R710 2nd CPU Install - E1410

Before configuration: 1 x Xeon 5540 CPU with 24 GB RAM

Configuration: 2 x Xeon 5540 CPU with 48GB of RAM

-After installing a CPU Socket #2 and RAM to match 1 CPU and RAM at the start, I get the error on the LCD E1410 fatal system error.

-J' have moved the new CPU2 in CPU1 socket then removed the CPU 2 RAM and it starts without any problem.

-J' I then took RAM banks on CPU1 and left with only 2 sticks in slots 1 and 2, it starts without any problem.

-J' then took and put the old CPU in Socket #2 and put 8 GB of RAM in an identical configuration CPU 2 banks and get the same error.

After that this diagnosis, it shows that this is NOT the CPU, which raises the question and it doesn't seem to be the RAM either. There is not bent or missing pins on the socket. I tried to reset the NVRAM, but it doesn't seem like it fixed. Is there some BIOS update that I need to be able to use both CPU? I've never seen something like this before... I really hope this isn't taking itself somehow.

Everyone! Great news. I'll declare this post as solved! :) After all, troubleshooting and testing. I want to say... Check your PIN under processor 1 if your getting this error. You may see 1 or 2... or in my case 8 bent pins... I can only say that came from Dell as well as the only time 1 processor has been removed was in troubleshooting put the 2nd. It seems that I never checked to see if there was something wrong because the processor worked was no problem to slot 1... However, after checking he had 8 pins bent. I used the cutting edge flat tweezers to pry their place and reposition in place... put two processors in and BAM! It starts without error.

Question... How the [ADMIN NOTE: profanity deleted] it not work with 8 pins touch or crossed. How have I not the kernel vm crashes. Laughing out loud

Thank you all for your help. I'll tell you its solved because I am the OP, however please continue troubleshooting your problems.

Thanks again

It came with (1) CPU and 2 GB of Ram and it runs well. The BIOS reported this CPU as an AMD Opteron 2212. I wanted to add a 2nd CPU and found some refurbished. They have been described as 2nd generation of Opteron 2212 OSP2214GAA6CQ.

When I have one installed and rebooted the system, I get the message "this system supports only the Opteron F3 or later processors. Is there a setting in BIOS that I need to change.

    Hello

Processor you listed isn't an update F2 and F3, this is why it does not work. You need part number OSA2212GAA6CX or OSA2212CXWOF.

    CPU replacement

Hello!  I replace the CPU in my HP P6310F.  According to this literature, http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01949155 , I have an AMD Phenom II X 4 Quad-Core 9xx/9xxe/8xx (Deneb).  My understanding has always been that "9xx" means any phenom II in the class of the 900 series.

I bought a retail Phenom II X 4 965 Black Edition, part HDZ965FBGMBOX number, installed and get the error message: CPU support is not installed message.  After searching and reading about the error message and other messages, it seems it might be due to the 'black edition' and/or because it is 125 watts.  It was the answer to a few others in the same situation as me.

Can you please tell me why this CPU is not compatible and please help me with a list of compatible CPU?

This is also in the 9xx series, but is it at 125W

    HDZ955FBK4DGM AMD Phenom II X processor 4 955 - Quad Core, 6 MB of Cache L3, 2 MB L2 Cache, 3.20 GHz, Socket AM3, 125W, fanless, OEM

This lies in the 9xx series and is 95W

AMD HDX945WFGIBOX Phenom II X 4 945 Quad Core Processor - 3.00 GHz, 6 MB of Cache, bus front to 2000 MHz (4000 MT/s), retail, Socket AM3, processor with fan

The stock processor is an AMD Athlon II X 4 630, 95W

I can provide any other information you may need, thank you very much!

There is no AMD Black Edition CPU that are compatible with any PC HP desktop.

That's what the problem is related to. Black Edition CPU are special processors who have discovered the multipliers for amateur quality motherboards. You could not access the multipliers to overclock the CPU with the motherboard you have installed it anyway.

Even if you choose, buy and install one of the microprocessors in maintenance & service Guide there is no guarantee HP which will be exploited.

You should also be aware that installing a different CPU than your office has been delivered with the warranty.

    Sorry to bear bad news.

The good news is that the processors listed in the maintenance department & guide reputable reports of upgrade in discussions in the forum, to run.

  • Unsupported CPU installed

    Hello

I bought a new processor for my PC. I checked beforehand that the cpu would be compatible with my motherboard. But once I installed it I get the message "unsupported CPU" installed I did a search and read that I have maybe update my bios but in the downloads section, there is no download for my bios.

    My PC: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02610652

My new CPU: AMD Phenom II X 4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (core Deneb)

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

    Thanks for your time.

No, a more powerful power supply will not solve this. Probably the card mother Aria-GL8 only supports CPU with a 95 watt TDP. It is also possible that the "Black Edition" CPUs are not supported as well. Please stay with the AMD Phenom II X 4 processor for best results.

  • advice needed on 2nd computer install

Hello. I will participate in a photography workshop next week and they just asked everyone to bring laptops and use the afternoon as working time of Photoshop and Lightroom. I have an iMac and I have to borrow a PC or try to find a Mac for rent.

