the edge. Please take care to not to use a paper to clean the disc with a circular motion, it will scratch the disc.

After cleaning, inert the DVD on the drive to see if it works, if the reader can't read the disc, use a cloth of cotton wet with water or alcohol to clean the disc. After the disc dry, inert re the disc on the drive. If the reader can read, the operation is complete. If this isn't the case, please turn to the option2.

Option2. Check the disc to see if it has been damaged

Draw the DVD from the drive and check if there are some scratches or small cracks on the disc. If the disc is damaged, please try another DVD disc to see if the drive can read. If the drive cannot recognize the new disk, there could be a problem with the CD/DVD drive. Please turn to solution 3.

Solution3. Clean or repair the CD/DVD drive

When a CD/DVD drive has been used for a long time, its ability to play disc will only get worse. Then, the reader can not read some discs, or blocking your computer in the middle of the reading disc. This is usually due to the aging of certain parts of the disc, CD/DVD player dirty.

Open the drive to check if the DVD reader accumulates dust and dirt, if so, the cold air from the hair dryer allows you to clean the inside of the DVD drive. Be sure to not blow on the optical sensor orally, or clean it with a cloth of cotton with water or alcohol. After cleaning, insert a DVD disc on the drive to see if it works. If still no, you need to call the s command customer service or take the reader to a computer repair shop.

  • Problem reading DVD (SD-R6112) on the Satellite P10 804 under Xp Pro SP2

My Toshiba DVD SD-R6112 (P10-804) now reads no DVD-r it just to burn with Nero 6.6
    The sysmtoms/anamnesis is therefore
    (1) it used to work fine. That is, that I never had a problem with playing on the P10 DVD, that I burned on the P10
    (2) DVDs burned before (before a few weeks ago) on the P10 continues to be readable on the P10
    (3) BUT DVD burned recently (5 or 10 last burned on 2 different types of media and two different burners) can be read in the drive of P10. The DVD is not yet recognized - it sometimes changes shape explorer DVD - RW CD - R, but that's all. No file, no nothing.
    (4) these same (unreadable by P10) DVD is very well played on two other DVD players I have (Freecom USB and divx standalone player). The drive can read the DVD (USB Freecom) CDFS file system reports, no free space (Nero 6.6.0.14 was said to not to allow future sessions) and all appear normal.

The DVD driver is Microsoft 5.1.2535.0 1/7/2001. The DVD 1031 firmware revision.

Nero was the only program running when the DVD is burned (no file to add). The verified OK after burning DVD.
I can't find an update of the firmware on the Toshiba site so I'm a little stuck on what to do next
    Any ideas?

    Hello

I read in several journals, computer and on some sites that not all drives are compatible with all media. Sometimes, readers cannot read the media burned because of the 3rd party software that prevents access to the media or files.
Generally, it is not easy to say why some readers read and write media and some readers cannot handle the same media. There are many factors.

Sometimes, the firmware update will help you resolve problems with reading or writing.
I found this SD-R6112 page with a driver for this device and the latest firmware version.

  • Problem reading Captivate 6 on Vista installation DVD

I just got my copy of Captivate 6 on a DVD for Windows. I would like to install 6 Captivate on a PC running Windows Vista 64-bit service pack 2.

My DVD player can not open the installation DVD to start even the installation. Is there a way I can install 6 Captivate on my system?

PS - I already paid for this copy of Captivate 6.

Well, it is a mystery. After asking the question, I downloaded and installed the trial version and then used the product code for the version purchased to get a serial number. It worked.

I also tried on the installation DVD on another computer with Windows 7, and he began to autorun as expected.

I then returned to my PC Vista, inserted a former Acrobat DVD installation, which began in the autorun as expected. I removed the Acrobat installation DVD and inserted the new Captivate 6 installation DVD, and magically it started autorun this time.

It must have been my optical drive, but I don't know why he read the DVD this time and not others.  (Never had any error message. The computer just did not read all the data on the disc and was always looking for media to be inserted. "Maybe something is slightly misaligned?)

In any case, the problem is resolved and the software is installed and registered. Thanks for your reply.

  • Problem reading DVD items

I can't install 2 DVD from Premiere Elements (included in the DVD 1 of Photoshop). I reinstalled Windows and tried to install Premiere Elements again, but my DVD player will not read the DVD even if I do not see the scratches (I always spend the DVD between the box and the DVD player - nowhere elsewhere).

Is it possible to download the contents of the DVD? I can send pictures of the DVD as 'evidence', and I use my serial number on the back of the case.

  • Qosmio overheats after an hour and some ODD does not read some DVD

    OK here is the first:

I've had my Qosmio for about 4 months now, and everything has been for the most part works well. Recently, it seems that my computer has heating in an hour or two more.

I used to be on it all day when I got it and never came across this problem. I checked the 'suckage' of the air vents on the bottom and noticed that one of the two events seem to be sucking air. I was wondering if one is saposed to work, if it didn't is that you say, I have to do to solve this problem.

    Second question:
When I got my laptop hard drive wouldn't read no matter WHAT disc I put in it. It wouldn't read any games, I tried to download. So I called toshiba tech support and they helped me to get it fixed and now it will read my games and CD but it will not always read my DVD I try and watch.

Should I call tech support and ask for help again?

    Thanks for the help

    Hey,.

What laptop Qosmio you have exactly?
On the problem of overheating can dust blocks a good air circulation. You must clean your laptop with a jet of compressed air. This can blow the dust from the cooling fans. Spray of compressed air can be bought from every store in the computer normally.

Regarding your other question, can start you on DVD for example? You should try to remove the upper and lower filters in the registry: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
May be there is dust on the lens. You need to clean the lens of the CD/DVD drive using a microfibre cloth. It s worth a try! ;)

  • Satellite P200 - HD-DVD Player Toshiba can not read HD-DVD

    Hello.

I have a problem with my Satellite P200-1: can not read HD DVD. There is a message that says that the video may not be in an external device.

The problem is the same if I try on the screen of the laptop or on the TV (Sony Bravia Full HD) with HDMI. I have the latest driver and software for vista sp1 installed...

    Some have an idea?
    Sorry to talk so badly...

  • Re: My driver TEAC DV-w28ECT used to read DVD and CD now it reads only DVDs

My TEAC DV-w28ECT driver used to read DVDs and CDs, now, he reads only DVDs. What's happened and how can I solve this problem? I have Windows Vista

Try to remove the CD/DVD filters in the registry.
When the associated CD/DVD (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), the software is installed, they install filters in the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.

    (1) run Regedit (start-> Run-> Regedit)
    2) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    (3) in the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key and delete the key "LowerFilters".
    (4) restart.

If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).

This utility can remove the filters for you:

    My Satellite A300 - 1st Don t read CD - R and CD - RW worse or unburned, it only read´s DVD´s.
Please can you give me a helping hand for this problem.

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all, you should check if are some registry issues.
Go to the register a remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Then restart the device and check if you could read the CD.

I had a lot of problems with different discs (CDs and DVDs) as well
I could solve the problem. the problem is that my CD/DVD drive is not compatible with some CD and DVD from different manufacturers

Finally, I bought some TDK CD - R and my CD/DVD player has been able to manage these disks
I think you should check the different discs from different manufacturers too!

Last but not least check if there is an update of the firmware of CD/DVD for you, CD/DVD player.
To do this, you should visit checking page European driver Toshiba details more details.
You will find the info if the firmware has been published for you CD/DVD drive.

  • Satellite A200 - Mat * randomly a UJ-850 s does not read certain DVD or CD

    Hello

    I have problems with my dvd player Mat * a UJ - 850 s (firmware 1.40)

Randomly, he's not reading certain dvd or cd.

I called Toshiba support and they asked me to update the firmware.

I explained that there are 3 updates of firmware for a player of TSS (NEC) DVD from Toshiba Web site but * NOTHING * for MAST * A

They asked me to install the Toshiba disc reboot before sending to repair. Today I had time to fix it, but it does not read the startup disk!

So I ask for Toshiba to publish an update of firmware for Mat * a UJ - 850 s

What you mean under some CD or DVD?

It is well known that something like this can happen. Because of this if you write here on self made CD/DVD, use empty brackets just high quality.

  • Satellite P200-1EE does not read HD DVD drive TS-L802A HD

I bought a P200-1EE of PC World and have found since that she has huge problems for reading HD DVDs via HD Toshiba DVD player software.

