(Redirected) Linux drivers from Dell dimesion 4600

Hi, I'm new to the Forum so if I did something wrong I will fix it with goodness. And I also try to rush toward the door while typing this. I have a dell dimension 4600 with a BONE called Zorin Lite is installed. Its bascically Ubuntu, but my problem is that I have a belkin f5d7000 version 4000 PCI Wireless card and I have no idea how to do to install the drivers. I know that I need to know the chipset, but I can't seem to find it.

  • Order of Installation of drivers from R3 Alienware 17, Windows 10

I understand that this question has been asked repeatedly by many people, but I know questions and wishes to confirm again the installation order more later to identify if I have a related question of drivers.

Please provide me with the list of drivers in the order of installation based on the names of the drivers on the support page, as it will be easier for me to understand.

    Thank you

I have a 17R3 and I used the installation order proposed by Dell support page, with no problems.

HOWEVER, I do not use the graphics drivers from Dell; I used the screen to uninstall the utility driver and installed the drivers directly from Nvidia and Intel and continue to update these sources that Dell was so far behind in the early release of Skylake and Windows 10.

And you go to update your graphics drivers regularly so probably anywhere in the order that update you.

(BTW what direct installation of Nvidia, I do not install all the other stuff (GeForce experience, servers, etc.) that I never use.) Even with the Dell stuff, I don't bother with anything irrational

I also removed the Dell network drivers and use the driver on-line Rivet, had no problem with the networking since that.

It is possible that all of the current drivers of Dell are now very well, but at the end of last year, they were pretty useless.

  • Drivers for Dell OEM 7570 on Optiplex 745

So, I caught on the Bay, a video card OEM Dell 7570, which was a work of a XPS 8500 sweater, and I'll like to stick it in an optiplex 745 as an upgrade of a radeon 4650.  Tried to install it and not go.  I only get the basic windows vga (800 x 600 with 32-bit color) adapter function, when I want a 1080 p configuration (my optiplex 745 now works as a htpc), but at least I know that the card is not fried.

I also tried to install catalyst 13.1, but it does not work (I had uninstalled the prior installation of catalyst with the old drivers of HD 4000 series and also followed that upward with a wipe the previous drivers with driver sweeper befor trying variations of the catalyst)

Apparently this particular cards OEM cannot use the ordinary AMD drivers; and cannot use the drivers from Dell.  I even tried to use the 8500 XPS drivers who were for this card (once again, with an uninstall of previous catalysts and a wipe of driver before you install the drivers for the 8500 XPS for dell OEM 7570), but that didn't work.  I suspect that it is because my optiplex 745 OS is Windows Vista Business 32 bit and to Win 8 64 bit dell OEM drivers.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?  Is there a Vista 32-bit driver for Dell OEM radeon graphic card 7570?  Should I try to install 8 64-bit Windows and then try the OEM drivers?  Or tried the drop in this map, a race of fools?

Reflections and suggestions would be appreciated.

  • (Redirected) Cannot boot from the HARD drive on dell n5010 with SSD and HARD drive installed

I have my old dell n5010 (15R Inspiron) with SSD (Samsung EVO 840 120 G) installed on the main drive Bay and the HDD (Samsung HJJ 500 G) on the optical drive Bay.

It is a typical way to add an SSD on such an old laptop (bought from dell.com.cn in 2011).

My Windows 10 operating system has been installed on the SSD using Samsung Data Migration software, so the previous C drive was pointless. So I formatted and installed an operating system Ubuntu 14.04 on it, hoping the grub OSs double beginning located on the HARD disk.

However, I find no the Dell bios boot option to boot from the HARD drive installed in my optical drive Bay. All the choices are 'Hard Drive', 'Network' and 'Diagnostic '.

But I was definitely sure that my bios program has detected the SSD and HDD with information on the main menu of the bios.

And the LED on the optical drive Bay was immediately once I pressed the Start button on my laptop.