My question is that I think I have a 2nd sign-in available for my licensing Lightroom and Photoshop, right? Do I have to use the same OS if I rent a Mac? What happens if I have an available PC?

I don't want to do a task force and then not having my files smoothly transition in my Lightroom at home.

Also, I have to take an external drive to save all on or creative cloud - what does mean?

    Thank you!

If you use a PC vs Mac depends on what version you have.  If you have a cloud subscription, then you can use the versions of the software for platforms or both.  If you do not have a subscription Cloud Lightroom is the only one of the two that you could use the same license on two systems while Photoshop is allowed only for one or the other, but not both.

Programs installed on the computer, and files that you create with the program can be registered there as well.

  • Computer will work no more than 3-4 seconds after start-up, then stops. New CPU installed

I replaced a damaged AMD Phenom II quad CPU 820 HP said was a compatible AMD Phenom II 965 Black edition on my HP Pavilion p6320y quad. AMD has recommended I also replace the PSU with a 500w power supply 300w. This has been done with success as well. When I turn on the machine, the cooling fans turn on, but run for not more than 3-4 seconds and the machine turns off. The CPU is brand new and it has been determined to be good, not to have been a DOA. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion p6320y and its card mother M2N78-(Violet6). Previously, these support pages stated that the motherboard has a maximum TDP of 95 watts. According to the specs, it supports the following processors;

    AMD Phenom II X 4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb)

    AMD Phenom II X 3 Triple-Core (Heka) 7xx/7xxe

    AMD Phenom II X 2 5xx (Callisto)

    AMD Athlon II X 4 6xx/6xxe (undactylopodite)

    AMD Athlon II X 3 4xx/4xxe (Rana)

    AMD Athlon II X 2 2xx/2xxe (Regor)

The AMD Phenom II X 4 965 processors are valued at 125 watts and 140 watts and the motherboard exceeds 95 watts maximum. In addition, BE or "Black Edition" processors are not listed as supported based on specifications.

  • Reference Dell R710 single CPU

Hello team, we have R710 with single processor with populated 9 dims with 8 GB of memory.

We have now 6 x 16 GB memory to improve memory, what is the best procedure to mix memory to fill the 3 slots with 8 GB of memory?

    Is it still feasible?

    StorageJohn,

To maximize the amount of memory used, I would put the 6 16 GB DIMMS in slots A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 and A6. After that, then place a module dimm 8 GB in the location of the A7, A8 and A9. This is to maintain the requirements of the memory channels. See below.

Let me know if it helps.

Or is there another method as a custom installation on the file original win DVD Win7 for a new C drive?  If yes how to designate the active drive (empty) F as the new "C drive"?  The Win7 will reinstall cause the original C to redefine a different drive letter?  If so, other existing drive letters can be locked (i.e., remain the same)?

The reader is equal to or greater than the current C:\ drive, you may reimage C:\ now and restore on drive F:\. You will need an external drive and you need connect the F:\ drive as boot drive.

My new HPE-180 t arrived a few hours ago just in time for my birthday.  I upgraded the standard configuration at Q = 2, 1 TB 7200 RPM hard drives.  I am able to find the two hard drives in the BIOS and Device Manager.  However, I can't see them in Windows Explorer.

One thing I noticed was there seemed to be a BIOS definition related to RAID that has been activated.  The Matrix Raid BIOS showed the two dirves configured as no RAID.

Any thoughts?  I really don't want to call HP support on the first day that I have my first HP computer.  The reason for getting a HP, that I was tired of dealing with Dell technical support.

Go to administrative tools---> computer management and then disk management.  Fully extend the screen.  You now see the new hard drive?  You may need to initialize it by right mouse clicking on the new drive hard and then initialize.

Also, go to--> Folder Options panel--> display tab and select disks and view hidden files.

  • PEGATRON (Asus) M2N68 - THE narrated 6.01 CPU Upgrade - error: CPU support is not installed

I have an AMD Phenom II X 4 965, I want to put in a Compaq Presario CQ5308UK.

    The motherboard is a v6.01 PEGATRON (ASUS) CORP. M2N68 - THE Narra6

that my motherboard supports the AMD Phenom II X 4 965. So I ordered a.

My BIOS version is 5.20, I can't find any update for this, but when I got him and turn on there is a black screen and then it says:

    ERROR: Unsupported CPU installed.

PC will turn off automatically in a few seconds.

    Then it turns off.

Support have been absolutely useless. I can't believe that this is said, sustained and so no one wants if handle does not. WTF is HP playing at?

Anyone got any ideas on this, or is it a loss of 150 quid and a new rule to never buy HP, once again, never?

Help would be greatly appreciated to get this working processor is supposed to be supported.

    PresarioOwner,

I replied to your MP, but for the sake of those that the thread of analysis, I'll reiterate it here.

I had studied this for Fattysgonewild the other day (didn't know it was the same MB ask everything).   The list of processors it displayed was me - and all those who have shipped us or could ship with the motherboard, it asked of (dependent on power supply installed, etc.).

