raid LSI 2308 controller question

Hi experts

Someone with experience with the raid LSI 2308 controller? When I look at my card storage in ESX5.5.2 I see. But when I look through cli it says no map found:

/ opt/lsi/bin/sas2flash # / dev-list

/ dev #.

I need to load the firmware first to make it work? Like this guy mentioned here? http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2014/04/08/updating-LSI-firmware-ESXi-commandline/

I had three SSD that is not at all recognized by ESX and I'm trying to see if the LSI is perhaps what is needed to make it work.

Thank you

update the necessary lsi driver. esx5.5.2 removed some less common drivers.

    Hello

The controller is SAS RAID LSI 2308 integrated in the T7610 of precision allows to attach SATA hard drives in a non-raid configuration?  I just realized this system has only TWO internal SATA connectors, but I need THREE internal SATA drives.

What I was asking is if the SAS ports will allow the connection of SATA drives that are not used in RAID mode?  This way I can add my 3rd SATA HDD to a SAS ports.

    Thank you

We are experiencing the same problem/issue with the T7610 of accuracy by using the controller LSI-2308.  The end result that we would like is to have 2 drives separated - do not use the raid controller.  However, the CD Rom takes up one of the sata drive connections.

Anyone been able to disable the raid and then controller, seeing the disks during the installation of windows needs to see?

Currently, I have 2 blank drives (3 TB (ea.) and windows setup does not see the discs - but the raid controller load very well through the configuration.

What should I do to get readers in windows?  There the meta that needs to be removed?

  • Model of card mother T7500 and configuration of the controller RAID LSI 1068e

Hi, I just bought a T7500 workstation I would get around mid-December. Because of current prices for HARD drive storage, I decided to go with the 500 GB basic disk up to HEALING of Thailand. Thus, I am limited to basic integrated RAID controller. Because I am not familiar with the RAID configuration, etc. I wanted to read more before I dive in. The starting point would definitely find what was right for the Precision T7500 motherboard. Surprise! I can't find information anywhere. Even Dell people (3 different sales and support representatives) have not managed to tell me it's the Intel 5520 chipset (it looks that they believe that it is the motherboard model...). Well, I'm stuck. I would appreciate if someone could provide me with the model of motherboard and Special Edition, all information on the capabilities of the controller integrated RAID (LSI 1068e) would help me determine what drives should I plan to buy. In addition, one thing that is not clear to me what I inferred from the configuration on the website Wizard is the issue around disks > 2 TB. Of after I read it, I was not able to determine whether the problem was related to the simple readers > 2 TB or if it was related to the management of a storage space > 2 TB (which could be composed of several readers less than 2 TB). What I have in mind (remember that I do not have the machine right now) is to 4 X 1 TB drives in a RAID 0 + 1 (which I'm not sure that the integrated controller supports) configuration that will result in the storage of 2 GB mirrored. The operating system is Win 7 64 bit. Thanks in advance for any info that will help me to prepare my setup (buy hard drives, if I can find cheap ones) and find information on the configuration of the RAID. MrBricole

I'm sure the T7500 uses an Intel Server Board (since this chipset is located on the Intel site under its motherboards, Dell is essentially correct, even if they didn't know why), but it doesn't matter in the context of your question, because the '' integrated '' RAID controller is not actually on the Board.  It's a card (called "integrated" only because it has a slot on this machine).  Because the functionality of the RAID controller is not on the Board of Directors, Board info will not help you.  Everything you need to know about your Council and the entire system, you can get the T7500 manual.  SAS 6/iR (LSI 1068e) RAID controller information can be found here:

NOTE from the ADMIN: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell >

The SAS 6/iR will not support more than 2 TB of drives, or it will support more than 2 TB of virtual disks.

It will also only supports RAID 0 OR RAID 1 OR both, but not together (not levels no RAID nested as RAID 10 or 0 + 1).

So with four 1 TB drives, you can easily do two RAID 1 (called integrated mirror in the controller BIOS CTRL-C)... or you can do two 2-drive RAID 0 (Stripe called integrated in the controller BIOS CTRL-C)... or you can run mode non-RAID, with four individual discs in the operating system.  With this controller, those are your only options with four 1 TB drives.

If you want / need more features RAID (nested RAID, 2 TB of the VFD above, on board levels, cache, etc.), you must upgrade to the PERC 6 / i.

Do not buy office records class... Make sure you get enterprise-class drives.  If you decide at some point to go with PERC, not only enterprise class disks will be fundamentally necessary, but certified records would be strongly recommended for stability and performance.

  • UCS C22 M3 software RAID LSI problem with hard drive

    Hello

I post here because I searched many hours for a stupid problem.

I have a Cisco UCS C22 M3 with soft RAID LSI MagicRAID.
I have two hard disk of 1 TB.
I create a RAID array with the type 1 (mirror).

When I run the installation of VMware ESXi 5.1 U1 I see the RAID array, but the two discs.
I think that it is a driver problem.
So, I install special with an iso VMware in the VMware Web site for Cisco server.
I have test with ESXi 5.0 and 5.1, and 5.1 U1 but it's the same problem.

I try to remove the RAID array and to install esx on disc one monkey. Installation works well, but in the boot menu, I can't boot from a hard disk. I don't know why I search with UEFI and she is disabled.

I test with windows 2012, and 2008R2 to check if its working but in install I don't see also hard drive or the RAID array.
I go to Cisco and download the driver of the 2G for VMware Linux and Windows.
I try inserting the driver in windows install, but does not.
I think that the driver for a hardware RAID card and software.

I have try to disable the LSI RAID in the advanced bios "SouthBridge". After I disabled I don't know how I can do to start on the hard drive.
When I go to the start menu (F6) I see absolutely nothing in drive.

I test this on two Cisco server.

I can't know what I can do now. I take a working installation tomorrow and nothing.

I join you a photo of the boot sequence LSI.

    Thank you very much.

    Stephane,

For what I understand, you use the RAID controller integrated, therefore, these drivers will not work you:

    -LSI 92xx

    -LSI 106xE

    -LSI 2008 M

    -INS 3081E-R

    -LSI8708EM2

    -LSI 9201< all="" of="" the="" above="" are="" not="" the="" controller="" you="">

    -CISO 1225 x< this="" is="" for="" the="" vic="">

    -CISCO P81E< this="" is="" for="" the="" 1st="" generation="" of="" vic="" cards,="" so="" definitely="" not="" a="" raid="">

Pilots are organized into top level by operating system folders, and each folder of OS has a structured series hierarchically who become more specific subfolders so that you can find the exact drivers you need. When you navigate to a folder containing the drivers, it will contain also one or several README files that explains what are these drivers in particular.

Here is an example of the structure of folder for Windows:

Windows    ChipSet       vendor          blade-model-number             OS-version-number                All                ia64                Lang (contains language subfolders)                Vista                x64

    You need to look for: /< OS > / storage/Intel/C600 /.< if="" you="" are ="" doing="" the="" installation="" of="" the="" os="" through="" the="" kvm,="" you="" first="" need="" to="" un-mount="" the="" os="" .iso="" image="" to="" mount="" the="" drivers,="" once="" the="" drivers="" are="" done,="" un-mount="" the="" drivers="" and="" mount="" again="" the="" os="" .iso="">

If it does not, you better open a TAC case that will allow us to put in place an additional troubleshooting Webex meeting.

  • Turn down HDs in Raid LSI PowerEdge

As a server, I got a Power Edge 840 with a Raid at LSI SAS controller on a SAS backplane with 3 Seagate Cheetah 15K.5. There are debian running on a Raid 5.  The HDs spin down and even with megacli, I could not convince them to do so. The server of the idling consumes 110W@1,6ghz, which is high. Any ideas?

    Hello Stefan,

The controllers LSI with the PE840-supported were the SAS 5iR and PERC 5 / i. None of these spin down supported, which was not available until the H700/H800 in 2009. If you have a different controller LSI (not necessarily one a Dell brand) let me know what model and I might be able to help the conclusion of the procedure documentation to set up a physical drive individual spin-down.

  • Question about the card RAID LSI/3Ware 9570 - 4i

I just bought the 9570-4i to run a couple of WD RE3 in RAID0, with the intention of going RAID5 later when I have the bucks, perhaps even with different readers. In any CASE, I have an EVGA X 58 mobo, and I only use the first of the three PCIe (16 x) slots for my GTX470. So I guess third place (i.e. 8 x) would be the slot in which the 9570 is going, but I continued to wonder, since these PCIe slots are designed with SLI/Crossfire in mind, is it kosher to pop in my RAID card in 3 housing? It would operate or impair the values with the graphics card?

So I wrote LSI Tech Support and they responded right with an answer informative but sure some SLI X 58 boards can be embarrassing, that I should get a class Server/Business Council. Purchase and Exchange on another mobo are the last thing that my time and money to do. that it is used successfully one Board as mine with a similar RAID card into the PCIe slot successfully?

