Reset the computer to start

Hello

When I bought my desk, it has a 19 GB drive or something where PC Reset file has been saved, but somehow, it has been deleted. SO I can't reset my PC now.

I want to know how I can recreate this player and reset my computer.

I want to do as I bought it today, I want to reset everything. So that I can reset my pc and activate windows.

Thank you.

Hello

If the HP recovery partition is the factory original for the PC that you are using, and that you use the original motherboard which has been delivered with the PC, then it should activate automatically.

Thanks for posting on the forum.

I agree with the post of Jeeped formatting the drive will be enough for what you want.

Make sure you have the 25 character product key to activate before the start. If the machine is an office look at the back of the COA that will have the product key; the COA on a laptop is usually on the bottom. The product key may be also in the case of CDs, the installation discs are in or in any documentation you received. If you are not able to find, Jeeped of Belarc or Magical Jelly Bean suggestion will help.

After Windows Setup don't forget to install drivers for all your hardware, i.e., motherboard (chipset), audio, video, LAN (network adapter), etc. Check the support site of the manufacturer of the computer for the latest Windows XP drivers for your specific model of the system. Depending on your specific hardware, you may need to visit the support site of the manufacturer for the latest drivers. Belarc Advisor helps you identify the hardware of the machine.

Original title: Installation of Windows 7.

I tried to install Windows 7 (clean install from XP and reveived the following message is displayed:)

Windows didn't prepare the computer to start the next phase of the installation.  to install Windows, restart the application.

I restarted my PC, anti anti-virus disabled (as advised) and still get the error message.

According to the Upgrade Advisor Windows 7 my PC is compatible.

    Any ideas?

If you have compatible hardware and your computer still stops responding, disable any unnecessary material. Remove (USB) universal serial bus devices. Remove or disable network cards, sound cards and cards of the series; and then restart the installation.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

    How you attempt installation?

You are upgrading from a previous version of Windows?

Are there devices non-essential attached to the system as a external hard drive or USB key?

If so, try to disconnect them, they might interfere with installation.

Could you give your full system specs?

If you have compatible hardware and your computer still stops responding, disable any unnecessary material. Remove (USB) universal serial bus devices. Remove or disable network cards, sound cards and cards of the series; and then restart the installation.

1 disable any security software before attempting to upgrade

    2. make sure that your computer is updated (devices and applications)

  • Pavilion dv7: no internet after resetting the computer

I don't know if I am posting this in the right advice.  I had to do a reset on my Pavilion dv7 laptop, kept my personal files, but now I can't access the Internet.  It shows that I am connected to my wireless network, but I can't go to all the websites that I go into my browser.  I went to Device Manager and went to network adapters.  I can say that the driver works fine and I don't see the warnings or errors on other drivers in Device Manager.  I am at a loss of what to so any help would be appreciated.

    Hey @Esoxdiver,

I understand that you are experiencing you encounter some difficulties to connect your laptop in WiFi and I want to help.

Here is a list of steps that solve common problems with wireless connectivity.

First of all, we have a step by step guide to guide you through the process of diagnosis here:
Troubleshooting your wireless network and Internet access

A second option is to try the following steps:
    Network power cycle:
    1. turn off your laptop.
    2. unplug the power to your router.
    3. disconnect the power to your modem.
    4. wait at least 45 seconds.
5 reconnect the modem and wait for it to come back online.
6 plug in the router and wait for it to come back online.
    7. turn on your laptop and test your connection.

Turn off the power to the adapter:
    1. open Device Manager. (Win Key + R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
    2. expand the network adapters.
    3. right click on the Ethernet adapter / wireless, and then click Properties.
    4. click on the power management tab.
5 remove the check mark next to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    6. click on OK.
    7 test cycle.

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without the quotes and press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

It can also help to reset the winsock catalog:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes, and then press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

    Reinstall the NIC drivers:
    1. download the drivers from here , but do not run them again.
    2. go to your Start menu/screen and type Device Manager.
    3. expand network adapters.
    4. right click on the wireless adapter and choose uninstall.
5 install the drivers downloaded in step 1.
    6. restart your PC and test.

    Test an Ethernet connection:
Explicit. Test if the problem persists on a wired connection to the adapter hardware troubleshooting wireless can be directed to the appropriate areas.

    Test another connection:
Many people excluded their home network as a problem if another device working on the same network. Networking is not as simple as that. Each device interacts differently with your router or modem and it is impossible to exclude the settings for this device until the laptop has been tested on another network.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, try this document published by Microsoft for network management issues: wired and wireless network problems. You can change the operating system with the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the document.

The above steps are presented by @Great-Christine-Tree

I hope this helps. If so, please hit the Thumbs Up and accept as a Solution.

Try to rename or delete the file prefs.js and possible prefs - numbered # .js and a user.js file possible to restore the values all default prefs.

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":