The problem here is that all of the processors, this motherboard can support are all Socket AM3 with maximum TDP 95W.   The CPU you are trying to use is a 125W CPU - and the BIOS knows the jury cannot provide much more current and tell.  I confirmed this with the R & D at HP engineer responsible for this motherboard.

An update of the BIOS can not change that.  Even if we could be hacked, the jury would probably overheat and fail shortly after.

I found the following on Wikipedia that did a good job to summarize the features different Phenom processors that are available:

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Phenom_microprocessors

As for the motherboard plug - I see not Cree 9XX - 965 more precisely.  My guess is that the motherboard plug were posted at the time of the introduction of Narra6.   Usually, when they offer a 'special edition' or 'black label' CPU - it's a fine edition/upgrade in the product range.   I will send a request to the documentation team with a recommendation to update the document to specify maximum TDP 95W.

They would not allow you to return the CPU, but maybe they can let you swap the CPU for one that will work...

    Good luck...

  • Virtual CPU question

Hi, I'm relatively new on VMs, but have been playing with them for about the last 6 months. I have an ESXi host that is running 4 comments VM, and I can't understand how the host allocates CPU on the host servers.

One of the guests is a newly installed Exchange 2010 Server 2008 R2. In this guest operating system, the windows Task Manager showed that the CPU was at least a little. However, when I look at the contents of the host tab, it shows the use of the processor as the half. I thought that the host was supposed to allocate as much as necessary, but it seems to me that the host has more that's not give at the prompt. So after I saw that I configured the client to have a 2nd virtual processor, but then I read that this is not recommended. I put also the actions of CPU high for this customer. I did not have a reservation, but I was wondering if I should? I booked it 8 GB of memory, which doesn't seem to be a problem. Even with the 2nd CPU virtual, always double virtual processors poster Task Manager get maxed out sometimes, and the server can act quite slow when I'm trying to set it up, but the usuage on the host still seems low.

I guess I'm confused, I thought the host was supposed to automatically extend the amount of resources needed a guest so that you shouldn't ever Miss unless the host itself is maxed out. Can someone explain to me the best way to set this up so this exchange area gets all CPUS, that he needs?

    Thank you!

    Hello

The way it works is that you have a server with 1 quad not core cpu no hyper threading. This would have 4 cores to vmware to use. 4 cores is 4 virtual cpu to use at a relaxed pace. If you were to add it is 4 virtual cpu for all your virtual machines, you should be oversubscription and basically your VMs will begin waiting for the long time available CPU. You can measure with the KPI of time CPU waiting.

When you set a reserve, say 1000 Mhz to a virtual machine, which means that there is always 1000 Mhz available on this computer from the total pool of available CPU MHz.

1 virtual processor for a machine of Exchange 2010 is by far not enough cpu power. You do not want to give a little.

But why you are seeing in the guest computer use at 100% is because you have allocated only 1 vcpu virtual machine, so it is only using 1 core of the CPU. If you have a quad core cpu you would probably see the ESXi host around 25% usage

    Hope this clears for you

  • Low CPU with high RAM compromise?

I was searching online for a confirmation, but have not yet find something, so I wanted to post on these cards. On a large cluster of machines (a few hundred), the load on our resource monitor said that we push % on CPU and RAM 70 %5. We are setting up a new environment and thought about order of servers with a single socket processor and much more RAM.

Did anyone see issue by doing this? If this is not the case, how is it many people buy machines to dual-core instead of a nucleus?

You set yourself for a lot of problems goes in this direction. As others have also posted it, you are much, much, much better off getting servers with double plug, multi-core (at least Quad-cores) that reduces to one taken. According to the processor that you look at, it is possible to go to a GHz slightly more low discretion model, depending on what happens to be operational there.

Personally, for a production environment design, I will not under a pair of Xeon E5520 to each host server.

With the double Sockets, you will have the best memory options available to you as well. In fact, you are ready to a lower limit on the amount of RAM you can install when you use a single socket these days. Basically you're max is going to be 1/2 of what it would be with two CPU installed. Because the memory is one of your main concerns, you'll be streaked yourself by reducing the CPU when it's your limit of memory.

I confirmed it (quickly) with a Dell R710 build... With two processors E5520, the limit is 192GO (12 sticks) of RAM... With one, she is reduced to 96GB (6 sticks)...

  • Add 2 CPU

I add a 2nd CPU in a ProLiant DL380 G5 (there a Xeon Quad Core CPU installed) and take the memory from 16 GB to 32 GB of RAM.

Is there something I need to do it before or after I do the upgrade of equipment (other than to close all Vm down and the host operating system), in order to get Vmware to recognize the new CPU and memory?

Also I would like to install the upgrade patch 1 after and also I was wondering if there is anything I should do before or after the upgrade.

I watched the news of upgrade and I have seen no specific recommendations.

If the server's bios recognizes the new hardware, then ESX/ESXi should should not have any difficulty to see and to be able to use it.

I think you're talking about going to ESX/ESXi 4 u1, Yes? It depends really on what method allows you to perform the update on the host. You can try using the Update Manager or the Host Update Utility (if you have already installed or install and then use)...