As a general rule, all things were right except for options of the bios boot.

Is there a way I can boot from HDD (with installed Ubuntu) while remaining has my SSD on the main drive Bay? I don't want to swap their positions, because the SSD is super fast on the main drive Bay.

I have alse won't migrate 10 Windows to the HARD drive and reinstall Ubuntu on the SSD, because I'd like my windows be loaded quickly.

Someone at - it the same problem with me?

    Any suggestion is appreciated!

Here are the drivers for Windows 7 (x 32) for his Creative Labs SB0200 card.

    (1) extract the files from the link above

    (2) go to the Device Manager

    (3) right click on the sound card with drivers and select update drivers missing

    (4) find the drivers in the folder named "Creative SB Live! Series (WDM).

    (5) given that these were built for XP or 2000, you must ignore the warning messages.

    (6) TADAA!

One problem is that I can't find the driver for the MIDI port or whatever.

Not a problem because I don't need it and no other bad noticeable.

  • Can I put Windows 7 on a Dell Dimension 4600?

    Hello

I have a 6 years old Dell Dimension 4600 PC with the following specifications:

    • Processor Pentium 4 3.0Ghz
    • 1 GB OF RAM
    • nVidia Geforce FX5200 128 MB graphics card
    • Windows XP Home Edition
I expect to make a custom on this old PC Setup, but my problems are with the drivers.
I recently used the special Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, which tells me that I meet all of the minimum requirements, and of course programs such as Outlook Express will not available on Windows 7.
In the middle of this report is a link to the Dell (Windows 7 section) website where they tell me to go learn more about compatibility. When I do click on this site and then click on hardware compatibility, it brings me to the next page: http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/topic.aspx/emea/shared/support/dsn/en/document?c=uk&docid=360683&l=en&s=gen
The page says there is apparently only ONE socket support Dell Dimension model which can be improved on the range Dimension, covering a good 30-50 models. I'm sure that this is due to support driver from Dell, which is absolutely horrendous. The drivers on the site range Dell Web from 2004 to 2007 (for the only critical updates), for my model. The only OS supported on the site it is XP. Research on the Web sites of manufacturers of drivers, I find that the newer drivers are available for my hardware, more compatible with Vista. Do I have the old OEM from Dell specific drivers or the drivers provided by manufacturers! Can I REALLY move to Windows 7! Dell said it is not supported (and is fast enough to give me a link telling me to buy a new PC), but I have friends who have installed on other Dimensions of Dell old where it worked a treat. I don't want to lose £70 on a BONE that may not work and may leave me without a usable PC!
    What should I do!

    Hi Fred

Not taken in charge and is not possible are 2 different things.

How you proceed depends on how comfortable you are troubleshooting. It is very likely that you will end up you are looking for a few drivers for hardware on the sites of manufacturers or possibly replace certain hardware devices that are simply too old to work.

Windows 7 includes many of the compatibility of the tools that can help when you use the devices more old drivers/hardware and software troubleshooting.

If the Upgrade Advisor did not identify hard incompatible devices, I would say you should go try before the upgrade. Make sure you have all the latest drivers for the hardware installed and available on external media.

If you have any problems, come back here and start the new thread, we are here to help.

    Kind regards

Thank you for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

  • Where update the drivers from?

If you update drivers from your site to computer/laptop brands (for example Dell etc.)?  or get the new drivers from the manufacturer that make your drivers (drivers brand such killer Networking, NVIDIA etc.)?

    Hello

Visit the site of the manufacturer of your system/motherboard first, then check the real device
manufacturer sites an even newer version. BIOS, chipset and a few other proprietary drivers
always be available on the website of the manufacturer of the motherboard of the system.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Look for the updates with system Maker (manufacturer of motherboard for customized systems)
BIOS, chipset of low level drivers, and device embedded and separate major
drivers. DriverView execution - VIEW driver Microsoft set hide - updated from those who don't
    Dump on their behalf.

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded
on your system. For each driver in the list, additional useful information is
Poster: load address of the driver, description, version, product name,.
company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit system Maker as replacements and manufacturer device which are the
most up-to-date. Control Panel - write - graphics card - device manager
the brand and complete model of your video card - double-click - driver
tab - write version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this cannot
No matter what as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard
If there are 3rd party with their own software and drivers and the other main device drivers
    you have.

Now, go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and
then device Maker (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) of the site and get their
the most recent versions. (Look for BIOS, Chipset and software updates from the Maker system
    (website here).

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN -.
    REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you are
installation actually appears. This is because that some rollback of drivers before the
later is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so to install a driver - restart
-check that it is installed and try again if necessary.

Repeat BTW to the manufacturers - manufacturers of devices DO WORK DO NOT THEIR SCANNER-
    Heck manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

    I hope this helps.

  • Dell Dimension 4600 with pack 1 XP does not connect to the cable modem

Hello, I have a Dell Dimension 4600 older XP. The hard drive is dead and I replaced and then reloaded pack 1 with the intention of making all the revisions on the internet. The problem is that I cannot now connect to the internet via my broadband router directly connected to the computer. It seems that the wizard to connect only wants to use the dial upward and does not connect to the router. Just recompose. It seems to ignore the connection from the router to broadband and wants to use the dial upward only.

Go to control panel of control/Internet options/connections, then set it - never establish a connection - then click on apply.

You mean 512 MB and 256 MB (not GB) I guess.

but he had got terribly slow.  Dell said that no matter if the size of the maps varies.  However, my system does not reflect the installation of additional memory.  It is preferable or essential only for install memory cards additional of the same size as the existing cards?

See the response of Daave, but also to note the following two points:

    1. you started with 512 MB. The amount of RAM you need for good
performance is not a unique situation for all. You get the right
performance, if the amount of RAM you have prevents you from using the
page file significantly, and this depends on what applications you are running. Most
are people who run a typical range of business under XP applications
somewhere around 512 MB work well, others need more. Almost
everyone will see poor performance with less than 256 MB. Some people,
especially those making things like the large photographic edition
images, can see a performance gain by adding even more of
    512MB - sometimes much more.

Unless you have special needs, so it is likely that the 512 MB you
started with was enough for you.

    2. you say "he had got painfully slow." This implies that the
performance was OK, but it had worsened. This reinforces that
I said in point 1 above. You don't need more memory simply because that
    time has elapsed.

There are several possibilities for why he had obtained more slow, but the
more likely is that you have been infected by malicious software. What
anti-virus and anti-spyware programs that you are running? They remain until
    Date?

You should always get your drivers from the manufacturer.

Link above is where you should find your Vista drivers
If it is not obtained by Dell, and you have integrated graphics, you are out of luck...

  • Poor resolution on my monitor after installation Wondows - 7 Ultimate in my Dell Dimension 4600

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my Dell Dimension 4600 af ew days ago.  I remember buying the computer at least 6 years ago.  Now my computer does not recognize that my monitor flat screen default PnP monitor and I have very low resolution.  I have a small publishing company and monitor high resolution is critical for my needs.

I changed the cable blue from my PC to the monitor and also changed the screen (I have other PC at home).  But the problem remains

When I went on the Dell site and punch in my Service tag number for my PC, it shows that the PC has only the XP operating system and does not show the new operating system I installed, namely Windows 7 Ultimate.

Dell people tell me that my PC has a system of factory-installed XP operating and that is why it does not recognize the new operating system.  Is this true?

I'm about to call "Uncle" and buy a new computer.  I would like to at least get the computer as an emergency response unit.

Don't I have a solution to my problem?  Change the video card, a solution to my problem?

Yes, change the graphics card for a new would greatly, but AGP on the cards supported for use with Windows 7 is hard to find these days,

In addition, there is virtually none of your computer is properly cared for anything other than XP. You'd better put the money towards a new computer...