I bought the last movie of Harry Potter of Warner Brothers to test the drive. Player software launches (after recognizing the media) once I inserted the disc to hd, but it crashes then once he eventually tries to read the disc. I know that the drive is ok because it worked without any problem on the Xbox HD dvd player, and on about 60 attempts, he played twice!

The guys from PC World pulled a 1EE another P200 of their warehouse and after it is autoconfig he had the same problems, that is to say he ran the player then locked with a black screen (no error) and we finish the task the software does not respond.

I'm a little frustrated and can not find the Board of anywhere. I have updated the bios of laptop computers, but can not find updates the firmware for Player software or drive. The driver doesn'tseem to have updates or the other (version 6.0.6000.16386)

I have an exceptional appeal with Tosh but I hope someone else can have solved something similar.

I am also looking for support playing movies through the HDMI cable, if I can get the laptop working.

Thanks for your time my dear SIRS.

    Hello

You use the Toshiba HD DVD player?
If yes-> trying to update from Toshiba's HD DVD player with the update published on the Qosmio G30.
There is an update of this utility, and the original version must be installed to perform this update!

But please don t forget a fact; HD DVD technology is very recent, and not all movies have been designed with the same level.
Sometimes may occur that the player will manage all HD DVD.

Of course, you could try to test other HD DVD movies to ensure that equipment (HD-DVD player) is not defective

  • Satellite M30X: reader will not read the DVD-R data but plays movies in DVD-R and CD

    I have a Toshiba M30X with combi DVD/CDRW drive.
I have accumulated 12 GB of digital photo I wanted to erase but do not want the number of CDs that can be the so I bought an external DVD LITEON EZ - DUB and made 3 DVD - R burner of plenty of JPEG.
However, when I put the DVD in the drive of Toshiba combi, it clicks for a moment or two, but when I click on the combi drive in my computer, the folder is empty and it is said there are 0 bytes.
CD of still works, audio and data, DVD movies fine, reading DVD-R on my Pioneer DVD recorder (for TV - looks like a video/nothing to do with PC) plays very well, but he won't recognise DVD - r with data (JPEG or MP3) on them.

It makes no difference what software was used (Nero 6.6) and LITEON EZDUB and it's okay if the discs are completed, a single session, multi session or what - it will not play any of them.
However, these discs work perfectly in my old office to 7 years with a Sony DVD/CDRW combination of 4 years.
    I'm puzzled.
I don't particularly want to reinstall windows, in the case where it does not recognize the recovery DVDs and I remember Microsoft a Note having activated by phone with a code that is different every time you ask him to generate a.
It's a bit of pain that I wanted to make my pictures with me in my laptop bag.
I won't be carting around an external DVD burner just to read the DVD.
    I've updated the firmware for SD - R 2512.
He had no other effect freeze on a black screen on restart - I had to hold down the switch 15 minutes in this State.
The laptop is 1 year and 26 days if that counts for anything.

Anyone have any ideas? Or can I just put up with him.

    Hello

Well, I can only make suggestions.
You are able to place files many MP3 and Jpeg on DVD.
This is perhaps a reason why Explorer cannot handle the DVD.

Try to burn the DVD with photo JEPG, but do not have the full DVD with these files.
You must leave a free space on the media. Maybe it helps.

But it's very strange for me and it's just a suggestion. I've never tired it and don't know if it helps.
I had a similar problem on my laptop but I solved using compatible media. Some readers prefer different media for different types of files.

    Hi all

running a Toshiba Portege M500, WXP SP2, the v3.30 BIOS Home
    Matsu * a DVD-RAM UJ-842 drive with firmware 1.01.

My problem is that the drive will not read overburned DVD + r - reports "disk may be corrupted or using a format that is not compatible with windows."

Discs read fine on desktop (Sony DRU-810 has, 1.0E firmware), IBM Thinkpad Combo drive, and sweep good PIE/PIF graphics. So I think it's a compatibility issue with the player on the Toshiba firmware. I rarely overburn by more than 30 MB, so there is a lot of writing on the left surface.

Any chance there is an updated firmware that improves compatibility of the player on the Toshiba?

    See you soon,.
    C.

    Hello

I put t know if the firmware update will help you but generally it s not the best idea to burn on the media.
Drive hard internal don t support each CD or DVD and in my experience the reader on the portable internal lens is more sensitive than on external drives.

In my opinion, you should try to burn data to DVD + R properly and not overburn
