Router EA3500 'limited' at startup

I just replaced a WRT610N that had worked perfectly until this that subscribed by a power surge.

The EA3500 I got seems to work fine, with one exception.

Whenever I start my laptop, wireless, EA3500 network happens as "restricted" with no internet connection. I then have to connect to a different network, then reconnect to the original network. After I do this, the original, by default, the network is fully functional with internet connectivity and I am able to use the laptop on the internet without any problem.

No idea why this happens and how I can fix?

Make sure that network card drivers are up to date on the laptop.

Temporarily turn off security on WiFi and see if LT. connects with number. And then reactivated.

Do an ipconfig/release

ipconfig /DNSFlush.

ipconfig / renew

  • EA3500 Limited and unavailable 192.168.1.1

We moved a week ago, and I'm trying to set up my system exactly as it was before. I have my router connected to a cable modem that we have, so the only thing that has changed is the address IP Comcast providing service to the House.

I tried to use the router wired to my Tower and wireless. Whatever happens, the tower and other devices to access the network, but it is limited and does not provide any internet.

Also, I can't access the control panel via IP. I'm wired, I tried several different Ethernet cables, tried to access it via Chrome and Internet Explorer, all have antivirus protection and firewall turned off and continue to get that this webpage is not available.

I was repeatedly stop and restart all three components, in different orders.

I don't know what else to try. I read on this forum that the firmware update might fix my problem of limited connectivity, but I can't update the firmware until I can access the control panel.

I am running Windows 8 on a dual core processor with something like 2.6GHz and 8 MB of RAM.

I'm online wireless again. Once I have access to CP, I did a factory reset (did not work since the reset button) and after setting fresh, everything seems to work. Thanks for all your help.

  • Cannot access router EA3500 to change settings

I would like to make a few changes to the configuration of my router, but can't access the configuration screens. I tried Smart Wifi and myrouter.local.  After entering my password, it hangs on "Waiting."... "and I never have to the configuration screens.  What I am doing wrong?

Hi there, lindsayla18! It is possible that the IP address (192.168.1.1) of the EA3500 may have changed. You try to access the wireless user interface? It is preferable that you access with the cable from the computer to the router.

Try to get the IP address and the default gateway ('router' for Mac) of the connected computer and use this default gateway to access the user interface.
Last resort would be to reset and reconfigure the EA3500. You still have to, do it connected to the router.

  • 502 gateway incorrectly when you connect locally in router EA3500

When I try to connect to my router using 192.168.1.1, or that the site is online, I get a 502 Bad Gateway and can't do anything. Internet works fine, but I can't configure the router.

    Things I've tried:

Unplug the router for a bit, then reconnect.

Factory reset the router with the button on the bottom.

Using the android application to connect to the router. (Does not work, the router said wasn't online when it was clearly)

Flushing DNS on the side of the computer, try different computers, trying different browsers, compensation hide browser.

I tried to talk with Cisco via their online chat and found out that they are basically of crooks who want to charge you to fix things on the internet, but they told me that they believe it is a firmware issue and that I should update. I downloaded the latest firmware, but how do I update the firmware when I can not connect to the router?

Hold down the button to reset for 10 seconds. The power led on the router will keep flashing for a few seconds after you have reset as it is still trying to stabilize. Once the power led comes on solid means that the reset is successful. Power cycle the router and make sure that the computer is connected to the router by an Ethernet cable. Remove the cache and the history of navigation on your computer, and then try again. It would be better if you can also try to access the page using another computer. I hope this helps!

  • EA3500 not detected during installation

I had a router (EA3500) wifi linksys n750 chip to use with a scientific atlanta cable modem. Initially, I tried to set up on my girlfriends laptop but because the installation program REQUIRES wifi, she didn't. (the wifi on this laptop is down). He got up to 85% filled including having put in place the SSID and password. but failed to set up the internet connection. So I tried to put up with my laptop instead. I unplugged the modem and router for more than 5 minutes each, and then began the installation program. It reaches 25% and then asked to not be able to detect a linksys router. However, I checked my taskbar, and he said that I was connected to the router under the SSID I had put in place previously. So I tried the option "I have configured my router and want to connect to it", I entered the SSID and the PW, but still he could not connect. I used the reset button on the router for if all right to restore it to factory settings. Now when I try to install it doesn't have the SSID tthat had already together (the router is now identified as "Cisco 00259" or something like that), but it still fails to 25%. He also said that it cannot detect a linksys router. What is going on. I know that the Wifi is working on this laptop. I cycled the modem and the router enough times to be sure that is not the problem. How to spend it?

  • Modem ADSL for EA3500

I have a router EA3500. I have ADSL service at our offices. Which modem (or product) Cisco doesn't recommend you leave will present services to broadband to the EA3500? I called Cisco and they said 'buy a X 3000'. I don't see the point of buying another modem/router to power the router EA3500! All I have to do is to present the EA3500 with the 'broadband '. Thank you... Peter.

It is a good choice. Go with the X 3000 because it is already a router. If you already have an existing modem the EA3500 would be the 'guy' for you. But then to simplify the configuration, go with the combo instead. In this way, that you don't have to set up too many appliances.

  • Inspiron 15 (3521) Wireless 'limited'... but only in some places!

I spent days trying to solve this problem on this laptop. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my son, to see that he had a problem with wifi connectivity. What is crazy is that he connects perfectly to my home router and will link perfectly with two coffee shops/bakeries different, that I used for the test yesterday. But a local Starbucks and my place of work son (who is also a public hotspot) it shows only a "limited" connection, and you get no Internet access. I was also told that he could see and connect to his iPhone in the mode of 'hotspot' or whatever, but could not access the Internet through that either.

Basics: Inspiron 15 (3421), Windows 8 x 64 clean install, as well as all current Dell (from the Dell site) pilots.

FWIW, I trained as a long tech with computers and laptops, so I have no problem get on and check or reset things. As I said, it has all the latest drivers Dell for everything on it, including the most recent (as of today ' hui) wireless pilot of 1704. Also, I read several messages of the forum by other similar problems, so I've seen many things suggested trying to fix wifi connectivity issues (set it to maximum performance, do not let the system turn off the power, etc.). I check always positions for other ideas, but it is frustrating having to work here at home and need to run up to a Starbucks to see if it is fixed or still flaky.

Despite this, it seems to me that proof that it connects perfectly to some hotspot routers and my AT & T Home wifi router makes it quite clear that the material is fine. He sees all routers for hotspot and lists their names and it can / connect and obtain an IP (checked via "ipconfig/all"). So I think that the cell/wlan computer hardware is functional, but there is something wrong with the drivers or some parameter that is on or off, or incorrectly, which simply communicates properly with some hotspot routers or configurations... as the "Google Starbucks' in the street hotspot generic.

I think now that Dell must have a very good idea what is the problem, even if they are not widely publicize for some reason any. But I would like to know what could do this thing not to connect to some very public hotspot routers and be just fine to connect to others. Get that something in the laptop that makes too strict or more specific, such as maybe the older routers do not work.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you...

I can certainly understand the frustration. It is clear to me, after a week of trying to figure out what not to everyone connection problem was the same as mine, but I don't think that what I found was something that should have been to the top of the list of troubleshooting steps. It was a thing of hands down which would prevent all internet connectivity in certain circumstances... but would work in other... and is not obvious to most people - especially considering the info below:

Tonight that I went back to a different s Starbuck to check that she was now working to each of them. At this Starbuck - which I had been to before - I've always had "limited" connectivity And here, the IP4 network setting was still defective 192.168.1.254 entered DNS, check the box "use the following DNS server address", if I know that I had deleted because things were now works in the other Starbuck. I removed it, but when I returned and reconnected still wouldn't connect... and the DNS entry seems to have made their reappearance. I tried to connect and reconnect, but it would not go beyond limited connectivity.  Then it hit me...

What I suspect now could be a problem is that if you never tried to connect to the router to a place, and either remembered or choose "auto-connect", it must be store the parameters of this particular network/wi-fi connection. It seems logical in hindsight, but it did not occurred to me that each wi - fi connection you connect to (Starbucks... Bookstore... etc.) can save some network attributes you had put there at the beginning and if they're wrong, you're, well, dazed and confused and that's an understatement. I think that's why my faulty DNS entry was always there for this place.

So, I finally completely deleted the connection for this Starbucks (i.e. choose "forget this network" in the list of wi - fi) and let it be redétectés cleanly. Now when I chose to connect... bingo! Obtained through the T & C page Starbuck and may finally authenticate and go.

To reiterate my experience: I had tried all the changes of 'Advanced' settings that so many Dell ' Rockstars said everyone to change - I changed the power settings, strict H, 802. 11 b, 2300, HAND, to THE aggressive, more broad compatibility, blah, blah... changed back, back again. I reinstalled the drivers, drivers of old Win 7 lots borrowed and even tried a few odd Broadcom drivers. Not one of these things makes no difference, but not a rockstar all be suggested that you do not have a wrong DNS server IP in there.
(Fwiw... I finally settle on the driver WLAN 1708, who has worked and is running in there now, although I think the original pilot of 1704 probably worked all along.)

    The steps:
    1) connect to the router showing 'limited' connectivity... then...
    (2) right click on the icon of wi - fi in the Windows status bar (next to the battery icon) and choose "Open Network and Sharing Center.
    3) double-click the name of the wi - fi on the right (in blue, next to the Green wi - fi bars bit.)
    4) click 'properties '...
    (4) scroll down and double-click "Internet Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) connection
    (5) at the bottom, select "'Obtain DNS server address automatically'... click on 'OK' and you're done.

