RoboHelp HTML v. Word

I've recently been responsible for building a resource "just in time" for a call center. I will need to develop three independent projects for the resource, two of which are for different platforms that we conduct business on and the third will be a guide/glossary of General society. I want to merge the three projects all the 40 people who will use the resource have access to all three sets of information from one place.

I have a choice of HTML HR v9 and RH v 5.X to generate projects with. I'm new on HR in general and don't really know what version would be best for this task. Any suggestions?

Thank you for the answers! In what the consensus leans toward beginning with v HR 5 this is how I'm going to start. Thanks again

  • Import of Word 2002 RoboHelp HTML 5 problem

I'm obviously a beginner and it's very basic, but it drives me crazy. Import of Word documents is no longer works. I use Robohelp HTML 5 - project of Webhelp, Windows XP, Office XP (Word 2002). Last month, import a document Word has worked (well after that I cleaned up everything in Word first). NOW when I try to import a Word doc (with headers preserved, auto creation of styles OR nothing checked) I get a dialog box warning stating "Microsoft Word seems to be unresponsive. You want to continue waiting for an answer? "Of course he never does this loop. Word opens with an empty Document1 and "Converting * .doc" present in the taskbar. It is not locked, but it does not end import either.

I have now reinstalled MS Office twice and Robohelp 4 times (I forgot to disable the antivirus protection once, I did not edit the file RegEdit first and even tried with disabled once ADSL modem). Unfortunately, I did a few things because it did not work properly. I've updated the RAM in my computer and I got DSL high speed internet (Yes!) ... which shouldn't have been a problem. I'm not so sure about the addition of a working group and tent unsuccessfully to set up a network for your laptop's internal wireless. And then... drum roll... it is the thing of Pando. No programs installed, but the music and movies downloaded. I did uninstall Pando because I believe it was working properly eventually, but not positive.

Sorry to write a book. I've read countless messages but not finding what I need. Hope someone can help because I am alone in my very small business using Robohelp or trying and I don't have anyone to ask. Adobe will support not 2 versions back and what I read on Robohelp 7, I'm afraid to upgrade. I appreciate any help!

    Thank you
    Debbie

No, it is important that HR is installed last.

Where is the Normal of Word template installed?

It is important that Word is run once after installation before trying to work with HR.

Should not alter a scope but change the security settings for Word for average rather than the default value of the height.

Corresponds to the Word installation standard installation on your PC, nothing unusual?

Tell us more about Pando, and why you think that this might be relevant.

  • RoboHelp HTML Version 7 - when does end for Version 7?

I will repeat the question in the case: RoboHelp HTML Version 7 - when does end for Version 7?

    Thanks, Chuck

You say 'I'll repeat the question in the present case' as if you've been ignored. Where did you go after because I didn't know asked recently.

I understand the policy of Adobe support for the current and previous version. That would mean support ended with the introduction of RoboHelp 9 which was around June 2011.

For the most part, you should get all the support you need here, but it will be limited to supporters of the forum are all passed to later versions. Therefore, until we can remember.

Whether or not stick you with your current version will depend on your outings. If it's CHMS you should be fine and Print will be OK as long as stick you with a version of Word taken in charge by Rh7. If you need to generate WebHelp, expect all sorts of problems for which there is no solution.

    Hello

When I generate output files using RoboHelp HTML 10 printed Documentation, the pages on the screen containing code for all items on all pages. When I print the document, the code has disappeared. Anyone know how I can't view the code on the screen?

    Thank you.

Please do not take into account. I chose to show hidden text in MS Word and when I disabled the check box, the strange code on the screen disappeared.

  • Editing outside of Robohelp HTML source code

If I had to change my RoboHelp outside RoboHelp HTML source files, recommend the community? Notepad? WordPad? Word? If you want to know why, my boss won't pay for another license for RoboHelp.

To save $30 a month for a subscription!

Notepad or any text editor is very well. No doubt you then copy files to a machine with HR to update the output and research etc. Do not use Wordpad or Word.

  • Legend icons for RoboHelp HTML?

Greetings, RH9 assessment to decide whether this is a useful purchase and I am feel very difficult to get up and running.

After this long introduction, are the two questions for today: is there a place where a legend of icons?

I have question marks on topics (to create a project, import a Word doc), and have no idea what they represent and what should I do to standardize the headings to be without these polling points.

Also, yesterday tried to import an HTML document with lots of sections DIV (11 pages) and no subjects have been created in RoboHelp HTML. What would be the correct way to import it so that each DIV is a separate topic?

I'd appreciate help get something really works.

    Thank you, Donna

Are you referring to these icons?

If so, this is the icon of the standard HR topic.

