Recovery/install problems

If you have patience and think you can help please read this, perhaps, long-winded description of the problem I'm having.

I have a HP Compaq Presario CQ56 Notebook that has a Windows 7 operating system installed by the manufacturer.  I was told about this forum, after long discussions, that the laptop probably caught a virus and must be restored to factory settings.  I have the DVD of 4 necessary recovery I made when the laptop was new and after that make a full backup I ran the recovery DVDs. They went through a little more than an hour without a hitch and then the laptop started the implementation process.  Shortly after the introduction stopped and a message appeared on the screen indicating that the establishment had not finished.  The reasons given were that "a file without a name is not found" and "uiadump32.exe has stopped working".  -Re, I ran the discs twice with the same results.

Because I have a retail copy of the installation disc of Windows 7 which has been purchased for the PC of my wife, I tried to do a fresh install. It seemed to go ok until I tried to connect to the internet when the laptop reported that there was a problem with network card, perhaps a driver missing.  Without being able to connect to internet, I was stuck.  I thought I would try the procedure to upgrade with the Windows disk, but I found that I couldn't do it because, it seems, you must have an operating system to be upgraded.

Fortunately, with the help of a system repair disc, I came across how to restore the old system of my back upwards, which put everything back to as it was, complete with the virus of course.  Is there a way around the problem of the uia that will allow me to recover the laptop to factory settings? Also, am I missing something with the network adapter problem if I have to settle for a new installation? Clearly, the network card works now the laptop runs on the old set to the top.

Assistance would be welcome, but you probably meet from what I wrote, I'm not very computer wise.  So a full explanation on the steps I need to take would be more than useful. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm confused.  There may be a missing story background.  What have you done to disinfect your computer?  What antivirus and other security software is installed?

Perhaps the answer is to solve the problem, rather than trying to re - install drastic.

Provide me with the details of the software that you have installed, and I'll make some recommendations for cleaning.

I made a backup of the Vista installation that comes with the new laptop about 3 DVD.

The Toshiba product recovery media consists of a 1 CD + 1 DVD (for Toshiba Satellite Pro L300)

«Windows cannot find ' X:BIN\TOSDIALOG.» EXE' make sure you typed the name correctly and try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click search. "(OK button)

    Perhaps X: is the Ramdisk.
When I press OK the message he repeats two times, and then the computer restarts. The screen is blank behind the message and nothing else can be used.

You bought this laptop with pre-installed Vista OS and have created a recovery Toshiba (DVD) disk that contains the operating system Vista.

Now, you want to install Win XP.
Have you received this disc Win XP from Toshiba?
It is the recovery disk good for the right laptop model?

Usually, if you want to retrieve the OS from the recovery disk you need to start using this disc and the installation should run automatically

  • Satellite A40-151 recovery disk problem

    Hello

    I hope someone can help.

I bascially bought this new laptop altogether earlier and until recently he works very well, but a few weeks ago the hard drive, I think that then, it happened to the extent where everything would load and then the pc would lock or it would freeze on the windows loading screen.

Now, I did a little research and from what I could gather my HDD disappeared.

I then bought a new hard drive for this the same exactually that I had same model, same brand etc and even same GB, which is 30 GB.

I placed in the new hard drive and went to install windows xp on the recovery disks, but now I get a problem it starts and tries to install the os, but about 15% in the disc stops spining and I get an error 437 that the file cannot be run or something like that.

I did something wrong? do I need to buy a whole new operating system? I hope someone can help

    Thank you for your time

If you have purchased this Satellite as new and quite while ago why you pay money for new hardware? If one of the pieces of equipment is defective warranty will cover the costs of replacement.

As far as I know that satellite A40 is old enough laptop model, and I guess that it takes more than two years. Anyway, if possible try to install the OS by CD Microsoft facilities to determine if the OS facilities can be completed. Maybe faulty recovery CD is (some scratches).

  • Satellite A200 - recovery disk problems

I just bought the (all new store big tech) Satellite A200 for a few months and not used because I was on business trip to take. This weekend, I opened it up and running for a while.

After that I read the manual and found that I need to create a recovery from the tools provided disk. However, the problem start here:

    1. when I click on "Recovery Disc Creator", a message is display "no HDD Recovery area!, the toshiba Recovery Disc creator cannot be launched."

2 then I call center service support and to inform that there is a problem with the "recovery disk creator" and I have to retrieve the laptop using the hard drive partition recovery (waiting when 0 turning on the system) and the next step is complete:
    a. the laptop's boot in the recovery screen function.
    b. when I try to "restore windows PC" (option 3), it is display and error message on file not found.
    c. when I try to click on "restoring the recovery disk" (option 5), it asks me to put in the recovery disk which I do not have?

NOTE: I'm sure that the hidden recovery partition is therre. 1.46 GB. There is no way that I can access the hidden partition from a normal windows vista screen (without drive letter).