You have probably been disconnected anyway, but better to just 'forget this network' for this connection and let it re - detect and reconnect from scratch. Worked for me and I can now connect everywhere.

    Good luck...

  • Re: Wireless suddenly stops working after traveling abroad

    Toshiba Satellite L402, WXP

Before you travel my laptop wireless works perfectly, after traveling abroad, I tried to connect to my network wireless at home, but I can't see any wireless network.

I have two computers at home, PC and laptop, the PC has no any problem connecting to the wireless and can see all available wireless network, while my laptop has his red X mark on its icon on the quick launch wireless and can not display any network without wire around, I have re installed the driver but still it won't work , I tried to connect my psp and portable to my wireless router just to check if the connection to the router is limited, but I was able to connect to it.

Any idea on what I need to check or do? Thank you!

    Hi guel27,

-have you checked if the wlan switch is in the correct position?
-If the position is ok, check the hardware by using Device Manager. No red or yellow cross on the wlan adapter? Okay, you guys:
-check if the network connection is not disabled in the overview of network connections
-(droite-klick sur réseau/wlan-icon dans la systemtray et vérifiez votre connexion si elle est désactivée.)
seing any Red Cross on your wlan conn? Okay, you guys:
-Perhaps you have installed a wireless Internet favorite, at least you could:
-delete all favorite connections and choose dhcp instead of a static ip address

BTW: Be sure to use the driver for your nic corect!

  • Windows Color and Appearance - NO AERO

When I right click on the desktop and choose customization, then choose Windows color and appearance, it is the classic Windows Properties dialogue.  There is no other choice for Aero.  Under themes, I have TWO choices that say Windows Vista and I tried both, but none work.  I can't return the choice of advanced Vista color (the screen with transparency option) no matter what I try.

Thanks in advance for the help!

    Hello Hawk7236,

You want to make sure that the service themes Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service (and) are both started. If they were stopped or disabled through an application which limits Aero startup items will not be an option. Please try manually from both services to see if you're then presented with options to enable Aero in the Customize menu.

    Start the Windows Services

    1. click on Start, type services.msc in the Search bar and press ENTER.

    2. If you are prompted by user account control , click continue.

    3. now locate the services mentioned previously (2).

    4. If they are not currently enabled them right click and select Start.

  • Need to improve the wireless home network

I am trying to improve the coverage of my home network.

I have Fios, and with existing wireless features, there are several dead and weak coverage areas in my house.  This is due to a combination of the place where my router's (limited by the power input) and the confuration from home.

I have CAT - 5 running for most of the rooms, so adding wired devices is not a problem.  I went out and picked up an EA4500 router, and my plan was to convert my Fios router a bridge and then use the EA4500 as the DHCP server.  However, even with this router, my coverage is not improved.  My preferred solution to get 1 or 2 additional access points that I can plug into my cable system, however, I would like to have a common SSID for the network.

    Is a home-based solution available?

It would be probably better get these access points that you plan to learn to eliminate these "notspots".

as suggested previously, you can get a WAP610N or one of the new series of EA (set to bridge mode) router.

  • DHCP DNS

I have WRT54G2 and LAN and Wireless clients. LAN clients get IP routers as DNS server via the routers DHCP server. Wireless clients obtain DNS server of the ISP via the DHCP server even! How is that possible? I don't want any clients to send requests directly to the server DNS of ISP.

    Any suggestions?

    1. the reason for NAT is that your ISP only gives you a single public IP address, but you want to connect multiple computers to the same internet connection. That's why you're generally a NAT router. If your ISP to assign you any number of public IP addresses you want to that you wouldn't need a router because of this. But as far as I know always more ISP only gives you a public IP address by internet connection. This requires a NAT router. But she has actually nothing to do with the way in which a computer in the local network behind the NAT router gets its DNS information.

    2. There is little or no advantage in using a proxy DNS from the router over the use of the server DNS ISP directly, except maybe a slight to put entries speed advantage cached in proxy and a single IP for DNS servers instead of an IP address of the DNS server address that may change at some point Although it rarely happens. The advantage of the cache on the router is limited, too, as these routers are usually very limited and memory would be more important for the translation NAT tables then the DNS caches that could be retrieved from the ISP DNS server as well.

    3. I can't tell how Linksys not their version numbering. I find that on occasion, they change the version number after the initial release. I guess that often the initial version is derived from some other firmware router and then later they change the numbering. Unless there is a real problem there is no need to update the firmware. Given the number of different models, versions of hardware and firmware in different languages for different countries or different regulatory areas, it is not surprising that are some problems on the Web site. Other companies also have this kind of issues. But I have to admit these days, that Linksys has a few more problems, particularly outside the United States
