RV110W PPTP

Hi all

I connected Client PPTP devices to my RV110W (PPTP server) but the problem is that a connected client cannot "see" another PPTP client.

The installation would be:

Client PPTP (linux - firewall disabled) connects to RV110W (PPTP server)

PPTP Client B (iphone) connects to the same RV110W (PPTP server)

Since the iphone, I can't access the website on the linux server.

From a computer in the same VLAN that PPTP clients can't access/ping the linux server

1. is there a limitation of the RV110W - PPTP clients cannot 'see' eachother, or do I have to dig deep with connected devices?

2 should. what security scenario I use to test successfully if it works (eg. 2 windows connected machines as PPTP clients and try to ping eachother)?

3 - is related to the routing table?

Thanks in advance,

Todd

Hello

By default, PPTP clients can communicate with each other, as they are in the same local network

The default (RV110W) PPTP server is with an IP 10.0.0.1. Clients receive IP addresses from 10.0.0.10 10.0.0.X.

Then you should be able to ping clients on these IP addresses, without any additional configuration on the router

Kind regards

Bismuth

  • Configuration of VPN RV110W - please help

First of all, I would like to thank you for all the tips I have ever set up a VPN before.

I am looking for help on setting up a VPN connection to a remote device. I need to be able to connect from a laptop that could be in my office, home, or a hotel room in a city at random in North America. The RV110W will have a static IP address and the device behind him that I need to connect. What I need to know, I have to also take a RV110W with me when I travel to connect through a VPN for this device? Or can it be set up if I can connect from anywhere?

    Hi Bill,

My name is Mehdi from the Cisco Technical Support.

Customer support RV110W VPN IPsec and PPTP, and you can connect from anywhere using QVPN client or a Windows-based PPTP client.

Before evrything, check if you have the latest firmware, if not here's the link to download the latest firmware: http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283879340&software...

    Latest firmware is 1.2.0.10

    Here are the steps:

    Solution 1: Configure PPTP

---> Under VPN--> VPN Clients enable the PPTP server

-IP address for the PPTP server: IP address of the PPTP server, for example if the router has the IP 192.168.1.1, we can have 192.168.1.200 (must be in the same subnet as the LAN and DHCP server)

-IP address for the PPTP Clients: will give the range of the IP address to clients, in my view, is of maximum 5 IP

-Under VPN--> Clients VPN--> VPN Client configuration table

-Click Add a line and add the user name and password to enable checkbox and choose PPTP

    -Click the button Save

Now on the PC to configure the client, here's example:

    http://www.strongvpn.com/setup_windows_7_pptp.shtml

    Solution 2:

We need to download and install the client use IPsec QVPN QVPN from this link:

    http://software.Cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283879340&software...

-On the router under VPN--> VPN Client--> add Row and do the same steps, but instead of PPTP, choose QVPN

-Also under firewall allow remote management on port 443

now on the client he will ask for username and password for the client who already configured on the router and the server, the server is the public IP address of the router's WAN interface

I hope that I was clear for these steps to configure the VPN, please rate and click on answer to help other client from cisco for more of her.

  • AnyConnect licenses for Cisco RV110W

    Hi all

Thank you in advance for taking the time to respond - I tried for the last hour and seek more information on the AnyConnect client for an entry level firewall - CiscoRV110W, but I'm still confused.

To say simple things, my questions are:

If I buy this firewall of entry-level VPN connections supports 5 + 5, can users download the AnyConnect client and connect to the VPN for free (once it is set up), or do I have to pay extra for the AnyConnect licenses? How much would that cost?

My experience with AnyConnect has been so far limited to the end user, use it to connect to the network through the VPN at work, but now I take into account set up something similar for a small office with a few teleworkers.

    Connection of the device:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/RV110W-wireless...

I already read the FAQ for AnyConnect, but it is still is not clear.

    Thank you for your time!

    Hi mmihai.toma,

As far as I know, is not supported on devices RV Anyconnect.  If you want to use Anyconnect you must have a Firewall ASA or IOS, router IO - XE.

According to the documentation it looks like the only VPN options for the device of RV are: quick VPN, Site to Site, and PPTP.

  • Connection with the client VPN for RV110W problem

Hi guys: I just installed a RV110W router to my small business and I try to connect via VPN from home client.  I was unable to do so, no matter what I try.  Relevant information:

    1. I can connect to the router via remote very well management, so I know that the router is accessible from the Net.

    2. internal address of the router: 10.81.208.1

    3. active PPTP.  PPTP server IP address: 10.0.0.1

    4 IP addresses for PPTP clients: 10.0.0.10 - 14

    5. two VPN clients added - one with PPTP, with the QuickVPN Protocol Protocol.  Both are enabled (and Yes, I triple checked passwords)

6 encryption MPPE and Netbios active.

7 IPSec, PPTP and L2TP all active gateways.

    8 VPN client: 1.4.1.2

    9. computer: laptop running Windows 7 family (64-bit), with the firewall Windows is activated.

    10 home network: 192.168.2.196

It is causing to tear my hair out.  What Miss me?

    Hi Shannon,

I am pleased to see that you're progress.

    Shannon Rotz wrote:

I changed the RM port to 443.  Unfortunately, now I can't connect to the router via browser, either by remote management or from the local network - I get the usual "page cannot be displayed".  How do I get back into the router configuration GUI?

You should be able to reach the GUI by typing https://192.168.1.1(assuming that you have not changed the default IP address) normally once you replace http (port 80) with https (port 443) the internal router web server automatically will redirect you to the https page if you type http. Open your command prompt and try to do a ping of the IP address of the router to ensure that it still meets this address

With regards to the VPN client:   Up until I changed the port, the same error message kept coming up, i.e. "Unable to establish connection" (or something like that), with a list of possible reasons why it couldn't connect. Now the message has changed - I'm getting "Server's certificate doesn't exist on your local computer".  If I continue trying to connect, then it says "Activating Policy", followed by "Verifying Network", then "The remote gateway is not responding.  Do you want to wait?"  This is definitely progress, since I never got this far before.

You are a quarter inch offline. If you look at the log.txt in C:\Program Cisco Small Business\QuickVPN Client, in my view, you will see "Failed to ping router remote VPN! This means that your PC is blocking the ping to the router response. Usually, if you look at this point the status of Client VPN in the router (first of all need to remote management) you will see that your user status is "connected." If the router thinks that the connection is established, but the PC does not work. You might want to try another PC at this stage to verify that it is indeed a problem with your PC. This problem is usually caused by the 3rd party software antivirus/firewall blocking the ping response. Microsoft Security Essentials can do this as well, so if you turn it off. If you do not have another PC to test from, call Cisco Small Business Support and ask a technician, try to connect to the lab. You can find the number to call here

On an impulse, I tried setting up a Windows VPN connection, i.e. created a new VPN connection in Network and Sharing Center, using a PPTP client ID that I had created.  That connection actually worked, except for one problem:  I can't see the remote network.  If I could solve that problem, I'll just tell the other clients to use a Windows connection rather than QuickVPN.

Good thought. If you do not see the remote devices, make sure that they do not block VPN connections. (Windows or third-party firewall, antivirus, antispyware) With a connection, PPTP or QuickVPN, you should be able to go to run, type the IP address of the device that you want to connect to (i.e. \\192.168.1.101 ) and see the list of shared folders. After the PPTP connection is established, try to ping the address LAN IP of the router. If it is successful, try to ping a LAN device such as a network printer or a PC. Again, PCs may block ping requests if they have a firewall running watch so for this.

Answer please if you have any questions.

  • PPTP VPN does not work on Iphone Personal Hotspot

    Hello

I've just updated to iOS 10 yesterday and now all my devices I use to connect to the personal hotspot on my iphone are not able to establish PPTP VPN connections. I was aware of the PPTP client are disabled in the iOS, but has actually blocked PPTP are not used by devices that connect to the Personal Hotspot?

Please help ASAP, I know there are many more end-users like me having the same problem.

    Hello

Apple does not recommend using the PPTP protocol for secure and private communication.

iOS 10 and macOS Sierra intentionally delete a VPN profile PPTP connections when a user upgrades from their device.

Apple recommends using another VPN protocol which is safer:

  • Not ios10 blocking VPN PPTP connections through personal hotspot?

I use an iPhone 6 + and was upgraded to ios10, two days ago.

While I don't have a configuration of the VPN connection on the phone, I connect my computer laptop personal hotspot of the iPhone to use internet and sometimes connect to a VPN.

Before my upgrade to ios10, my laptop could still connect to the VPN while connected to the hotspot from my iPhone.

After that I updated to ios10, my laptop does not connect to the VPN I connect to.