Just for reference, my Board is here: http://www.evga.com/products/moreinfo.asp?pn=132-bl-e758-a1

And the LSI Tech answer is this:

What I can tell you especially on your motherboard type: some customers have had problems using our maps with panels marketed for the ability 'SLI' or 'Crossfire', because usually these PCIe slots are designed specifically for video performance and do not always follow the PCIe specification. In short, your 9750 may not work as expected with this motherboard. We recommend looking at a class Server/Business Council.
    Thank you!

Good to hear of your success. You can now understand why I am a fan of raids.

  • Dell power edge T620 configuration RAID and OS install Question

    Hi all

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. My company recently bought a new server Dell T620 and I'm the one assigned to operate. Unfortunately, I do not have to configure a server with a RAID5 configuration.

My question is, I'm following the directions to Dell that says opening the lifecycle controller, select deploy the operating system. Where I'm stuck is to put the virtual disk. It's my first RAID configuration, and I think that the VD is what windows uses to read total disk space? We run 3 - 1 TB NLS 6.0gbps 7.2 k RPM.

I know 1 TB HARD drive to shows only 930 GB in windows. But for some reason any it offers me a virtual disk up to 1800 GB? I think I need to settle this at least can Go 930?

I can give more details if necessary. But currently, I am stuck on this part and will not go forward unless some.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello acslacker

All you need to do is choose RAID 5, select the 3 disks and accept. It will automatically use all available space.

With discs hard 3x1TB the maximum available space will be approximately 2 TB. Some will disappear in the conversion to binary. It is announced that 930 GB instead of 1 TB. RAID 5 1 HARD drive is used for parity, then you will immediately lose 1 TB. This space will not appear in the usable space. The 1.8 to which it is automatically the list looks correct.

    Thank you

  • Problems with the raid PERC S100 controller

    Hi all

Recently, I bought a Dell R410 server with a raid PERC S100 without search controller before that. Problem is that I need to install a Linux OS and as it seems, this controller does not support linux.

Because I was in a hurry, but they can also help in my situation, I bought the following cables:

Apparently, I don't have a slot for connecting the cables... :)

So my question is. Is there a solution to this problem? I tried to disable/remove the S100, but the MB does not detect hard drives. The server is with a bottom of basket.

I actually found this thread in the forums-> http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/906/t/19472600.aspx, but unfortunately, I couldn't find the cables posted in the thread.

Here is an actual photo of the machine:

This server will support the SAS 6/ir, Perc 6 / i and controllers Perc H700. you will need to run linux on this server. The SAS 6/ir is limited to RAID 0 and 1; Perc run several RAID levels.

If you get the SAS 6/ir or Perc 6 / i, you will need this cable:

69V70 cable, 6i/SAS PERC 6i/5 at the bottom of basket of 6G

For the H700, need you also this cable:

N262J cable HARD drive; Map PERC H200/H700 b/p (Mini SAS to Mini SAS

  • SuperMicro RAID Intel C612 controller

I am looking at a SuperMicro server and I want to say until I talk to my dealer again. I'm not finding the controller Intel C612 RAID on the VMware HCL. I see that SuperMicro says "it is supported", but I think that it is only supported as a disk controller and not a RAID controller. Can someone check?

C612 is Intel-chipset containing rest (rapid storage technology). Support is the card mother and chipset, same-sata ports, but not this "raid controller". Basically, it's a fake (aka the bios software-, pseudo-) raid, and these are usually not supported with ESXi. Even if you create the table, ESXi will see individual disks. Forget this shit and me raid controller hardware true good for ESXi, with built-in cache and power loss protection.

  • creating a virtual xp which uses a scsi lsi logic controller machine

Can someone tell me where I can get the drivers needed to allow a xp operating system to see the logic lsi controller during startup?

I need to create a computer virtual xp which uses a scsi controller.  I was hoping to add drivers during the generation of the process but don't know where I can get them.

Here is the LSI driver we use for XP.  Just make sure that you create a VM "customized" and press F6 during your build, and then mount the image.

  • ThinkStation P310 tour Universal Serial Bus Controller question

I loaded Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32 bit on a new ThinkStation P310. The 1 thing that I can't seem to load is the driver for it. Stand with a yellow exclamation point in Device Manager. This is one from scratch OS load using Windows 7 Professional 32 bit Microsoft Volume Licensing Center .iso. Looking at the properties is said the following:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the item or a set of device information.

To find a driver for this device, click Update driver.

I automatic search and there is no driver for the device. The hardware ID are:
