Re: Satellite M70 Bios password prompt after updating Bios

I upgraded my bios M70 with one published in 18/11/2008. After completing the upgrade the computer turned off. I tried to start it but it asks password. I never put or used the bios password before. What is the solution?

Hi guys

First of all I must say that it s really strange question, but I've seen questions;

What OS you have and what version of BIOS have you tried?

Driver page provides a BIOS for Toshiba Europe * Vista only * (* 5.20 - WIN *) and other BIOS is * NOT * compatible with Vista OS (* 1, 60 - WIN *)!

It would be interesting to know more details.

Welcome them

Toshiba bulletin board said that the need to update BIOS, so I followed the instructions but since then I have no internet connection, and cannot restore the connection that I lost all help Toshiba Bulletin Board today lost and none of the programs to sort the problems work - e.g.set assistants etc. I did not yet create rescue disks, but if I try to create them now I'll be able to restore to factory settings?

Can someone tell me if it's a failure caused by the BIOS update or I would return laptop to John Lewis for repair? Thank you very much for reading this

    Hey Buddy,

The default settings in the BIOS load after update? If this is not the case, go into the BIOS and load the default settings. You can enter the BIOS if you press F2 before Windows start and then press the F9 key to load defaults. Then save & exit the BIOS Setup.

You can access the Internet now?
You try to access the Internet with LAN or WLAN connection?

Also check device manager if all devices are recognized correctly.

    > I did not yet create rescue disks, but if I try to create them now I'll be able to restore to factory settings?
You can create the Toshiba Recovery disk every time. Just launch the pre-installed Toshiba Recovery Media Creator and follow the instructions on the screen. You need just a few blank DVDs to create the discs. Disks contain a factory image of settings which can be restored each time and how many times you want to so with these disks, you are on the safe side ;)

  • Satellite M70 - 354 - no sound after having some work done.

I got a Satellite M70 354 without software. I downloaded the drivers from Toshiba site tried to install XP, but when I came to SoundDrivers I found different situations.

As a first step, the President-symbol was visible and I heard the wave when you start and shut down Windows. After doing some work, the symbol was always there, but no sound was to be heard. I think it has to do with the different drivers installation sequence.

Can anyone provide a solution such as:
    (1) LANDriver
    (2) sound
    (3) display

    Thank you!

    Hey mate,

Have you already checked for yellow exclamation marks Device Manager? You must make sure that the sound card is listed there without yellow exclamation point. Check it!

I put t know but maybe that only the sound is muted? You can enable or disable using FN + ESC.

Finally, and especially in what concerns the order of installation you can find the document on the Toshiba page installation instructions. There, you can check the correct installation for your laptop and XP order.

  • Satellite P200-16V - password required after BIOS update

    Hello!

Recently I have updated my Bios because I had problems to install drivers after reinstalling vista. I read on this forum that the update of the bios was the solution, but when I updated my bios, I got in the big sleep problems. When I start my computer a password is required. Never set up a password and I don't know where to find it.

I'm the original owner of my laptop, so I do not know whence this password came.

To me it seems very strange also. I never heard that the BIOS password appears automatically without any modification at the beginning.
But this is not the point. The point is to know how to get rid of this password.

Sylvain said that the ASP guy can remove it. A sound is able to do. Then contact the ASP in your country for assistance!

  • How can I disable the BIOS on the Satellite M70-169 password

I bought a satellite laptop series satellite-169 number.

I registered the password using the Toshiba help utility that has been placed on the desktop, using the secure user function. After stop of the laptop and turned on, it prompted me to enter the password before it can start. When I entered the password which I thought I had entered windows using the Toshiba help utility under secure user, it gives me a message of invalid password whenever I try to enter the password. So I can't use my laptop.

I have need of your advice and assistance.

    Hi BKB

I don't know which characters you used to create the BIOS password, but I hope that you do not use certain exotic signs. You can delete the existing password only if you use the right one.

