  A few hours earlier, I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft. TO NUMBER A BLOCKED (no caller ID).  Said that they were receiving messages from my computer it has been infected by a virus. I ran the two Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, and as MANY say that NOTHING malicious was detected.

  Please advise me how to proceed. I asked them to call back tomorrow.

  at best, microsoft only responds to requests for information made by the people.

  Try running a system restore point on a date prior to the boot problem.

  I find a way! In the bios settings, secure boot - turn off! Then 8.1 update successful! :-)

  I received a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft. He said that one of my computers was not related to obtaining updates and I had to fix it. He said that does not connect would cause my computer down.
  I did not trust the person at all, it provided no evidence that he was from Microsoft when asked and he kept trying to get me out on my computer for him.

  Actually one of my computers has been freezing / crashing a lot but I just assumed it was because it is now old enough for a laptop. Is everything "that connects only not updates, causing accidents" actually a thing? Or I was right not to trust this person?

  I received several calls from a person alleging to be from microsoft saying: they received the information from my computer on which it runs slowly and to turn on my computer so that they can do the steps to put it right, I did not what I was skeptical, but he was insistent that I turn on my computer (Incidentally it was already running) I refused this and he said I should do what he says.  I put the phone down, but it rang again and insistent, he rang the Bell and then twice that I ignored it.  However, he then rang again later andmy husband responded, he said himwe do not need its services because it was thought not good, as I already told you this gentleman I was under the impression that it was not kosher, insisted that it was.  So what is happening here.   I'm not what anyone on the screen. In any case, he said that there are problems with my computer and it asked me to do something, I would not.  He hung up. He told me to click the button of windows on my keyboard. Then he told me type something in and running. But I refused. I said, how end I call Microsoft and give them your name... HE HUNG UP.

  It is simply one of the many scams that are doing the tour.

  Unless you have a prepaid support contract with Microsoft, then Microsoft will never contact you by phone, mail or e-mail about problems with your PC. You did while refusing to allow him access to your PC. All they want to do is to have access to your PC, so they can steal personal data (banking etc.) on your part.

  07/06/2011 I got a call from someone sounding forign claiming that he was from Microsoft and I had problems [virus]? with my computer, I know not how he got my phone number, I'm very careful with security on the computer, he asked if I was on the count at the moment and I replied that I was not asked if he asked me to open it then that I was in shock to receive such a call I did he asked me to go in on the computer to run a type in... so I did and it asked me to tell him what he read, I read it all to him and he said yes there is that your problem is He didrected me to his site [which turned out be on EBay] and told me that he could fix all my problems, I just had to choose options and we could start and that he guaranteed guaranteed for life , which cost $410.00, I always has been a bit shocked I did he did OK among "technicians", which I did it installed a few programs, of which one has since fallen by report so I received another call from him, but this time I realized that I had been scamed I googled his company, no DIACRITIQUE I googlled a few other things and learned that Microsoft make phone calls to people , so I hung up on him and I deleted from his programs, his name is Junaid Ali with an e-mail address of * address email is removed from the privacy *. I understand that I can write about what I bought, but do you be able to follow him and help others to be taken for a ride
