Removable disk shows as hidden, impossible to access any file

I have a flash drive that I am more able to access. When I plug it in, I hear the sound that Windows has recognized. But it does not open automatically (what I changed my settings the default for mixed content). When I go into devices and printers, it appears, but when I right click on it and select browse files, go to the flash drive is greyed out. When I go into my computer, the flash player does not show unless I have check the option to display hidden items. When I double click on the drive, I get the message: Please insert a disk in the removable drive (g). Also, I went to the command prompt and typed in g: vol. I received the error message: the device is not ready.

When I click Properties, there is no name in the top box and when I type something in this box, I get the message: the volume name is not valid. Please enter a valid volume name. In addition, it shows that the used space is 0 bytes in size and is also 0 bytes free space. It is a 8 GB flash drive with about 2 GB of data. When I clicked on the tab tools and error checking, I received the error: the disk check cannot be performed because Windows cannot access the disk.

I removed my flash drive, then went to the Device Manager and deleted all surplus hidden drives as well as the disc to my flash drive. When I reinserted my flash drive, it reinstalled and now appears in Device Manager. When I click Properties, it says that the device is working properly, but I still can't access anything whatsoever. Then I went to disk management so that I could try to reassign the drive or the name (change the drive letter or paths), but the option is greyed out and inaccessible.

I tried to format the drive (knowing I want to delete all the data but be able to recover most, if not all of it), but received the error: there is no disc in the drive G:. Insert a floppy disk, and then try again.

I tried to use a recovery program - where I had accidentally deleted all the files (EaseUS Data Recovery) but it does not recognize the drive. I downloaded a few programs that claim to be able to recover this drive but have had no luck so far.

I'm working on a HP Pavilion Notebook G6 (I also tried this flash drive on my desktop but had the same results), with Windows 8, 64-bit operating system.

I can provide screenshots of everything I tried, if necessary.

Apart from take that to an outside company, is there anything else I can try? I really, really, really need the files on this USB key. My job depends on it.

you suggest that the manufacturer of flash disk...

If recovery is possible they will help you further with her.

  • printer shows as removable disk drive

Today, after several years of operation, my HP Officejet J6480 started appearing as a removable disk drive, which makes my out-of-date configuration backup USB drive (the designated reader is a letter out now).  I can redo the backup configuration to get around this, but would rather fix the problem.   Still, it will print and fax.  I tried unistalling the material and then put it back, but still have the same question.  How can I get that back to just a printing device and not a removable disk?

    Hello

The machine probably uses the card reader on the printer as a reader of withdrawal. You can ALWAYS reassign the external HARD disk drive letter and keep your backup even drive. Please use the tutorial below for Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8:

    Original title: widows installation problem

I have Windows XP Professional running on a desktop older.  I cleaned the disk and I would use it only as a 'internet '.  It works well and response times are pretty fast, but when I connect I get a box that says "Please wait while Windows configures FAX"... this process stops and I get another message that says "the component you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or another removable disk that is not available", "put the 'FAX' disk and click OK. , "" Use Source: '1' "»

The first question is I do not use a fax application and never did, I have tried every disk I can think of to complete the process, but I get the same message with each one 'the path '1' is not found. This will take place two or three times at the beginning upward.  How can I prevent Windows Setup tries to install something that I do not use or do not seem to have?  I deleted any fax program, that I could find on the computer, and nothing seems to work.

    Hello

    1. have you done any change in software on the computer lately?
    2. are you able to install other applications and programs successfully?

Check to see if the problem exists in Safe Mode, if the computer works as expected in mode without failure, then we can solve the problem in the clean boot state. There is an application which is set to start when you start the computer and which launches the installer of Windows.
    a. refer to the article below for the procedure safe mode in Windows XP

    b. you need to perform a clean boot to find the program that is causing and then disable or remove.