Then, I called the support center again (now what difference person support) and to inform you that:

    1. my recovery partition is corrupted and I need to get the recovery disk again (which I did not), it's going to cost me AUD $66 (I got from HP one and cost me AUD $15 and will be free if I come and Pick-up) for administrative costs. And it is a procedure.

    2. I explain to the support staff that it is brand new in the box laptop and I consider it as defective on arrival (DOA or FOA.

    3. I also ask what causes the problem and has been a consultant with the following reason:
    a. I may have deleted the partition accident (impossible because I still can start on the recovery partition, but can not recovery which all).
    b. There may be a virus infect in my laptop which was remove my recovery file in the hidden partition (ridiculous, you can delete some files in the drive on which you cannot yet access).
    c. I should create a recovery disc when the first time LAPTOP computer service. Which it is recommended, I get a question that if I do not, or I forgot to do so, this means that the software will automatically delete the system restore image file? I have no answer for that.

State (when I try to post this messgae), I'm still waiting for the staffs of complaint call fomr back (very tie when you talk in support of service these days).

NOTE 2: I would like to raise these issues, not because I want something (I do both IT support) complaints but I just want to solve the problem:

    1. is there some sort (software) allow me to access the hidden drive in and out of recovery disc image, my laptop still have the partition.

    2. is there a link I can download image recovery (in iso format) disc again? I've known it is not a question of wise, but when I ask the support staff that can re - install windows vista with the license key from the bottom of the laptop and has advised that it is not work or turn on.

    3. is there someone out there has similar problem

    Hi Thomas

I have a European model A200 (don t know what you model is) and the A200 was NOT equipped with the option of HARD drive recovery! This means that you cannot create your own recovery disk!
My laptop came with the Toshiba Vista recovery DVDs!

Still is it that your 1.46 GB hidden partition is not the Toshiba recovery partition but Vista hidden partition. It contains the WinRE files that are useful for repairing the operating system if something will go wrong!

Second, the Toshiba Recovery folder is too big for the partition of 1.46 GB!
So it is not possible that it would be placed on this s partition!

So finally, it seems that you will not be able to create the own recovery disk and therefore, you have to order it from the ASP in your country.

    Welcome them

  • Sun Virtual Box & Toshiba Satellite L10 - recovery settings problem

    Hi-

I had a problem with my Satellite L10 and earlier could not get full recovery settings after installing Virtual Box from Sun and ignore warnings from Microsoft.

I suspect that this has now cloned my drive. Something is very very wrong. I use Win 7 beta in the meantime but want my XP back.

Here are my notes at Sun Microsystems:

If anyone has had the same experience or that Toshiba recommends?

    Thank you

    Tim

    Hello

Virtual Box from Sun is not known to me and I don t know what happened with your installed Win XP on the HARD disk (if you have the OS installed)
Usually, you should be able to boot the system by using safe mode, restart your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. Select an option (last good configuration, etc.) when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and press ENTER.
    Check it!

If you are able to start in Win XP then you can use the System Restore tool and will mark the BONE to this early time until Sun virtual machine has been installed

  • Vista Service Pack install problem

I tried to download the Service Pack for Vista on my computer last night.  It was about to finish when he says that the service pack was not installing step 1 and reverting changes.  It is then preceded to stop.  I get the same message all night! All the answers that I found online, people were able to go to their start menu, but I can't even to this because every time it reboots it says me haven't installed ServicePack and it tells me it stops!  WHAT SHOULD I DO? Help, please!

    Jason

    Hello Jason,

Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community

If I understand your message, your computer is stuck in a constant fitness market program.

Lets see if we can solve this problem...

Turn off your computer by holding the power button for about 20 seconds.

Start your computer in safe mode: press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure:

    • Click Start
    • Click on Control Panel
    • Click on system and Maintenance link.
    • Click on the system link
    • In the left pane, click Advanced system settings
    • Locate the startup and recovery area, click the settings button.
    • In the startup and recovery window, uncheck the box next to automatically restart.
    • Click OK in the startup and recovery window
    • Click OK in the System Properties window
    • Close the system window

After that... While STAYING in safe mode I do a system restore and maybe try a manual install of the update later.

For the sake of space I refer you to the article about how to proceed.

  • recovery partition problem

I found my Systm recovery discs original, and system repair disk but they don't work. The system recovery disk using Dell Datasafe. the option chosen is to run it from my hard drive and the computer restarts when you restart the recovery partition, now I be problem with the Boot Manager: "status: 0xc000000f startup selection failed because a device required in the inaccessible" I have no problem starting the C drive.

so I thought I should run a repair on the MBR on the recovery partition, but then I found that the recovery partition is not assigned letter.  This means that I can't transfer the missing files or anything.  so the main question at the moment is how to name the recovery partition. and all other thoughts of system recovery by giving this error.  should I uninstall datasafe and install DBAR? If Yes, do I need to start on an earlier version of DBAR and upgrade? or can I go straight to the latest version?

    ladempke,

Click on the link below for more information to solve this issue. Manually reinstall Windows will not install the factory recovery partition.