I see reports that Apple has abandoned the use of the connection for PPTP VPN connections on ios10.

But most of the people having problems seem to be people who connect to their phones directly to the VPN in the iPhone settings.

In my case, my phone is just acting under the guidance of the internet on my laptop but it seems that it does not obstruct my laptop to connect to a pptp even connection if that should have no impact on the phone itself.

I went down to ios9 and my laptop can connect again to the VPN.

But now my Apple Watch does not work with my phone because I improved the watch to os3.

Any ideas if there is a work around for the connection for pptp connections using the hotspon on ios10?

  • Windows Firewall is down all packets coming from a PPTP site to site VPN

I have a PPTP VPN site-to-site built with RRAS. The branch server is a Windows Server 2003, and the main Office Server is a Windows Server 2008 R2. Public profile Windows Firewall log shows that all packages of the branch are declining.

Curiously, I can access all the main office desktop computers.

    The configuration is:

    Main office:
    Network address: 192.168.0.0/24
IP address of the server: 192.168.0.3/24

    Branch:
    Network address: 192.168.1.0/24
IP address of the server: 192.168.1.1/24

I guess that both tunnels are ok because RRAS shows that interfaces are connected. Each PPTP server interface receives an IP address assigned by remote RRAS.

There is no set of packet filters.
There are firewall rules allow ICMPv4 inbound and outbound traffic.

When I try to ping 192.168.0.3 from the Branch Office Server, Windows Firewall records in the log of public profile:

    2011-09-28 16:10:44 DROP ICMP 192.168.0.102 192.168.0.3 - 0-0 0 - RECEIVE

where 192.168.0.102 is the address PPP assigned to the Head Office of RRAS.

Any help will be appreciated and very helpful.

    Thank you.

  • Port of VPN PPTP WRT120N

I'm trying to connect to the network through Microsoft PPTP VPN on port 1723, however when I add "Of Applications and games" on the router (chosen in the menu drop-down), it shows as port 1720 and is not connecting. If I port manually before 1723 below, it still will not connect. If I add my IP as a DMZ, it connects successfully. I started with the 1.0.04)is firmware and updated 1.0.06 and it still fails with the firmware versions and the built in PPTP definition shows like port 1720. What should I do?

It seems to be a problem with router is. I had a problem. At home, I have a XP PC and a WRT120N. About the remote location a Draytek 2200E with active VPN server. Sometimes no VPN connection possible. WRT/off voltage switching, then possible once to configure the PPTP protocol. Second time fails. Replacing the WRT120N by an another 2200E Draytek (home side) and now everything is OK. Seems to be a bug in the software of passthough PPTP.

  • WRT320N - support for PPTP and L2PT DCHP?

Hello, I bought this router and facing the problem - how to establish an internet connection. My ISP supports only DHCP for PPTP and L2TP, it gave me the URL (vpn.corbina.net and tp.corbina.net). I found a topic in a local forum with an explanation how to establish an internet connection with the same ISP, but for wrt610n. The basic configuration page is the same for these two routers, but my router is not working, nor with L2TP or PPTP settings. It is unable to connect to both servers, and that's all. With 'ping', I found the IP addresses of these servers.

Currently I use wl520gc from asus, and it supports DHCP for vpn and have no problem with it.

Maybe you have some ideas how to solve this problem.

Ok. I found the error, I have not found correctly the server ip. Now I know, everything works.

Thanks for help. Sorry for the inconvenience. Good day.

  • WRT160N V2 multiple PPTP connections

    Hello

I have a problem, try to connect multiple computers to a PPTP VPN.

I have a WRT160N connected to the internet with the option of Automatic Configuration - DHCP

2 computers behind the router to get IP from the router via DHCP

I can connect to a computer, without any

    problems.

When I try to connect with my second computer freezes just the connections.

I read it has todo with GRE packets, or almost, I'm not an expert in network so

This information is enough for me, my questions are:

1 - is it possible to use this router and have more than one connected computer

    to the VPN?

2 - If not is there any other wireless router I can use to fix this?

Any help will be greatly welcomed

    Thanks in advance

    Tonio

It depends on. It should be possible to connect to two different PPTP servers in the internet.

It is not possible to connect two computers on the same PPTP server via a NAT router. This is simply because the router should dig a lot deeper in the GRE to distinguish traffic Grateful for two client connections between the PPTP server and the router's public IP address.
