I have an old computer with installed Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and 3. I bought a new hard drive and also a new external hard drive for her case. I have correctly installed the hard drive inside the enclosure, and I think that I have installed correctly (in the motherboard SATA port) eSATA port, according to the manufacturer's instructions. I plugged everything... first eSATA, then power and power switch. I restarted the computer, and I chose to analyze disks in disk management. However, the new drive is not recognized. The SATA port on the motherboard could not work or did I buy the bad, perhaps, hard drive enclosure for my system? Or something related to the software? Thank you.
Hi Donnadream,
Connect the hard drive to another port and check if that makes a difference
Step 1: You can follow the steps mentioned in the article below, which deals with a similar question

Step 3: Hard disk can be turned off in the BIOS; You may want to enable
Important: Change BIOS (Basic input output system) /semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
If the problem persists, it is a hardware problem, contact the manufacturer of the hard drive for a more specialized help

Computer does not recognize the CD/DVD drive
For these last days, my computer does not recognize the CD/DVD drive. I have tried everything - publishers of registry, check the physical connections inside the computer, the system restore and install Fix - It programs. However, the computer does not recognize this drive. I also wonder if it is a hardware problem. The light on the drive is a constant in green, and does not have the Open button. And when I use the bent-paper-clip-in-the-little-hole and can open the drive, it will not read the disc. Please advise...
I fixed my problem with the BIOS operating system & not recognizing not not my DVD player to reinvest the solder on the motherboard. You can find instructions on how to do it here: http://www.computerrepairtips.net/how-to-reflow-a-laptop-motherboard/
There was a little crazy with my video drivers when I started first, but everything works after resetting the BIOS by default.

Computer does not recognize Toshiba external 500G HDD - HARD drive
Sorry, I use a translator, because all the illiterate
A year and a half used the hard drive, and now the computer does not recognize it, the TV too.
In Device Manager, it is there, but says "initialization error".What should do?
Thanks for the repliesYou have partitions software installed on the laptop you?
I guess that the HARD disk does not appear in windows Explorer, but common partition as the partition Wizard tool might be able to recognize the HARD drive.
You can try to format the HARD disk and to create the new NTFS partition.Another solution:
Usually, you can initialize the disk by DiskManagement. In disk management, right-click the disk you want to initialize and then click on initialize disk.
In the dialog box initialize the disk, select the disk to initialize.
You can choose to use the master boot record (MBR) or the style of partition GUID partition table (GPT).Once a disk is initialized, you can create partitions on it.
After you create a partition, you can format the partition to create a filesystem (NTFS). -

Computer does not recognize LaCie external hard drive when it is connected.
Should I just a 'driver' of the manufacturer so that windows recognize? Help, please.
The device is a hard drive (250 gb) bought in 2006. LaCie support has provided relevant solutions.
I disconnected the USB line, reconnected with the power of the unit it turned on and off while only plugged, unplugged, and made all possible combinations of many times. My computer does not recognize anything.
I can't find it in my computer, and also, the computer does not list the device in the Device Manager utility.
I have disabled the Windows Firewall.
The computer with which the external drive worked and one that currently does not recognize are model computers windows XP (2008).
Thank you very much for your help.
Thanks for the reply.
In the meantime and after reviewing all similar positions, it turns out that find the 'live' usb device does the trick.
So, other people with similar problems, try the usb cables at the back of the computer (all), then by restarting the connection there.
It worked for me.
Thanks again for the reply!

My computer does not recognize my flash drive at all
In the past I was able to plug my USB key and use it (make changes, and save the information), now when I insert it, nothing happens. The screen displays just the desktop. The computer does not recognize it. I tried another drive flash with information on this subject, once again, nothing happened. I need help how to fix this problem. Thank you.
Sounds like your AutoPlay settings need to be adjusted.
Something to try...
Insert the flash drive into a USB port and go... Start / my computer...
The flash player should be recognized by a drive letter...
Right-click on the drive letter and go... Properties / AutoPlay tab...
Left click on the button "Restore default settings" / apply / OK.Now... Remove and re - insert the flash drive and see if there is an improvement.
And... the following Wizard may be worth a try:
Microsoft AutoPlay Repair Wizard