Another way to contact Toshiba partner in your country, and they will do it for you. Contact your local dealer and ask them for recommendation or check this page http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true

  • Satellite A300 - pad touch dead after update BIOS 2.20

    Hello

exact model is Satellite A300 PSAGCA-06M01N under Win XP.

I had a problem with the webcam, and I read in the forum that it can be solved by a BIOS update. so, I advanced and downloaded the latest version of the BIOS on the site of toshiba, especially for my laptop model. It went quite well with no error.

However when the computer restarts after that the BIOS updated my touchpad no longer works.
I went to Device Manager and could still see the Synaptics touchpad device and it says "this device is functioning correctly. but its completely dead and will not respond with the 2 keys. before I updated the BIOS I never had any problems with it.

I tried FN + F9, nothing helps. plugged in a USB mouse and it works without any problem. In fact, when I plugged in the mouse the synaptics software says "Deactivation of the key because of the external pointing device" for the device driver for the touchpad works.

If I remove the mouse, it will say the touchpad is restored, but it still doesn't work. restarted several times and still the same problem. went into BIOS and chose "default" not still a no go.

Can someone offer any advice or ideas please?
I really need the touchpad for the way I use the laptop...

    Hello

In many cases, the touchpad (pointing device) can be enabled and disabled in the BIOS.
I think you should check if this option is available in BIOS and if so, check whether it should be enabled.

  • Satellite C50B freezes at startup after update BIOS to 5.10

    Hello
    I updated the BIOS of my Satellite C50 - B - 14 d (PSCMLE) to 5.10 (a final release early sept. 2015).
The update succeeded, and the laptop runs as long as I do not install the drivers for the card WiFi (Atheros AR9485).
If I try to install the driver (it does not matter which, those of the Toshiba website or those of the manufacturer, of), the laptop crashes before the end of the installer.
Installing drivers from Device Manager makes the laptop freeze on when Windows starts (I tried 7, 8.1, and 10).
Completely on the Windows logo screen it freezes, and I have to turn off it.

In addition, the wired network adapter is not detected (it does not appear in Device Manager).
The same question is described here (http://www.eightforums.com/general-s...ses-start.html), but no solution.

Any suggestion? The BIOS may be downgraded? The BIOS update utility does not Flash an older version.

    Thank you!

    Hi indutry,

I also have exactly the same problem since updating my BIOS to 5.10 with my Toshiba C50 - B - 14 d PSC MLE

I have to start windows in safe mode without network to disable the Atheros AR9485 before restarting again in normal mode.
I now have to use an external WiFi adapter as my LAN port is now also lack!

Upset that the BIOS update has broken all my embedded network on the laptop.

I tried to update the Atheros drivers to the latest version, but as soon as the device is turned on again the system crashes and we're back to square one.

There is no solution that I can find other than turning off the unit and live without built in WiFi + LAN.

I hope Toshiba can be remedied with a new BIOS update?

  • Satellite P500 - screen remains blank after updating BIOS 2.90

I installed the new WOOD update through the station of service and after restart, the screen remains blank (out of service)?

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

And on the external monitor you see a photo or not?

In my opinion, something goes wrong during the update of the BIOS, and so the entire computer doesn t start anymore. All updates are pre-tested by Toshiba, so I doubt that only the screen isn't working anymore.

You should try to remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter for an hour. Then install the battery and plug in the AC adapter. Make sure the battery is fully charged and then try to start your laptop.

    It's working now?

Is that the BIOS for computers laptop Toshiba are designed for the operating system Windows and you can update only on the Windows operating system.

  • Re: Satellite A300 won't start after updating BIOS

Today I was installing recommended THAT BIOS update 1.70 to 1.90. During installation, the mouse cursor disappeared and has no reaction to the keys on the keyboard. But there was a message DO NOT TURN OFF COMPUTER. So I waited for long (an hour?), but the update progress bar was always in the same place - as my computers are suspended.

After a long time waiting without any response, I decided to reset the computer. Only way to do pressed turn on button for a few seconds.