  • Generation of hlp files in RoboHelp HTML

Is it possible to generate RoboHelp HTML version 9 .hlp files? We will generate help for a program files more former that uses only .hlp or .chm files. I've been able to generate RoboHelp for Word .hlp files, and I really don't won't use it. But I was not able to generate RoboHelp HTML .hlp files.

    Thank you.

From what I remember reading here, the .hlp files cannot be created in the HR for the version of Word.

  • RoboHelp HTML 9 Max pane search controls results

RoboHelp HTML 9 with WebHelp output...

I have a two part question. By default, when our users to do a search in compiling dhelp, they see 10 search results per page. Is there a place in my RoboHelp interface where I can change this for the greatest number? I found a line of code in a file *.js where it seems that I could change it manually, but would prefer not to have to do this route in the case which causes involuntary hiccups elsewhere.

    var nMaxResult = 10;

Second part of my question is related to the statement in notes/new features release for RoboHelp 9 State users can control the search results notes max per page on-the-fly as they use the PDF search panel. This feature applies only to the WebHelp and WebHelp Pro and my output is WebHelp. I can see a line of code for this feature in the whfform.htm file but nothing shows like that in the search within compiled help pane. Is this a bug or is at - it a control somewhere in the settings of the RoboHelp project that allows me to activate this option for users? The last 2 lines below seems to control this area. The referenced items in the search pane in the first 4 lines appear ok in my search bar.

    gsTitle = "Type in the words to search for:";
    gsTitle = "Type in the words to search for:";
gsHiliteSearchTitle = "culminating point search results."
gsHiliteSearchTitle = "culminating point search results."
    gsMaxSearchTitle = "Search results per page";
    gsMaxSearchTitle = "Search results per page";

Thanks for any idea that you can provide,

    KF

I don't see anywhere in the configuration dialog box to control the number of search results, it seems that you have to edit this file.

When the user goes to the 'search' tab, they should see this:

See if you get this with a new project or one of the samples. Click Open in the start page of RoboHelp and then click examples in the Ribbon on the left.

  • RoboHelp HTML 9 crashes often

    Hello

I use the latest version of RoboHelp 9. All by the most rudimentary tasks in my project, as the formatting of the text using the design window and edit HTML, RoboHelp hang or crash unexpectedly. What is happening at least five times a day recently. Many pages also contain Word HTML tags and other undesirable code of the word that I delete manually - don't know if that has to do with the crash. I can't understand what is happening.

Plug my computer is the following:

    CPU: Pentium Dual-Core 2.5 GHz

    Installed 4 GB memory

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit OS

Any comments would be much appreciated.

I took the liberty to look a little more later in this you. As others here have suggested, save the files from M$ Word like help of pourrait 'filtered' HTML, you spent your problem. I know that you do have access to the original documents M$ Word, but this is probably not a problem - you see, the reason why M$ Word embedds all that junk in the file HTML is because he thinks that you have to re - open the file in Word and not lose information specific to word. If you have access to M$ Word, you can simply open the HTML saved in Word, and then resave it "filtered". Of course, even Micro$ oft "filtered" output still contains more junk than you want and for reasons I knew once, but forgot since then, don't put order does a better job cleaning out unfiltered, than it does the output filtered.

Looking at the M$ Word output, however, I noticed that most of the Junk had been incorporated in comment tags ( ). Tidy has the ability to remove the comment blocks: "-Yes hide comments» So, I took a simple document to Word 7 page M$ and saved as HTML from Word 2007. Then I added these two lines in my file "tidy.cfg":

    hide comments: y

    Word 2000: y

After running Tidy on my Word document, it was very, very clean and had been reduced in size to about 2/3. All elements of the 'w:', 'm:' and 'o': namespaces have been removed, as well as any misuse of this word M$ of the attribute "style." My version of Tidy is since December 2008.

I suggest that you try again Tidy on your original M$ Word .htm files using the configuration options that precede. This can help you over the hump; If not, let me know and I'll see if I can make a few changes to Tidy which will get rid of what still bothers you.

(If after you import own HTML RoboHelp is still stuck on you, I can't offer any additional help, at this time, it is clearly a problem of RoboHelp, is not a HTML problem).

  • Office 2007 and RoboHelp HTML 8

We have been asked to upgrade Office 2003 to Office 2007.  I checked the forums, but all the debates were dealing with older versions of HR. Someone had questions using Robohelp HTML 8 with Office 2007?

If you never use HR for Word or import or export to Word files, so it's a non-issue. Even if you have one of those things that RH8 was tested using Office 2007. It may be preferable if expose you a few specific cases, in which case you need to integrate RH8 with Office 2007, download the trial version and have a play. It is fair to say that the receiving Office 2007 is lower than Office 2003 and that not all HR users use the interface with Word.

  • Where detailed instructions for developers to link the RoboHelp HTML files to an application?

I'm pass RoboHelp for word in RoboHelp HTML. The initial project of assistance was created years ago, and the developers who worked on it are not here anymore. Where can I find detailed instructions for our developers understand how to link the files to RoboHelp for our product application? (I haven't decided yet if you want to use Microsoft HTML Help or WebHelp as a main page layout. More information on how to associate the files could help me decide).

Also, are there instructions anywhere to help understand how to bind the files in application contextual help card ID?

Thank you, Jessica and Pete! I'll try MSHelpWiki and see if the developers can figure out with this info. If they use Delphi, I'll try the HelpScribble site.

  • RoboHelp HTML won't just run.

My RoboHelp HTML X5.0.1 won't just run. By clicking on the project file (XPJ), launch of the program in the start-programs menu or go directly to RoboHTML.exe does nothing. The process appears in Task Manager, but nothing happens to her. RoboHelp HTML worked very well about 2 days back. The only new thing I installed was Cleascase 7.0. No idea what I can do?

RoboHelp for Word, however, works very well.

    Thank you

Uninstalling Clearcase helped 7. RoboHelp HTML X5.0.1 can be started.

BTW, I installed Cleatrcase 6.x and RoboHelp HTML X5.0.1 can be started as well.

  • Using Images in RoboHelp HTML

We are currently studying the possibility of consolidating/centralizing our documentation in our online help system and are looking for input from anyone who has experience with what we offer...

We create several systems online help for a series of Web-based applications and we use RoboHelp HTML 7. Currently, content in our support systems is essentially text - only descriptions and step by step instructions, we have a few images like logos and icons, but the majority is text.

Export us the text in Word, add screenshots and create PDFs that is printed for use in face-to-face training sessions.

We are looking to makeover / the centralization of our process by including all the screen captures in the help system. However, concern has been raised regarding the addition of a lot of impact image files will be the speed and functionality of the help system.

We compile our support systems and send the entire record of the WebHelp to development where it is tested and then deployed on our servers. It is accessible by our clients to our application via Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari

Our customers access to our application via internet connections high speed, so the access speed will not be a problem. And of course we save images to GIF format to get the actual size of the file smaller. But questions remain such as:

Is there a limit to the number of images that you can use in a help system?

Is there a limit to the number of images that you can use in a topic?

-What effect will have a large number of images in the process of compilation guidance system? (I realize that it may take more time to compile, but is there a point where the system will break?)

Is there a limit to the size of the set of help files?

In addition to these issues, I wonder:

-Do you use images in your systems?

    -Have you had problems with?

-Tricks or tips you want to share on the use of images in a help system?

    Welcome to our community, TechDocGreg

I use images, all the time. I've never known break my support system. And I used to have a TON of them. (I documented a lot of material - do you gobs and gobs of photographic images of various materials in different "pose").

Of course, images likely to cause the overall size of the system helps inflate, but this should be a big problem.

Today, I tend to use exclusively. PNG format for all my images.

If you need to make a subject appear to be slim, you can drag the images inside drop-down hotspots DHTML (Dynamic HTML). That way they won't be visible unless the user really wants to see them.

    See you soon... Rick

  • RoboHelp HTML Version 11 and RoboHelp HTML to 2015 - why SEARCH has stopped working

Have a Robo HTML V11 existing project that has generated hundreds of times successfully. Updated for Robo 2015, copied all project files in a new folder.

    1. Convert the copied project of Robo2015
    2. Generated WebHelp and copied to the server
    3. Continually receive error message when you try to use the SEARCH.
      Receive the following error messages:
      error_1.png
      Then
      error_2.png
    4. Cannot clear the error or reset the SEARCH.

    Reinstalled Robo HTML V11

The original project folder has been opened in RoboHelp HTML V11 and now this project, when generated, no more a work of RESEARCH.

Tried to delete the whxdata folder in the hope that will regenerate recreate properly, obviously did not work.

Can someone shed light on this situation and provide a solution. I have updated the online help for the application, but may not post an online help system that doesn't have a SEARCH function works

  • RoboHelp HTML Version 11: Where can I find the version of RoboEngine which comes with 11 HR?

I ask this question because the guide using RoboHelp HTML 11 said that the new context-sensitive Help API is only supported with RoboHelp Server or RoboEngine 3.0 or later version.

Since we are considering deployment of WebHelp and WebHelp Pro to a web server hosted by company (instead of to RoboHelp Server), we want to assure you that we can use the CSH API to call the CSH subjects.

    Thank you.

    Carol

    Hello

You need not RoboEngine (former name of the HR server?) You can simply put your files on any hosted platform and use the context-sensitive help api.

Are what API you referring? You can still use sensitive context help, whether you use additional products.

    Kind regards