  • After system recovery driver problems

After a total hard drive failure, I used the recovery disks to reinstall Windows XP Pro. Nine drivers are absent, and the customer support needed to help me find and install. The system is now updated to current levels and works very well. However two questions pilot apparently associated are:

    (1) when you start up the computer, a program called Apoint.exe is started from the STARTUP group. It does not end, but lies in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. When I click on it, I get a black screen with a symbol flashes in the upper left corner and a white square cursor. I can put end to the program with no problem apparent but would like to have complete normally or not run at all. Seems to be related to the touchpad driver.

    (2) from the start, something like 25 language files named Arabic.bin, etc. to let in the TEMP directory. They seem to be related to the Realtek Audio driver. I can delete them without apparent problem, but they come back the next time. Very annoying.

uninstalling drivers, restart your computer and try the drivers from the link below:

  • HP Pavilion p6774y - recovery disk problems

    Hello

I just receive purcashing House a new SSD for my HP Pavilion p6774y, when I met with this problem. Im trying to do the new SSD as main hard drive, it should be a nice update for this, but the recovery won't let me go ahead because its detecting the new hard drive less than the size of the factory, new ssd is 120 g vs the 1 original t. If I'm screwed? or is there some other way than to buy a new copy of windows 7?

    Any contribution is appreciated.

    Kind regards

    You have a number as three ways to proceed;

    (1) you can 'clone' of your current hard drive to the new SSD. This can be done with either the current installation of Windows or after you run the current hard disk recovery process. Please see PCMag - how to clone a hard drive for more information on the subject.

    (2) If you can still read the 25 characters on the COA affixed Microsoft Windows product key at the bottom of the computer, you can install Windows 7 Home Premium using this key. Please see "how to install Windows 7 without the disc" to get instructions on how to download Windows 7 SP1, create the installation media and install Windows 7 SP1 by using the 25 digit product key from the COA Microsoft on your computer.

  • Portege 3440CT OS install problems

    Hello
Just decided to dig my 3440 ct that has Windows 98se on it and reformat an update with XP. He has only 64 MB at the moment, but I thought that if all goes well, then I would switch to 192 MB and whack in a disk that is larger than the original drive 6 gb for the moment. I have the floppy a usb card pcmcia (a Toshiba one).

When I try to install XP, it sees the Cd and begins starting the process, for example. loading devices. But whenever it gets to the last line says «the installation program starts now...» "it crashes with a blue screen with an error"0x0000007B"that I find something to do with the boot drive.

Then I deleted the diving and installed XP properly on a desktop computer using an adapter, put it back in the laptop it starts very well until the first wime you see the XP logo and then crashes with the same error

Then I tried a 60 GB drive, I had in my laptop main that I know works fine and got exactly the same message.

I then tried Windows 2000 which had the same problems, but eventually worked with 98SE. I tried both with FAT and NTFS and I installed the latest version of bios 1.60. But in vain.

Someone at - it good ideas as to what im doing wrong?

    Hello

When you install the restore CD is a simple file and when the external drive is just plugged and recognized that it is not problem to install it but when you install the original version of Microsoft installation must be interrupted and the unit should restart for the installation continues. At the moment the external drive can not be found anymore. I assume that this is the problem in your case.

Try to create two partitions and copy the CD Win on the second partition and try again to install the unit.

  • Windows 7 recovery/install

    Recovery of Windows 7

Hey everyone I got a question which I am sure was answered several times, I'm new to these forms then give a break lol. I just bought a HDX x 16-1353 and I did the Vista recovery disk. I love the fact that after installing the Hp software comes and installs all the necessary drivers. What I don't like, is that it's an original image, so, once installed you need to brand new update (programs HP drivers). I plan to purchase windows 7 ultimate and I would like to install fresh in this way, how can I do this? Should I install windows 7, then download each form hp driver and then do a recovery disk? Or is there a way I can install windows 7 and the end of the installation software HP take back as my vista disks and complete installation with everything I need. I don't want to register some progs like Norton. I would like to know what you think

    Thank you

Assuming that you plan to buy Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade, you would start a "clean install" by starting on your Windows Vista desktop.  While on the desktop, insert the Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade disc into the DVD drive, and then select Custom Installation (This starts the process for what is essentially a clean install of Windows 7).  Once installation is complete, visit the Windows Update web site (Windows Update icon will be in the control panel) and click find updates.  Install all updates, then visit HP Support & drivers for download all drivers Windows 7 availability / extra designed for your specific model of HP computer.

After you are convinced that your computer is filled with updated, you can create a System Image of your hard drive using the tools available in all versions of Windows 7.  For more details, please see:
