Question of shared recovery Site

Here's my scenario.  I need to test VMware View and SRM.  I plan to use scripts provided by EMC to help with view and SRM because the view was not really made to be able to test in a DR scenario.

I have two vCenters in a production data center.  One is used for my normal "servers" and is vCenter 4.1 x 64.   The other vCenter is used for VMware View host computers, I have this vCenter (called "VDI") because I use View Composer and it is not compatible with x 64 servers.

On the site of DR, I have a vCenter.  It is currently running vCenter 4.0.  Now, I know that I can have a shared with MRS recovery site, but virtual machines can also be shared?

For example, should I perform a test of SRM which includes a production vCenter my "Server" domain controller and also include the view virtual machines that are part of the other 'VDI' vCenter in my production?

Thank you!

First of all, what version of MRS. you plan to use? You mentioned the two vCenter 4.1 and 4.0. SRM 4.1 is not compatible with vCenter 4.0 and SRM 4.0.x is not compatible with vCenter 4.1 (SRM versions must be the same at all sites).

Regarding your question, I have not implemented recovery shared functionality, but as far as I know, even in this configuration you can still pair site independently, i.e. protected satellite site SRM and SRM instance of its corresponding recoverysite instance. So I don't think that the associations for the Protection of several sites will be available to include in the unique recovery plan.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hello

We have an installer of the SRM 1-to-many, well at the moment, it looks more like 1-1 because there is only a match.

    When I install the original SRM I used shared recovery option VMware srm - 4.1.1 - 340092.exe /V "CUSTOM_SETUP = 1"

Now, I would like to add another code of SRM: for a new pairing, and whenever I run VMware-srm - 4.1.1 - 340092.exe /V "CUSTOM_SETUP = 1" I have two repair options or on delete. " In all of the literature I read, I'm suppose to open a window with the option to install another plugin custom id?

  • shared recovery of SRM - upgraded site

I would like to ask communities how others deal with the vSphere / SRM / new in the version of the SRA. We have a number of clients who are matched with ourselves. All of us are in version 5.0 (vSphere + RS)... Us v4.1 and EVERYONE upgraded to v5.0 when we had a new client came on board who needed v5.0 (as you know)... Now we have a number of customers who would also like to use this service and vSphere 5.1. This would mean that we would need to upgrade to everyone and ourselves to 5.1.

For me the shared recovery site becomes unmanageable for these reasons... An administrative nightmare of site VMware release new versions on a regular basis that are shared recovery.

    Am I missing something?

    Hello

It is not problem, but unfortunately there is currently no plan to this address. At least not in the near future.

Consider opening a feature request. As more customers will request this feature, most likely it will be addressed in the future provided.

  • RAC replication environment in a disaster recovery Site

Hi all, in my environment I must reproduce the main site on a recovery site disaster. I use the network at high speed between the two sites and the data on file systems shared on two of SEM (one on the primary) and one on the site of the disaster related synchronously.
My environment's RAC ORACLE 11 g 2, with AIX 6.1 and clusters of twins between the primary recovery and disaster sites.
Recovery site servers have IP addresses and different IP names and names of main site.
I mean, I installed my first ORACLE RAC, but I don't know how to install ORACLE RAC in the Dr site after a disaster.
    I have a few questions:
    (1) how should install ORACLE RAC in the recovering site, based on SAN storage that is constantly in overrided by replication of the primary storage to the storage of physical recovery? of course, the recovering site, ORACLE RAC is usually kept off-line, but I don't know how to organize the alignment between the two (primary and recovery) ORACLE environments and how to make the process of taking control.
    Please, can you tell me?

    Thank you

    Marco

    Hi Marco,.
I think you should be able to start.

Have you implemented this or being implemented?

I don't know about the behavior of replication SAN disk OCR/vote. But we use it for the database unique instance and it works fine.

I also suggest you open SR with oracle support on this subject.

  • Recovery site - redundant VPN peers

Hello all, thank you in advance for your expertise.

We put in place a recovery site disaster that will host the redundant copies of our servers and critical data in Kansas City.  When disaster strikes, our headquarters site would be totally gone.

We currently have 7 locations that communicate to our HQ via VPN tunnels (whether on a circuit of the Internet or on a circuit of Cox Communications Ethernet WAN).  Branch sites each can an ISR of Cisco 2821 router.  At Headquarters and on the DR site, we use a Cisco ASA 5510 to terminate VPN tunnels and do everything that our column spinal routing.  Routing on the ASA and branch routers is all static, using a routing protocol would be a nice update in the future... any ideas?  We use IPSEC VPN lan lan tunnels 2, no GRE/VPN is used because it is not terminated by the ASA.

