Re: Satellite A200 1 M 5 blue screen & gel

I have an older A200 10 months under Vista Home Premium that came preinstalled on purchase.
Since the beginning, but more regularly now, it freezes in any program several times a day and is now crashing with the blue screen to come before the dumping and restarting itself.

It seems to be a major problem, according to the number of people making similar comments on the net and offering all kinds of weird answers and solutions.

I use this computer every day for business and cannot afford this ridiculous downtime nor I believe that should I have to do anything... it's a new computer!

What's his problem?
What is the cause?
Can it be fixed?

I can't afford to be without it, or I can afford a the size of the time in the repair shops, until the answer?

Thanking you in advance for any possible solution/s

Hi Andrew

AGENTS can result from severe software or a hardware problem.
But the fact is that the BSOD is a deviation and so it is not easy to say what causes this problem.

First of all, it is necessary to know if its software or hardware related problem.
You can find it using the Toshiba Recovery CD. After the new installation of operating system the laptop should run stable and should not occurs the BSOD.

But if the BSOD will persist, then the problem could be caused by faulty hardware.
The BSOD appeared on my laptop Toshiba-not too much, and it was related to the temperature inside the laptop.
The high temperature was a bad influence on the memory modules.

I cleaned then cooling of modules using a jet of compressed air and the BSOD appeared not.
But look, man. This does not mean that this could be the reason even to find you BSOD errors.
So as you can see, it's really not easy to say what could be wrong.

If the BSOD will persist even after recovery again then I recommend to contact technical service for a detailed notebook check.

    It makes me crazy.
I have two laptop A200 which were granted to the staff. They left and laptops have been completely OK.

Before I have the laptops to new staff I format and reinstall the operating system and software. Simple I thought, I've got the recovery DVDs. I rebooted with the DVD into a party to the process, everything seems to be fine. It restarts in windows enter the first screen of XP of windows with green dots below. I have a very quick flash of a blue screen and restarting the laptop, then continues with the quick blue screen through.
This happens on the two A200 I have.

If I try to load windows XP from our copy of the retail windows, he always says that no records can be detected. Again, it happens on both. I hear say you, it's the hard drive. Well, it's not the hard drive. I removed the disc placed in another laptop and a windows PC and it works as it should, it's two hard drives. With hard drives in laptops original A200 I can install Linux (unbuntu) without any error. I run disk check that everything is OK.
Toshiba says it's a virus! Seems to be the answer to everything, that they can't solve by phone!

I love the laptops of the thesis, they have been very good for us here, would like to get them running again. They have two years out of warranty.

    Any help would be great

    Hello

It's a little difficult to say what happens to your laptop, but if I have problems installing, I erase hard drive with a bootable cd of Acronis support, Acronis drive Cleanser

    http://www.Acronis.com/enterprise/products/DriveCleanser/index.html

    or East-Tec DisposeSecure

    http://www.East-Tec.com/download/index.htm

These programs are shareware and need to be enabled in order to make a bootable media.

I erase a hard drive, then install the original copy of Windows for my clients. If they have problems with ODD, I make a bootable USB key (if the Bios supports) or higher Lan installation. By the way, have you tried to install from a bootable USB key.

Talk about viruses, it can also take place the cloth of hard drive is recommended. In our service, we answer also like this phone as say the guys at Toshiba. Believe me, it's not easy to solve problems over the phone, the problem is that many customers cannot adequately describe the malfunction!

The BSOD appears usually due to software malfunction serious matter or material.
I think it s a software problem (driver).

I presume that the BSOD appears why play games in most of the cases the graphics driver must be updated.
If the XP driver from the Toshiba page will not help, you can try the graphics drivers on the www.omegadrivers.net site. 3rd third party drivers must run on your laptop. But note; 3 third-party drivers can be used only at your own risk!

    > Why standard ati.com display drivers do not work? (While on my laptop of friends with also hd2600 mobility radeon works fine).
Cannot install the original ATI drivers on an easy path because this drivers don t support protection against overheating. Toshiba GPU drivers are slightly modified and support a protection against overheating. This protection is necessary and important as mobile graphics cards do not have large module of cooling as the GPU on to desktop computers.
Temperature increases on the much faster laptops and so the driver graphic control performance of the GPU to reduce the internal temperature.

That's why it of always advised and recommended to use the Toshiba drivers ;)

    Hello, Russell

A few days ago, I have similar problem on my Satellite P200. After you install a third-party application, I got BSOD every time when this application loads. I tried anything possible. To start in safe mode and change the boot options, OS restore to an earlier time using System Restore tool. I also tried to remove application preinstalled in safe mode but nothing has helped.

In the end, I installed OS using recovery DVDs.

So, in my case, I was sure why this happens. What is with you? This happens if you use some applications? What player and antivirus do you use?
The same happens when you try to use Microsoft's Disk Defragmenter?

  • Satellite A500 - crackling sounds and blue screen

    Hey everybody.

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500-19w about 4 days ago (today it is Sunday, March 7, 2010).

I had the sounds of crackling of my speakers which have been mentioned so many times in the forums, no real solution.
I also experienced the crash of the blue screen, that's already happened 7 times while I was not strongly using my newly buy laptop.
I'm not looking for a repair or a replacement, because I find it quite unacceptable to have to think about the errors, faults & fixes as much as the laptop is brand new.

What I want is a refund, but I'm not sure on how to do it.

I know that Toshiba has some sort of refund policy, but if someone can tell me exactly how it works, because I want to get rid of my laptop as soon as possible (I will not buy any more portable Toshiba, especially since I had some similar problems with my Qosmio f30).
If someone can give me some guidance, because I don't want to be mocked or used and cheated out of refund.
I bought my Toshiba in the Middle East (perhaps refund policies are different here).
    Thank you.

    Hi mihran.

If you want to pay off your laptop, you should talk with your computer store where you bought it. Only the can repay your laptop and not Toshiba directly.
Of course it is also depending on the country where you life, but normally you can pay within 14 days I think. So in your case I speak with the seller or give them a call. They explain how to do this.

But let me give you a little advice: regarding your problems with the crackling sound and blue screen I recommend that you contact an authorized service provider or ask a new A500 (this should be possible if you have only 4 days). Generally, I can say that a friend of mine has Satellite A500 and he is quite satisfied with her. This laptop has a great design equipped with new material for a good price. :)

  • Re: Satellite A500-1 - slow after blue screen

    Hi all

I've owned a Satellite A500-1 in a year with no problems at all until a few days ago. When it tuning on it gave me a blue screen of death, and after 10 seconds, it turned blue, so I couldn't read error.

I noticed reduced performance since it happened. Especially when you play games or movies HD, the picture and sound will freeze every few seconds. This happens in Windows 7 and Ubuntu. I did a new install of both, but the problem persists.

I scanned the hard drive and memory errors, but it wasn't everything. Cant someone give me some advice, please?

    Thank you

    Hello

    > This happens in Windows 7 and Ubuntu. I did a new install of both, but the problem persists.
This would mean that the problem is hardware-related and operating system installation seems to be ok, but it could be anything and it s is not easy to say what part is affected.

Some parts, you can check yourself like RAM and HARD drive.

    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test, you can test your HARD drive. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. Then you can test the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

    http://Memtest86.com/
Memtest86 is a diagnostic tool to check the RAM. Here, you can also download a CD image.
It s easy to use. Run the test of 3-4 hours and then you will see if the RAM has some errors.

If both tests cannot find an error, it must be another problem as the motherboard or the CPU. For such a diagnosis, you must contact an authorized service provider. They can help you get rid of this problem. You can find a complete list of the guys here:

  • Satellite Pro L510 - crashes and blue screen

    Hello
I am a new user of the Toshiba Satellite Pro L510, since last September, barely 3 months.
Recently, had met 2 crashes (2nd is today s). As it happened today, there are blue screen that appears, which included messages like 'crash', 'written' physical memory... etc.

In addition to send it for repair for this new laptop, I don't know what is the best way to manage this accident and what might be the best way to prevent this accident.

Recently I installed programs such as Microsoft SQL Server 2008, anti-virus program (Sophos), which I think are necessary (the first was for my studies as well).

Would appreciate any pointers to advise me if these could be the causes of the accident, and that I have to do to keep the better laptop or y at - it any generic deficiency maybe I should take notes.

Thanks in advance for any advice for this laptop.
    Kind regards

    Hey,.

First of all, I must say it is very difficult to say whether this problem is software or hardware related, but in most cases these accidents are caused by software or drivers...

I put t know how many programs you have installed, what OS you use and if there are compatibility problems, but you can test it yourself: Toshiba start recovery disc recovery facility. After that, you have the same settings that you have purchased.

You should examine it a little these parameters. If everything is ok, it was just a problem software or driver. ;)

  • Satellite A200 - with connected power supply screen goes black or partial

    I have a satellite A200 age of 5 years.

The laptop works fine when using the power of the battery when the AC power cable is plugged into the computer freezes sometimes displaying a partial color screen or a black screen. I tried with my son AC cord (also Toshiba) and same problem appears.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, very frustrating.

    Regards Dave.

It is not easy to help in issues that sometimes occur.
Have you done something about this? Something like test with its own OS preinstalled?

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem. It can be caused by software, but also the material can be responsible for this.
In my opinion, you should backup all your data and reinstall original Vista and test it with the factory settings.

If the problem occurs again you must be a hardware problem.

    ~ Icesolar

    Hi Icesolar

According to me, you know that there is no magic solution for BSOD problems. As far as I know, it happens more often because of pre-installed software. On my camera, I got only 3 times and always after installation of some third-party applications.

Have you noticed something similar? BSOD is started after you install an application? Try to delete the most recent pre-installed software, or restore the system to an earlier time before BSOD begins to appear.

As I had a few problems with the software, and I reinstalled everything using the supplied CD. Hello

I read in this forum that the Blues screen error message appears due to hardware malfunction or malfunction serious software.
Usually after installing the new OS since the portable Toshiba Recovery CD should work properly.
It is not easy to say why the blue screen appears on you laptop.
Maybe you can post the content of the error message in this forum, and maybe we will find a solution.

Even after repair successful when restarting requested repair, he showed the same error.
So I tried to recover with the recovery cd, but it turned out to be a tragedy.

He eraced my complete HDD to stone age and smiled saying recovery is not possible.

    Please help me...

    Hello

If the laptop can not be recovered using the recovery disc, then it feels the hardware problem.
Are you sure that your recovery disc is OK?
Have you tried to install the OS using another installation disc?

Perhaps it would be useful to check if the problem could be related to defective recovery disk, but if the BSOD (blue screen of death) appeared before the installation of the OS, I would say that the problem can be caused by an internal hardware malfunction

It would be necessary to check the modules of RAM and HARD drive.
HARD drive can be verified by using the diagnostic software from disk as Drive Fitness Test (freeware)

RAM could be checked with a tool like memtest, but you need a system to market, then in this case, you can not check the RAM using a software that I recommend to remove a module and test the laptop using a module in each slot

    Hi Odin

It is not easy to say why this happens, but if there are so many problems, I advise you to install the new OS by using the HDD recovery procedure.
Try to start your computer in safe mode and delete all data on the second partition.
Start your laptop with F8 install OS using these instructions - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

When you install the operating system by using this method of HARD drive recovery all data saved on the second partition will not be deleted.

  • Re: Satellite A200 - 14 d - cable defective screen or something else?

    Hi, guys. :)

I'm having a problem with my display. I don't have an external display to test on so I have to give the service a go because I don't want to buy the part after part and replace it with my 'old' just to know that the problem is not caused by the latter. That said, here is a more detailed description of the source of my headaches:

More than 3 weeks ago (yeh, that much!: D) the backlight of my screen (Toshiba Satellite A200 - 14 d) turned black. "No worries!" I thought because I had 2 cases before replacing the inverter Board. If things were really that simple... * sigh * I bought a frequency inverter making sure that is the problem (I can see what happens on the screen only if I have a bright source of light pointed in his direction - this is what made me think that the problem comes from the Commission of the inverter).

I replaced the inverter, but to my great disappointment, the bakclight does not turn on or at least not for long. I noticed that there is light in the lower right corner of the screen. Once I disassembled completely my screen and a large part of the laptop itself, I have riddled the cables a bit and now if I don't move around the screen and put it in a special position backlight turnes on until after load of the GRUB bootloader. But sometimes it lights. So obviously this isn't the backlight itself (phewwww) for when it is activated, I can see the entire screen and there is a bright light everywhere.

So before considering service I want to have a diagnosis of my own (with your help of course: D) and see, just for the record, if I'm right.
As I wrote before - I don't have an external display to test these things. I can play movies and games without a problem (it's - regardless of the fact that I do not see a thing without a flashlight in my hand into account: D).

So the omho problem is either the motherboard itself (which I can test with an external display :() or cable.
In view of the facts and experiences, I did and described above, I think that cable is the source of all evil.

    See you soon,.
    RBA

    > As I wrote before - I don't have an external display to test these things. I can play movies and games without a problem (it's - regardless of the fact that I do not see a thing without a flashlight in my hand into account: D).

Well, the backlight is controlled by FL inverter s thereby
If the FL inverter didn t solve the problem, then there must be problems with a screen itself

The external monitor would check if the problem is related to the graphics chip or the screen itself, but if you have no external monitor then I would recommend a visit to a downtown computer technician

I mean, it is best to check the parts first before replacing something without knowing if the part is really affected you know

    Hello

In general the BSOD is the product of the problem of hardware or software problem. To check if it of software or hardware associated with deliver its necessary to reinstall the OS and check if the BSOD will appear using the new OS preinstalled.
Of course, it s painful to do that because the recovery procedure would format the HARD drive and therefore the data backup is necessary!

I don t think that the different input voltage might affect the functionality of the laptop computer because the laptop uses the universal adapter that supports entry 100V-240V.

BSOD can be caused by faulty memory modules so I think that this test of memory could be useful also