But after that turn it on again there is nothing visible on the screen, only the reaction of the computer is that bright development under tension is turned on and hard drive will blink every two seconds. What should do? Please help me! I have very important data on the hard drive at this moment! Can I reset the BIOS? I tried to yutm on the computer after you press ESC and F2 key, but no effect. I put the CD with the operating system, but no effect.

Its possible that the BIOS chip is faulty, causing the update to the BIOS to fall down during the writing process.

If you have tried reinstalling the RAM and removing the power for an hour, it is not great thing else you can do except send it to an ASP for warranty repair.

  • Satellite A60: Problem of memory after update Bios V.1.9

    Hi all

I've just updated my bios to version 1.9 last week. Previously, I've upgraded my RAM from 512 MB to 1.5 GB (P4 2.8 GHz., 40 GB HARD drive) and my phone worked perfectly with the old Bios and RAM. After the Bios Update to the new version, 1.9, my laptop does not accept the module of RAM upgrade, windows xp still shows the blue screen, and then restart.

After upgrading RAM off, my laptop works again. I tried several ways to solve this problem as take the battery, then reinsert the RAM or even formatted my HARD drive and installed a new Windows XP, but it didn't work. So what can I do to make my laptop to accept the upgrade of RAM? How to solve this problem? For this reason I now intend to buy a new laptop, if the problem can not be solved since I simulate a program on this laptop, so it requires a lot of memory.

Thank you very much in advance for your answer.

    Hello

I put t really know what is the problem with the new update of the BIOS. In my opinion, you should contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner in your country and explain to them the situation. If your new module memory is compatible with the unit you should tell you want to have the old version of the BIOS. As much I know as technicians for this.

If they see that there is a problem with the BIOS update, I'm sure they will for free.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite P300 cannot connect WiFi after update BIOS

    Hello

After using the original BIOS updated to programm my P300 - 18M can not find wireless networks.

I've updated with file BIOS on 2008-09-22 without any problem. The strange thing is: using the network wireless switch
in front of the P300, it activates the Bluetooth on or off instead of the wireless network card. The wireless card is now is still running, but can't
    find any network.

Another labtop sees several wireless networks, as well as the P300 did before upgrading the BIOS.

Can someone give me some advice or help me with an older version of BIOS for Windows XP?

    Thnx!

    Hello

Very strange problem, but maybe it can be solved very easily
You should try to simply update the WLan driver.
In addition, you should access the BIOS and it should define the default settings.

    Check it out!

  • Satellite L50 - C slower RAM after update 1.40 BIOS (from 1600 to 1333)

Help I've just updated the bios of my laptop of version 1.20 to 1.40 from 'Toshiba Service Station'

now my RAM runs at 1333 Mhz instead of 1600 Mhz

I also checked the BIOS and there is no option to change the speed of the RAM. I have attached the screenshot below.
    Any fix for that?

    My laptop is L50-C1957

Now I think reflashing BIOS version 1.20.
Since he is originally with v1.10 then I updated to v1.20, which works well, then another update came v1.40, who have now my RAM running at low speed. (All downloaded via Toshiba Service Station and installed/updated day to day by Insyde.exe[which came also with the file downloaded from Toshiba Service Station])

is it possible to Flash the BIOS through Insyde.exe lower version? say 1.40 to 1.20

and is anyone know the path where the "Toshiba Service Station" save downloaded updates? I don't find, been looking for hours now...

  • C55-A-100 satellite does not power down after update BIOS 1.30

A week ago, the Toshiba software installed on my C55-A-100 Satellite suggested that I installed a new version of the BIOS to 1.3.

Since installing it my Satellite will not turn off.
If I close the lid the screen turns off but the laptop is running, if I open the lid nothing happens and I have to keep my finger on the power button to force it to close.

The same thing happens if I press the power button to turn off, blank screen and it continues to run, then I have to force a shutdown by holding the power button pressed down. I also noticed that the satellite seems to take ages to power.

Can anyone provide a solution or experienced the same problems.

The Satellite is running win 8.1

    Thank you