What is the best way to configure my routers for branch to automatically or manually failover to connect to one ASA different site of DR?

In addition, if my seat is still in place, but either my Internet or Cox headquarters ethernet circuit breaks down.  How can I re - route all traffic in a loop to the seat on the right remains a circuit?

Is there a better way to do what I want to accomplish?  BGP is not an option at this point due to its complexity.

    Lucas,

To circumvent the two point separately.

The best way to provide active / standby time of reundancy is preferred peer in cryptographic cards (on the ISR routers).

You can choose to establish VPN to HQ and only if HQ is not aid you to DR, when HQ is you will EVENTUALLY return to it.

The answer to share of your questions may also be the preferred option by peers (and several counterparts in a crypto map entry).

This being said, you can try to send OSPF traffic to IPsec tunnel (and using the neighbor command to avoid the manipulation of mcast in pure IPsec).

    HTH,

    Marcin

    P. S.

If you want my personal opion, chaning ASAs in HQ and DR sites and put you in routers could make DMVPN or DVTI-ASIT scenario which gives you a lot more features ;-)

    Hello

    > First of all, is it safe?

    recovery process is completely safe.

    > Second, he will restore C: and D:, or just C:?

He will restore the os with the settings on drive C;. Local d it will create image file from hard drive which I know.

    > Can I run 32-bit incompatible somehow on my 64-bit?

It depends on the application. I mean, do a right-click on the application and choose properties where you can Compatible mode.

    > Finally, it clears so Ubuntu?

If it is installed on local d: I guess that will erase. To be honest, is not sure

I want to format my PC, but I'm with some (stupid) questions...

But there is no reference to Microsoft Windows (like the ones you buy for desktop computers)...

Easy: it's the CD that I can format my PC? Windows XP is included in it?

Thanks for your valuable help! :-)

    Hello Daniel

There are no stupid questions but sometimes stupid answers (maybe mine too). ;)

I hope that this one will be good and useful for you. Each new laptop comes with the pre-installed operating system. When you pay the notebook also purchased operating system. A single copy and license belongs to you. Toshiba create a disc of recovery for clients, and this recovery disk contains the operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba designed tools and utilities and also some applications like WinDVD or Norton antivir software. All this software allows you full use on the first day.

Facilities process is quite complicated, especially for people without much experience. Because of this, Toshiba usual to make the OS simply possible facilities. In just 20 minutes (after the recovery procedure) OS and all hardware components will be configured correctly.

Be careful with the recovery media delivered. Protect it from damage and treasure. Who knows how many times you must use it in the future.

If you have any other questions about the recovery procedure, please write again. Here you will find useful tips how to use and optimize HARD disk space at the same time.

  • Question about the recovery partition

    Hello.

I have a question about the recovery of HARD drive partition.

If I do the operation to clear the hard disk option in the wizard it will remove * all * or it will keep my partition recovery in this way I can come back later. I want to know because I would like to put on a different OS.

I know he said he would, but caution in the PDF, I found it says that on a normal recovery too (that he would remove each partition) and I'm a little confused about how the recovery actually worked.

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest I n don't know what you mean exactly with this option to erase.

In General, Toshiba Recovery disk will wipe your entire HDD to restore factory settings correctly. This means that if you start from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen, everything will be removed.

In addition, the recovery disk doesn t create a recovery partition. It is not available. Disk copy just the files on the second partition in folder HDDrecovery to start an installation of HARD drive recovery.

I don't remember my password or security questions, and email recovery is an old, that I no longer use. What can I do?

You will need to contact support in the country where you are (and therefore the country on your account) for questions (and the password) reset: Contact Apple for the Apple ID account security support

If your country is not on this page, then try this form to contact Support: https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html

When they have been reset you can then update your email address of relief for possible future use: on your Apple ID - Apple Support email addresses

Or if it is available in your country, you can substitute 2-step verification: frequently asked questions about two-step for Apple ID verification

  • Re: Several questions about the recovery of the Satellite L750 features

I have several questions about the recovery of Satellite L750 features available to it. Any help and answers would be useful.

    (1) when I started the laptop first, he asked me to create a recovery CD incase I need to reinstall the operating system. But he also said that he built in the recovery partition, so therefore, I have to make a recovery cd or not?

    (2) will be the recovery CD is exactly the same as the recovery on the system partition?

    (3) is the partion of CD or recovery includes all the integrated software pre-installed with the laptop?

    (4) also in the device manage management it shows watch partion recovery but it is empty, is it true?

    (5) in the second partition (drive D) system, he has a record with what looks like the recovery of files and folders. Is it safe to move/remove it?

    Hello

    I'll try to provide answers:
1 - to ensure that everything works perfectly you don t need these discs, but if something goes wrong with the HARD drive you will not be able to do anything. When you have the recovery DVDs, you will still be able to install the recovery image and once again the factory settings. So my advice to you is: create these discs as soon as possible. Use only on DVD-R media and buy products of high quality (TDK or Verbatim).
    2 - Yes.
    3 - Yes.
4 - No. Don t be confused with this.
    5. in a first time create restore DVD, and later you can do what you want. I put t know which files mean you but don t touch anything before that of the recovery disks to be created.

In the past, many people have been experimenting with the structure of HARD drive and partitions and later was surprised when installing disk recovery HARD has been damaged. Don t make the same mistake.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Protection and recovery Site ESX versions

    All,

Not sure if this has been asked before, but is there a compatibility issue if my protected site is running vCenter 4.1, ESXi 4.1, 4.1.1 SRM and my recovery site is running vCenter 4.1, ESX 4.0 Update1 and SRM 4.1.1? Basically it is based, and I will have issues if my ESX version is higher on the protected site.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Although it is important to keep all versions ESX and vCenter the same, the difference in ESX versions directly will not affect SRM or the recovering site as long as controllers (vCenter) are the same at all levels. Most of that depends on SRM is databases.

  • Questions about Acer Recovery (long story, simple question)

    Hey there,

I recently came across a pretty annoying problem with my Acer Aspire 7560 notebook computer G. First of all, I hope this is the right section to ask the question on this model in particular, if this not is not please forgive me. In addition, for TL; DR scroll all the way down.

The issue I had was that programs would fail / refuse to start. Zune opening, steam or even just try to open a picture in Windows Photo Viewer either did nothing at all, or the program would look like it began only to then disappear completely (sometimes, but not often, accompanied by an error message saying that the program has stopped working). The laptop still start well, I can browse my directories, internet access, run certain programs, but not others (kkkkk emulator Android works very well, for example). I decided that the best thing for me to do was reset to the factory. Boy I was wrong.

I backed up all my personal files on an external hard drive, so the laptop is ready to be reset. First problem I encountered was that do anything during startup caused me a BIOS password. I did not create one, so it must be the default, and it wasn't really all that difficult to get rid (I used a bootable USB key with clnpwd, just follow the instructions). Then I entered the BIOS, but whenever I get alt + f10 to work and load the Recovery Manager, invites a message indicating that I have to wait for the operating system to load. After that start the laptop, and nothing changes.

I discovered that I probably haven't installed Acer eRecovery utility, because I had to replace a HARD drive defective just now. If at this point, I tried to not get these files to http://us-store.acer.com/erecovery/rcd/ no chance. When you enter SNID or show, it always returns "we have found the serial number entered. Uppercase or lowercase do not make a difference. I'm sure that number I entered is correct, however, because when I use it to search in http://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/drivers it is my laptop model immediately. So, what gives? I'm not sure.

If I can't get the support of Acer recovery soon, I might have to resort to completely reinstall my OS (Windows 7 Home Premium) for the device. Problem is that I don't have a disk for it. I thought to download an ISO and that copy on a bootable USB key, so I went Microsoft Web https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 site I found the product key with a simple .vbs file, but alas, because the OS came preinstalled, which won't help me. At this point, I'm getting impossible to reacquire the Acer recovery as well as Microsoft methods. If this doesn't help, I might have to resort to some Windows 7 disc torrent download, but I'm not too happy with this prospect for obvious reasons. I don't even know if I could activate my product code, and I don't trust those "cracks".

    THUS,.

My question is: how to acquire Acer eRecovery media when they tell me "we have found the serial number entered. If that proved impossible, you know safely to reinstall my OS using my product key?

Thanks in advance, I hope I can get this mess sorted out.

Customer support was no help, in the end, they just referred me to a local retailer and gave me an estimate on the time and money it would take to get things resolved. Too long and too expensive, but that's just my opinion. I'll just go come and clean install my OS.

Found this mirror which has the ISO files archived: http://mirror.corenoc.de/digitalrivercontent.net/ I'll check the SHA-1 checksum, just to be sure, but they must be perfectly clean. With Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool?wa=wsignin1.0), I can create a bootable USB key, and after that, it's going to be all simply a matter of following the instructions.

A little muffed that I couldn't have this problem solved, but hey, I was counting on the factory reset anyway. I will get rid of all the bloatware and possible malware in a single shot in this way, then everything that works, right?

I downloaded everything from http://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/drivers to my device (because, my SNID worked) for additional safety. ISO file is almost finished downloading, I'll probably do a last post here when all is set and done. That way, if anyone ever find this thread, they know that what might work.

Thanks for your efforts, but alas, they were of no use.
